Bitcoin Gold? Distributed to investors or should we pull out before the airdrop?
I am not sure about Bitcoin Gold yet. Distributing forked coins takes quite a lot of effort and actually and even with Bitcoin Cash it was not our priority. Initially I was more like: "let it go, it's another shitcoin", but you cannot really neglect the fact it did gain some value, so finally we dwcided to distribute BCH to our users. My initial statement is: if Bitcoin Gold is a stable fork, we will distribute Bitcoin Gold coins to our users, but it will not be our priority. If we do, we'll do it in a way similar to how we distributed Bitcoin Cash.But watch this thread, I'll keep you updated! Cheers, Ethan |

Ethan, what's the site's stance on 2x? If possible, will we be able to split tokens like with BCH? Do I need to take out my investment to hold my own coins for a while to deal with this? Thanks
I am still watching the situation. If nothing changes, things might get much more dirty than with BCH since 2x was not designed to create a separate coin, but to "improve the Bitcoin itself". I can see companies getting out of NYA so it's hard to say now what will happen. There is no (and probably will not be) a mechanism for replay protection. This would make separating the coins much more difficult. You know, Segwit2x is not really about the size of a block. It's about control over Bitcoin. And unless all parties (Core and NYA supporters) find a common ground, things can go ugly - much uglier than with the BCH hard fork. Anyway, I am watching the situation. I'll keep you informed! Nice competition will try some rolls for sure, let me ask you for a clarification: is leaderboard automated or do we have to submit our roll results to be listed on it?
It's completely automated, you don't have to submit anything. Everyone is automatically entered and tracked on the leaderboard.  Isn't too easy? You don't need to watching each your bet and you only need to run automated bot and hunt for 0. Why is that a problem? It's a competition, it's supposed to be easy for people to participate. Using a bot or manually betting doesn't matter. If we asked people to submit their numbers we'd have literally hundreds of submissions to count and process and it would take hours to get anything done. I really doubt anyone wants to watch thousands if not tens of thousands of their own bets. This way people can track their progression and competition as it's updated live every few minutes. I'm sorry, but I fail to see a downside. Honestly I coded the automated bet tracking because I was too lazy to verify all submitted bets. Our very first "number hunt competition" required all players to manually submit their bets to a BitcoinTalk thread, but it was really painfull for me and Randall to verify the bets and select the winners manually. It was really hard to keep track of the competition. With auto-leaderboard everyone can see the current results, see their own winning bets and it just tells us who won when the competition is over. Hi, I think I can share this information, it does not reveal any private data. I checked the number of investors agains the total invested amounts. And... There are 20 investors that have investments of total 5 BTC or more (each). There are 14 investors that have investments of total 10 BTC or more (each). There are 8 investors that have investments of total 15 BTC or more (each). Some investors (me included) seem to hold multiple investments open. Regarding the future profits and "can someone win a lot" question - everything can happen. The math is on our side, site has 1% advantage over the players, but max bet profit is over 14 BTC right now (it's almost 2.5% of tha bankroll), because most of investments are at x10 leverage. While it seems unlikely that profit will turn negative, a high roller can decide to play really high and if he/she wins... On the other hand, any player can lose too, and in such a case the profit grows. See January 2017 when the site profit grew from -5 BTC to almost 50 BTC. Other than that, see how the daily wagered amount is increasing over time. For me it's one of the most important factors that determines the site growth. So even if site profit drops, I can sleep assured it will recover at some point. YD has a group of dedicated players and new players are getting aboard, so while I don't think it would be honest to tell you to "put all your money into YD", I can honestly say I have put all my BTC savings into the bankroll (most at x10 leverage). Could one reccommend an android bot for yolodice?
What do you mean? Do they even have a mobile apps? I believe they have a good bot which is really fast on pc, and to make it on android version, there is none exist. So if you want to do things about their bot, try on their pc mode, it is really fast and without stopping as far as I ever used it We don't have a mobile app, but if you open YOLOdice website in Chrome, and then chose "Add to home screen" from the page options, it will actually install YD in a way similar to a native app. I am using it like this and it's way better than using YD from the browser. I've made a small command line program leveraging my Node.js API wrapper. You can download it here. Please note that you must have Node.js installed to use it. 1. Download and extract the files into their own directory. 2. In the text editor of your choice, edit app.js and edit the text near the top that says YOUR_API_KEY and replace it with your bitcoin private key from the API. If you haven't made an API key yet, you can do this under your account settings. 3. Open up a command prompt/terminal in that directory and run 4. When you're ready to run it, run Here's what it looks like:   Basically it only makes bets and can read your investments back to you, but it could gain more functionality in the future if there is demand. Ethan, a small change I would appreciate is a couple modals would be a little smoother if they auto focused the text input box, the one that comes to mind is the tip dialog with 2FA enabled. (Just a QoL change because sometimes there's only a few seconds left on the OTP when I pull out the app and then I fumble around and misclick trying to hit the input box). (Basically I'm saying I'm clumsy).
This has been annoying me for a long time, I am glad it was not only me. I have fixed this as follows: * when 2FA field is the only form element in the popup, it gets focus automatically * 2FA fields should react to Enter key presses when they have focus I have improved several popups to have this behavior, if I missed some, let me know! Also, I'm not sure if it's intentional but the color is slightly different on the user's own name when being mentioned than when shown when the user types in a command (#ff0000 in the mention vs #e83900 in the command)

Probably because some withdraws use more inputs and therefore need a larger fee. It should all balance out in the end, as I don't think ethan's intention is to make profit from withdraws. It could also be because they switched to segwit addresses which have a smaller transaction size inside blocks compared to traditional addresses, and YOLOdice hasn't adjusted the fee that is charged to players yet. Your withdraw is probably 1 input -> 2 outputs, and some might be 10 inputs -> 2 outputs. Indeed, our flat withdrawal fee the average what we pay as a network fee. Occasional there are transaction that spend 10 inputs or more. Not to mention, when the mempool is full, the network fee jumps significantly. We've seen transactions with over 0.01 in fees, we still charged the user only 0.0007 flat fee. However, if the average network fee drops (I hope it does), we'll lower the fee. One suggestion I really hope you take on board is to allow those who have invested in the site (like me) to be able to retrieve the faucets and 'rain' that's offered. After all, part of the profits from the investments are used to pay for this stuff., there's no reason to disadvantage investors, and occasionally i'd like to get the small amount of coins to play around with betting.
I know you say players will abuse this but the easiest way around this is to introduce a small divest fee that say, is removed should the investment me opened longer than x number of days. That would stop the abuse and I'm sure investors would be happy with that.
Investors can already get the rain Indeed. Investors can participate in Chat games (run by our bot HAL), but I don't want to make investments more complex by adding extra restrictions. One thing you can do is to have one account for investing and another one to play. I know this is incovinient, but right now it's the only way. Cheers, Ethan |

I have just enabled full Segwit support in YOLOdice. I am using the code from my first post to generate segwit change addresses and it seems to work fine. The only thing I added was a global lock so that no two processes create a withdrawal - this is to avoid race condition while using fundrawtransaction.
As I said earlier, this method has one disadvantage - it creates extra entries returned by "listtransactions" and an extra entry for "gettransaction" details because the change output is treated as a 1st class transfer now.
Anyway, it works find for me. My rationale to get early on the segwit bandwagon is mostly to reduce fees.

YES, starting today YOLOdice fully supports Segwit! Here's what it means in details: 1. Everyone just got a new Segwit (P2SH-P2WPKH) deposit address (that starts with 3...). Old addresses are and will be working too! 2. Most of our Hot Wallet funds will be moved to Segwit addresses. 3. Hopefully this opens a way for cheaper withdrawals and saves us from bloated mempool issues. Cheers, Ethan |

Hello Ethan, unless I'm misunderstanding something, I think investors are not getting a pretty good deal when investing in Yolodice.
It says that profits are taxes 35% in both of the following cases:
- On Sunday evening (on any profit accrued)
- When the investment is closed.
So let's say my investment generates a profit of 0.5BTC for the week and leave the investment open. 0.175BTC will be taken as tax on Sunday evening leaving me with a remaining profit of 0.325BTC.
Now lets say next week some wagerers get lucky and my investment loses 0.5BTC. My investment is now in the red -0.175BTC. I don't get taxed. Fine.
The following week the investment ends up 0.5BTC in the green. My investment is now worth (-0.175 + 0.5 = 0.325BTC) 0.325 again, however now since I made 0.325, that get's taxed 35% leaving me with 0.21125.
So what actually happened was (week 1) +0.5BTC (week 2) 0 BTC (week 3) +0.5BTC
And my investment becomes (week 1) 0.325BTC (week 2) -0.175 BTC (week 3) 0.21125.
The owner takes 57% of the profits making it impossible for me to profit.
Ethan, you say taxes are only taken from amounts not already taxed, but what if the amount taxed is lost and then remade, do you tax it again?
Please clarify that above, I really don't know why you need to take tax off every week. It would make much more sense to me to take the tax off ONLY when the investment is closed..
When commission is taken on the investment, you can see if you click on the investment with the rest of the details what profit the commission was taken up to. So in your example, when you get commission taken the first time, your investment will have a label on it saying that commission was taken up to 0.325 profit. Then, when you lose 0.5 BTC and then get 0.5 BTC back in your example, you still end up at 0.325 BTC net profit, and no more commission is taken because you have not passed your "marker" for commission which is still at that point. Say then your investment grows another 0.5 BTC up to 0.825 BTC profit and then Sunday rolls around and commission is taken again, it would only be taken on the part that has not yet been commissioned, the profit between 0.325 and 0.825 BTC. 0.175 BTC would be taken in commission and your investment would then be 0.65 BTC and the "marker" for commission would then also move up to 0.65 BTC. You can see that when you've made 1 BTC net profit before commission, it's still 35% even if your investment falls in the meantime. Hi, I am back from my holiday trip and I am back for good. Regarding the investments, the principle is pretty easy: the investment profit is taxed only once. We don't take commission from the same profit twice. So if your investment starts with 2 BTC value and ends with 3 BTC value, and it's not higher than 3 BTC on Sundays when we run global commission, it doesn't matter what happens in between.
