3661  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What did you learned about Bitcoin today...? on: March 27, 2015, 07:02:12 PM
I have learned a lot of things about political, economy, anarchism, capitalism, freedom, humanity and mathematic. The most important thing is that I have "gained" a lot of new friends and I am happy to have discovered bitcoin (and I hope that one day I can convince my Dad to start think about Bitcoin).
3662  Economy / Economics / Re: destroying bitcoins on: March 27, 2015, 06:28:43 PM
I suggest the OP and all we to buy more bitcoin, this is the only valid way for increase the price (or better) the value of bitcoin itself. Destroy it will not raise the value (or at least not now, maybe in the next 20-25 years).

Buy more bitcoins if you have money you can afford to lose. I suggested 'spend bitcoins', even thought many merchants will sell those coins (Overstock keeps 10% in Bitcoin IIRC) - if they are seeing increased sales they will probably recommend Bitcoin --> increases the chance of more people using it.
The thing is most people don't see buying stuff with bitcoin as worth it when they can buy the exact same things with fiat, because fiat will not go up and bitcoin will go up, so whats the point.

This is a temporary condition, in the future the price will be more stationary and I think bitcoin will be used for alternative things (also now it is used for these things) like send payment from one city to another city (almost with zero/0 fee) and with the rapidity and security that the FIAT money can't give. The point to use bitcoin (at the end) is to be revolutionary and create a new economy better (I hope) than the actual one, based on corruption and thieves.
3663  Economy / Lending / Re: Need 0.3 BTC on: March 27, 2015, 06:08:30 PM
Hello,

I realize I'm new, but I have recently closed a loan as paid in full on time and am looking to see if I could get another loan.

I could offer my chexvictims.co domain as collateral, I could either give you my GoDaddy password or transfer it to someone temporarily.

The terms is that I would pay the loan off on 4/3/2015, and would give .4 BTC repayment.

I realize I have negative feedback, but Quickseller was rather quick to leave negative feedback in another thread.  If they wishes to remove his negative feedback I gladly remove mine.  As there negative feedback had nothing to do with a trade, as much as someone already not willing to see how the thread would go.

If you will give a valid collateral I can help you with "this loan" but I don't want to run a risk... so first provide a valid collateral and after ask the loan. Thanks for the attention.
3664  Other / Politics & Society / Boko Haram HQ Gwoza in Nigeria 'retaken' on: March 27, 2015, 05:25:57 PM
The Nigerian army says it has retaken the north-eastern town of Gwoza, believed to be the headquarters of militant Islamist group Boko Haram.
The insurgents had now been driven from virtually all the territory they had held, it said. Some militants were now fleeing towards border areas, the military said. News of Gwoza's recapture comes a day before presidential elections, which were postponed by six weeks because of the offensive against Boko Haram. Meanwhile, the president of Chad, which is helping Nigeria fight Boko Haram, has strongly criticised Nigeria's military.
Thousands of people have been killed since 2009, when the group began its insurgency to create an Islamic state. An estimated three million people have fled their homes because of the unrest, and many may be unable to vote.

I hope the nigerian army will destroy those terrorists, they are the ruin of the humanity and obviously not muslims.
3665  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sheep Market owner arrested! on: March 27, 2015, 05:15:05 PM

Finally a good news for the bitcoin community, I hope they will put him in the jail for a long time (looooong). 40 mln of dollars is an huge sum of money, and finally he was caught after ~2 years.

Finally, someone gets arrested for running a scam. He definitely deserved this. Hopefully more bad guys will be caught in the future.
Just look at Karpeles, still a free man.

karpeles will never go to the jail, also if he has lost 850k bitcoin (more than 40 mln of dollars  Roll Eyes).

i want easy way that i get me easy bitcoin: example this > https://coin-rise.com/ ponzi but  Wink

It doesn't exist an easy wat to "make" or receive some money for free, you should make something or offer a service to the community. Can I ask you what are your skill and what can you do? However as the user Amph said: you can try to join a signature campaign (this is an interesting thread with a lot of sig. campaign : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=615953.0) and give an help to the community.
3667  Other / Politics & Society / Re: France plane crash: No survivors expected [Condolences to the families] on: March 27, 2015, 02:12:47 PM
I do not hate muslims, and have started no complaints on such.  In fact I do not agree with the writer that "Islam is a terrorist organization"  (for practical reasons.)  It isn't predictive as an assertion.

However we know that men of a certain age group, affiliated with certain radical Muslim belief sets, are a direct threat.  If you do not like an unpleasant real world perspective, tough.  Let's see what the latest news is on the subject.

A German news website claims Andreas Lubitz was a Muslim convert.
Speisa.com reported:

According to Michael Mannheimer, a writer for German PI-News, Germany now has its own 9/11, thanks to the convert to Islam, Andreas Lubitz.

Translation from German:

All evidence indicates that the copilot of Airbus machine in his six-months break during his training as a pilot in Germanwings, converted to Islam and subsequently either by the order of “radical”, ie. devout Muslims , or received the order from the book of terror, the Quran, on his own accord decided to carry out this mass murder. As a radical mosque in Bremen is in the center of the investigation, in which the convert was staying often, it can be assumed that he – as Mohammed Atta, in the attack against New York – received his instructions directly from the immediate vicinity of the mosque.

Converts are the most important weapon of Islam. Because their resume do not suggests that they often are particularly violent Muslims. Thus Germany now has its own 9/11, but in a reduced form. And so it is clear that Islam is a terrorist organization that are in accordance with §129a of the Criminal Code to prohibit it and to investigate its followers. But nothing will happen. One can bet that the apologists (media, politics, “Islamic Scholars”) will agree to assign this an act of a “mentally unstable” man, and you can bet that now, once again the mantra of how supposedly peaceful Islam is will continue. And worse still, the attacks by the left against those who have always warned against Islam, will be angrier and merciless.

Please can you stop? Thanks.

The news report says they found "an item of significance" in the guy's apartment.

It will all come out within a few days.  Obviously, it's impossible to suppress his religion and personal life since his name is known.

They found a suicide note.

Well, BBC isn't very reliable but they wrote the opposite: "Prosecutors said there was no evidence of a political or religious motive to his actions, and no suicide note was found." But they wrote about some torn sick notes in his apartment what suggests that he wasn't fit for flying.

I read that too. And a German newspaper said he had psychological problems and had been under psychiatric treatment for 18 months.
And recently that he had a breakup with his girlfriend. : /

So most probably wasn't a religion reason, he was only affected by a psychiatric pathology and he has committed only a suicide without any religion purpose.

3669  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is it safe to keep your coins in Bitstamp? on: March 27, 2015, 01:27:06 PM
As the title asks, is it safe to store your coins in Bitstamp's online wallet?

I also don't suggest you to keep 1 satoshi in any exchange, I always recommend to send the coin/s >> exchange them for FIAT (or viceversa) and withdraw it/them fastly (less then 10 minutes of work).
Have you heard about the various hack (firstly the mt.gox , the huge loss of 850'000 btc) and bitstamp, bter, etc ?
you dont need to withdraw it 10 minutes after you can keep it for a few days in my opinion as those problems dont happen too often

No, I don't trust any exchange to keep my bitcoin. Because an exchange is not a bank, wake up! Bitcoin is another thing, as a lot of users said : be your own bank. Don't be a stupid and don't keep never your coin on an exchange, it is not safe for (obviously) you and all the ecosystem.
3670  Other / Meta / Re: Show the exact time a trust rating was left on: March 27, 2015, 01:23:55 PM
I think that just showing the date isn't enough. Hours and minutes would be useful.

Can I ask you why do you want also to see the hours and minutes? In my personal opinion it is not necessary and obviously not of primary importance (but this is only my personal opinion).

3672  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do you use PayPal to convert Bitcoins? on: March 27, 2015, 10:58:06 AM
If I can reply, I don't use paypal when I manage some to sell or buy some bitcoin (here in the forum I have bought/sold bitcoin for paypal only 2 times, and especially only with trusted users). I have heard about some problem with it, because if you write "bitcoin" or "cryptocurrency" in a paypal dispute they will bock both the accounts (of the buyer & seller) for ~ 180 days. So at the end it is not "wise" use paypal as method of payment.

Hey guys, here's a bit of an update on this project. He broke our agreement and cut me off after receiving a png of the project. Walking away with my intellectual property, without paying the security deposit I requested. I have worked 10+ hours on his project making silly revisions and tweaks.

I've been had. But will learn from my mistakes.

Here's the accusation thread for the morbidly curious.

Why didn't you choose to use an escrow Roll Eyes? This is the inconvenience and I hope he will pay these +10 hours of hard work. Good luck with your battle.
3674  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is a NODE on: March 27, 2015, 09:25:14 AM
The most basic I can think of is they keep the blockchain going. The more nodes the more security for BTC.

With a little googling here is a little more in depth: https://bitcoin.org/en/full-node#what-is-a-full-node

So it is kinda like a server that host the bitcoin network? Thanks for the link btw.

Not a problem at all.

In a way yes.  They keep the history or the blockchain from beginning of bitcoin to present.   When you spend BTC it is broadcast to these nodes that make sure it is a valid transaction.  Valid meaning the address really does have BTC to send, and also that they are not sending it to multiple places at once (double spend).

This is part of the reason you wait on conformations with sending BTC.  It slowly moves through the nodes.

So when you have a local wallet with the block chain on it is your pc becoming a node? or is it just so you have the option of making the node in the future?

If you are running a full client then yes.  Light wallets don't become nodes.

You should also allow >8 connection (open the TCP port 8333) to your "node" to become a valid &full operative bitcoin node. See this 2 topics for more information :

Reducing supply does not  necessarily mean it will maintain or increase demand.

If you want to have a positive impact on the Bitcoin economy spend some coins.

I suggest the OP and all we to buy more bitcoin, this is the only valid way for increase the price (or better) the value of bitcoin itself. Destroy it will not raise the value (or at least not now, maybe in the next 20-25 years).

Did anyone else notice it says "stake"? I'm sure I read this thread a few days ago and thought it said "state".

I read steak, but that's probably just my beef obsession kicking in.

Another update :

2015-03-26 08:36 UTC

We apologize everyone, and thank you all for your understanding.

Attacker acted in hours from 3:15 to 10:00 UTC.

Cryptoine database is reversed to 2015-03-24 03:08 UTC and frozen.

In response to many questions...

There was no break-in to the system
There was no leak of data
Wallet private keys are safe and not compromised
The attacker was not able to execute any external code
The bug has been located and fixed. However, the losses are irreversible. We plan to complete the activity of exchange.

We will enable withdrawals in April 2015.

It's sad to say goodbye to all crypto-community. We need to take a few months break. But we will back stronger and more experienced than ever before.

Germanwings flight 4U9525 deliberately flown into mountain, says prosecutor

http://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/mar/26/germanwings-flight-4u9525-deliberately-flown-into-mountain-says-prosecutor

<< The co-pilot of the Germanwings plane that crashed in the French Alps on Tuesday, killing 150 people, appears to have deliberately flown it into a mountain after locking the flight captain out of the cockpit. During the last eight minutes of the flight, the co-pilot "voluntarily" carried out actions that led to the destruction of the aircraft, Brice Robin, a French public prosecutor, said at a press conference in Marseille.

Citing evidence from a cockpit voice recorder recovered from the Airbus A320, Robin outlined the last moments of the doomed plane in a chilling account of the actions of the co-pilot, whom he named as 28-year-old Andreas Lubitz. Robin said Lubitz could be heard breathing right up until the point of impact, suggesting he had not lost consciousness. However, he failed to respond to increasingly desperate calls from the captain trying to break down the cockpit door, or to air traffic controllers. Passengers could be heard screaming just before the crash, Robin said. >>

Is there any indication if it was religiously motivated?

Updated: 26 March 2015

MARSEILLE, France -- Barely a day after the New York Times reported that the voice recorder of Flight 9525 revealed the pilot banging on the door to get back into the cockpit, authorities have released the name of the presumably suicidal co-pilot, and happily, his first name is not "al-".

French prosecutor Brice Robin said that co-pilot Andreas Lubitz, 29, was initially "courteous," though when the captain asked about going for lunch after the flight, Lubitz gave a cryptic reply about preferring virgins.

Evidently, the pilot left for the toilet (für gepißßing) and the co-pilot locked the door, hardened cockpit doors being an innovation adopted after the last time a plane was intentionally crashed. The Airbus A320 is designed with safeguards to allow emergency entry into the cockpit — which can never be used by anyone who does not belong inside to begin with — but the override code is disabled in the case of a co-pilot desiring to commit mass murder and suicide.

Standard U.S. operating procedure is not to leave the co-pilot alone in the cockpit but to put a stewardess inside, because she is never a jihadi, as of course the co-pilot is not either.

Mr. al-Lubitz was a veteran flier who had flown thousands of flights without ending any of them in the side of a mountain. But Mr. Robin refused to disclose the co-pilot's religion.

Yeah, it'll most likely shape up into yet another Allah Akbar.

Please don't start another complaint : "I hate muslims" , because this not the correct thread. Thanks for the attention and also (why not) for your opinion.
3680  Other / Politics & Society / Pope faces protests by sex abuse board against bishop's appointment on: March 26, 2015, 06:53:19 PM
Several members of Pope Francis’s sex abuse advisory board have expressed concern and incredulity over his decision to appoint a Chilean bishop to a diocese despite allegations that he covered up for the South American nation’s most notorious paedophile. In interviews and emails with Associated Press, the experts have questioned the pope’s pledge to hold bishops accountable and keep children safe, given the record of Bishop Juan Barros in the case of the Rev Fernando Karadima. The five commission members spoke to AP in their personal and professional capacities and stressed that they were not speaking on behalf of the commission, which Francis formed in late 2013 and named Cardinal Seán O’Malley, archbishop of Boston, to head.
