I agree that newbies should have basic knowledge about investing in bitcoin or cryptocurrency in general before jumping in. After that, they need to find a mentor or interact in a group discussion or forum to help them get used to both the written and unwritten rules regarding the crypto world. It's not so they can be dependant with other's opinion, but to shape their own skills in analyzing, take decision etc. I think most of us learn about the depth of the crypto world by experiencing it ourselves or learning from others' mistakes so it's important to mingle with crypto communities too. All of these knowledge and experiences cognitively and emotionally will shape our mentality. For me, it's not about mentally prepared or not but more like maturity along the journey

ckckck memang sulit untuk mewujudkan anonimitas di dunia crypto, karena ini pasti akan bertentangan dengan kepentingan dan kebijakan pemerintah di negara manapun. Ini juga yang membuat proyek-proyek yang menawarkan privasi di dunia crypto seperti Monero, Zcash dll seperti diawasi pemerintah karena dikhawatirkan bisa melancarkan usaha pencucian uang. Bahkan, pemerintah Amerika pernah mengadakan bounty bagi mereka yang bisa memecahkan kriptografi jaringan Monero sumber.Tolong koreksi bila saya salah, tetapi kenapa saya melihat sepertinya koin-koin privasi ini tidak sepopuler dan sulit berkembang bila dibandingkan dengan proyek-proyek lain akibat ditekan pemerintah?. |

Investasi kripto, mulai dari mana? hmm sepertinya mulai dari mengenali profil diri sendiri dulu. Mau short term atau long term, pemain dengan resiko tinggi, menengah atau rendah, dll. Misal, kalo mau short term dan pengambil resiko tinggi bisa coba proyek-proyek baru yang memiliki potensi profit berkali-kali lipat, kalo tipe yang long term dan ga suka ambil resiko tinggi bisa invest di proyek top list di coinmarketcap yang sudah lebih stabil. Seminar seperti ini mungkin ada bagusnya, tapi sepertinya akan lebih mantap kalau learning by doing. Selalu ingat, kalau mau invest di crypto harus selalu DYOR (Do your own research) alias cari tahu sendiri dan analisis sendiri, jangan bergantung pada ajakan, bujuk rayu, atau sinyal dari orang lain.

kenapa tidak, gan? kalau ada kemauan di situ pasti ada jalan. Agan sendiri menggunakan kata "menekuni" crypto, memang harus punya ketekunan untuk mengejar ketertinggalan. Jangan khawatir, gan di masa sekarang ini kan kita lebih dipermudah dengan kemajuan teknologi. Belajar bisa dari mana saja, apalagi kalo agan bergaul dengan orang-orang tepat yang bisa menambah wawasan, pasti akan lebih cepat untuk mengejar ketertinggalan itu. Saya sendiri juga sempat hiatus dan baru terjun kembali di 2021 kemarin. Ketika awal comeback juga kebingungan tentang BSC dan kawan-kawannya hehe tapi dari tidak tahu kan kita mencari tahu, supaya jadi tahu. Tetap semangat, gan.

Okay, I got so much insight from reading replies in this thread. Without too much knowledge before, I used to use USDT many times and feel comfortable with it. I never faced difficulty or trouble when I used it so I choose USDT. I've ever thought to keep my money in stablecoins before to see how the banking system is actually not that secure, but after reading this thread I think I should reconsider keeping my money in stablecoins. Just like many people said here, a stablecoin is good for transactions but not to hold, moreover in long term.

I don't know. There are some bad news and rumors arising in September. There is a rumor that FED will increase the interest rates by 100 points by next week. It can affect the market price again, and suppression in price may happen following the news. Bitcoin price could resume its downtrend if the FED keeps on hiking rates against the prospects of a rising unemployment rate. Bad news also came from South Korea. It is reported that the South Korean court issued an arrest warrant for Do Kwon, the Terra co-founder https://www.coindesk.com/business/2022/09/14/s-korean-court-issues-arrest-warrant-against-terra-co-founder-do-kwon-report/. Throughout the years I have just been holding bitcoin and ethereum in a non-custodial wallet but now I have decided to diversify my portfolio.
There are a lot of potential altcoins out there and I have picked up a few. Storing altcoins on an exchange id obviously not the right thing to do.
While I know that hardware wallet would be the best place to store altcoins I want to know other options as well exactly, it's so risky to keep your assets in the exchangers in the long term. The hardware wallet indeed is the best option for now. It's ideal actually. 1. For now, I have been thinking to store them on a non-custodial wallet but then again which wallet should it be ? My choice would be Exodus but let me know which one is best.
2. Would it better to store different altcoins in different wallets or decrease the hassle of maintaining different wallets and settle down with just one with all the coins However, if you want to use the non-custodial one, I suggest using different wallets with different seeds or private keys. IMHO, In the crypto world, primarily related to security, the more hassle for you to keep it safe, the better. I mean to diversify your assets and diverse, your wallet will help when bad things happen. At least, it won't disappear simultaneously. I have several wallets with several addresses from trust wallet and imtoken, and each wallet from each chain like tronlink pro, LOBSTR, etc to diversify my assets. The most important thing, of course, is to secure the private key well. |

Since cryptocurrency became so popular, and shocked people with its volatility, more people jump in to gain the opportunity either to invest or become developers. Back then, both can earn a lot of money. Until then Ethereum came with its smart contract that makes whoever can build their own projects with their own tokens. People were competing to sell their projects without any proper preparation just to end failure. Or, actually, they have an ill intention from the beginning. They suck money from investors and abandon the projects (scammed) after gaining money as they expected. It's kinda halted by the expansiveness of Ethereum gas, but then came the solution like BSC and Polygon that continues the madness. I hope the crypto world becomes mature along the way and scam projects will decrease.
