3821  Economy / Lending / Re: New type of scam attempt targeting Lenders on: November 23, 2019, 07:24:39 PM
If you're going to use Telegram for communication that's fine, but insist on all official business be posted here on the forum.  Out in the open is better, but at the very least through PM if needed.

This morning jbdee discovered he was being targeted immediately after I posted this:

Apology is more than accepted.

Much appreciated.

Unless the community is apposed, I'd like to keep this thread open.  I think it can serve as a warning to those who use alternative messaging services.
3823  Economy / Lending / New type of scam attempt targeting Lenders on: November 23, 2019, 06:16:17 PM
I've been a part of two recent attempts to scam our forum's lenders on Telegram.  If you use that platform for communication, please take every precaution to ensure with whom you are communicating.

The scammer will contact a couple of reputable forum members; one for a loan and the other for collateral escrow, then create an account to impersonate the escrow provider, and start a group discussion with the impostor account.

Please be careful, and lets prevent this dirtbag from scamming anyone.
3824  Economy / Reputation / Re: scam scare on: November 23, 2019, 05:35:00 PM
@condoras,
I would like to issue an official public apology.  I'm sorry I accused you of being part of this scam attempt.

Just this morning someone contacted me on Telegram asking me to provide escrow for his collateral so he could a loan from member jbdee.  I quickly provided the two an address to use and posted it here on the forum in my escrow thread.  The scammer then created an account to impersonate me, started another group discussion with jbdee and the impostor account, and gave jbdee a different address.  But since I had already provided an address, jbdee was spared from the scam, and recognized the other account as an impostor.

I now believe that you were lured into a very similar attempt to scam me.

This type of scam is a new one for me.  Start a discussion with a reputable member, then impersonate that member in another group discussion.  This morning makes at least two instances where I know it failed, I wonder if it has ever worked for this scumbag.  Considering the amount of time invested in attempting these types of scams, you would think the guy could that much effort into something legitimate, and be profitable and successful.

make sure that you are who you impersonate?

Funny way of putting it.  Why did you edit the post with the whale address?
3827  Economy / Lending / Re: Loans without collateral on: November 22, 2019, 09:14:46 PM
My spidey sense tells me this is a Telegram scam.  Or at the very least someone trying to hijack KYC documents.

To any newbie that's reading this; think it through.  Nobody is going to give you money without legitimate collateral, and anyone who leads to believe otherwise has something quite different planned.

Hello I am new I need a loan ranging from 100 to 1000 $. I would like to invest this money in my personal activities! I could not have a loan on the loan platforms because the minimum there is 1btc. I'm open to all proposals. thank you in advance

Do you have any collateral to offer?  You don't qualify for a loan without collateral, so if you don't have any to offer you should lock this thread.

Here's a post that describes valid collateral: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=577765.msg6311902#msg6311902

It'll never end.  As long as there are gullible, greedy people around scammers will continue to pursue their scams.  The best we can do is expose them before they have a chance to trick anyone.  I tagged the new account, and the old one was already painted a dark shade of red.
3831  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: BTC sent to an unknown address. shows "unspent" on: November 22, 2019, 03:43:58 PM
Yea really frustrating, as it was like $1000 sent.  I checked my entire hard drive and no trace of it other than my searches yesterday.

That is frustrating.  I hope you can figure it out, but I'll ask again, how did the vendor send you the address?

The fact that the details on the txid still says "not spent" does that mean no one has moved them from the wallet?

Correct.
3832  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: electrum not conected to servers HELP PLS HELP on: November 22, 2019, 01:19:35 PM
I think you're saying you have the latest version, two wallets, and that one wallet connects while the other does not, is that correct?  It could be the server to which you're connected is limiting you bandwidth?  I'm not an expert on that, someone else will be along to shed more light on the technical side.

Click on Tools > Network > Servers, and manually select a different server, that may solve you problem.

Thus this mean you can plagiarized?
~

That's not plagiarism since he's the artist.  He sold the physical piece of art, but he still owns the rights to use the image.  If he wants to make prints and sell those he'd be well within his rights.

BTW @Yatsan, the girl with the bitcoin earring is a beautiful piece of art.  TecShare is a lucky man to have it hanging on his wall.
What about the girl with bitcoin earing and this one (link) - https://www.britannica.com/topic/Girl-with-a-Pearl-Earring-by-Vermeer

Does he also have the same right to use the main picture itself?

I see, I was not aware that the image was copied from another piece of art.  That does seem to be plagiarized, but I'm not sure if copyright laws allow a copy someone else's art with minor changes.  I was under the impression it was an original piece.

You said you copied and pasted the address into Electrum, how did you obtain the address?  Was it presented to you on the vendor's website, or was it sent to you through email or some other messaging method?

Are you sure the vendor is legit, and they aren't lying to you about not receiving the payment?
3836  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XLM] Stellar - Decentralized trading platform on: November 21, 2019, 11:25:58 PM
What decentralized exchange would you recommend for trading Stellar coin
and what advantages are compared to other competition.

Exchanges are businesses, so by definition they're "centralized."  If you're concerned about KYC there are several exchanges that don't require it, but I don't trust any of them.  You can try P2P like localbitcoins and similar sites.  Or, post here on the forum in the Currency Exchange board, you might find someone willing to trade with you.  If you do post for an exchange here I suggest you use escrow.
3837  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: BTC sent to an unknown address. shows "unspent" on: November 21, 2019, 11:09:17 PM
version 3.3.4

There was a malicious version being spread around last year that was labeled "3.3.4" if I remember correctly.  Where did you download your version of electrum?

When I open details, the input is green, then there are 2 outputs, one is yellow, the other is not any color.  How would I find out if I sent it to myself?  Wouldn't I see an incoming transaction.  Thanks for your help on this.  Giving me hope!

The one highlighted in yellow is your change address, those coins are still in your wallet.  The one lacking color is an external address, and doesn't belong to your wallet.  Since the wallet already contained the coins, you wouldn't see an incoming transaction for the change wallet, just the one transaction that sent the coins from the input transaction.

I can post the TXID but I don't know if that is cool to do.

The only reason not to is if you're concerned about your privacy, but since you already posted a screen shot we now know how much bitcoin you had in your wallet.  Based on that screen shot it looks like a significant portion of you coins went to that unknown address.
3838  Economy / Services / Re: [FULL] ChipMixer Signature Campaign | Sr Member+ | Up to 0.0375 BTC/w on: November 21, 2019, 05:18:27 PM
I think it's about building a database and searching for plagiarism and alt accounts, not about signatures.

I'll agree, that's probably suchmoon's motivation; she's a staunch fighter of plagiarism and those who abuse alt accounts.  But is that QS's gripe with her efforts?  Is it such a bad thing for suchmoon to focus her attention?  How does that affect our privacy?

The only reason to be concerned is if you're a plagiarists or an account farmer who abuses sig campaigns with alts...

Oh dear, I think I just typed the answers to the questions I had.  Sorry for being so slow witted.   Roll Eyes
3839  Economy / Reputation / Re: actmyname reputation thread on: November 21, 2019, 04:49:44 PM
Assurance of DT feedback should be verified through the reference rather than the comment. In that sense, the comments are more-or-less irrelevant.

I agree with this 98%.  Of the remaining 2%, 1% is because I'm lazy, and agree with LoyceV that one word would suffice.  The other 1% depends on who's leaving the review; if it's someone who's judgement I find to be beyond reproach (a very select few) I might choose to be even more lazy and not bother with the reference link.

Hi all, is Solar wallet a safe wallet for XLM if i can't save XLM for now on hardware wallet? I reffer to wallet from Stellar website, here is link https://www.stellar.org/lumens/wallets/ ?

Solar wallet is among those recommended by the official Stellar team, but can I ask why you want to use that one?  If you are concerned about the security of the coins you received from Keybase airdrop, they aren't any more secure in the Solar wallet than they are in the Keybase app.  Both are desktop wallets.  The only way to increase security is to move the coins to a hardware wallet.
