381  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin, ECB and a Free Money Movement. on: November 08, 2012, 03:09:03 PM
If you explained Bitcoin to strangers, in public, fairly often, many would walk away before the first 5 minutes

If you said what the OP said, I reckon you might stand a better chance of getting people interested in Bitcoin, say, 2-6 weeks later when they find it for themselves.

so true, but also understandabel for new people to get the benefits BTC brings...also time will tell them and hopefully for them there money didn,t burn completly away in the system we now have..  Shocked
382  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: [POLL] Will BFL deliver a Bitforce SC ASIC by November 30, 2012 on: November 07, 2012, 04:29:26 PM
When does the December poll start? Cool

end of NOVEMBER and the JANUARI poll will start Roll Eyes 31 dec...lol.. Shocked
383  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Is it even worth it to buy/order an ASIC single now? on: November 06, 2012, 07:34:48 AM
I disagree with these earlier statements. I think that ASIC adopters will, in the end, be the only one hashing away by the end of 2013 if they play their card right by reinvesting judiciously their earnings. Sure, late comer will join the group but this will come at a cost. It is not like ASIC miners are going to drop in price! There is no economic reason this would occur, if only it will go up. GPU mining will be dead as it will simply be impossible to keep up with ASIC rigs for their huge Hash/$/kW. Even if somebody with a large GPU farm would be able to increase its Hash rate 10 fold for free, the electricity consumption would make no sense.

As of today, there will be approximately between 100 to 200 Th of power added to the bitcoin network in the next 3-5 months (this is 5 to 10 times the current network strength with a 3 million difficulty). With the difficulty increasing to at least 10-25 million and the reward halving, the only viable option will be ASIC. Anything below 50-200 Gh/s rig will be irrelevant.

Anyway, while all this is predictable, the BTC exchange rate is not. And this is where the whole story will be decided. In the end, the number of people joining, after the early adopters, will be directly correlated to BTC value to other currencies. If it increases, then you are going to have some very profitable operations and more people purchasing ASIC rigs. If it drops, ASIC early adopters will be the only one mining away until BTC price increase again.

As always, time will tell.

Al lot of writing and u are completly right.. only IF ASIC,s are for real..and deliverd in 3 or 5 months ..there is still zero proof out there and it is already November....

ASIC fabs promise to make 900 devices a day.. Huh. so if u jump in after u be good to... without the risk of getting ripped of..

The ones with the most money to invest will keep doing the most BTC.. not the early adopter...getting some titbits..

The ones with the big GPU farms have the means to change to big ASIC farms when needed.
They have the space and place to get even more devices hanged on the net, with less electr. costs
They are formiliar with hardware and software issues big time
They will try the keep getting the most shares
They will be on top after the big ASIC rush, fever or what ever ..

IN 3 OR 5 MONTHS AS U SAY IT WILL BE SAME HAVING A GPU@800MH NOW VS ASIC@60GH then.

So not that much is changing besides the network security...right??    Roll Eyes Grin Cheesy

384  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: The last month is among us.. on: November 06, 2012, 07:02:27 AM
I could just give away my gpu,s  and still walk away with profit so they keep burning as long as they can, my 7970,s still bring some cashback also my 6990 and 5970 are still high end cards for gamers, stockbrokers ect. even at a dumpprice, because i bought al of them 2nd hand myself win win 4 me ...

maybe i will be a little bit late IF asic,s are for real but when they are on stock (because asic fabs promises to make 900 devices a day,  Roll Eyes ) i just buy and invest in them to.. maybe even for less money then most pre-order guys paid and i will catch up very very fast without the risk of getting riped off..and still making more BTC then most of u waiting and waiting and waiting to unbox your device wich will be wurthless if u got only 1 or 2 devices running like having 1 or 2 GPU,s running these days....  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Im pretty sure there is going to be a super flood of gpus before Christmas and that should bring the prices down for some time.

Im pretty sure there is going to be ZERO asic,s deleverd before Christmas also...
385  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: The last month is among us.. on: November 05, 2012, 05:20:15 PM
Things that can happen;

1) Keep my GPU,s mining or buy replacement devices called AsIc, untill today are compleet AIR units
2) A bunch of guys on this forum will get some red XXXXX through there names.

So we will see witch one it will be..very very very soon..........
386  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: here's just how screwed ASIC buyers are - READ THIS if you have a preorder on: November 02, 2012, 12:28:25 PM
Imagine how screwed people with GPUs are.
Considering this (GPUs, and things near their speed) are the only alternative, if you want to keep mining youll have to switch to ASICs.

@the moment the onlyones making the BTC thus money are the GPU rigs fpga,s ect.
@the moment the ASIC doing 0 BTC

in 4 weeks 80% precent of easy BTC are mined after halvingday de marketprice will decide if people keep there gpu,s on the net.. the time between this and the ASIC shipments the diff could go down..good for the gpu owners doing 10gh+ and already payed off there complete rigs ...when IF ASIC get shiped in 2013 we will see what happens but the next few moonths will be very very intresting...GPU en fpga rigs are still no1 as we speak... Cheesy

387  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Whats in it for ASIC guys to sell? on: November 01, 2012, 07:05:09 PM
if I have access to ASIC, why wouldn't I just mine all the bitcoins myself than sell the hardware?

They don't have asics readily available to mine with.  With all this pre-ordering going on it is obvious the funds that are being sent in are being used to manufacture these things.  Without pre-orders we would have no asic.

You stil don,t HAVE ASICs, they DO have ur money...

Re-read my post I never said they have them.

But lately BFL has been flaunting pics of their pcbs so they may have them but not operational.. yet.

EDIT: And they don't have my money.  I only purchase things I know exist.  Grin

Very good ..u are right better see them first doing 60gh@60watts 24/7 then they are cool devices seeing 60000mhase@ ur screen whauuw we will see...GL  Wink

389  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Finally photos of real BFL Single SC and Jalapeno ASICs on: November 01, 2012, 07:51:50 AM

and all those 20000 chips are guaranteed to work?

i don't know about the failure rate, but i can safely assume not all of the 20000 will be failure-free....i think.

It all depends on the contract, was it for X Working Devices to spec Y, or was it just X Devices with a penalty for excessive defects beyond a certain percentage? We don't know, but it really does not matter.

They have stated "This is enough for the pre-orders and then some", this means that even if there are faulty ASIC's they should have enough for the current orders.

quality from China sucks really hard sorry to say so.

If send specific specs to China to make a batch of bolds metric screws specific measurements,
order 100.000 you be sure that u can thro away 20%..  but he the remaining 80.000 is still cheaper to make over there then produce them in Europe or USA. Quality is no there middle name...

Very telling:
Quote
We expect the final chip versions to be in our hands in ~25 days, with final assembly and shipping to begin a few days after that.
So, that's the 22nd of November based on when this was posted, and that's assuming no further delays, and that all the other parts turn up in time, and that's just when they can begin assembling boards.

Yeah, I don't know why BFL are even pretending they'll ship in November...

November 2012 no real ASICs working proof out there ..so it,s very hard to speculate who will ship first..IF ever shiped

IF they were for real they would invest, make the product shelfready, put them in stock en sell them after testing knowing they will beable of doing 24/7 without breaking...

To me it feels all ASIC makers:

Taking advantage of gained trust, fpga products
Taking advantage of greedyness of ..i MUST be an early adopter and must make quick money
Taking advantage of naief people counting them selfs TO rich..we now now ROI will be same as GPU
They are very precise with respect to prepayments but very vague about all the rest,
They keep giving some info, news, pictures etc NO real stuff
Try to looking good by doing free device contests, charities support, bets ect. they all do this why ?? all things scammers would do to make them look good just to keep pleasing the customer

Oktober not even an working compleet device out there, only vague stuff..promisses BROKEN
November   will be updated soon
December   will be updated soon
Januari       "     "    "

@ the end of November and no ASIC out there it is time for me to continue to heavely invest more into my GPU farm again.

That's a really cool attitude! Most young people look at us as if you're over 30 you all have dementia. The prejudice is so bad it literally makes me lie about my age.

Ya, look at this poll itself, everyone over 50 is grouped together.  lol

Die EZB hat sich gründlich mit der bitcoin beschäftigt.

Ein überraschend neutraler und fairer Report zu Bitcoin kam dabei heraus:

.. am I the only one who see something like this while reading any of the BFL threads?
And sorry for off topic, I could not take it anymore.

yep, looks like you have a nasty case of Troll-bite there. Hold on and I'll suck out the worst of the poison, but you will have complete the healing process yourself...

FACT: Several other manufacturers and BFL have been producing mining equipment starting last year and early this year.
FACT: BFL had significant delays, and a 4x difference in projected and actual power utilization, even after shipping started it remained slow for some time.
FACT: BFL started taking preorders back in July, some folks have been waiting on them since then, impatiently
FACT: BFL stated initially that they would be shipping October, and at some point updated that to October/November.
FACT: BFL updated their unit to be more competetive, and has blamed some of their challenges on this
FACT: BFL has not yet made any statements that shipping would not begin before the end of November. They have told BitCoin Magazine that they would be shipping late in November, but they have never said they would start in December.
FACT: BFL has stated an intention to ship all preorders through September "by the end of the year" (IIRC, not sure about when they made the statement, thought it was early October)
FACT: BFL has invested in (new/upgraded) board level fabrication and assembly tools for use in batches after the first one
FACT: BFL has Millions of dollars in preorders, outside investors watching them, and huge community pressure to deliver on time and in spec

Supposition: BFL is very motivated to succeed, are not likely to take off with the money, and will in fact deliver a product, within their October/November timeframe, or tell us that they are missing it. Until we hear that they are shipping or delayed we get to wait.

Some folks are not so good at waiting, so if you notice someone saying in the 35th thread that BFL is a scam and are stealing all the money, just hit the little link under their name that says "ignore" and get on with it. If something bad enough to really get concerned about happens, you will see reputable posters talking about it quickly enough.

(If anyone sees errors above or has updated information, please let me know and I'll update the post.)

Fact BFL posted these fake pictures of a product they have not made yet.

Just wanted to add that Josh was saying at Bitcoin2012 in London on  15-16 September, that all preorders before this date BFL really wants to 100% have these shipped b4 the end of the year... (as a christmas present his actual words i believe)... so i'm just sitting back and waiting patiently until i get a package in the mail... it will come when it comes....
