381  Economy / Speculation / Re: Mt. Gox will release bitcoin in march - what's next? on: March 04, 2023, 04:25:20 PM
The deadline to register payee information is in mid-March. This was pushed back from early January. I don’t think there’s any chance payouts come in March. There’s still a lot of work to be done and with the US forcing exchanges to close accounts of Americans left and right, I imagine even getting the payouts to their appropriate creditors is going to be a hassle.
I also think that these payments, if nothing changes again, as it has happened many times before, will last a very long time. The exchange won't be able to pay each user the full amount in one lump sum. This procedure will drag on for a long time and will most likely have no effect at all on the market, which has a huge capitalisation compared to when Mt Gox scammed. This news may even have played out a long time ago.
Is from March 10 to September 30, the payment will be in a mix of 2 cryptocurrencies and cash, there are chances the exchange might add further delay
1. 142,000 bitcoin ($3.3 billion) Price as at today
2. 143,000 bitcoin cash ($19 million)
3.  69 billion Yen ($510 million)
I dont expect a big impact in the price with the duration of distribution but FUD will play a small part
382  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: March 03, 2023, 10:35:26 PM
Sergio Ramos announces his retirement from international football.
I don't know why the Spanish National team management are being so quick to do away with Ramos, first it was Luis Enrique not including him in their 2022 WC squad, a decision that came as a surprise to many people, including me, because imo Ramos is still playing at a high level in PSG. In his retirement message today he claimed he was called by the new manager who told him he wasn't part of his plans, thus it is basically clear they pushed him out of the team and forced him into this retirement, what boggles me is that Spain do not even really have too many solid defenders, in the WC they had to convert Rodri who is a defensive midfielder into the heart of defense.

Having said that, i wish Ramos a good retirement, he can now focus entirely on his club football, and work towards achieving success with his club PSG, he has already won it all with the national team, so he can retire with contentment.
In my opinion, he did not leave him out because he was too old; some players have not been able to endure all of their coaches' demands. It has been demonstrated that Bisqutte is both level headed and humble. He is also a true leader. However, as Chelsea might be seeking a replacement, what makes Luis Enrique the right candidate. Are you referring to the same Enrique who hasn't done anything with the national team in a few months
383  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Abeg all this political Mata for different threads don do. on: March 03, 2023, 11:48:08 AM
In my opinion, unnecessarily long threads can be reported to the forum moderators, but I do not think it should get that far. I am not a regular visitor to Nigerian threads on the forum, and posting in a thread on a topic of concern is not limited, but these Nigerians ger the way they flood everything and draw attention to themselves. Could you please tell me why they are like that? no be only naija dey this forum now. There is a way to block new accounts that do not appear relevant in the forum, I also think the forum is still requesting funds to open an account, why so many people who are unsure of what to do.
384  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Warning] Don't Connect Your Metamask With This Scam Site on: March 03, 2023, 07:26:09 AM
Damn this is actually an old way to scam people, where you get this in the first place Youtube and Twitter usually have a dozen sites like this but their platform has a fast response so it won't get big.

It's like buy 1 get 1 but at the end scammer just takes away off your money, and Metamask is a very convenient wallet Im personally use it, this is a new method by using metamask. Little tip never ever approves or sends money if you don't know the sites.

The information was on Metamask twitter handle not even the support= https://twitter.com/MetaMask/status/1630617494770663432?s=20
This is the link on the tweet if it cant be seen= https://assetstore.unity.com/decentralization
385  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which is currently the best crypto to invest in? on: March 02, 2023, 11:40:48 AM
This could be the narrative in the coming year or bull market
• Regulation
• Perp DEXs
• Gambling
• Layer 2
• Gaming
• AI (Artificial Intelligence)

We might need to be very careful here, not go all in too soon, consider new projects for better returns, follow the market hype and narrative, take profit regularly, and diversify your portfolio.
386  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Warning] Don't Connect Your Metamask With This Scam Site on: March 02, 2023, 11:19:44 AM
Although Metamask is working hard to improve and integrate the wallet with many games with web3 in the near future, security of the wallet remains a concern. Is there anything that can be done on the owner's side to secure the wallet and keep it connected?

387  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Second Live 🚀 Choose Life,Choose Space,Choose Friends 🚀 [Create-to-Earn] on: March 02, 2023, 10:57:53 AM
There is something strange about the token economics where 20% of the team token will be unlocked immediately and the public sale will be unlocked after 3 years with a 6 month interval between each unlocked portion. Are you confident that this will be attractive to investors ?

What stage are we in the market?
389  Economy / Economics / Re: When your passive income equals or slightly above your salary, what would you do on: February 05, 2023, 09:43:31 PM

I have been in a job I detested and although I somehow managed to stay at it for up to 4 years, I didn't even for once let go of my passionate hobby and other passive streams of income I was interested in at the time.
Today, one of my passive interests pays more than my salary. My mind has been yearning for a resignation, but opinions of others and family bears the message of patience with the job I so much detest for reasons ranging from inflation to fear of the unknown.

If you were in my shoes, what would be the best advice you would give yourself and adhere to in this instance?

I was advised by my mentor not to quit my main job until your side hustle requires a whole week of time and can serve you for a number of weeks with the same demand and more profits.
390  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why bitcoiners are not friendly physical? on: February 05, 2023, 09:36:09 PM
Bitcoin and cryptocurrency owners are vulnerable to hacking, and we can see this everywhere. When people participate in bounty programs, they often want to conceal their identities because they might be targeted. Many members of cryptocurrency groups on Telegram and Twitter receive scam mail and private messages from anonymous people, those who don't know about your portfolio, imagine if they did.
391  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: February 04, 2023, 10:45:16 PM
The game ended goalless there and indeed this was not very good for Chelsea although indeed today we also had 2 other surprises when Liverpool became the clown again and Arsenal ended their positive results by losing to Everton unexpectedly.
For Arsenal they have a danger signal from Manchester City now even though the points are still quite far away but if Manchester City can make a win and 3 points then they will reduce the margin a little.
The Liverpool problem may not be physical, but I do not think that many people believe me. Despite playing well, they haven't been able to defend their performance. The team has good players, so how did they get such a terrible trend of results? Klopp isn't a young coach, so why did the team get such a horrible trend? There is no way Klopp will be able to sleep, so I know he must try everything he knows and has done in the past. His situation is pityful. Football can be crazy sometimes
392  Economy / Economics / Re: Can I take a loan to invest in bitcoin? on: February 04, 2023, 07:56:38 PM
Actually, borrowing money for Bitcoin investment and other businesses is the same.
They are really not the same thing, is not advisable to borrow money to invest in Bitcoin, Rather borrow and go into business, the money you are to borrow will need to be paid back in a giving period of time, if you are investing in bitcoin that means you should have another source of income for you to be paying back the money borrowed, if not you are just going to put yourself into serious pressure of how to pay back the money you borrowed, bitcoin is a long time investment and it requires patience, so that you would not because of the pressure of how to pay back the money be tempted to withdraw your coin.
Yes, it is not advisable, but people are doing it. If not for the loss, some news of investments in cryptocurrency would not have been published. The 3 Arrows investment group has millions in loans for cryptocurrency investments. In spite of the fact that they made good profits, the idea of a supercycle destroyed their investment. Interestingly, they have secured another loan for investment. I believe with my experience that if they invest early in good projects, they will be able to pay off all their debt in the next bull market. We should avoid distracting news about the supercycle and take profit early to settle our debt. Protect your investment from hacks by separating it into different wallets, and store your private keys in different places.
393  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: If i move to Canada with BTC. Do i owe tax to canada goverment? on: February 03, 2023, 02:59:56 PM

No, there is no tax to buy or hold cryptocurrencies in Canada. However, if you decide to sell your cryptocurrency holdings, a tax basis may arise.

Yes. The government can request information about the source of your BTC, but only if it has been informed of your cryptocurrency holdings or after the sale.

What is the percentage tax on cryptocurrency sales there?
Can decentralised exchanges be a hiding place from the government, especially if funds can be sent through P2P to foreign bank accounts?
Does the government have access to the holdings one has before entering the country?
394  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Remains at Critical Level of Buyers And Sellers on: February 03, 2023, 02:37:18 PM
Not too late for buyers to buy bitcoin and hodl it for long term investment. $24,000 is way too far from its past All Time High, so I don't why other people are still afraid to buy Bitcoin if they have the plan to do so. It's funny how newbies in cryptocurrency choose to buy Bitcoin when it's at its peak then blaming bitcoin for not giving them profits because it's started to dump since bearish market starting to happen again normally after bull run.

Their mistakes is that they don't want to risk big but wanted bigger profits, which contradicts everything.
The cryptocurrency market has produced more billionaires than any other enterprise and experience has taught them to keep funds for accumulation and to purchase large quantities on counter. Price movement until the bull is slowed by this counter exchange. The newbies are guaranteed to be ignorant and should take cautious decisions about their funds. Accumulators have access to information, experience, and funds now, which makes the difference
395  Economy / Economics / Re: What do you think will happen if... on: February 02, 2023, 11:04:40 PM
There is no way I can trust the news that institutional investors won't be interested. I will believe that it is a distraction and a deception. It has taken a lot of time for them to build up to the next bull market, and they have so much time to do so. The market's response to Elon Musk's tweets in the last bull run sparked his interest in Twitter, and he made a big profit in a short time. In addition to gaming and web3, Facebook has many other establishments that they are interested in. There is so much to be said about Jack Dorsey as well.
396  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Naira redesign it's effects and consequences on: February 02, 2023, 01:47:12 PM
My suggestion here is that as the both commercial bank and CBN no wan agree to release the new currency, the government should be able to try his best to make sure that everything is going on a normal ways, because ATM and pos no get cash for people to have it to buy their needs, seriously it's really affecting many people's business and lives of people, humans can't live without food and shelter and we all need money to get those things, but if the government can not do anything about it, then I don't think we have any leaders in Nigeria.
My mind doesn't understand how Nigerians suddenly changed their expectations of their president, you expect a show of pragmatism that hasn't been shown in the past seven years. He has demonstrated that he cannot control the system, not even security. This is why I do not want any soft leaders in government any more, but I do not want tyrants either. Bank heads can be summoned to the capital to explain the scarcity after so much has been released. If they cannot, they should be sanctioned and publicly punished.
397  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Naira redesign it's effects and consequences on: February 01, 2023, 09:01:32 PM
As we all dey see wetin dey happen for we country in regards to the scarcity of the redesigned naira notes.
CBN dey say na commercial banks they hoard the new notes while Commercial banks dey say na CBN dey hoard am.
The thing don make business transactions dey difficult for some people, we see as POS operators dey charge for withdrawals.
People don dey use money dey buy money, banks ATMs no dey dispence cash.
New notes no dey circulate, deadline dey approach to spend old notes.
My brothers and sisters na wetin una think say go be the way forward??
This design get any economic  or political effects on the country??

In my opinion, the commercial banks are the culprits, but politicians benefit from it by playing the blame game with the media to confuse the public. In today's situation, commercial banks are collecting 10% on counter against new notes. Could this be a result of the Central Bank as well? A further escalation of this scarcity occurred over the weekend as a result of a deadline shift. In preparation for elections, politicians are stockpiling funds with the help of bank managers. Even today, there are still old notes in some ATMs.
398  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: After FTX collapse, some call for a return to decentralized roots on: February 01, 2023, 11:01:43 AM
You/We can use centralized exchanges but only for trading purposes, other than that like keeping your/our funds in these centralized exchanges for any reason is wrong. Because you do not have the private keys of the wallets of those centralized exchanges management can freeze your funds at any time they want.
And can you tell me who the hell keeps its funds on the exchanges? There really are such dummies? Because I kept my currencies in the wallet from the very first day in crypto world and I never knew that someone does in another way.. Then they pay for their stupidity.
Of course, some traders keep their funds on the exchange and may use their funds to trade. But they only keep a small amount and the other funds in a separate wallet so they can control how they are used. We can't blame those who keep their funds in the exchange because they may have reasons for doing it. But hopefully, no one will get into trouble like yesterday's FTX case and immediately move the funds to their personal wallet.
As long as coin holders share custody with Centralised exchanges, the exchange's carelessness and insecurity will be everyone's problem, especially when the team behind the exchange is fraudulent as well. The ability to set up trade orders and P2P trade on decentralized exchanges could reduce the use of CEX, as there are currently no decentralized exchanges that offer such services. DEX needs to keep improving its use and trading since they seem more secure

400  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My greatest fear about Bitcoin Halving. on: January 31, 2023, 11:14:03 AM
My greatest fear is; what if 2024 halving comes and go without any kind of bull run? Don't you think that there will be a serious problem and panic in the industry?
This is because 2024 halving is the greatest available hype that can move the market.

All this suggests to me is that speculators overthink this shit way too much.  No wonder there's so much panic-selling.  The above post could just as easily be phrased: "What if the mindless hype isn't generating enough hype anymore?" and would convey much the same sentiment. I mean, come on, this is just silly.
It would be the first time the halving will not turn the bullish button, and as you explained, that would be overthinking. In theory, the supply of the coin during the halving will be halved. However, the bear market boosts bitcoin from weak hands to stronger hands, which increases demand while decreasing supply, which reflects in the price increases.
