Why don't you post on nice hash? Anyhow. Coursera Course on Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency Begins Soon Quote: "Education on the topics of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency are an absolute necessity at this stage. A new Coursera class touching upon both subjects can be quite powerful to bring new people into the ecosystem. Moreover, this is another validation of how popular Bitcoin has become, as there are now official classes people can follow online." REF: http://themerkle.com/coursera-course-on-bitcoin-and-cryptocurrency-begins-soon/How cool is that? School Based Education Technology is an area we should look to promote. Moreover: I still think a dapp building Competition is a good idea. Maybe Alex might want to put up a prize in etc? give em a bitcointalk link and show them the oil of the whole crypto machine....all of us lol

Those that keep going on about emootabillety lol understand Blockchain for BTC...they dont understand ETC blockchain...it does things differently, also the dao coins that were stolen could only be retreived because there was a 30+day withdraw limit. Changing this single tranasction was different because it did not require the entire rollback of the ETH chain and miner fees were not involved.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OGGW9ozE-ys#t=71 watch from 1hr for this discussion on why BTC cant do rollback like ETH. ETH can pick out a single transaction and if there is consensus then changes can be made...niether of these two things can be done on BTC. If you want 100% emootabillety, use BTC or any other COIN. Ethereum is not BTC.

Well, and eth still finish? No, and with big security fail. Now, devs working on etc to make a safe blockchain. And eth unfinish too, forked, with hater users like u.
Your missing the point...this coin called etc is incomplete...so its is far from classic!

More i read this forum, the more division i see creeping in. Doesnt look like Ethereum classic...looks more like Ethereum unfinished

Im sure pos also allows for Scalability and many more extra features that are not possible on pow. Hawk and ZKsnarks are just two of many... Cryptographic mixers - essentially, the ZK-SNARK verification enforces the rule that if you put one coin in you can take one coin and only one coin out, but the input-output mapping is completely hidden. Hawk - essentially, smart contracts with encrypted state, where the full power of the blockchain is still used to verify that state transitions are correct because anyone updating the state needs to include a ZK-SNARK proving that the change from the old encrypted state to the new encrypted state is a valid state transition (proving all of this without revealing what the decrypted old or new states, or the decrypted transaction data, is!). https://www.reddit.com/r/ethereum/comments/4v2ug3/zksnarks_zero_knowledge_proofs_now_possible_via/Hawk: The Blockchain Model of Cryptography and Privacy-Preserving Smart Contracts https://eprint.iacr.org/2015/675.pdf

Hawk: The Blockchain Model of Cryptography and Privacy-Preserving Smart Contracts https://eprint.iacr.org/2015/675.pdfThe Hawk smart contract system begins with a simplified version of the open-source zerocash protocol, and it layers its smart contract system on top of that base. In Hawk, a wide range of encrypted data — or digital currency — can then be used as the inputs and outputs of the smart contracts, "so the blockchain can't see what the output values of the contract are," said Miller. The contracts wouldn’t be implemented on every transaction, but rather used on a case-by-case basis when additional privacy is needed by users of a public blockchain. WOW

Watching this video now... So far it sounds like he likes doing the bidding of the VC(banks). I hope his views have evolved since ETHF has essentially done the bidding for the investors and insiders by doing the bailout fork. I will continue watching, but so far he isn't thrilling me with his responses 8 minutes into the video. Thanks for sharing Paula. :-) It is a fallout because of differences of ideas. Either one is not a bad idea and both could be good ideas. It depends on your style and what you want to happen. In Charles' idea they will be made answerable to VC investors while Vitalik will have none of it taking everything in his own hands. I in Vitalik's case it went bad as we have seen. I finished watching that video and then the video from today. The video from today clearly showed the huge and stark differences between immutability and the authoritarian perspective. Martin clearly stated that if they thought 80% of the community supported something they would do it to include censoring, rolling back transactions, etc. Which appeared to really go cross purposes with most of the panel and this is clearly what is wrong with Ethereum and those who represent it. The question was asked who is this "community" because many of us who hold or held ethereum knew nothing about any vote. So it appears to be a very small cross section of people represented. Next it also seemed to me like the Ethereum position was almost "smug", and laughing at anyone holding a different view point than theirs. And it also appeared that they were saying tough, we are doing it this way and there really is no reason for ETC to exist. I liked Charles views and thoughts on Ethereum in today's presentation and it sounds like he is putting his money where his mouth is by hiring developers. Now it sounds like the community needs to start the round table discussions next to build a consensus and roadmap. It sounded like Charles was going to push a hybrid POW/POS which does sound very attractive and I would like to hear more. Charles gets it but it remains to be seen if the current ETC leadership will let him take charge and execute on that vision. wait wot...can i announce it officially lololol this needs a gif

I don't want to labour the point (over state this) about the effect of high crime activity reducing the willingness of people to set up businesses on a Network place.
But, if you read a basic Sociology book, nothing challenging e.g. A' Level standard (for people aged 16-18) it will run through statistics related geographical regions with higher levels of criminal activity and reduction in peoples willingness to build businesses there.
Essentially, it will explain the basics, places that become locations for high levels of criminal activity, see a corresponding reductions in people's willingness to build businesses in those places.
Places with low levels of criminal activity, have higher levels of people trying to build businesses there.
Clearly, this piece of Sociology will effect the Market Capitalisation of Crypto Currencies.
You made your point pretty clear, thank you. Now can you explain why ETH (the righteous fork) doesn't roll back other thefts and losses, just that one DAO thing? a precedent has been set::Do you want to be on the chain that is mutable or not The ETC chain gives you that choice, and has a market vaule of over 100M supporting that choice. so their is nothing to argue about the more immutable version ETC has a value proposition, much it seems to the chargin of the ETH only crowd, and disbelief. They did not appreciate the strength of what they were doing...code is law! lol er yea we kinda already know this lololol we fought, traded, won, lost, cried and made up...where were you?
