This is what I was suggesting in reply to complains on sync issues. Bootstrap.dat goes easy and weights a few megabytes. The best feature ever made by the hands of cryptogod.
What exactly does one include in such a data archive? An entire ~/.axon directory? Or just the actual blocks data? Or what? -MarkM-

Well I will add Bitshares to the list of platforms to look into.
Being on more platforms is presumably like being on more exchanges, a hopefully good thing...

I think the ANN section of these forums did not exist way back when. Also I believe it was probably announced in a DeVCoin development thread as it was created during the initial phase of DeVCoin development when we were looking for ways to divide minting among groups of people. Once we figured out how, that feature was moved into DeVCoin and GRouPcoin became just a nice simple 50 coins per block forever merged mined SHA256 coin cmerged mined alongside BiTCoin and other such coins. But I do see this in the announcement section: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=67991.0-MarkM-

That is what I am doing, on the already established blockchain (New) Horizon (NHZ). I have run into a problem when I moved on from "assets" to "currencies" though, the routine for making sure currencies (unlike assets) have unique names seems to have gone haywire after a couple of currencies, so any more I try to create it keeps saying the name is already used. But yeah, NXT, Horizon, Burst, I had actually forgotten about bitshares because I seem to recall they seemed to set out to scam us all out of all the value he had, at each stage from Protoshares on and on they seemed to keep destroying / diluting value, so the bitshares i have thanks to the Protoshares I started with seemed pathetically worthless last time I looked into it so I kind of put that whole corporation out of mind, I have not seen muchg mention of them lately but last time I did I seem to recall seeing lots of threads / posts about what scammers they are. Hmm. Could look into it again maybe but I'd like to finish setting up the entire gamut of assets and currencies on Horizon first, then probably on BURST also, am not so keen on NXT because of both the price and the tawdry scandals around how it was issued... Oh also looking at that link you provided it jumped out at me right away that bitshares also seems to be somewhat like Ripple in abandoning core principles of the wild west altcoin scene in favour to making all value be controlled and frozen/unfrozen and stolen and confiscated and gosh knows what else, basically trying to bring back in centralisation? I am creating game assets and game currencies for role-playing games, run by banks on galaxies far far away where the regulations Ripple and Bitshares talk about are weird fictions from a fantasy world known as Earth that, even if it does exist in the game, is not believed by most of the people in most of the galaxies to actually exist or to be anything more than a myth or cycle of myths, legends, fiction etc only believed in by crazy (aka out-of-character) people... -MarkM-

Nowadays we have NXT-clones like NHZ and BURST and countless similar types of platforms that are not based directly on NXT, so it is even easier now to implement currencies.. However today in trying to create Horizon (HHZ) currencies to let the "big seven" Galactic currencies ( UKB, CDN, GMC, GRF, MBC, NKL and UNS) operate on the Horizon platform I was able to create some but then suddenly every attempt to create another got a "name already used" error no matter what name I tried to give it. Hopefully a way around that will be found if not oh well I guess I'll be trying BURST next... -MarkM-

I tried to issue some currencies but there seems to be a bug that makes it keep insisting the currency name is already in use.
The first currency I made worked, the second it seemed to say the name was in use but created it anyway, or maybe the mouse clicked twice creating it then trying to create it again and finding the name was already in use, then ever since all names are already supposedly in use. I killed and restarted the server, that didn't fix it, so I deleted browser tab and visited the server from a new tab but that didn't fix it either.
I really does not seem to care what name I try to use, it always claims it is already used.
I am using server version 1.54
I even killed the whole browser and restarted it and even that did not fix it.

Windows users might call a daemon a "service".
I mean the "service" you run that makes the coin go.
Maybe you might have a GUI program you run that has an ability to "do" the coin?
The daemon or service is the running code on your machine that you talk to via your command line or GUI telling it you want to do this that or the other thing about the coin.
Importantly it is also the program that talks to other machines to enable the peer to peer networking to get the blockchain get and send transactions and so on.
Call it "program" instead of "daemon" or "service" if you prefer.
Or call it the coin as in run the coin aka run the daemon that enables the coin aka run the service that makes the coin be up and running on your machine aka start the coin's networking so it communicates with other machines on the network to get and keep up with the blockchain.

It is not eavesdroppers I worry about, it is running stuff on my machines that I do not have the source code for.

Run Axon, then once you have its blockchain up to date give it your saved backujp AXIOM wallets.
(Stop the daemon, copy a wallet into data directory, fire up coin again, checkwallet, recover wallet if need be, send the coins to an address created in the new empty wallet you got when you inititlly started AXON if you have several AXIOM wallets to process and consolidate or just want to start clean without umpteen megabytes of wallet left from years of staking.
Basically all your saved AXIOM wallet backups also act as old saved AXON wallets, all coins prior to the point where the chains diverged should survive.

Skype I happen to know, having tried in the past, does not seem to inter-operate with anything that is free open-source; and also all the free open source videochat things I have tried I have failed to get to work.
Slack I am not familiar with at all, so I guess I can at least try to find time to check out whether it is free open source or something proprietary or even just a website like Facebook and such are.
Is there a freenode IRC channel or something like that?

Things have been delayed by the fact that the format used for data (contracts, accounts, nyms etc) changed and I did not want to go through a whole hassle of migrating all the data to a new format until the "final" format is decided. A long time ago I was told it would be finalised soon, but that was long enough ago now that I don't think it really qualifies as soon anymore.
That has gone on long enough now that I keep getting tempted to migrate to Horizon (a NXT clone) or BURST (another NXT clone) or something.
But their markets shoehorn their native currency into every trade, that is all trading pairs have to use the native currency as one side of the pair.
One of the really really nice things about Open Transactions is the built-in ability to pair any asset against any asset, either way around and at various scales (granularities).

so u own 100000 dmd 10000 of then are trading on bittrex and the rest is staking for this 'fund' impressive dmd investment why this is the first time we hear from u? if the numbers true u would be the biggest dmd owning entinity I came out of hospital following a stroke to find that my diamonds had had the rug pulled out from under them, I really have to wonder if they are at all the long term prospect they seemed originally intended to be. I had to re-synch my blockchain, losing thousands of diamond. Luckily it was few enough months since the blockchain fork that I recovered the losses in a month or two. I bought in around the end of 2015 / start of 2016, doing market-making. So yeah the numbers are legit. I'd have a lot more if Cryptsy had not vanished most of my capital. Oh well. I still do have some capital left friends have been bugging me for ages to make assets of some kind so they can share in trading and staking gains so here we are. I do not know if Bitrex has a method of displaying an account's holdings so one can publicly display them? If so I could do that for you so you can see. For my staking wallet it would all be broken up into umpteen addresses and if I poured it all into one address that would cause a disruption in staking I expect. Check out my posting history and you will see I have been around a long time. I might even have posted in this thread before, not sure, I must have read it to figure out why diamond seemed broken, but maybe I didn't need to post questions to get it working again. Part of why I am doing this is I am also a large holder of Horizon itself, and folks seem to think having assets on the platform will help the platform and the value of its native tokens. I am creating other assets too, see http://makemoney.knotwork.com/horizon/assets/ and of course for years now I have run Open Transactions, with lots of assets, see http://galaxies.mygamesonline.org/digitalisassets.htmlSee my thread about my Open Transactions server at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=53329.0-MarkM-

To help support Cubits3, such as by providing marketmaking on exchanges, I have created an asset on the Horizon network. I have created an info page about the asset at http://makemoney.knotwork.com/horizon/assets/hzgrow/Cubits3 is only one of the growth-potential items this HZGROW fund bundles together, see the info page for info. -MarkM-
