361  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: TrumpCoin is rising ~ Bought 327.173 coins @ $0.27 on: January 18, 2017, 11:19:30 AM
Im sure there will be continued interest in this coin since Trump is about to take office,
(for the novelty factor)
but the real question is- will this coin really have any long-term use?

Personally, I would be very careful.
If you've made some money you should get out while you can.
If you get greedy you risk losing a lot of money if the people operating the pump cash out.
362  Other / Politics & Society / Re: No Pardon for Ross Ulbricht on: January 18, 2017, 02:15:01 AM
I have no problem with the fact he set up a marketplace for drugs,
but if the allegations that he paid to have multiple people killed are true, hes probably not getting a pardon from anyone.

Then again, its hard to believe any of the charges against him when multiple federal agents stole huge sums of Bitcoins during the investigation.
Who knows what type of evidence these crooks would manufacture to cover their own crimes.
There is always the possibility that multiple people were in control of the Dread Pirate Roberts account as well (although unlikely IMO).
363  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Is anyone actually turning a profit with BURST mining? on: January 17, 2017, 11:15:31 PM
I love Burst, its an amazing project with a great GUI wallet and some really cool ideas,
but I'm wondering if anyone out there is actually MAKING money by mining this coin, or if its purely for speculation that the price will go up?
(Price is currently 63 satoshi on Poloniex as I write this.)

Even with the decreasing cost of hard drive storage, you need many Terrabytes of space to get any results.
Hoping someone with a large setup can post their cost of equipment, the amount of coins they are getting, and their expected ROI.
364  Economy / Speculation / Re: UK Exchange Coinfloor Embraces 'No-Fee' Bitcoin Trading on: January 17, 2017, 11:09:36 PM
No fees is actually huge if you trade a lot.
Hopefully the site will be able to sustain themselves and make a profit with their proposed model.
I will definitely be keeping an eye on this exchange. Best of luck to you!
365  Economy / Speculation / Re: Trump inauguration and Bitcoin price on: January 17, 2017, 11:04:25 PM
Trumps trade policies with China may have some effect, depending on what they look like.
Bitcoin is super tied to the price of Chinese currency and investors in that country right now.
Other countries in Asia and the United States play a role but China is still the biggest factor right now.
366  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: January 17, 2017, 10:53:10 PM
Coinbase support would be huge.
I sold everything I own besides Factom and bought back into Monero a few days ago.
These are two of the projects I think have good long term investment potential, personally.
367  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is CHINA CONTROLLING Bitcoin? on: January 17, 2017, 11:30:54 AM
Big time investors are definitely manipulating the price to make money, and a lot of them are Chinese.
If you think this drop from $1100 to sub $800 wasn't partially manufactured, you're fooling yourself.
Smart, powerful people used existing events, spread FUD to further push prices down, and bought tons of cheap Bitcoin that weak investors sold off.
Now price is going back up and they are making a fortune.
368  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price Is Now Moving Up on: January 17, 2017, 11:28:07 AM
These were the great buying opportunities they missed out on in August 2015 and July 2016 and desperately wanted another chance at.

Yes the yearly "China is banning Bitcoin" FUD.
One day people will learn not to sell their Bitcoin at the first sign of trouble. We've been through all this before.
Wise investors know these tactics and will continue to pick up some additional cheap coins.
369  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Confirmation Time is now not a problem at local shops. Buy without any wait on: January 17, 2017, 12:42:53 AM
No vendor is going to let you leave until they actually have the money in their wallet, which means waiting until the transaction has at least a few confirmations.
If bitcoin can come up with some solution for this, it would make it possible to spend in real time in stores.

Unfortunately, for now, this means relying on third-party solutions.
However, even an established company providing escrow by means of prepaid credit cards might be enough to persuade shop owners to accept the payments.
370  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Building a XMR miner.... on: January 17, 2017, 12:39:25 AM
depends on your electricity rate ,modded bios or not modded , pool fee , miner dev fee , the ROI ( return of your investment ) for your setup is over 300 days with today XMR or ETH price.

300 days is not a terrible ROI, especially since both of these coins have the possibility of going up in price over the next few years.
What you earn in a year could be worth double or triple if you are able to make the investment and hold your coins.
371  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: January 17, 2017, 12:31:55 AM
Both XMR and Litecoin being added would not be surprising. Coinbase has said that they want to add multiple coins in the future, and both of these coins will probably be eventually added.
I feel like you are right and the 3-4 month timetable would be appropriate.

Many rumors about Jaxx being released in the next day or two. Wondering if this will have any effect on the price.
372  Economy / Speculation / Re: What will happen to BTC next week ? on: January 16, 2017, 02:16:54 AM
Its only going to take a tiny bit of momentum and I think we could easily get back to the $900 to $1000 range.
Unless there is some really bad news in the next couple weeks, people are going to realize the recent stories about China regulating or banning Bitcoin were just rumour, as usual.
373  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can I store my Bitcoin in My computer ? on: January 15, 2017, 12:40:27 PM
Yes. You can store your btc on your computer without going online. Use bitcoin core wallet or any SPV wallet. Dont use any online wallet especially coinbase. Its not really safe there. Becareful on storing bitcoin on your computer. Your computer must be a clean computer. Just install a good antivirus and install the wallet. I suggest use electrum wallet because its light and easy to use.

You can also boot from a Live CD on an existing computer you have.
If anyone here is doing that I would love to hear your experience and what OS you are using.
I'm assuming most people would use a Linux live CD but I'm wondering if any flavor of Linux offers advantages over another.

Is anyone using the Bitkey live cd/ usb?

374  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: January 15, 2017, 12:35:28 PM
This is probably a small selloff by speculators.
Many people were expecting the price to go up over the last week or two and now that it hasn't, they are selling to invest in other coins.
Unless the price drops another 25% it feels like it will stabilize. Hopefully we get some news over the coming weeks or months about Chinese interest in Monero.
If that happens the price could easily go back up to previous levels or even a new ATH.
375  Economy / Economics / Re: How many BTC will make you a fiat millionaire in 5 years? on: January 15, 2017, 12:31:14 PM
5 years is hard to say.
There could be some big development that would push the price to the $5,000 to $10,000 range,
or it could still be around the $1,000 range.

Its very hard to say in my opinion because we are at a new stage in crypto.
There are finally some decent competitors and coins coming out that provide different uses for spending them like data storage/ verification, game micro-transactions, etc.
Bitcoin probably won't be replaced in the next 5 years but the future looks MUCH different than 2012 to 2017 did.
376  Economy / Speculation / Re: You'll sell at the bottom on: January 15, 2017, 04:40:04 AM
A lot of Bitcoin investors are starting out with a small amount of money and hoping to make some easy profits.
So of course when the price drops a few hundred dollars in a few days it will scare them and shake off any weak investors.
The best plan of course is to hold your coins but its hard not to let emotions come into play when you think you might lose your entire investment.
377  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] Do Altcoin Dev's Deserve Money ? on: January 14, 2017, 04:18:33 PM
If a dev is coming up with something that is truly unique, a step forward for crypto and not just copy-pasting some code from another coin, of course they deserve to be paid.
I don't have a problem with a developer taking a percentage of the profits from a coin to cover development,
but asking for a ton of money up front is suspicious unless you have an established track record of providing development in the crypto market.

Unfortunately, making coins is the hot new scam of the last couple years.
People are getting rich off vaporware, bullshit ICOs etc because new investors are hoping to magically become a millionaire overnight.
For every decent project there are thousands that are complete garbage.
Crypto coins are the new Nigerian Prince scam.
378  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How recover bitcoin wallet 2009??? on: January 14, 2017, 03:13:46 PM
If you've been using this same hard drive for years, formatted it multiple times and written data to it, even a data recovery specialist won't be able to recover the wallet.
Your only hope would be a backup of the wallet on another hard drive or CD/DVD.
I would be trying to find that disk since it would be worth to a Million dollars if you really had a wallet with 1,000 bitcoin in it...
379  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: January 14, 2017, 02:34:01 PM
MyMonero appears to be back up.

Let's see if the price follows....

Yeah just logged in and checked my balance. The 2 XMR i had on that address are still there.
Maybe everyone will stop crying about the "exit scam" now.
Watching the price today as the US wakes up. Lets see if there is any positive movement.
380  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: can't access mymonero.com how do i retrieve my Monero? on: January 13, 2017, 11:24:27 PM
Rumour is youre a fucking retard if you can't figure out how to download a wallet and import your keys.
