41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CoinMarketCap.com - Market Cap Rankings of All Cryptocurrencies! on: January 01, 2015, 01:08:44 AM

Hi Coinmarketcap,

We noticed that you are having problems with reading API stream of actual data from C-CEX.com and longer time also with Coins-E.com

Please fix it. It is not fair when data on trading for other exchanges are delayed.

Furthermore, why are not on the list of other exchanges that trade with CzechCrownCoin (CZC)?

Crown-EX.com
Askcoin.net
CCnex.com

All updated, thanks

Can you add our new NBT/BTC market. It has received over 5 BTC of volume after its second day of operation.

Which exchange?

How is it possible this exchange you just added (https://www.ccnex.com/trade/BC/quick) has 27 BTC worth of BLK traffic without ever getting told by the blackcoin community they switched to BLK instead of BC. Never having advertised in the BLK subreddit or the BLK IRC and their twitter is followed by hundreds of eggs (bots).

They are clearly generating fake volume.

Do you not vet at all anymore?

I've reached out to them to give an explanation of how they calculate their volume, thanks.

Where can I find a total market cap of all coins as a historical graph?

Please for the love of santa! This is such an importantcy to cryptocurrency as a whole in terms fo the wider economy! Where is this metric?!

Agreed.  It's coming soon.

XPY really only has a market cap of still well under 7 million if you really only consider the existing float on the free market.

It's bogus to count the pre-mined supply of coins still controlled by the devs as part of market cap, or does anyone think that price wouldn't crash if that supply really were made available.

There's a big difference between pie in the sky and reality.  Wink

This is what I initially thought too, but AFAIK the initial investors can sell the prime controller as an entire unit whenever they want which is why it's included in the available supply.

Dont want to get attacked here but have one simple question I would like answered by coinmarketcap and anyone else can add if they like.

How come you dont have the link below as your main page? The following link filters all the non mineable and premined coins.

By you having the other view, you just give great advertising to coins like paycoin, ripple and stellar who instantly jump past other hard working coins because they have so many coins available and a massive market cap while pushing the rest of the good coins down.
This fools new people joining the crypto world to buy these coins in the top 20 because of a massive marketcap based on premined or non minable coins when they probably have no ideas about this?

All the first coins that were put on your site have been pushed down further and further everytime you have premined coins with massive marketcaps added. How about rewarding the hard working devs and not the guys trying to cheat there way to the top with premined coins getting all the exposure and fooling new investors?

If people want to invest in those types of coins they can but the real coins list should be the default page of your site.

http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/views/filter-non-mineable-and-premined/

Anyways you guys can crucify me now or agree, leave it up to you.

snakey

The #1 purpose of the site is to give a simple high level view of all the different crypto-currencies in the space.  It's not about rewarding devs, fooling investors, or picking winners and losers.  When in doubt, I believe it's better to keep information as open and transparent as possible so the user is empowered to make their own decision rather than being influenced by our own biases.  That is why the default listing shows everything.

If people want to invest in those types of coins they can but the real coins list should be the default page of your site.

Instead of CMC using broad classifications like: "Not-Mineable" and "Pre-mined" they should have 3 categories:

PoW Coins - Coins sustained by Miners
PoS Coins - Coins sustained by Stakers
Pre-mined Coins - Centralized Coins

Interesting idea.  Note that some coins can belong to all three categories.

XPY Available supply now reflects the amount in circulation as shown on the block explorer: https://chainz.cryptoid.info/xpy/

With the amount of last minute changes to this launch, can you blame them? This is a highly unregulated IPO/ICO which may even be illegal. What is wrong about being careful? There are many unanswered questions that create large red flags  like -
Seems as if they are stumbling around half blind looking for the correct numbers.

https://hashtalk.org/topic/24461/can-we-see-the-registration-as-msb/2

And again: Market cap is pure math only! "false statements and exaggerations" have NOTHING to do with market cap, get it.

Why don't you create a competing site that uses simple math to compare coinmarket caps. Coinmarketcap has different metrics to judge how many coins are in circulation than you. They aren't counting over 2/3rds of ripples either.

A Better judge of a coins strength would be an algorithm that compared price to average daily liquidity because Bitcoin's 4-5 billion market cap is bullshit as well.

Last minute changes....have ZERO relevance for market cap.

Why should i do? Only thing i want that they CLEARY state that their numbers are manipulated. They pretend to show "Crypto-Currency Market Capitalizations" but show manipulated numbers that have nothing to do with "Market Capitalizations".

Numbers aren't manipulated.  Excluding the amount held by the issuers is just another useful way to calculate a market cap:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_float

If you want to see rankings based on the total supply issued, there is special view for that:   http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/views/market-cap-by-total-supply/

Hi:
Please add Viorcoin, I already submitted the application few days ago.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=834910.0

https://bittrex.com/Market/Index?MarketName=BTC-VIOR

Isn't BitShares called BTS instead of BTSX ?

Hey, can you please change Horizon's ticker name from NHZ to HZ?

Hey can you guys add Diode. I just submitted the form for you.

Hello.
I contact you to asking if you can add our cryptocurrency exchange ALCUREX (https://alcurex.org) in your site.

Can you please add FindYouCoin (FIND) to the list.

KAR KarpelesCoin

Hey Gliss, KarpelesCoin seems it has been disappeared, it would nice if it was again.

Thanks in adavance Wink

Please add again Faircoin

All updated.

Please consider adding the bitEUR and bitGOLD market assets to CMC. Those markets are open as > 50 delegates are publishing price feeds for those assets.

Also I think it be useful if the assets view contained an "issuer type" header. This could specify if the asset supply is user issued or market issued. I think this is an important distinction because the available supply of user issued assets can be increased by the user that issued it, but in the case of market assets, the supply changes when shorts on the decentralized exchange are matched.

Thanks for creating CMC, it is very useful and I look at it far too much.

Rob

Will add bitEUR and bitGOLD soon.

SJCX has a maximum of 500 million asset coins (and locked), not 41 millions that it is now Smiley

...
8/22/14 11:25:51pm   Token locked
8/22/14 10:39:01pm   An additional 396,383,969.0281 units issued. Total issuance increased to 500,000,000 units
...

But most are still held by the devs, so they aren't part of the available supply.

46  Economy / Economics / Re: Tracking total Market Cap of all Cryptocurrencies on: November 21, 2014, 12:59:33 PM
In Jan 2014 http://coinmarketcap.com showed total market cap of all cryptocurrencies as >$8bn. It's now <$6bn. The site shows the total as a snapshot at the top of the page.

Is there a website out there that tracks and graphs this change over time, maybe for the top 50 or 100? I think it might be useful for creating a form of Cryptocurrency price index like the dow or ftse (if it's not already been done).

Yeah definitely, I'm working on that (the graphs of total marketcap over time)

you do not show correct tradevolume for unobtanium on coinbroker.io
Needs a fix since coinbroker recently has more volume. Thanks a lot.

Looks correct to me, still broken?

Yes please add Bitbay Smiley

I messaged Gliss way back about a json feed I set up especially from him, but I never heard back from him and that feed was never used, so I figured he found another way of doing it. Guess he ended up just polling the api for the website directly, but yesterday I put the site behind Cloudflare and so I had to change the api port, that's probably why it's broke. Are you in contact with him? He just needs to change the port to 2095 instead of 1591..

regarding BitUSD price feed - totally broken right now

Hi,

You are using an old block explorer for noble coin which is not working any more,
The current amount of coins displayed is not correct because of that (Should be 2.2B).

Please switch to https://chainz.cryptoid.info/nobl/ as the block explorer for noble coin.
Thank you Smiley

Hi. You are using a block explorer for Gapcoin that apparently doesnt show coin supply.

I would suggest you use this block explorer http://coinia.net/gapcoin/blockexplorer.php  where you can see coin supply here http://coinia.net/gapcoin/getbalance.php?api=total

Hi Gliss,

I am sorry, I have new info for UFO Coin.

The bitcointalk thread now is https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=844754.0

and the coinmarketcap shows no exchange info which is https://betasharex.com/trade/UFO/BTC

I submitted those via the google form but not sure if it works

I would like to ask you to update those if possible

Thank you very much!

Hey Gliss,

Please Remove Bittrex from Silkcoin listings on coinmarketcap as we have requested to be delisted from their exchange.

The current link to Bittrex is now dead on CMC.

Thanks!

All updated, thanks.

Hi Gliss.

Great work with coin market cap, I am sure you get a ton of web traffic. I have a couple suggestions for you.

After clicking on a certain currency the graph of the market cap and price is very nice and easy to read. Once you get down to the graph on the volume though, it leaves a little to be desired. If there was large fluctuations in volume for the time period you have selected, the volume chart can sometimes be pretty useless as it's hard to tell what the volume is. This is due to the lines being so small in some cases, the range on the left not being detailed enough, and because when you hover over the lines no number value pops up (like on the market cap/price graph). I think it would go a long ways towards the usefulness of the volume graph to at the very least make it to where the numbers will pop up when the volume lines are hovered over. Perhaps you can think of some other way of making it easier.. there are not a lot of places that track historical volume or at least historical volume aggregated from multiple exchanges so I think this would be a nice feature of the website.

I also request that Nubits and bitUSD be treated similarly. Nubits is currently listed as a currency and bitUSD is listed as an asset, yet they both share their blockchain with their main tokens.. NuShares and BitsharesX respectively. Nubits and bitUSD are both cryptos whose values are pegged to the US dollar, and share block chains with other tokens. It is contradictory to have both Nubits and Nushares as separate listings under Currencies when bitUSD, bitBTC, etc, are listed under Assets but BitsharesX is listed under Currencies. I think some sort of policy should be set for tokens that share block chains as to which should be listed as Currencies and which should be listed as Assets. That way everything is fair & organized.

Thanks for the great website!

Thanks for the suggestions.  Definitely looking into upgrading the charts.  As for Nubits/BitUSD,  I thought Nubits was a separate blockchain.  Which other blockchain is it on?
49  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CoinMarketCap.com - Market Cap Rankings of All Cryptocurrencies! on: November 02, 2014, 02:59:46 PM
Today's volume for DOGE seems like a joke. 14,046,500$ from ANXPRO seems highly unlikely, is this an error?
Same for Stellar.

Yeah it's fixed now, conversion error.
50  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CoinMarketCap.com - Market Cap Rankings of All Cryptocurrencies! on: October 30, 2014, 12:18:57 PM
A helpful sortable column would be "Date Established". I am always curious at the amount of time a coin has been alive. It'd probably be too much work to track down all the dates but it would help me sort the oldest, mature coins from the brand new coins just getting started.

Like a "founded" column or 1st block date. Just someway to STR coins by maturity.

+1

for the 'circa' column, simply 4 characters,  month and year -- 1114 would be November 2014

Yep that would work!

Yep, I have all that in DOACC (see sig) and in RDF to boot.

I ensured that each DOACC entry has an “incept date” of YYYY-MM. Yes, it was a lot of work but I saw it as essential to DOACC. And, once completed, it's then well worth maintaining, at least from a disciplinary perspective if not a financial one.

It allows me to publish the altcoin launch graphs/graphics on Minkiz front page (http://minkiz.co/). Another, less compelling, example of where I use it is in Minki’s version of the bitcointalk Sleepers list. The details are a bit rough'n'ready atm, still in “ninja launch” mode.

If Gliss is interested, we could use DOACC to backfill a “founded” column for all the altcoins currently listed at coinmarketcap (AIUI, assets have their own release date calendar courtesy of the asset issue mechanism), merely by posing an appropriate SPARQL query of the the DOACC RDF graph, along the lines:
Code:
PREFIX skos: <http://www.w3.org/2004/02/skos/core#>
PREFIX doacc: <http://purl.org/net/bel-epa/doacc#>

SELECT ?node ?label ?symbol ?incept WHERE
{
?node skos:prefLabel ?label .
?node doacc:symbol ?symbol .
?node doacc:incept ?incept.
}
LIMIT 25
(If you want to see it working, just copynpasta the above into the form field on http://minkiz.co/sparql)

The only hiccough is a few differences in trading symbols, apparently inherited from the regrettable practice of major exchanges deciding to ignore the actual symbol specified in the bitcoinunits.cpp code.

For example, see Silkcoin, referenced as “SILK” on the exchanges --- and consequently in the coinmarketcap stats (http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/silkcoin/) --- which, if everybody had their druthers, is actually “SC” in the wallet code (https://github.com/shnurf/silkcoin/blob/master/src/qt/bitcoinunits.cpp#L38).

For DOACC, I chose to go by the verifiable fact of what's actually specified in the C++ code.

For my occasional use of cross-referencing DOACC data with coinmarketcap data, I use a map (Python dictionary) of coinmarketcap symbols -> DOACC symbols. We'd turn the dictionary mapping into a separate graph of RDF statements and either use it to augment a copy of the main DOACC graph or act as a source for a federated query - both of which are fairly trivial to do.

btw, I'd say that your instincts are correct; given the calendarial flexibility of “ninja” launches, YYYY-MM is about as precise as you can sensibly get / need to be.

Cheers

Graham

This is great, I'll take a deeper look soon.

Gliss, can you please consider changing the front page to show "all" instead of just "currencies"?

The distinction is totally arbitrary. "Has its own blockchain" is clearly not the distinguishing factor if you are putting both nubits and nushares, meanwhile bitUSD doesn't get to be on the front page even though it's completely analagous to nubits.

Stuff like MaidSafeCoin is important - just because it's on MSC doesn't mean it shouldn't be first-class.

All the shitty user-issued assets won't show up near the top anyway. If something is worth $XXm, it should be visible.

Agreed.  The only reason I separated them out in the first place is because I considered the assets section experimental and didn't want to risk destroying the main page.  But the assets page has been pretty stable so I will make the switch soon.

I have a proposal for a new feature.

show market cap as market cap calculated by total final supply

so for instance BTC market cap would be caluclated using 21000000 times the current BTC price

This could be a third option on top of "Total supply" and "Available supply"

Although some coins might not have been minted yet, the price ought to reflect the value of the known upcoming inflation in the money supply.

For coins where the end supply is unlimited this value could just be zero.

The "total final supply" value could be interesting for people looking at coins as store of value rather than an item used for exchanging value.

If you need the PoC coins to show up too, you might add a fourth value "total final supply in year 2200" or some such, to try to add in all the extra coins coming in as interest

Coin owners would of course have to supply the final supply and built in inflation on top of that, if any. With some coins, it is probably not possible to put a specific value, but so be it.

Interesting idea.

Hi Gliss,

I'm wondering what the policy is for money supply versus money in circulation. I noticed that Ripple doesn't show the money supply but another figure, which I assume is money in circulation.
The money supply is normally provided by the blockchain. For the money in circulation one has to come up with some self declaring numbers. Would providing a feed for money in circulation on the blockchain site work for you? Could you please clarify how the policy, if any, works for money in circulation vs money supply?

My question is instigated from the recent increase in money supply at NuBits. However this supply is for an emergency fund and it won't be added to supply in circulation except for extraordinairy circumstances.
We are looking for a fair representation of the market cap in line with the others.

Thanks,
Cybnate

Yes, a separate feed for circulation supply would be great.  Thanks.

Askerisks on the non-mineable coins are currently not showing, only the note on the bottom of the page that says what they represent.

Why have they been removed?

Back in the olden days, we could choose to only view anyone-mineable coins, and ignore those incestuous coins that don't have open-source code, and are prone to being dumped at any moment at the whims of the centralized corporocratic owners of the 'non-mineable' coins, that only pay the centralized authority on all new issues from inception.  Now, i can't make informed decisions about my investments, and your data has lost meaning.  I mean, as I only consider real, mineable coins that carry the spirit of freedom and free-market mechanisms, I can't tell the incestuous coins from the real ones.  I have to go back to one of those other coin-comparison websites.  That's a shame, because your's was the best.

Just as Coinmarketcap helps to inform people of cryptocurrency information, it is a grave error of omission to keep people uninformed about these closed-door coins.  What happened?  Surely you really don't want to omit this important information?  Did they pay you off like the mainstream media gets paid off to look the other way on anything that promotes freedom and decency?  Did they threaten you?  Let the cryptoworld know what they are doing to force you to present data in this way.  Psychopaths bet that you are too chicken s to share their strong-arm tactics with the greater community; they keep you isolated and thereby corner you into submission.  Wake up.  Give the community a chance to support you.  You may be surprised to see what real crytocurrency support can do in a rally for justice.

Please put the asterisks back up, and leave them there.  (...Or better yet, always keep the non-mineable coins separate from the real independent-free-market coins.)

Thanks.

 Angry Angry Angry

If they're not showing up it's a bug.  Do you have a link/screenshot?  It's showing up for me.

Hi Gliss,

You might have seen the launch of NuBits (www.nubits.com) in the last few hours. I have been tasked to get it properly listed. I noticed that you are already taking the feeds for the trading pairs (NBT/PPC, NBT/BTC) from the exchanges which is great. Missing is the total NBT supply at the moment. Our block explorer provides that information here: http://blockexplorer.nu/

It would be great to have that updated. Is the blockexplorer an adequate source or would you prefer to have something more specified to feed your bot? If so, where can I find a specification for that? Or would you rather run a wallet yourself?

Please note that NBT supply is dynamic and increased once in a while based on demand.
We also have a park function in the blockchain which technically decreases the NBT supply while providing interest, however we don't have an API for that yet, so maybe best to leave that out for now.

Looking forward to your response.

Regards,
Cybnate

Thanks for the explorer link.  What's the difference between the bits and and the shares supply?

It looks like the coinmarketcap markets page for XMR is getting XMR/BC data from Bittrex right now, instead of XMR/BTC, which is messing up the average price, putting XMR at #2 on the main page ranking: http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/monero/#markets

The XMR/BC data on Bittrex isn't even right (has a massive spike): https://bittrex.com/Market/Index?MarketName=BC-XMR

Edit: Looks to be fixed already. Smiley

Edit 2: The 7 day chart will need to be fixed (http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/monero/). The one hour percent change is also wrong but will correct itself.

The graphs are fixed now, thanks.

Please move APICoin (XAP) to asset section. It is issued on Mastercoin and it has the functionality as for example MaidSafeCoin. Thanks

Hi Gliss.

Would you consider adding BitShares X BitAssets to coinmarketcap?

Currently, BitUSD exists, and apparently has a market cap of about half a million. BitBTC also exists but I'm uncertain of it's market cap.

Hello Gliss,

I was thinking this would be a neat addition within the BitSharesX view (http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitshares-x/) but rather than put the assets on the main page, include them as a separate tab (similar to charts, market, social), called "Market Assets" so to reflect the total value of each BitAsset "under BTSX". If you would be willing to consider doing this work sometime in the coming months, I am sure we could start a fund to pay for your time out of the bitsharestalk.org community.

Great idea, will try to incorporate.

Well, then several Ripple assets could also be added... As far as I get it, BitShares assets are just reflecting things outsides of BitShares in price, so while they might be capped, they in the end only depend on BitSharesX market caps and are nothing that exists on its own.

This was my understanding as well, at least for BitUSD.  I'll add it so we can track the trade volume, but I'm not sure how useful a market cap calculation would be for it.

I also noticed there's no block explorer linked in the supply column for BTSX, can you add www.bitsharesblocks.com please?

Btw I'm the developer of the site, if you need a json feed for current supply of BTSX and its assets I'd be happy to provide you with one.

A json feed would be great.

Please, A one thing more,
with the Symbol of FAC to FAIR change the coin explorer

from http://faircoin.coinexplorers.com/chain/FairCoin (closed)
to https://forum.fair-coin.org/chain/FairCoin  (managed by our dev team)

The supply is changing and coinmarketcap is not reflecting it:
appears 50,018,932 *  but is    50267888.952432

thanks

edit: changed FAIR on mintpal https://www.mintpal.com/market/FAIR/BTC

Should be updated now.

This already is the default behaviour.

Which of both? I proposed two ideas.

I do not see anything of both "in use".

For instance, see QORA. 10,000,000,000 total supply - 100% premine.

Number #31 on the http://coinmarketcap.com/

No filtered out, no "fair market cap", which is zero.

A market cap of 0?  Doesn't seem like useful information.  QORA is 100% POS, so you can filter those with "Filter Non-Mineable"

Hi.
Could you help me to add Reserve Share to CoinMarketCap.com? I've submitted a request but I'm not sure if the block explorer I specified is suitable for coinmarketcap.
Thanks.

It's sufficient, will add soon.

Hi Gliss,

Is the JSON api ok for all to use? If so is there any documentation? I am specifically looking for this page:

http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/views/all/

I can get the JSON from other sources but I would prefer to get it directly from your site.

Uhm, it IS available in raw form?! Just read the source code to the site... e.g. http://coinmarketcap.com/static/generated_pages/currencies/datapoints/mazacoin-7d.json

There are some good 3rd party APIs, but no official API endpoint yet, sorry.

dgb is not up to date.

hey Gliss,

there's a block explorer for Cagecoin CAGE

http://cagechain.info

total coins here http://cagechain.info/chain/Cagecoin/q/totalbc

will hopefully be on an exchange again soon.

Hi Gliss- Can you please add WeAreSatoshi (WSX)? I've created a ticket but haven't heard back.

Hey Gliss Smiley

Crypto-Trade has just added:

Thanks in advance for updating your awesome page with these details Smiley

Best,
Crypto-Trade

Burstcoin is on Poloniex now: https://poloniex.com/exchange/btc_burst

All updated, thanks!

Strange but I see some wrong data when checking an exchange page: at coincap - 24h volume is ~1300$ when at the same time at exchange itself price is 10 times bigger Huh

Which exchange?

hey Gliss,

there's a block explorer for Cagecoin CAGE

http://cagechain.info

total coins here http://cagechain.info/chain/Cagecoin/q/totalbc

will hopefully be on an exchange again soon.

Thanks, let me know when it hits an exchange.

Hi Gliss,

I love the 'filter Shitcoins' feature, but for some reason the 0% premined and 100% minable coin Cryptonite is excluded from

http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/views/filter-non-mineable-and-premined/

 Huh  Where is XCN?

Thanks!

On page 2 http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/views/filter-non-mineable-and-premined/2

listing nxt-assets as coins is BS.
Needs option to filter or the list will be useless soon.

Agreed, separate pages coming soon.

Hi Gliss, was just looking at the Nxt market volume and noticed that you don't list the mgwBTC trading volume, which is rapidly growing and currently has a trade volume of 3M Nxt / Week.

https://nxtblocks.info/#section/assets_exchange/market/4551058913252105307

Is it possible for you to add that to the trading volume?

Thanks!

Since it's an asset, this requires some changes to how volume is calculated,  will fix soon.

Hey Gliss,

I did a little digging on coinport.com and while it doesn't look like they have they have an API doc yet they do have some resources:

Data feeds for their coins: https://coinport.com/open#/opendata

Their MatchEngine is open sourced as well: https://github.com/coinport/MatchEngine

I like this exchange a lot because of their transparent reserves (https://coinport.com/open#/reserve) and I also like to follow your site, so I am hoping you guys can integrate them!

Also, you can generate an API token under the User Profile page.

Thanks for your hard work,

robrigo

Thanks! Will look at it.

I've been checking IncognitoCoin and the market cap and price are off, it's been like that for about two days already.

Can you elaborate?  Looks ok to me.
