3981  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: where is my BCH on: February 05, 2018, 08:19:24 AM
before few weeks i transferred my BTC from one wallet (https://blockchain.info) to another company wallet

& now my new wallet company published a blog post that they will give BCH to only those user who had coins before 1 August

but i transferred my coins there in november
so do i have to contact https://blockchain.info for my BCH or i lost my BCH ?

As long as you held bitcoins in your blockchain.info wallet before 1st August when the Bitcoin Cash fork happened, then you should be able to claim them by exporting your private keys into a wallet that supports BCH.

I personally used the Electron Cash wallet to get my Bitcoin Cash, but I'm pretty sure there are other options. Coinomi seems to work as well.

There will be no way to claim the Bitcoin Cash from the wallet that you transferred the funds to after November since you didn't hold any balances with them before 1st August, which was when the snapshot of the blockchain was taken.
3982  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: changelly: waiting FOUR days for a tx to be processed. nothing but a runaround on: February 05, 2018, 07:17:14 AM
title says it all. i've sent several emails to support in addition to tweets.  i've been assured it will be processed 'shortly' but nothing.

to be clear, they have taken my funds and i've been stuck in the 'sending to your wallet' stage for 4 days.  their (lack of) response demonstrates a total lack of professionalism and my trust in this outfit has eroded considerably.  this is a rather sizeable tx and i hope it can be resolved very shortly.

the transaction id is ae5d8ecac157

It's not uncommon for changelly to receive these sorts of complaints. It's definitely not the first time that this has happened, which has resulted them in getting a negative trust previously for their shady activity.

The worst thing any company can do to you is not fulfill their promises, and then proceed to ignore you.

Your options now are:

- Send them a PM on forum
- Keep on trying to get an update on the ticket on reddit(which I see you've already done).
- Keep waiting.

Next time, seriously consider using shapeshift or just an exchange. Shapeshift will reimburse your funds instead of holding your funds for four days.

thanks for the response.  i've reached out to them via various channels.  i will go ahead and PM them though.
the problem with shapeshift is they have very low limit transactions.  obviously better to underpromise and overdeliver than the other way around, but this is the first big issue i've had with changelly.

i will keep the board posted on my progress.

Yeah, unfortunately as great a service shapeshift has been at least to me, they do have some pretty low limits. Plus if you exchange close to the limit either way, you will not get the bonus that you would otherwise be getting from them.

However, I personally would rather just use something like binance, and conduct small trades each one at a time, and be sure that I have the majority of my funds in my own pockets at a time, or even just use Shapeshift over and over again.

If they promised that the funds would be sent to you 'in near time', and 4 days later, there is still nothing, no updates, then that's an indication of how much anyone should trust them right there.
3983  Economy / Speculation / Re: Reasons for market drop - Panic, you lose! on: February 05, 2018, 07:10:06 AM
One of the two biggest reasons for the sustained dip has been happening for 4-5 months and the other is a usual yearly downtrend which has been observed in Bitcoin for years now. People didn't know until this year because, in case you didn't know, Bitcoin wasn't worth 1k until a year ago.

Reason 1 - Tether. Tether is crypto cancer. 2 billion Tether has been released in the market in just 4-5 months without fiat backing by Bitfinex. Tether is used to pump and dump all coins at once. If you notice the volume, Tether has roughly 10-15% of total market volume in any given 24 hour period which is enough to move the whole market one way and then the other. Bitfinex uses Tether across exchanges to manipulate and monopolize market opportunities.

Reason 2 - Chinese new year is on February 14. It's the largest human migration of the year and a pretty huge deal, bigger than Christmas. A big dip during this period happens on a yearly basis.

Seize your chance and buy the dip, have patience and you will be rewarded once Asian money flows back in. Asia is the biggest Bitcoin market.
On the one hand, we have people worrying about tether manipulation and since tether is traded against bitcoin on multiple big exchanges, if Tether can be printed out without any backing then obviously bitcoin could benefit as a result.

On the other hand, people are worried about regulations in crypto space, such as the strictening of rules in South Korea, India, and China.

It's not like we didn't know about Tether, or we didn't expect countries to do this from the first place. The only thing that explains this current drop is FUD and normal market fluctuations. I think right now is the dip to buy, imo.
3984  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it safe to invest in Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies in India? on: February 05, 2018, 06:52:08 AM
When you invest in a stock of a company there is a paper trail and your shares are securely held in your demat account. Crypto tokens, on the other hand, are stored in wallets which aren’t overseen by any central regulatory authority. Meaning you alone are responsible for the safety of it.

If your wallet, platform or an exchange is hacked there is no recourse to seek recompense. There are no investors protection funds, unlike capital markets and, hacks are common. So how do I guarantee the safety of my accounts in this case?

There are two options.

If you have an outdated, insecure computer that you know is full of viruses and you are physically and intellectually incapable of securing your own private keys, then you're probably better off storing the coins on a regulated exchange, such as Unocoin in India's case. Enable 2fa and all that. The risk of your account getting hacked is still there and I can assure you that it's much more risk of losing your money by storing on an exchange than storing on your own wallet.

Otherwise, store it on your own. Download electrum, and set it up. Takes like 1 minute. Or if you're storing a larger amount, use a hardware wallet.

Your funds if hacked will obviously be unrecoverable, but by using a desktop/hardware wallet the chances are close to zero, if you secure your computer well.
3985  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin lose its value if everyone's using it? on: February 04, 2018, 06:43:51 AM
I'm a little bit concern to the value of bitcoin. Will it decrease if everyone starts using bitcoin, since you know, it would be the standard and nothing would be special to it anymore? Thoughts anyone?

Nope. It wouldn't make sense if bitcoin became the agreed international trade currency and every single country's citizens are using it for day to day trade, and yet its value decreases as a result. That's just ridiculous.

The supply will stay on schedule, it won't print more bitcoins as a result of the mass adoption.

But essentially when bitcoin does replace fiat as the primary currency, it absorbs all the value of fiat. And we know that fiat's current market cap is much higher than bitcoin's or even all cryptos combined. Therefore, when everyone starts using bitcoin, its value will not go down, will not stay the same, but skyrocket.
3986  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin dip history on: February 04, 2018, 06:35:35 AM
The bitcoin price dip seems there is something common. The price dip at the middle of January since 2014. It could be this is already a behavior of Bitcoin price. Investors/Traders should be watchful on this.

Yep, as long as bitcoin has existed, there has been dips as a result of people dumping their share of coins because they feel like that the price won't go up much more. Same with 2013, and we're now around 8x the peak price of back then.

Right now, I think we're going to probably recover to above $10k, and then potentially enter a period where everyone thinks that bitcoin is dead and there is no more money to be made in investing in bitcoin.

That's when it's the best time to fill up your bags, because the price will be cheap. And when a pump comes, people will quickly hype over again. It's essentially a boom/bust cycle.
3987  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Can someone recommend a coinmixer? on: February 04, 2018, 06:27:05 AM
Hey guys,

im new to bitcoin, i would like to use a coinmixer for the first time.

I have read a lot about scamming sites. Can someone recommend me a good site and explain why i should trust them?

Thanks.  Smiley

My personal opinion is that chipmixer is the most reputable mixing service out there at the moment. There is also bitmixcoin, and privcoin. All three in my opinion are okay to use and it's very unlikely any of them will scam you, but I'll still trust chipmixer the most.

They've spent a ton of money on advertising on this forum, which means that they want to build the brand up and they're here to stay.

Plus, you can usually contact their forum rep directly if you have a question, which they will respond to reasonably quickly since they are quite active.

centi, you can also buy XMR and use xmr.to to anonymize your BTC transactions. There might be a paradigm shift starting to happen as more and more regulations come to cryptocurrencies. As a store of value privacy coins will be better for fungibility. As more and more criminals start using BTC, you wouldnt want your coins having links with crime related activities.

That's also a good option, but for now, I think not a lot of merchants accept XMR yet. But in the future, this may change.

3989  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Coinlisit.com Live cryptocurrency prices, market capitalization, trades, volumes on: February 04, 2018, 06:09:08 AM
I like the site personally. However I just don't see enough fetaures that are different to other existing sites to make your site any more desirable to the user. Most people will probably just use coinmarketcap for their crypto tracking.

Still though, I love the fact that you put the top gainers and losers in the front page. It means that people can actually get the info they need on the home page without having to navigate to additional pages.

Right now, everything that you provide is already available on coinmarketcap. Perhaps include some more advanced indicators like the RSI, for each coin.
3990  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Exodus wallet on: February 04, 2018, 05:20:13 AM
Hello. Has anyone any experience of this wallet? Looking to hold bitcoin in it. Up to now I have held in exchanges but want to hold in my own wallet.

Yes, I'm using it to hold a bunch of altcoins.

It's much better than Jaxx because they have a team that actually care and their support is actually knowledgeable and will try to answer your queries to the best ability they possibly can. This is what I have discovered first hand when I had a question about their service.

Will I recommend them for storage of bitcoins? Absolutely. And it's much more secure than an exchange, since there is no chance of them running a fractional reserve and hacks will not be centralised.

But if you are storing large amounts, make sure you get a cold wallet instead of using exodus or even other desktop clients, since those are only as secure as your computer.
3991  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Dude PMs me, pretending he can get me free merits on: February 04, 2018, 05:13:13 AM
So what should I do? Is this message here enough to get him banned? Or shall I have a talk with him and play dumb?

EDIT: profile link

This probably belongs to the reputation section instead of scam accusations since there is no verifiable scam going on. It might be that he is giving you an unethical way of farming merits which is definitely not acceptable by the forum community, but he's not really scamming you either.

This guy will get a negative trust if DT guys can verify that he's legitimately farming/selling merits or merit abuse methods.

He won't get banned, as Madz said it's just not a bannable offense. I doubt he'll even respond to you now with the info after he sees this scam accusation thread. Just make sure that you don't abuse the merit system, and you will be fine.
3992  Economy / Speculation / Re: This time its different on: February 04, 2018, 05:03:53 AM
So we've had dips before.

And I think this one has a lot further to go, don't be fueled by today's rally.

But in the past bitcoin has always come back, grown stronger, gained more followers.

But this time, there won't be new followers. Well maybe a few, but not in the orders of magnitude that have happened in the past.

Practically everyone knows about bitcoin now. Next time it upsurges there won't be the fresh blood incoming, getting carried away.

So yeah, probably the last time you'll see bitcoin near $10k, will be today.

Enjoy.

You've gotten a few things wrong here.

One is that bitcoin doesn't have as many adopters as you think. The percentage of people who even know about bitcoin across the world can still expand exponentially, let alone the amount of actual users or adopters of the technology.

Two is that bitcoin hasn't hit $10k again, but I think that it will next week.

Worst case is that this is the last pump of 2018, but I don't think that's going to happen. And even if that happens, bitcoin will definitely bounce back to a higher level in 2020-2021, when the halving happens once again.
3993  Economy / Speculation / Re: NO down trend more, new update coming soon! 9540 coming! BReaking news!! on: February 04, 2018, 04:56:11 AM
Back under 9k on bitcoin wisdom. Appears rally has stalled. Weekends seem to do that 5hough, should be an interesting week ahead

Indeed. Though market cap is now well above $150 billion again, which is a good sign.

I think that right now, people are still trying to figure out what is going to happen. Imo we've had 2 days worth of bullish markets already, which is a good start for the recovery. I do expect the $10k mark to be broken once again, though it will prove to be a challenge.

Expect some sideways movement at first, but after the sideways movement a big pump in price to bring it up to $12k+.

Though in the short term, we could be seeing some more small-scale dumps. I don't see much point with the 9540 target by OP though.
3994  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Discord Escrow Service on: February 04, 2018, 04:49:44 AM
This isn't safe, because you don't know who people are on discord and your group probably will be accused of trying to scam.

Unless of course you have one of the reputable members from the forum in your group acting as the primary escrow, then I doubt that anyone is going to use your discord service. It's basically the same as sending someone that you don't know a large sum of money over the internet.

Anyone reading this thread and wanting to find a legit escrow, I recommend using someone on the forum that has dark green trust and has escrowed previously lots of funds for projects and individuals. Don't just find some random guy and tell him to escrow funds for you.
3995  Economy / Lending / Re: Need 0.015 BTC loan with collateral! on: February 04, 2018, 12:59:09 AM
Hello i want to loan 0.014 or .015 btc then i will back it after 2 weeks with 10% interest
My collateral is my (BITCOIN WHITE 299 pcs) its already on bitflip.li exchanger !!

My bitcoin address is : 3PfritCsKrgYZKKe1R4QpFhgPet6iSyZSC

Your collateral is only worth in total around 0.015 BTC.

Even though it is an altcoin it is ranked 1000+ on coinmarketcap, meaning that its market cap is extremely small(actually unknown). There is only one exchange that has recently listed it, which means if Bitflip decides to remove it from their exchange then there is no other way of selling these coins.

Plus, the project is worthless and does not innovate in any way at least imo.

This is not stable collateral as atomicat said, and it's not 120% of loan value. I'll consider your loan as well if more collateral was offered in a more stable form.
3996  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: HooLi Bitcoin Transaction Accelerator on: February 03, 2018, 03:23:15 AM
When you submit transactions to a legit transaction accelerator it does not increase the fee of your transaction. All it does is that it prioritises the transaction to be confirmed when they mine a block.

In this hooli transaction accelerator, they are definitely not a mining pool, so any transactions that you submit to them are probably not going to be actually accelerated and the whole site is literally just there to scam people's money.

Since the amounts involved are >0.1 BTC and I think you'd like to have access to these funds because of the volatility of BTC right now, use pushtx.btc.com. I did a rough estimate on your transaction, and it should take around $21 right now to accelerate it. BTC.com actually owns a mining pool, and have reviews on their accelerator. $21 is a decent price to pay.
3997  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Wells fargo refused to wire transfer my money because "it came from coinbase". on: February 03, 2018, 03:15:10 AM
I went into my local wells fargo branch today to do a wire transfer of funds from my checking account but they refused to wire my money on the grounds that "they have a policy against wiring funds that come from coinbase". Apparently all USD is equal but some USD is more equal than other USD. They said I can still write a check using the money just no wire transfers. Oh thank you massa... Hopefully it's true... I'm attempting to use a check written from wells fargo over to my credit union and then do the wire transfer from there. But of course that's going to take an effing week because the legacy banking system is a god damned disgrace.

I cant be too mad. I knew they were this bad. Part of the reason I invested in crypto so long ago is precisely because I knew how awful they were and I was right and made a lot of money betting against them. If they weren't this terrible I never would have had the success that I have. The last laugh belongs to me.

Wtf that's crazy... And it shows exactly what the flaws of traditional centralised banking is. Not to go on a rant, but, honestly, if you don't have fungibility in your currency then that currency is just no good.

Why the hell would they limit your ability to wire funds, but not write checks? That doesn't make sense to me. BTW, are you able to withdraw cash from ATMs still? If yes then you can probably avoid the week long wait.

Bitcoin is fungible, and there are cryptos like monero that are even more fungible because there is no tracing of where the funds came from.

Guess the entire fiat sector is scared of cryptos becoming mainstream, though.
3998  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: 100% Proof that Monetize Coin is a SCAM !!! on: February 03, 2018, 03:07:17 AM
Lmao. Apparently they differ from every other lending platform because they are "next gen". More like a "next generation" scam.

Quote
Our enterprise level, automated, machine learning, traffic arbitrage platform outperforms any so-called "volatility trading bots" for investor returns.

This cracked me up a little. It just feels like that they have put every single technical word they know of and put them all in one sentence. And the only thing that they claim separates them from the rest, is something nonexistent, and they have no proof of existing.

I doubt this is actually a ponzi scheme but instead just a scam that will take your money as soon as you invest in it, because apparently you are able to withdraw your investments instantly, and we know if that actually is true, then the whole scheme would collapse.
3999  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Poloniex: the whorst support service! on: February 03, 2018, 01:58:24 AM
.. At least with poloniex there is a chance that you get lucky and get a response from them.

For me, i sent them a request and 2 days later, they responded to it.

How long ago was that? Was it years ago you made that request?

I haven't heard of anyone else getting such a fast response in the last six months.

Nope. It was in January, about 1-2 days before I posted that post.

You're right though, because I have not heard about anyone getting such a fast response from them either, so when I got my awaiting approval withdrawal cleared I was pretty much ecstatic. For others though, it may have to be a 1 month or even multiple month wait for a response from them.

Just because my experience was fast, doesn't mean the rest of the people who use it will have the same experience. The speed of them answering support tickets can vary depend on circumstances that we do not publicly know.

Poloniex is still a crap exchange for now, and after I got my funds out I'm not going to return until they improve their support.
4000  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BitGrail - Withdraw is not allowed anymore for my Country. What now? on: February 03, 2018, 01:49:08 AM
BitGrail said they will not allow withdraws for non-EU countries anymore. They just blocked without saying "you have 1 week to withdraw and then we will close non-EU accounts". That's not fair.

So, what do I do to recover my money? Or I can't recover it and it is lost in BitGrail account for ever?

When I transferred my money to BitGrail, they did not ask for Account Verification, now that I want to withdraw it, they ask to verify my account - BUT it is only possible to get a verified account for EU countries, not for non-EU countries.

Oh Jesus - Did I lost all my money? What is BigGrail doing?
I'm not familiar with Bitgrail. However just saying that they don't support non-Europe users anymore is not a good enough explanation for them to take your funds without any warning. It's still your funds, no matter what. You verifying your account is definitely the first step to take, though.

Also contact support, explain the situation to them, because the verification process may take more than 1 week to go through. Nobody knows at this stage and if you don't tell them early, they may say that 1 week is up and your account is closed.

This is a surprise though. They should give at least 1 month notice, not 1 week.
