3903  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: September 23, 2017, 06:55:05 AM
Total hashrate is already >100TH that is >3x than the number one week ago. I do not want to think about the number when the big batch (end of Nov) is shipped. That explains why the D3 price from Bitmain for Nov batch is so low.

im hoping for 35-50 dollars per day by late nov/early dec

I'm wondering if my 1st D3 will even ROI at $2,700.00 that will be up this coming Tuesday.....

(also have a dubious 2nd one arriving middle of Nov I think.....ack! maybe ROI on that one ..at 1450 price me thinks..hopes..guesses...etc)

Total hashrate now is 114TH (from 105TH when I wrote the comments 30min ago).

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Ack! Reading the above, lemmings, lemmings, everywhere!

From what I understand the baikal x11 miners use an FPGA chip that they can program for other protocols like x15, x13 etc?

I've also been told that for the majority of other ASIC makers, including Bitmain, there is no upgrade path in protocol ...x11 is it..

can anyone clarify?

If China bans the Chinese miners and they have to shut down and move, that would be short term bearish but soooo hella bullish in the long term.

Think about it. They would have to move equipment from provinces where they are essentially getting free electricity, to places that would actually charge them money per kwh. It would level the playing field with other miners scattered all over the world. They would then have to hold more and charge more for their mined bitcoin.

Charlie tweeted a few hours ago that according to his trusted source, there won't be a mining ban or a cut off from the network.
It seems mostly to be FUD and manipulation by some whales!

https://twitter.com/SatoshiLite/status/911067464796053506

China has to have some option to slow growth for 2018, when BTC hits 10k a coin....can't shoot all their powder dry now Smiley

In my view china would not ban miners...they would simply make them mine to china fiat daily etc so they can keep track of who is mining etc via such a banking arrangement
they likely would set the price of coin to their advantage as a gov't exchange

thus like NO vpn and you have to use your real name on social media in china because all based on your IP....its how I'd do it ...evil..quick and simple and still all that western $$$

coming in for miner mnfg etc

No. We had Batch 1 (delivery date 15-25 Sept) and Batch 2 scheduled delivery - 18-25 Sept. Price was same for both batch 2700 usd.

Bitmain is running the batches in sequence..I had a 2nd batch ...thus no real diff..in time.....mine shipped the 18th and will be here today, the 20th,  supposedly (of course no psu ..but going
driectly to the data hall anyway out of state so not an issue ...got it covered..be aware however the psu was supposed to ship the 15th
I think ..nada on it from email from bitmain yet)

3910  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: September 20, 2017, 06:09:23 AM
Is this a new phenomenon?  Since when do USA residents get charged duties on items from China?

M

FYI: UPS in USA had my D3 flagged as some exotic piece of scientific computer equipment .... about $96 bucks duties

This is when they called about a Soc Sec Number I asked price

I informed them that I should be (like other equip) be called a manufactured peripheral accessory to computer equipment as a classification

and offered to show here my miners with a laptop front end as a peripheral computer hardware

they dropped the price to $25 on the change in their 'what it is' number

just a heads up

its new for me....on small orders (less than 10) if there was a charge it was 9 bucks or some such

also, the lady said they are being swamped with whatever ASIC machines are (ups lady) ...jeez...ya think?

Man that x11 diff hit hard.  Wonder how the rest of the month goes.  Everyone has guesses but does anyone have a verified hard number of units that were in batch 1?

Apparently batch 1/1.5 was bought by Cryptocrane lmao he's got to be the only American who managed to even get that many and obviously mostly to resell. Oh well best of luck to everyone who bought I'm bringing 500 online in the next couple months and if they make nothing I'll give them to the homeless for space heaters.

FML you are probably correct...on the other hand ..now with mining I can give 50% to taxes (state/fed/soc sec as small business as I have crypto set up)

or

I can take that 50% that was gonna go to tax man...take the equip cost all off instead of 5 years this year...get a full 25% back as applied to taxes I will pay anyway
this year...and thus for 25% more risk...not give the tax man any money (assuming I can get into a bitmain site for a future miner that makes sense)

so any bitmain product for me as an equip deduction till  the end of the year just has to cover electric etc and mine 25% plus ...and its a draw (or so my dubious rationalization goes) Smiley

(as to next year no idea..just saying where I'm at now..just chug thru at 12-14 month ROI baby...maybe? or at least give me 25% of ROI back someday so I can call it a draw.

3912  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 19, 2017, 09:58:41 AM
I know the feeling bitcorn. I felt sick last week too. I had to stop looking at the price.

Even though my investment was fairly low, the profits are now high.

Maybe I should take out a large percentage of my profits? If I do that and it goes up 400% I am in the same boat. More sickness.

I think I'll do my original plan and hodl for more years. Hopefully this will pay off. I need to forget short term and think long term really.
I thought the same thing. But I chose to HoDL (and keep HoDLing for several more years). My thinking is that if it goes to zero, that's OK, my investment was not big (a few thousand EUR). I won't miss it. I can afford to lose it. My life won't change. On the other hand, what'll happen if I convert it to fiat and then it goes to the moon? I'm sure I'll feel really bad about it, much worse that if I lose my investment. And going to the moon will certainly change my life for the better. It's a risk I'm willing to take.

My suggestion to all BTC owners: HoDL! And if you have the skills & guts, trade a little (not too much). As for me, I don't want to trade because I know I'm not good at it.
I have a close mind set as yours but with a twist Smiley , I always take % (the big part ) from the money I make and leave it as long term investment in BTC and never look at it no matter how low or high the price go I am in it for jackpot not just for some profit . The other % (the small part) of my money I use it to trade and sometime withdraw some if needed .

Ditto. Mined my way out of debt to 💯 BTC. The last 2 years mining profits
above that I live on speculate on new equip, punting down the road, hoping
this kicking can down the road, with that income and equip purchases to keep
IRS happy, and me legal, works out for the income hamster wheel, to keep moving

In other words, gambling on Alts or miners etc and keep hoard in BTC, the hoard in BTC and
alts is all. The rest will be luck and mostly miner rebirth 2018 onward. Or so the bet
And not give 1/2 income from miners to tax man

The income may pan out as a draw for equip with taxes. But I'm having a hell of a lot of fun with
No risk to the hoard. So wtf.

Find a hoard number, you can reach on BTC, then take speculative risks. If BTC works
Long term to say 10k BTC or more, even if speculating and taking income above your number
Will not matter much imho.

Received 5 more units today to send out for press reviews, thought I would share. Not long to wait now and site will be up!

alas none to me ...in order for me to eat 'crow' (still watching if still dubious) Smiley

You will eat crow, don't worry the wait will be over soon Smiley

At over 3k not too excited about this ...and I assume you have a markup..current at this time bitmain sale is $2,280 and that is too steep for me .at 15gs.....so I think I'm full
on scrypt pow asic's for the year..thanks

must be others that disagree on the site thou..they won't let me log off it locks up....I refresh and still in....heh Smiley

edit: STILL no supposed registered company reseller on the bw.com site as specified in above posts. Just saying. Not that I'd pay 2.5K for even 1 unit with the recent
crypto bloodshed this week.

and as usual bw.com answers NO emails about any supposed reseller or anything else for that matter. (4 attempts last 6 weeks none answered) (The motto is: they sell like hotcakes in China ..we don't give a f*ck) tm bw.com Smiley

Maybe your attitude has something to do with it Wink

It's not like they read this thread. Or they would have replied to a 💯 order 6 weeks
ago, when practical. Thus my assumption big player and big orders in  China 🇨🇳,
But no real game outside of China. Now at these prices and my assumption of the same attitude for

warranty and tech support, assuming you could even get one unit, consider me unimpressed at
this point in time.
3914  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bulltrap? Or Bull run restored? on: September 16, 2017, 08:53:44 AM

I've no idea. Right now I'm completely befuddled. Bitcoin will likely do one of ony 2 things imho.

1) go back to 5k FAST.

2) go back to 2.5k FASTER.

The 'ways' of bitcoin are mysterious to me. Sad

3915  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 16, 2017, 08:51:07 AM
Well, I don't want to jinx things, but it looks like the pricing volatility over the last 72 hours is finally starting to normalize.

Ain't gonna lie. That 25% swing over the last few days was felt in my crotch area for a little bit, there - A most unpleasant sensation.

We now return to our regularly scheduled moon-shot.

I hope.

I hear ya. It felt a little bit like a serious kick in the balls but in reverse, as in the pain increased slowly.

I am still worried though as the chart is behaving eerily similar to the 2013 crash. History repeats and all that.

On the other hand...if you are living in China and you want bitcoin as a hedge against just the kinda stunts the China Gov't just pulled...would you not
simply be more likely to just HOLD ...xfer your exchange stuff to a BTC paper wallet....or move it to an outside exchange...either one as a safe haven?

With this rebound...it seems the only thing that really makes sense....a big FU we are just gonna trade/mine locally and HODL.

It is not like China does not have a LOT of experience with an underground economy.

I know zip...just tossing it out there...but this whole week has left me wondering WTF a lot...I mean really you shut down Chinese Exchanges to local folk
in China and the price rebounds 25%.

Bitcoin: She is a fickle wench indeed! Smiley

Shipping 21-30 Nov

Surprise batch? That would explain their site not being flooded.

at 2280 for an L3+...it may stay dry as the Sahara for the next week Smiley

3918  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Launching the Antminer L3+, World's Most Powerful and Efficient Litecoin Miner on: September 14, 2017, 06:13:04 AM
Looks like there were a few L3+ that didn't complete the checkout process. As of 10:45PM PST, they are available again.

Gone in 3 minutes

maybe I'm just old and have already too much equipment and am jaded as heck

but really...this batch size and this batch delivery and what 4 batches before yet in the wind to be delivered yet?

I really, really can't see how even with a modest price pump back to 75 bucks for LTC a way for these to ROI after electric in less than
14 months maybe

anyway, again old fart for crypto (2013) maybe I'm just missing something or everyone 'just knows' the price of scrypt pow coins are gonna moon

but damn $2,280 bucks for a miner.... I suppose all will be fine if it was say LTC at 100 bucks..but why take the risk on the pump with equip?

just get coins? Unless everyone is like me and really, really needs the equip deduction to spin this top up again and mine next year

this old fart is not getting it at all (and don't even get me started on the D3 dash miner that is 4x riskier imho for ROI)

(ambles off..confused...mumbling to self.......kicking can.......mutter wtf..younger asic generation...in my day ......)

3919  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Launching the Antminer L3+, World's Most Powerful and Efficient Litecoin Miner on: September 14, 2017, 03:59:48 AM
L3+ is 2280 USD, Shipping: 11-20 Nov

A bit pricey but should still be able to turn nice profits.
You're in a dream world. You just don't understand this game at all. Mark this down. By January 2018 Scrypt mining will pay $250.00 P/M. With a real possibility of going lower. In January - February, I'll be buying these servers for 800-900 USD. What's your hurry to pay so much. Resellers are popping up all over the world trying to boost these things while Scrypt Profit is cliff diving. Do the math.

Ack! that is my plan damn it Ack!
3920  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: September 14, 2017, 03:57:30 AM
Well that was wierd took me 14 min to log out correctly...sheesh...fix your site already.....

edit:

Releasing both the d3 and l3+ at the same time and with added performance on the d3, i think this was deliberate in an attempt to test their new server improvements. We are the guinea pigs...

I think you are right. Now bitmain are gonna ask for refund on current server (because its crap!) and move to another better server....

They never frigging upgraded their server...they were catching such HELL on their facebook page they pretty much had to lie and say so..but no way..if sh*t sells out in 1 hour with
issues...why the frack would they bother .....nothing was done to improve servers it is obvious....

the reason the site is any more responsive is everyone looked these prices and punted off the site

at 1450 for an L3_ and 1000 for a D3 and it would be as locked up as previous batches imho

the newbies are wising up finally after all bimains batches of various flavors of asic equipment
