41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ANN [MCO] MONACO #1 Cryptocurrency Payments Card on: January 23, 2018, 11:34:22 PM
Something that makes me curious;

Quote
0%
Up to 2% Cryptocurrency Cashback

Earn MCO with Monaco card
Earn cashback in MCO on every transaction with Monaco Platinum card
Convert to BTC/ETH or fiat currencies
Spend the cashback you earn with your card

Can I go and start my own coffee shop and accept payments with Monaco? And then the customer would get a 2% cashback payout (discount) in MCO tokens?

So if my neighbor starts a coffee shop as well, and we both get the card and the payment service, then we will become infinitely rich by becoming each other's customer and recurrently buying 50 cups of coffee from each other (getting 1 for free) and bouncing the money, buying 50 cups again (getting 1 for free) and bouncing the money...

Never, ever go into accounting. In fact, you should sign away your power of attorney
42  Economy / Speculation / Re: 1 Bitcoin = $100. Best buy on: January 23, 2018, 06:47:05 PM
In 2009, 1 bitcoin was $1  Grin

Buy Bitcoin only when it comes down to $100 and wait and see if it survives the law.  Huh

When Silver is $18/ounce, Bitcoin is killing itself with a price of more than $100

Dammi we are getting some serious financial acumen joining the forum these days. Did you invest your IQ at peak?
43  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why the bitcoin price goes down on: January 23, 2018, 10:00:20 AM
advanced Mathematical analysis suggests it's because it's not going up.
and probably because fewer people are willing to buy at this price than there are who are willing to sell at even lower prices.

Well, if you agree with their analysis. Being Nobel laureates doesn't t make them infallible. Even just the fact they claim it serves no socially useful purpose or that they do not offer anything of value can be seen as an example of the superficiality of their opinions on the matter.

Visa did not introduce any "new restrictions" afaik.

Having read through this thread and having been one of the earlyest adopters of this coin, I feel it's a real shame that a project which could have been interesting was so poorly and unfairly managed.
I am fully aware that any money I spent trying to revive the dying coin was my choice, and I am entitled to nothing, but I feel it's important to point out that this project is being run by a person with no regatfd for those that trust him.

It may not be a scam, but it's definitely not Worth risking on.

very disappointed.

No point. study hard, read a lot, there are still money to be made. Looking too far back is useless

50  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: VISA rages WAR against Bitcoin! BANNED on: January 18, 2018, 01:09:19 PM
And in what way does this contradict what I stated, exactly?

You do realize that when VISA states they are not going to process cryptocurrency transactions, they are not talking about the pre-paid cards issued by third parties like Monaco? Those cards transact in fiat exclusively.
51  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Visa CEO: We won't process transactions in bitcoin, as it's not a payment system on: January 18, 2018, 10:15:25 AM
Yes of course they will follow it.

But this means nothing, nobody expected it to be different. There isn't much reason for VISA to modify their technology to accomodate for crpyto.

What this DOES NOT mean (and apparently most people don't realize it, coming from other threads) is that this spells the end of VISA crypto payment cards. Au contraire! It basically gives companies like Monaco the guarantee that they are and will stay very relevant.
52  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Visa CEO: We won't process transactions in bitcoin, it's not a payment system on: January 18, 2018, 10:12:20 AM
Basically, VISA stated that they do not intend to process any crypto transaction on their network. This means VISA has no intention to let you use your bitcoin to pay a merchant who is accepting bitcoin. it also means they won't let you pay your bills to them in Bitcoin.

This is where companies like Monaco, Amon, etc. come in. They provide the customer with a VISA or MasterCard prepaid card, which is just a normal prepaid card where you "load" a certain ammount of Fiat money (say, US Dollars), and spend them at any vendor accepting the circuit.

The key difference from a Monaco card and, say, a standard pre-paid is that the provider (Monaco in this case) has a whole backend system which allows you to pay them in bitcoin or other supported cryptocurrencies, then THEY handle the conversion to "regular money", which is all that VISA ever gets to see on their system.
53  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin mining - early days on: January 18, 2018, 09:43:22 AM
depends how early you go. early enough, you could solo mine, even. That would yield you 50 BTC/block at the time.

consider one thing, the number of blocks mined in one day in 2009/10 is the same as today (and reward was 4 times higher per block). consider, too, that there were a handful of miners, before it became hundreds, before it became thousands, etc. AND this is a time before large groups had managed to corner the market cutting out the Young adventurer.

All in all, there was a time you could make thousands in a day, though that was a flash. tens was easily done for a while, even after pools became a must. A bitcoin a day was very realistic for a long time.

Western civilization existed before banks were about
55  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Visa CEO: We won't process transactions in bitcoin, it's not a payment system on: January 17, 2018, 10:52:44 PM
I see nothing odd or wrong with this. Visa is the last company you'd want to be "processing" crypto transactions.
First of all, crypto transactions process themselves, they do not need processing by a third party. Secondly, VISA's usefulness comes from being established and accepted Worldwide by a huge ammount of locations.

Leave the conversion in the hands of intermediaries like Monaco, etc. The card istelf is best left as perfectly standard fiat payer.
56  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Are market makers true? on: January 17, 2018, 01:43:40 PM
"market maker" is perhaps a misnomer, but there definitely are market manipulators. Some may explicitly collaborate with each other, others may simply read the signs and follow.
Regardless, markets are Always a mix of manipulation and fear-induced mass-hysteria (wether it's panic or FOMO). The smaller the market of a given asset (cryptocurrency in this case), the more suceptible to direct manioulation it is.

People who can control the market are people that have very large percentages of the traded capital. though they can also be media influencers, hackers, etc.

In terms of "other crypto", there still really isn't any crypto that is fully detached from BTC, therefore when the panic seems to be about the "future of crpto", everything collapses and the ones with less maturity and trust (and money) tend to drop more. butcoin drops a little less because liquidating alts often requires purchasing BTC before liquidating.
57  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if I receive a bitcoin when my computer is powered off? on: January 17, 2018, 09:20:39 AM
You never receive bitcoin, bitcoin are simply "assigned" to a specific public key which someone owns. The data is stored in the blockchain, which is public and distributed. When you turn your PC on a minute or a century later, once you are up to date with the block chain, and providing you still have control of the private key that generated your public address, you'll be the sole controller of the values associated to it.
58  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I'm gonna sell my house on: January 17, 2018, 09:17:31 AM
I am sure we touched the bottom today. so i am going to real Estate Dealer for selling my house and buy bitcoin. I suggest you all do that

Now this, this is what I call a strategy.

A terrible one, not just because it could live you wiping your arse with banana peels for the rest of your life, but because in general it shows an attitude and a greed that only damages yourself, your family, and the community as a whole.
59  Economy / Speculation / Re: what happens with bitcoin? on: January 17, 2018, 04:32:15 AM
We are over 1000% increase year-on-year with bitcoin, and you worry a 30% drop is crazy?

welcome to the world you chose to be in

Lo schema Ponzi ha capitali infiniti, č cosė che funziona. Fintanto che riesce a mantenere la crescita degli aderenti e dei loro investimenti, si autofinanzia.
