According to the wiki, difficulty can be calculated by dividing the maximum target by the current target. However, I'm unclear on how exactly the target value returned from a getwork call is encoded (and more importantly, how it should be de-encoded to calculate difficulty using this method). Do I simply swap it to little-endian (and if so, how?), or is there a more complicated process? Example code (Python) using the current target: >> target = "00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000006e8102000000000000" >> target = process(Target) >> maxtarget = "00000000ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff" >> difficulty = int(maxtarget, 16) / int(target, 16) >> print difficulty 6695826
Any advice would be appreciated.

Out of pure curiosity, where on earth did you find 147 GB hard drives? That's not a size I've ever heard of.
Seriously ? That is pretty common with sas drives also just like all fast drives above 10,000 RPM they are usually smaller drives for better disk i/o and overall performance . You didn't mention SCSI specifically so I assumed otherwise. Thanks for clarifying, that certainly makes more sense.

WTF?! he didnt refund me either! He said last week in email I would be on this fridays list to receive refund. Still fucking havent.........
A lot of people received a mail that Tom will refund them on friday. I think not a single one really get any refund. Maybe the previous refund reports are only fake - check the original list in post #1! I got a refund on Friday. Progress seems to continue, albeit probably more slowly than some of us would like.

Let me get this straight. You're trying to convince the forum moderators to apply the (ludicrously overestimated) "scammer tag" based on the results of a trivially manipulable public vote to a forum member who is neither buying nor selling anything? Good luck. I voted yes. I'm an agent of chaos.
Or a fantasized internet justiciar with too much time on his hands and too many idolized entertainment industry fabrications in his past. Not that it matters.

there was a list of 7 people in the bylaws who all committed themselves to the loan of mining capacity which they still owe btw (the year long contract is still open)
not sure if I made copies of all pages from the site, maybe archive.org knows something.
and for the "best effort, no guarantee" argument, well, this is no effort.
Caveat emptor, in this case, I'm afraid. While I agree with you, you can't enforce an interpreted concrete meaning from a purposefully vague statement. Idealist goes in with ardor, meets the reaping scythe of reality, runs out screaming and retreats back to their little hole of isolation, all morals, cares, and idealism gone. That seems to be the story of the Bitcoin economy right now.

Due to similar limitations, I likewise may have trouble pursuing legal recourse, but I fully support this initiative and would be glad to render assistance in any way I can.

Please don't get mired in tangential nitpicking. puck2 makes a good point. Dave, what further information can you release to help us get our money back? I understand you personally can do no more, and you've done an admirable job so far, but those of us who payed with Bitcoins are still in dire straits. Anything you can tell us would be appreciated.

And once again, those who actually payed in the currency we're trying to promote get the short end of the stick.

In cases of share transference where you have already submitted a withdrawal address - is the intention to forward funds or change the address if the shares are purchased by someone other than yourself?
(Apologies if this question has been answered elsewhere or is for whatever reason superfluous; I've been gone from the Bitcoin scene for awhile)
Yes, ownership will be transferred by signing a statement with the deposit address on file. I'll also manually transfer anything I receive from sale or refund if appropriate. Excellent, thanks for the prompt response.
