Was wondering if there are any active colorado bitcoiners around here? Would love to setup some sort of a monthly meetup with fellow enthusiasts.

200 BTC sended please check !
I wonder if people don't realize how easy it would be to find their TX based on timing and login to their bitcoin max account, or track how much they deposit over time. This has already been discussed. Is anyone concerned, in terms of security, with the current website login of:
username: <forum name> password: <deposit address>
Just thinking out loud, but taking an example, let's say we know someone sent 45 BTC on or before a specific date/time. We know who it was because they posted 'whoa, I just sent 45 BTC!' here in this forum (I notice there are several members who have posted their deposit amounts looking back at the post history).
The blockchain can be easily searched for all 45 BTC transactions prior to that date (for, say, the period 2 or 3 days prior). There may be several matching hits, but likely not a huge number.
We know the user's bitcoinmax.com name from the forum here. We could then try a login at bitcoinmax.com using that name and the various deposit addresses found from the blockchain matching 45 BTC. Eventually the login would be successful and the 'imposter' would have access to the account.
I may be missing something (and I hope I am), but I'm asking for someone to convince me that the <forum name>/<deposit address> system used by bitcoinmax.com is secure from a hack similar to what I've described above.
very good point. I suggest at least the ability to change your usernames

Received email just now.
"A payment instructions form has been added to the claims page.
Please specify whether you would like payment at a bitcoin address or mtgox voucher.
We will do our best to work with people who would like to receive payment in other ways."
I still haven't received a reply from my email relating to the claim page not recognizing my password (which is saved offline and is 100% correct)
same here. i insert correct password and i get the error. i have emailed verify@bitcoinica.com and also PMd genjix no answer yet

30 May 23:30: We're going to proceed with payouts of the few people we have verified hopefully tomorrow for 80% of their claims (the remaining 20% will be refunded later). A more lengthy process will be applied to everyone else.
Have these "few people" gotten paid yet? Genjix - I had a measly $11 in bitcoinica all transfered via mtgoxUSD code. It should be very easy to confirm this shouldn't it? Has MtGox been willing to cooperate? I'm starting to get annoyed in the lack of updates/ no response from verify@bitcoinica.com, and the fact that we got to come to a forum to get any type of news. I understand I am not a user with thousands of dollars tied up and they may take precedence. But this is just starting to get redonkulous.

Team's alerted, though at least some are away due to Memorial Day weekend.
are you affiliated with kronos.io? In a way. I'll be making an announcement tomorrow as to my role in this, but it is not involved with developing and I don't have an equity stake (though I have a financial interest in Kronos responding to customer support issues in a helpful and speedy manner). However, I can quickly forward problems to the dev team on Skype to ensure they're made aware of them. I can't expedite beyond that nor am I able to directly help you with your problem. excellent thanks! please see my edit above. mtgox got back to me and claims the code has indeed been used. Hi Chsados! Sorry about the delay in response. We haven't launched a public beta yet, so we haven't been monitoring the forums. I've forwarded your situation to one of our devs to fix. In the future, if you have any other bugs or issues, please contact me personally at jon [at] kronos.io or our support team; support [at] kronos.io. Thank you! -Jon Thank you! Just FYI for anyone interested. I just received a PM from kronos.io for a $15 dollar mtgoxusd refund. Thank you for showing your professionalism in this matter - even in beta stages.

are you affiliated with kronos.io? EDIT: does anyone know the kronos.io support email address? or is there even a bitcointalk username here that supports kronos.io that I can contact? Mtgox surprisingly got back to me very fast and stated that the code has indeed been used.

so i made a mtgox redeemable code for $15 about 1 minute ago on my account and went to deposit it into kronos.io
i inserted the code at kronos.io and hit submit and it got an error. I then realized for some reason kronos.io says "We accept Mt. Gox BTC redeemable codes ONLY. DO NOT USE WITH USD CODE" so apparently they do not accept mtgox usd. which is my own stupid fault for not looking at that beforehand.
now I am trying to use the code i generated to re-add the usd to my account on mtgox but am getting the error "This code cannot be redeemed (non existing or already used)"
So what gives? How could this code have already been used if kronos does not accept mtgoxUSD?
I have contacted mtgox about the issue but dont expect any response till monday. the support button at kronos.io doesnt does not work so I have no idea who to contact on their end.
hoping some representative of kronos.io or mtgox sees this and can shed some light on this issue.

So how about starting a wiki on the framework for recoverable and resilient systems? For instance, binlogging to an encrypted disk on a server in a different datacenter, because that would fix issues with deleted databases. And HSM devices or some equivalent for storing private keys. And daily and hourly backups to systems outside of the core network. Encrypted of course. What other ideas do people have?
Reason there isn't a consolidated resource is because people and companies make a lot of money in the computer security sector. You can find a lot of good information piecemeal but the "how" of putting it all together has extra value from the hoarding of that knowledge. Very true. And, the "how" often changes so rapidly that maintaining a comprehensive resource on it is not workable. What I want to see is a list of minimum standards that should be expected from businesses dealing with our money. Simply a framework of technologies that you have to stir together in the right proportions, and a list of potential consequences of omitting one or more of them. You are describing financial regulations, for that you should deal with financially regulated companies. I personally have no wish to see BTC taken over by any government's financial framework. It's a tough problem, imo this is a great opportunity to see if open sourcing security completely would actually be effective. If the whole process is completely transparent then people can decide for themselves whether to use a BTC service. well wouldnt the open source nature of the bitcoin protocol be somewhat similar? the bitcoin protocol is out there for anyone to view. why cant their be a wiki style of tested and proven security methods?

I have a mere $11 dollars tied up in bitconica along with 0.073xxx bitcoins. I finally got my claim to submit. All these transactions can be verified through my emails and all were done via mtgox. I would assume this would be more than sufficient proof?

Bitcoins are as much of a property as WoW Gold, potatoes or USD, you retard. The law doesn’t care what it is, as long as a contract exists.
BTW, don’t you have 25 BTC to repay?
BTC is electrons in a computer mate as far as the law is concerned or a crypto message not money or a possession. So is a CAM file of The Avengers....
