Governments have actually been quite receptive, considering what BTC is. This is a brand new technology, a new asset class. It won't achieve adoption overnight. I think we're doing quite well. That's mystery to me too. Especially USA govt. I think they are digging the hole for themselves, and it's so good they are that stupid. Not just about the bloody US government. For BTC you HAVE to think globally!

I think 50 to 100k is possible in the far away future if a lot of things come together 1m is just a ridiculous number, far too abstract almost
Not rediculous if hyper-inflation occurs...viva le US peso?

So do we have any evidence of current acceptance rate within the general population and is this a global or regional position?

It seems quite obvious that once mBTC is equal to a dollar bill in value, it will then become natural to discuss bitcoin amounts in mBTC rather than BTC.
When? Hopefully never. I don't see this as natural at all -- I don't peg BTC to USD value -- and I think you will find a lot of resistance in establishing that consensus. Personally, I prefer to use BTC, with no prefix necessary. Valid point...The origin of the BTC community and crytpo-currency was to break away from the FIAT mould, not to be shackled at the ankle

I suddenly got a gloomy feeling about the future of fiat currency...anyone else? I got that gloomy feeling back in 1971. Topher, Can you explain what happened with the '71 feeling you had? Was it the oil crisis in the US?

I'm also actually surprised at how much business some of these companies are doing, but then again I'm always surprised people actually want to spend their coins . I hope this encourages expedia to start accepting them for hotel bookings and also encourages other businesses to take the plunge. All these places now accepting BTC use some typa 3rd party yeah ? I can't remember the name of the popular one thats been around a while, bitpay maybe ??
Yep, bitpay http://coinbrief.net/expedia-accepting-bitcoin/A reasonable chunk of coins need to be spent or the BTC economy stagnates and collapses...

I am joining this alt-coin with vigor. I have a 1.5kW solar system installed and am currently designing a dedicated 300W wind turbine + 200W solar system hybrid to run my ASICs (r-box + Jally)

is this a good thing for Cali?
Australia treats BTC as a currency now...including tax by the ATO

The crowbar over current circuit within the PSU is being tripped, known by non-techs as a brown out. Either run just a single antminer or obtain a more efficent power supply of the same rating or get a larger power supply.
I recomend a bigger supply. Trust me , I am an Electrical Engineer.

Question for the floor....
Given obsolescence of older ASIC miners, such as USB erupters, I would like to move them to another location with free electricity (read between the lines here) however location however the PCs require admin rights to install anything, such as cgminer. As I do not have these admin rights, does anyone know of a web page based miner which could be used to run the hardware?
Basically; Internet: Accessible Hardware: Available Power: Free App access: NOT available, need web page to run miners
Anyone got a lead?
