They did NOT have to earn it like all new users will have to now!! I didn't have to do anything to get where I am right now? Man, I wonder what I have been doing the last 5 years then.  did a fairy just make you a staff member? was it like the merit system and I missed out? He may not have banned the user (According to you) because he may have been wrong at first or the user may have changed his way. The users with merits will keep on merit each other or same as the rich people do charity, they will merit some newbie every now and then to show their generosity and supremacy.
Why would this happen as merits have no financial value at all to higher up accounts? They're worthless to users like me. I would probably rather give them out more liberally to newer users making great posts and give them out minimally and sparingly to more established members just as a worthless 'tip' or token of appreciation and that I acknowledge their post. Agreed. They are worthless to me also but i think it's a great fun system. I have been looking for lower Ranks posts in hopes to REWARD them with a merit or two. New users now have to actually try harder with their posts to earn merits and when they get them they will actually appreciate it. It's a Win win system for all i think. |

As we are all aware of the fact that a new "Merit" based system is in action, will the trust system get eradicated or may become obsolete?
Let's say that someone received a negative feedback for doing something bad like - account farming / sales / scam / spam / etc.
As we can see in their trust rating, it will be dark red.
But the main question here is, if such people realize what they did and actually start contributing to the forum and get merit points as well from established people here (as nobody can be stopped to give them merit points but we can decide that whose points are worth to be considered), will these people get another chance to start trading / given jobs like management or able to join signatures?
That's something hit on my mind and I thought that it's better to ask because both these systems can't go hand-in-hand (based on what I'm observing after the implementation of merits).
Trust is more prevalent in the marketplace, I frequent and trade in collectibles tons.. now every trade I look at trust ratings, I don't adhere to the 2 levels of DT as the standard setting and I have a few exclusions on my list - but that is my bible when it comes to trading. if someone I trust or have dealt with has dealt with someone I will ask them if the other party is a good trading partner, then based on the amount to transact I then make a decision about using escrow or not. with 30+ people in that Sub I don't even have to look, I know its an instant trade with no escrow some deals for 5+ BTC.. so no - we need both systems and both can go hand in hand if they are embraced by all I agree. I also use the trust system for selling and buying. I rely on it to see if there is any Questionable history with the user. I will ignore a Red "Spammer" or "Shitposter" when conducting business though as it has nothing to do with Trust and the deal we would be making. The trust system is Very much needed and i hope it stays. |

We are a community here and we joined here in order to learn and not to earn. Maybe some see this new system as a benefit but some may see this as a problem. We can't do anything about it since we are not the developers. Lets just thank the devs because they created this forum where most if not all of the information about cryptocurrency is here. In my opinion, I am a full member now and it will be 150 merits away to rank up but I didn't say anything about it. Lets say that some Legendaries now gained their rank because of shitty posts, can we do anything about it? We can't and lets accept it. With this new merit system, I am at the middle of it. For me, I see this forum as a learning place not a earning place since this forum is created to share information to others. This forum is like an online library for me. You are so full of Shit. That's partially why I sped up work on merit. I don't agree with using the trust system for pure spam; that's not what it was designed for.
