41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Grin, Ravencoin, or Beam? on: April 13, 2019, 10:03:05 AM
I would disagree about investors not being silly.  I'd guess 98% of ETH investors have never even tried to download the blockchain.  It's a good proof of concept, but I don't see how it can retain value long term.  Grin/Beam tech is simply better, and Ravencoin tech is even better suited for what ETH is mainly used for.

People like you that come and hype your coin being better than the top 1 and 2 are a shame to the crypto community. Nobody invests in something to lose money. If bitcoin and ethereum are top 1 and 2 means people are not stupid to believe in craps like you trolls throw at. I feel sorry for the really stupid people that might believe you. Bitcoin and ethereum are proven coins, the others coins you spoke of, as far as i can tell are not hence why is not close to in market cap of bitcoin, ethereum and so on. Go troll somewhere else.

I never mentioned Bitcoin, and Ethereum is a joke, the market just doesn’t recognize it as such yet. I’d bet dollars to donuts that you don’t run an Ethereum full node and likely never have.

I love Bitcoin and I’ve been mining for 8 years so I think my opinion should be taken more seriously than a troll.
Yeah I'm also certain that many of these Ethereum "Investor" never run a full node and just make MEW wallet. I also heard that ETH has this scalability issues where they hard to scale in TPS point of view.

Just because ETH is on number 2 marketcap wise, it doesn't prove anything. Stop using marketcap as your point.
Of course, being number 1 or 2 on the CoinMarketCap does not mean that are the best projects out there. In fact,  we all know there are many good, even better projects than bitcoin and ethereum - the people only just trust the top two because they are the two major coins that came out early.
42  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Grin, Ravencoin, or Beam? on: April 13, 2019, 09:39:49 AM
Mine Grin because it will pump and it seems different than other coins. Forget about Raven because it is selling time now for rvn.
My favorite coin was RavenCoin but I'm currently planning to move into Grin and Veil they both have no premines and I think they are worth mining too. No premines means the coins are trustworthy. For Beam, I think it's similar to Grin but the Grin more advanced in terms of technology.
43  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: the Veil Project Mining- Privacy without Compromise on: April 13, 2019, 09:31:28 AM
Im up, veil will dominate the market trends. No ico projects is damm good, i read their whitepaper before wearing the signature code. I participated because i want to promote the project to ny fellow user here in the forum. Setup to mind this coin and stake is staed on their website. And i prefer to do this with high speed gpu so everything will be easy, not laptops sir. It should be waste of electricity
No ICO established a lot of trust to the Veil. It reminds people the early days of bitcoin and how bitcoin was started. No premines means the developers are not greedy, they are not willing to control the coin circulation and they're trustworthy.
44  Economy / Economics / Bitcoin Whales Move 42,616 BTC As Leading Crypto Tests $5,000 on: April 12, 2019, 01:29:18 AM

Crypto whale watchers are tracking a pair of huge Bitcoin transactions that moved a total of 20,378 BTC worth about $102.5 million.

Both transactions happened between unknown wallets and do not appear to be traders gearing up to sell.

9,939 BTC worth $50.0 million transferred from unknown wallet to unknown wallet
10,439 BTC worth $52.5 million transferred from unknown wallet to unknown wallet

The movements are part of a larger Bitcoin whale migration happening as the markets move into the red.

In the last 24 hours, whales moved a total of 42,616 BTC worth about $215 million, at the time of writing. The vast majority of the BTC was moved off of crypto exchanges to unknown wallets, or from one crypto exchange to another.

Right now, the crypto market is a sea of red. Bitcoin is down 4.86% at $5,036. Ethereum is down 8.61% at $164.77, and XRP is down 8.13% at $0.3285.

Technical analysts say the market downturn is putting projections of a near-term BTC price rise to $5,800 on ice. According to CoinDesk analyst Daniel Paomer, the drop may have “thrown a spanner into a bullish market setup that had looked likely to propel prices to highs not seen since late last year.”

45  Bitcoin / Press / [2019-04-12] Bitcoin (BTC) Will Hit $20,000 Again “Without Question”: CNBC’s on: April 12, 2019, 01:10:43 AM
Bitcoin (BTC) Will Hit $20,000 Again “Without Question”: CNBC’s Brian Kelly

Bitcoin To See New Highs Over Next Two Year Cycle

For over eight days now, Bitcoin (BTC) has held a steady uptrend. While last Tuesday’s move accounted for most of the past week’s gains, the crypto market has managed to continue up-and-up day-over-day, as buyers have continued to flood the market. And this, along with an array of other factors, has investors bullish across the board.

CNBC “Fast Money” recently hosted Brian Kelly, the chief executive of BKCM, in a bid to glean insight about what’s next for cryptocurrencies, specifically price-wise. Kelly, a somewhat notorious CNBC contributor (he has been slammed for shilling XRP at a few points), explained that Bitcoin’s recent move above and beyond $5,000 is actually a resurgence, adding that there’s a rapidly growing chance that December’s $3,150 low was likely it for this bear cycle.

Bitcoin is up more than 30% this month and @BKBrianKelly says it could hit new highs by this date… pic.twitter.com/afC58AqIGW
    — CNBC's Fast Money (@CNBCFastMoney) April 10, 2019

Backing this call, the cryptocurrency investor looks to the number of active addresses, a number which he sees as a clear fundamental signal of Bitcoin’s strength. This figure, per Kelly, is up 26% since January, all while transaction numbers and hash rate have exploded.

This isn’t the only thing going for BTC and other cryptocurrencies at the moment though, as the BKCM head goes on to mention the fact that institutions are still loading their bags, so to speak. He specifically looks to the recent launch of Fidelity Investments’ institutional-centric platform, coupled with the recent record highs seen on the CME Bitcoin futures contract to further bring credence to his point.

This led him to the conclusion that in the coming two years, Bitcoin will, “without question,” see new highs over the next cycle. The block reward halving, in Kelly’s eyes, will be a big marker for this move.

BTC Moving To $6,000 Likely In Short-Term

This comes after he called for BTC to push to $6,000 in the short-term. Kelly opined that “sentiment has shifted here (with the recent move),” touching on the euphoria that this industry has begun to witness. He adds that per his company’s analysis, which weighs fundamentals, technicals, and ‘quantamentals’, it is clear that the bottoming process in the crypto market is likely well in the works. In fact, he explains that “high net-worth individuals, family offices, are starting to take a serious interest” in Bitcoin, all as custody solutions have propped up, volumes have spiked, and short sellers looking to cover their rear ends — presenting a strong case for a further rally. And with that, he concluded that a “reasonable target” for the ongoing rally, which has strecthed out for six weeks now, would be “$6,000.”

And Kelly’s fellow CNBC contributors are similarly as bullish. Tom Lee, for instance, claimed that with “old whale wallets buying Bitcoin” and a “lot of positive things taking place” in the industry, $14,000 might just be a fair valuation for Bitcoin.

This, of course, is mildly irrational, especially considering market cycles and what have you, but by and large, analysts seem crazy bullish.

46  Bitcoin / Press / [2019-04-12] Reddit Users Claim That QuadrigaCX Bitcoin Withdrawals Came From on: April 12, 2019, 12:55:08 AM
Reddit Users Claim That QuadrigaCX Bitcoin Withdrawals Came From Other Exchanges

Reddit users analyzed past Bitcoin (BTC) withdrawals from the now-defunct QuadrigaCX cryptocurrency exchange in a post published on April 10, finding that some came from other exchanges.

The Reddit users claim that of the withdrawal transactions that they analyzed, one came from a HitBTC hot wallet and the other one from a Bittrex hot wallet.

The users write that before they realized that the addresses are owned by exchanges, they found that some of the addresses appear on multiple High Yield Investment Programs (HYIP), amatorial ransomware research and a post concerning lost funds by another Reddit user.

Further examination suggests that this means that people sent funds from exchanges to HYIP Ponzi schemes, and that hackers attempted to cash in money earned with ransomware through those exchanges.

Quadriga has previously filed for creditor protection following the death of its founder in December 2018, resulting in a loss of access to its cold wallets.

However, a report by the Wall Street Journal in February claimed that the funds could actually be missing, rather than inaccessible.

The Reddit users’ recent findings are seemingly in line with another report, released in March, that QuadrigaCX probably stored a significant quantity of Ethereum (ETH) in other crypto exchanges rather than cold wallets. In this analysis, the author mentioned that nearly 650,000 ETH belonging to QuadrigaCX were most likely stored on the Kraken, Bitfinex and Poloniex crypto exchanges, but did not mention Bittrex or HitBTC.

As Cointelegraph reported earlier this week, the exchange has also now been officially declared bankrupt.

47  Economy / Goods / Re: Luxury Home for sale. Serious buyers only. on: April 12, 2019, 12:44:26 AM
What a house?
It looks very beautiful but it's quite an expensive one.
Though, it costs approximately ~ $10 million! Imagine investing $10 million in crypto for 10 years, lol Grin
The ROI should be not less than a billion dollars. So, why buy a house for $10 million if I can invest it now and get a billion after 10 years, huh?
With half a billion dollars after 10 years, I can buy any house I want on this planet and invest the other half on anything I want. That's is called LOGIC, though!

The result of this home is up to the buyer. They can choose to live in their own custom built castle, or they can choose to just invest in it as well, I suppose!

Personally, I would love living in it. I'm sure whoever buys this home will enjoy doing such, and making it their own household.
OP, sorry this is me trolling here.
Good luck with your luxury home sale, I wish you all the best in the world.
Hope you guys get the right buyer in no time. There's no doubt your house is worth every penny of the price. it is such a beautiful mansion!

I finally get to see this guy here also. I first saw him on BBHF 2013, then BHW, Udemy, Skillshare, Twitter, YouTube, and now BitcoinTalk!
scrembo you are everywhere aren't you? You're everywhere I guess! Well, it's good to see you here, though! Welcome to the reality Cheesy

50  Economy / Economics / There's nothing more happier than seeing your bitcoin price going up! on: April 10, 2019, 03:25:27 PM
I still remember seeing my bitcoin price going up in the late January, 2017 - that's was my first bitcoin investment. During the mid January 2017, the bitcoin price take a dive from $1,200 to $965 and that was my entry point and I sold them later when the bitcoin price reached $2,700 around June /July that same year. It was my first Bitcoin investment though, but I still remember the joy and happiness of that time - it's an unforgettable moment of my life.

Did your Bitcoin investment ever makes you happy?
Tell me about your first Bitcoin investment, a good or bad experience? thanks Smiley

51  Economy / Economics / The market starts looking real nice in Q2, 2019 on: April 09, 2019, 10:26:42 PM
Hi guys,
The cryptocurrency market has added over $80 billion within the last 100 days, which is probably from January to date. The cryptocurrency market capitalization hits the bottom at $100 billion during the recent massive market crash. Do you guys think we are going to the moon this year also or we have a long way to go before reaching the moon once more - that is it'll probably happen in the next 4-5 years?

52  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin is following the same path of 2017 on: April 07, 2019, 12:48:52 PM
I don't know--based on that graph, I don't see what OP is seeing.  Nor am I (yet) feeling the insane vibe on the forum that I did back in 2017.  People were absolutely euphoric about bitcoin, and there were people selling houses and maxing out their credit cards to buy bitcoin.  That was truly a crazy time.

We certainly could get another raging bitcoin bull market, and I think we will, but there's nothing to suggest that it's going to happen this year.  Yes, we've seen a very nice rise in price in the past week or so, but that's just short-term market movement.  Give it a few months and we'll have a better view of whether we're in a new bull market or not.  It's just way too soon to tell.

I was talking of the April-May 2017, not the October-November 2017.
I mean the current season of 2017 - don't you sense the momentum started building up for the media once again?
It's 2019 now, and I see nothing but another 2017 coming over us. Started thinking maybe we would see another bitcoin ATH in this year Kiss

Hi guys,
I just want to ask which one among these altcoins: Grin, Ravencoin, and Beam is the most profitable coin to mine using GPU?
They all seem new to me, that is why I decided to get a little help before I go ahead to start mining one. thanks Smiley

There is no straight answer to your question, what is profitable today, might going to worth nothing tomorrow .

Think about the future and true potential of a coin? I'm not actually talking about the daily profits, I know it varies from a day to another.

I am looking to get into mining but not in a big way. I just want to buy one or two GPUs and put into my existing computer. I figure if nothing else I can SLI them together for gaming...

The perfect reason to mine with a gpu or two.

And why it is never too late to start mining for a gamer.

Thanks for the encouragement! From the looks of things around here most people are hostile to new miners. While I know I missed the boat so to speak, I am only doing it as a hobby, and as you said I can game with the cards as well.

Remember, the essence of this community is to help each other more especially the beginners...

Go with Bitcoin you will not need to worry about anything else 🙂
These altcoins has punp and dump. Even the value goes to zero. So why take too much risk?
Doing bitcoin mining already but now I decide it's time to venture into GPU/altcoin mining. I'm getting too tired of the ASICs they are too noisy.
GPU mining is not bad, it's even more profitable sometimes. the only problem with the GPU mining I think is you can only get $3-$5 a day.

I think you should check out the ravencoin mining calculator: http://ravencalc.xyz/
I used this calculator for a while and I think it is very useful for the beginners.

58  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / XRP Swells 13.06% in a Sharp Recovery as Ripple ETPs Take Off on: April 06, 2019, 12:06:15 AM
Ripple was a big mover this Friday as the company saw its XRP price rise nearly 13-percent ahead of the European market open.

The XRP-to-dollar rate today established an intraday high towards $0.372 at about 0515 UTC. Earlier the same day, the pair was moving downwards in a massive bearish correction wave that confirmed a reversal upon testing 0.329. The bounce back move came on a substantial volume with far more XRP changing hands against Tether’s stablecoin USDT, South Korean Won, and Bitcoin’s BTC.

59  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Ethereum Creator Rips Crypto Conference for Hosting Bitcoin SV ‘Shills’ on: April 06, 2019, 12:04:28 AM
Readers may remember the legendary moment last year when Ethereum co-creator Vitalik Buterin responded to a talk by Craig Wright to call him a “fraud.” Buterin had endured enough of what he viewed to be baseless claims on the part of Wright, who at the time was talking about “dishonest miners” in the crypto economy.

Bitcoin SV Proponents Rant about “Legal Ramifications” of SegWit

As the year wore on, Craig Wright and Calvin Ayre increasingly engaged in in-fighting with Bitcoin Cash developers and community members. It became clear that another fork was going to divide the community further, and in November that happened.

Now about six months later, the Deconomy forum has allowed a panel of Bitcoin SV proponents to speak on the subject of Bitcoin scaling. In response, Buterin, who has over 800,000 followers, tweeted:

60  Economy / Speculation / Bitcoin Whales Have Started Splashing – This Rally’s Just Getting Started on: April 06, 2019, 12:00:06 AM

The fact that so-called bitcoin "whales" are accumulating funds is an extremely positive sign for the crypto market.

On Squawk Box, Fundstrat Global Advisors head of research Thomas Lee said that despite the 16-month correction, bitcoin is en route to a steady accumulation phase throughout 2019.

In the past 24 hours, the bitcoin price experienced a roughly 2.7 percent recovery following a slight pullback, climbing to $5,055 and leading a nearly $8 billion crypto market recovery.

Following a slight correction, the bitcoin price has recovered (source: coinmarketcap.com)

The slight retrace came after an impressive 19 percent rally of bitcoin from $4,200 to $5,000, a price movement analysts like Lee believe was crucial in rekindling the momentum of the market.

Whales Accumulating Bitcoin is a Positive Sign

According to Lee, whales that bought bitcoin very early on who sold some of their holdings when the asset hit a price of $20,000 have started to accumulate the dominant cryptocurrency.

The researcher suggested that many investors in the cryptocurrency market likely kept cash on the sidelines waiting for a viable opportunity to invest in the asset class once again, demonstrating the confidence of investors in the long-term trend of the market.

Lee said:

“Bitcoin had a rough 2018 and for much of 2019, it’s been steadily climbing, and from what we can gather, it’s because there have been positive things taking place. You know a lot of the old whale wallets are buying bitcoin so it’s been slow accumulation.”

Throughout the past four months, bitcoin has arguably seen more progress in institutionalization than in the past 9 years from 2009 to 2018.
