361  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Mining bug with GTX-680 and HD 5870 in cgminer :/ on: June 10, 2013, 04:56:03 PM
Hi guys !

I really hope someone will be able to help me with this problem.

I just added a HD 5870 (ATI) to my computer that already has a gtx-680 (nvidia). Having read that in windows 7 you can install both cards without a problem
I was happy to see instalation was not a problem. The latest beta catalyst drivers (AMD Catalyst™ 13.6 Beta2) instaled without a problem and both card are recognized by windows. I did not install any SDK since it was not necessary with the 13.6 beta2 with my HD 5850 that runs in another computer.

I though I could launch cgminer with default command line and the babies do their work, but I get an error message in cgminer :/

command line to launch cgminer : cgminer.exe -o http://stratum.bitcoin.cz:3333 -u user -p pass

I get the following errors :

and once I press enter :

I searched for an answer on the forum and the web and the only solution I found involves disabling the nvidia card, connecting the screen to the amd card and launching the miner

then enabling the nvidia card and switch the screen again. I have not tested this yet but it is not very practical.

There is also a similar post on this forum but no answer was given :  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=174091.0

I can do a cgminer -n dump if needed !

I hope someone can help me through this problem.

Tamis

I dont know if this would work, but what about getting/making a dummy plug for your AMD card, and in your configuration in CGMiner, disabling the GPU number that corresponds to your Nvidia card?  This way CGMiner shouldnt try and use it, and the dummy plug will make your system think your AMD card is plugged into a monitor.

Question ... ?
Is anyone having problems with cgminer 3.2.1 Icarus mining (Icarus, Lancelot or Erupter only) on anything OTHER than the RPi?
I seem to have narrowed it down to possibly being a timer bug (happening inside libusb - so possibly a kernel problem)
And if you are NOT having problems with 3.2.1 on RPi, could you tell me your kernel version?
with uname -a
Thanks!

Edit: and not using USB 3.0 Smiley

Trying to catch up on posts, might have missed something on this, but is this/could this be the same issue that is causing Jalapeno's to not run on r-pi's?
My Jalapeno works fine on my RPi - but yes I'm using a USB2.0 powered hub.
Though, even plugging the USB2.0 hub in, with the Jalapeno and the AMU already plugged into it, crashes linux on the RPi ... before I even go near cgminer.

The RPi problem seems to only affect the Icarus driver, however, USB 3.0 is pretty much not working at the moment for anything
I do have a powered USB3.0 hub I bought recently for testing this, but have been side tracked:
I've been running around in circles with the AMU Icarus RPi problem only to find it may well be an OS bug ... I've finally tracked it down to a call into libusb that never comes back and never times out ... but it works perfectly on my desktop ...

Anyway will look into USB 3.0 soon.

Okay, clearly I am missing something.  I have my Jalapeno plugged directly into my rpi.  Should I not be doing that in order to get cgminer to recognize it?  I am running it headless, just my rpi with my jalapeno plugged into it and using putty for anything, not using a keyboard.  So, maybe I missed something.  I have a USB 2.0 hub I could use if that for some reason solves the problem.

Yes, that is correct. We will still need to assemble the units, but they go together very fast. So far, it's looking like 400 a day was a conservative estimate (that's 400 aggregate across all product lines, not 400 per product line). With a partial team going on the Jalapeno's, we can easily do 200 in about 5 hours. With a full team and more practice, an 8 hour day would yield at least 400 Jalapeno's + whatever singles and MRs can be put together in that time.

Looking good.

Blah blah blah more talk and very little results.

1 year anniversary on the horizon from inception of BFL pre-order scam bullshit.

At this point, with how many out int he wild, and with me getting mine Saturday and have been running my Jalapeno since then, well about the 4.5Gh that I paid for, yeah, im good.  Of course I wish it didnt take me nearly a year, but hey, I got it so cant really say scam, just not exactly delivered when originally promised, but the product does exist and does do as promised.

Wow, they must be flying through production now. Less than 24 hours after it went into production, I have my shipment email with tracking.  My day just got a whole lot better.
366  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: BFL is shipping on: June 05, 2013, 08:54:32 PM

Also, anyone see how BFL is shipping their chips? Only in batches of 100. I think they should finish the order queue first before shipping other damn chips.
The chips are not shipping for over 3 months, I doubt any wafers for them have even been ordered yet as BFL will be still trying to work out the number to order. Are you suggesting BFL are not going to continue shipping the order queue for more than 3 months until after the bulk sales chips arrive just to annoy customers?

I was unaware they are not shipping for over 3 months. Thank you for clarification.

chips come 100 days after 1/2 payment is delivered. It isn't the doom and gloom everyone seems to think it is. BFL is just trying to scrape up funds to do larger runs on the chips.

What do you mean scrape up funds, those chips are already paid for by the customer.

What I want to know is why the only members who are getting their shipments are members with only 5-10 posts. And no pictures with the "I GOTS MINES TODAY!!111 N ITZ MININ"

I would also love to have feedback for those who supposedly got their product, are the fans dusty, and do they smell like they've been running. you know that smell that graphic cards have id assume asics would have the same? I mean who could resist not running having millions of dollars worth of pre-orders on products who make their money back in 3 days. $1m a day, seems good enough to run the farm yourself.

It comes in a nice grey box with the BFL logo on it. All contents inside are wrapped nicely and professionally.  So no they do not appear used at all as I can attest to helping one be unboxed and setup yesterday (not mine, but someone else who is a long time member here).

I have seen users who have posted they received theirs who have thousands of posts and are active members on this forum everyday. Its all about if you decided to invest.  You can call BFL and talk to them directly.  They have a publicly available address, you can visit them.

If you join their forums on their website they give you more an enough info and are very forthcoming with it.  As of yesterdays shipping post, they have shipped all Jalapeno orders through July 3 2012.  So if you are someone who didnt get on board until a few months ago, it might take a while.  For me, I have had mine on order since July 23 2012 so at their rate, baring any unforeseen production delays, I am hoping to have mine shipped within the next couple of weeks.

You can see the Bitcoin network total hashing rate, so its not like they could have been hiding them doing work as the totals would be the same.  As more and more asic units are going out, the rates are going up, and so is the difficulty (hence the massive jump today).

They are coming through on their units, just not as fast as originally promised, but for those who held on, you will be rewarded.  Trust me, I was one big skeptic myself, but after seeing one in person, now I am just eagerly awaiting mine.

Awesome, good stuff thanks for the post!

Aaaaaaand literally within the last 2 hours my order has moved into "production" status out of "processing"

368  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: running cgminer with different types of cards on same rig on: June 04, 2013, 03:54:44 PM
I personally use a .conf file to list all of my pool and GPU settings.  I can change settings for all cards right in there and works perfectly.
369  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: BFL is shipping on: June 03, 2013, 08:54:13 PM
Just got this:

Thank you for your order from Butterfly Labs! Your order (#2350) was shipped via USPS, USPS Priority Mail on 6/3/2013.

I purchase on 6/27/2012

Well who knows, I might actually see mine before the 4th of July.......
370  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: BFL is shipping on: June 03, 2013, 02:06:34 PM
When did he order? And when did you order?

He ordered around 6/23/12, I ordered about a month later 7/23/12.
371  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: BFL is shipping on: June 03, 2013, 01:22:08 PM
Just saw my first one.  Runlinux who I work with got his in today.  Plugged it in, installed drivers, and BFG Miner picked it up and he was up and running in minutes.  I ordered mine about a month after he did.  Hopefully that means I can get mine by the 4th of July.
372  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Mining behind a proxy? on: May 30, 2013, 02:11:08 PM
Yes, this works just fine.  I have used that same setup before (now I use BAMT, but still bounce my offsite rig off of my home proxy).

What you will need also need is a program called CCProxy that will run on your home rig.  You will also need to setup a new DNS address if you do not have a static IP at home, I use DynDNS.

Basically you will use proxifier to look for a specific program (in this case, CGMiner), and then it will direct that programs traffic to a specific address (web or IP) using an open port that you have declared (I used 443 since we used RDP and that port is open, but not being used).  Once it hits your home (either directly, or via DynDNS) your router will see the incoming info (you will need to set up some port forwarding stuff) and it will direct it to your machine running CCProxy.  CCProxy will see the info coming in, send it the appropriate place, and will send back any info coming back from it.

Its a little more detailed than that, but thats it in a gist.  Its completely doable since I used to do it before switching OS's.

BTW, does your pool support some other port other than 3333?  3333 seems to be the default stratum port for most pools, but I have seen other pools support 80, and even 443 in addition to 3333.  Check that first.  Might be an easier switch if you can use one of those ports that is already opened with your work.

Hi,

I have no problem with the fans, I am just wondering if I am done now with just the cgminer settings or if I still need to over-/underclock something with e.g. MSI Afterburner too.

Do I need to install a SDK? I haven't done this yet, just the drivers.

Thanks!

I suppose it depends on how easy you want it to be to change things around. CG can change all of your settings for your GPU, including voltage.  But in order to change  you need to stop mining and change around your commands.  MSI is really just a simple and easy, GUI based way of doing all of that and can get benefits outside of just mining.  Each card is different, even if its the same exact card as another.  Some can be pushed more than others.

Also, depends on what you are mining.  Mining BTC is different than say LTC.
374  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: BFL is shipping on: May 17, 2013, 01:21:37 PM
I know someone whos status changed this week from "processing" to "production".  Looks like he may be one of the lucky few here soon.
375  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My first rig with 2 7950 and optimization question on: May 16, 2013, 08:49:17 PM
Your fans speed will increase, therefore get louder, when you intensify your mining, increase your GPU clocks/mem clocks, and your cards get hotter.  With those arguments you are telling CGMiner that you want your temps to be 70 or lower.  So, when they get higher, your fans increase to cool them down.
376  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: is it worth installing a 6850 into my mining rig? on: May 13, 2013, 07:29:19 PM
couldn't agree more ... but I think he has "free electricity" as he runs that in "office" Smiley

Exactly.  And since that would be the biggest cost factor, besides hardware (which he already has, and what he needs to get it cheap), then I would say yes, it would be worth it.  Or at least, it wouldnt hurt.
377  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: is it worth installing a 6850 into my mining rig? on: May 13, 2013, 06:04:08 PM
I would say yes. Any extra hashing power you can throw at it is worth it.  You already own the card so its not like you are adding the investment of buying the card, shipping, etc.  If you are just BTC mining with it, you wont even need powered risers (but will if you decide to do LTC), and non-powered risers are dirt cheap.  So really the only investment you will have is your time as you find a way to suspend your card(s) in your case, keep them cool, and do all the tweaks to get optimal performance and stability.
378  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: WARNING: Number of OpenCL and ADL devices did not match! on: May 10, 2013, 03:51:42 PM
Whats OS's require a plug? I know I have had 0 issues with Windows 7 and Windows 8

It really depends on the drivers, more so the OS. When i first started with my 5870, it required to be plugged in.  Then somewhere along the way, around driver 11.9 I think, it stopped needing it.
379  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: WARNING: Number of OpenCL and ADL devices did not match! on: May 10, 2013, 01:14:12 PM
So unfortunately turns out to be a need for a null plug...

I plugged in my monitor, started cgminer, and problems gone.
Restarted without monitor, problem's there.

Yes, looking over things thats probably the problem.  The GPUs I use/the OS that I use does not require monitors to be plugged in, but yours does.  So you will either need to keep it plugged in, or get a dummy plug for it.
380  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: does somebody know about the error "Verification failed, check hardware" on: May 09, 2013, 04:27:08 PM
My apologies on CGminer, I confused myself.  The only thing I can think of is that the 2.8 SDK isnt playing well with that card.  Try uninstalling that and instead go with 2.4 SDK.
