Jessy, do me a personal favour and don't ever complement Karmicads again. That was the longest post I've ever seen in a forum.  Tongue
382  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Whore Madam too Conservative to use bitcoin on: June 21, 2011, 08:31:40 AM
Typical left-liberal that thinks anything inside the bedroom between two consenting adults is acceptable but as soon as they leave the bedroom, all bets are off.

Are you referring to me or her?

Hahaha, this is awesome. Are you a "her" as well? It sounds to me like bitcoin2cash was referring to Ms Kang. I think it's hilarious that she (Ms Kang) is worried that the "crazy libertarians" are going to scare off her clients. Time to go check out the posts.  Smiley
383  Economy / Economics / Re: F**K the Exchanges! The real state of the nation. on: June 21, 2011, 08:20:06 AM
Thank you for the positive perspective. I still don't understand why one exchange going down causes so many people to panic and prophesy doom for the futures of bitcoins. Though I won't complain when I buy up all their bit coins for discounted prices.... Cheesy
384  Economy / Economics / Re: The Labor Theory of Money w/ regards to Microeconomics... on: June 21, 2011, 08:16:30 AM
That's more accurately described as a labor theory of cost.  Value is subjective.  Labor has nothing to do with it.

Bingo.  Labor theory of value is only useful as a lower bound on cost.  And even then, only when "labor" is defined as "thermodynamic work".

Otherwise it is the most totally and completely worthless theory of anything ever to gain widespread acceptance.

Well, I'm sure we can think of worse, but point taken.  Smiley. (Flat earth, spontaneous generation, etc.)

The Labour Theory of Value is still referred to today, if not by economists, by the common man in mundane speech.  I was trying to explain to my wife the other day about where the market price of houses come from. It's easy to think that putting some amount of physical labour into something gives it an "intrinsic" value.
385  Economy / Economics / Re: Read this before having an opinion on economics on: June 21, 2011, 08:08:32 AM
I usually recommend Lessons for the Young Economist & perhaps The Law. Hazlitt is great too but might be a bit complex for people with zero understanding of economics.

I love The Law, that is to say, the Bastiat essay.  Smiley. I have not read Lessons for the Young Economist but have heard high praises of it. Perhaps I'll read it to take a break from Mises' brilliant, but daunting, Human Action.
386  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What mtgox number are you? (from DB leak) on: June 20, 2011, 07:13:54 AM
Hey anyone want to do me a favor and look "The Script" up on the list? I'm on my iPad at home, 3G Internet and I can't download the csv file but I'm curious what number I am at. I'm guessing less than 3000
387  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: DIRECT DOWNLOAD LINK FOR LEAKED MT. GOX ACCOUNT DATABASE (CSV FILE) on: June 20, 2011, 06:11:48 AM
i woke up this morning to see my email account was taken over.. everyone on that list should assume the passwords have been compromised - i have since retaken over my account

I think someone tried to get into mine, which may mean my hashed password on the list was cracked? Gmail reported "suspicious activity" when I logged in this evening. You can be sure that I changed my password and that this will be prompting me to take a closer look at ALL my computer security protocols and settings. Perhaps this is a good wake up for the community, up til now a lot of people have not taken their bitcoin security very seriously.
388  Economy / Economics / Re: economics sub-board should be removed on: June 19, 2011, 06:09:55 PM
The economics board is, in my experience, trolls trolling trolls. There are two groups of people:

1) People who don't know their economics but feel the need to voice their opinions.
2) People who know their economics and deliberately try to deceive for personal gain.

I'll let you decide what the ratio is.

That's a rather dour outlook on things. Is it so hard to believe that there are people who sincerely want to learn and discuss economics?

Anywayyyy...

Has anyone handled a bitbill yet?

Not yet. I thought about buying some to give family members to try to get them interested in bitcoins, but then the price went up and up and now I cant afford to.  Tongue

I'm monitoring the bitcoin exchange rate and I think, the rate will go down again Smiley Just be patient

How low?  Based on what logic/statistics/instinct?  I'm curious.  Smiley

I am a fairly established member on the forum as I have been signed up and posting since January.  You appear to be new, what is your Bitcoin story?  Smiley

So is it the posting or the length of time here, that makes you more trustworthy?

Neither. I said "established".  Wink Ideally a good rating in the trading forum would be criteria for trustworthiness, but thte fact that I've been around for a while probably means I'm not a scammer. Other than that it's up to you to get to know me, read my posts and decide for yourself.

Libertarians that use the iPad? Are you kidding?

It was a wedding present, and I've jail-broken it. Don't be a hater.  Smiley

I would be interested in purchasing some of those, AndGui, however it might take me a couple days to get funds to my PayPal account.  I am a fairly established member on the forum as I have been signed up and posting since January.  You appear to be new, what is your Bitcoin story?  Smiley
395  Other / Politics & Society / Re: I will admit something... on: June 16, 2011, 01:07:47 AM
If forcing people to give a cut of their labor to a central authority and using it to provide 'non-profit' universal services to all worked sustainably and provided happiness and prosperity for all, I would happily condone it.
It isn't about "for all", as that's a silly standard. It needs to be, at minimum, for the majority, and ideally, to maximize utility.

How do you know you are maximizing utility?  Who's utility? How do you measure it?  Value is subjective.

Taxing the population decreases utility of those taxed, and is justified by the premise that it will increase their utility overall.  But how do you know it will?  How do you prove that?  Because value is subjective individuals are the only ones qualified to decide what will best make them happy.
396  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: There will be blood. on: June 15, 2011, 10:30:04 AM
I am not aware of any entities that have a monopoly on force.

What if I add "within a specific geographic location"?

What's part of the definition of monopoly, by the way.

I suppose it would be implied, yes, you are right.
397  Other / Off-topic / Re: The Liberty Portal - iOS app for Libertarianism and Austrian economics. on: June 15, 2011, 10:24:34 AM
Sweet!  It's on my iPad now.  I sent you a small BTC donation to show my support and appreciation.  The world's first libertarian app?
398  Other / Off-topic / Re: pronz.com hacked! Check if your Email adress is on the net !!! on: June 15, 2011, 10:17:44 AM

399  Other / Off-topic / Re: New BitCoin Comic on: June 15, 2011, 10:15:21 AM
You, Sir, are brilliant!  I laughed my ass off at the Alpaca one and the "Bitcon" site.  Hilarious!  I am very bitcoin poor but sent you a small donation to show that I appreciate and support your work!

You should make one about bitcoins and carrots!  Smiley

Damn, that's like $3000!  He could use that to put together a couple really good mining rigs, and then get even MORE bitcoins!  Smiley
