41  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Block Erupter USB - Overclocking/ hacking ? on: August 15, 2013, 08:15:02 AM
Fascinating thread! It's pretty impressive that you're getting almost 200MHs more and the fact that it seems fairly stable is great. I just presumed that they'd be clocked as highly as possible!
42  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: vdragon Erupter-Groupbuy-Scam : Task Force on: August 14, 2013, 09:32:42 PM
whaaaaaa HuhHuh  You understand the concept behind bitcoin right?  The whole non-reversible part?  The whole part about only you controlling your money and no one else?  What made you be interested in bitcoins anyways?
Yes I understand the concept entirely. Bitcoin trades require trust on some level. My point is that the process of getting these products required group buys which involved placing trust in someone, escrow couldn't remove the scam potential. I'm surprised there wasn't more scams of this kind. Read my other posts in this thread to fully understand my point and you may either agree or disagree. If you don't understand what I mean or want to argue against my opinion feel free to send me a PM and we can discuss. My controversial post has taken over this thread.
43  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Large bitcoin mining farm mining 4 blocks a day having made 1600BTC on: August 14, 2013, 08:50:22 AM
Speculative nonsense, how much do you think someone with a few Avalon boxes and a bit of luck could do?
I agree it is totally speculative to claim it is BFL, but it is more than a few Avalon boxes. Based on the rate they are hashing, if they are using Avalon boxes it would be between 50 and 100 of them.

Looking at the dates of their "savings account" http://blockchain.info/address/16ygEoTjg7P5GJwLKTQd1UgqAGuF8bKVRc  it does look like BFL
pre-mining mini rigs.  Nothing new here.  Avalon has been doing this since January.

Or someone broke sha256, mined 34 million and retired.
And then sends it to 158mVoizfU3xPxGGchGtnsKSixGs9XTo6v which has received 98000 BTC since March this year.

Pre-mining should be carried out on the test net.
44  Economy / Auctions / Re: 471 ASICMINER direct shares, fixed price, 4.18 each share on: August 14, 2013, 08:38:00 AM
I agree to the terms. I've sent my payment. PMed Coco888 with email address, and share address.

Thanks.

This is very useful information. Thanks for the announcement.
46  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: vdragon Erupter-Groupbuy-Scam : Task Force on: August 10, 2013, 10:17:00 PM
That is complete bullshit, sorry.
Serious group-buyers use escrow. The rest get scammed. Period.

This is completely outrageous to suggest that (one of ?) the only asics provider with real stock should cover for a scam involving his products ?
You want him to pay for all the AM shares scams, too ?

You pissed me off, there.
I don't understand how escrow could have been used in this case. The seller needs the money to send the product so either you trust the main group buyer with all the money and then all of the products before sending them out or you send the money to an escrow, they send to the seller and the main group buyer still has to be trusted with all of the products before mailing them out to the group buyers. Please clarify my outrageous line of thought if I'm wrong. As far as I know all of the block eruptors go to one address.
47  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: vdragon Erupter-Groupbuy-Scam : Task Force on: August 10, 2013, 02:55:08 PM
If I were him I'd feel partly responsible for your loss

BS. Stop "feeling sorry" on other people's BTC. You wish to pay for all the scams going on, go ahead.

Alternatively, the various muppets thinking they're hot shit on the basis of having said the word "Bitcoin" fifty times the past week and having "been involved" for "a long time" by nobody having heard of them ever since last Autumn need to chill the fuck out, read my posts, get with the program and stop feeding the scammers.

What the hell does the peanut gallery think Bitcoin is, anyway?
I've always wondered why your ignore button is so lit up. I justified my reasoning. I know there is a lot of fraud in the forums but this is a bit different. The means that these were sold made them vulnerable to fraud and I feel that part of this responsibility lies with the seller.

49  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: vdragon Erupter-Groupbuy-Scam : Task Force on: August 10, 2013, 08:33:56 AM
Would there be any way that the seller of the blockerruptors (friedcat?) would give you the block eruptors you paid for? I know that fraud takes place in these forums all the time but it seems that this one was unavoidable. The way that they were being sold meant you needed to place trust in one person and escrow wasn't easy or practical. Has anyone tried emailing him make him aware of the situation. If I were him I'd feel partly responsible for your loss and I'm sure a few blockeruptors wouldn't break his bank when I'm sure it has for a lot of you guys.

Sorry if this is a stupid suggestion or it has been done already, it just seems investigation is becoming stale and it's not looking good.
50  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTB/WTB/WTS] Buy, Barter, Sell with Exocyst + 3D printing service on: August 09, 2013, 07:27:19 AM
I'm curious, what "molecular biology" services do you offer?

DNA construction:
You need a custom DNA sequence? You send me the sequence you want and preferably a template DNA (if the sequence is over 250bp), and I use PCR to create or edit an existing sequence, and I clone it into an expression vector of your choice (which you may have to provide if I don't have access to it). I would even consider generating viral particles carrying the DNA, but there are legal/ethical limitations as to the tropism of said virus.
Could you make me some ecoli/another bacteria that would produce testosterone as long as I kept feeding it and then I could sell it to my body building friends?!

Molecular biology is fun. I took a break from my studying and did a year in a lab doing PCR, cell culture and putting things into viruses and cells and watching them work! I really enjoyed it. Your service may not be the most popular one using bitcoins though unless you start offering illegal virus modification!

How much would you charge for your 3D printing service? Do you print in one colour? Can colours be added later? Do you just need a 3D model? Do you charge a different amount for different sizes? Postage to UK?

Thanks! And good luck getting someone to buy your DNA sequences.
51  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Getting Wikipedia to accept Bitcoin donations - Community pledge on: August 09, 2013, 07:10:39 AM
I support this idea but I've already sent my yearly payment to wikipedia. To be honest I would still use my credit card even if bitcoin was a payment option since I still find bitcoins difficult to obtain and like keeping them when I have them.
52  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 0.5btc to loan to you. on: August 08, 2013, 08:34:11 AM
Be careful tincan. You more than likely will not see your bitcoins again once you send them.
53  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: 40 BTC Gone - Please Help Me Understand What Happened on: August 08, 2013, 07:15:17 AM
If someone had managed to gain access to your private keys then you'd not have been sent the 2 factor code so someone has gained access to your phone, either when you're not looking or via a virus. I'd think back to that date to see if any techy 'friends' were playing with your phone. A virus you can't do much about but at least you could confront a friend.

How generous! Enter me please! Are the items posted or sent electronically? I presume you can post all over the world since you can on your site?

It looks really nice and clean. How many GPUs are you going to install?

Would you mind updating with total cost of the rig and case once you're done?!

Thanks.
57  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 100 TH/s jump today on: August 05, 2013, 02:41:29 PM
Next difficulty increase will be 26%!  Shocked

Anyone notice where the increase has been? In a pool or by an individual miner (unknown)?

Scary stuff. Makes me want to use a vpn for everything. Then I'd be trusting my privacy with them though...
59  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: August 02, 2013, 12:28:40 PM
I also have 20 USB Block Eruptors on the way, but for now, this is what i have running at work (free power!)
There have been stories of people being sacked for using work computers to mine. Isn't your job worth more to you than some bitcoins?
60  Economy / Lending / Re: CoinLenders :: Get bitcoin loans, and get fee rebates on your deposits! on: August 01, 2013, 09:45:06 AM
At the bottom of all of the tabs on the coinlenders site it says "Logged in as '' ". Perhaps you forgot to put in the variable. It also says it on pages when you're not logged in. I seem to remember noticing it a while back too but it didn't really click.

I'm a stickler for detail. I just thought I'd point it out in case you wanted to sort it when you got a chance.

And thanks for my rebates. I hope you've made money from this site and your other ventures. This one seems to be the only one that has the potential for you to make any profit from but you seem like a smart guy! I'm sure you've got it all thought out.
