I overlooked MintCoin in the first week of its release and started mining in the second week. If nothing else this coin will make for an excellent proof-of-work experiment, although I can see MintCoin being quite valuable in the future. A large ongoing proof-of-stake percentage of this coin should really be given away to as many people as possible via social media. If MintCoin is to act as a true currency then its distribution must be increased. Without increased distribution held coins will have a more limited value and its economy could stagnate not long after the proof-of-work phase is completed. Early adopters and miners of this coin need to recognize that in terms of total future money supply they are perhaps holding the equivalent of a central bank or small / medium nation state in the long-term. I ran a distribution model and the forecast for MintCoin is looking really rather good if many initial holders were to donate / giveaway around half of their staked coin profit to new potential users i.e. at least 50% of the 20% (in the 1st year) onwards ... So, 10% or less (or more!) or whatever you you can afford. The wider population both understands and likes to get interest on their 'money', especially 'high' fixed rates of interest that are guaranteed. Thus, putting a few MintCoins into the hands of as many people as possible is going to create good demand. People will be saying: "Yes. MintCoin works and 20% (even 5%) is a better rate of interest than my bank on my money. I think I'll buy myself some MintCoin!" , "Got to speculate to accumulate"... etc. The energy saving feature is also obviously a good selling point. A wide free distribution of around 20 to 200 coins per. person is probably about the right amount. This could decrease against the PoS reward over time i.e. 15 to 150 in the second year etc. This coin (and others like it) could bring a really bright future for crypto-currency in general. Alms to the crypto-poor - give and you shall receive ! This. Enough FUD, funny how in every alt-coin thread in existence there's always someone moaning about pre-mine, whether it exists or not. Concentrate your efforts on promoting the coin if you hold some, you'd be only doing yourselves a disservice if you help in corroding the same coin you're holding - don't be that stupid

It could be that the pre-mine is being saved for give-aways and to attract more professional staff when the coin enters the pure-POS stage... makes a lot of sense

Before getting listed on cryptsy, Dev needs to implement KGW or something similar at all costs, otherwise multipool.us will drag the price down even further with auto-sell on Cryptsy

I've been following this thread for a while, and I'd like to chip in with a problem of mine if you don't mind. I've got 3 VTX3D 280x cards, and I had them running at 700 KH/s each for a few days, on cgminer. I tried mining Darkcoin with sgminer but I switched back to cgminer on other coins after a few hours. Ever since that, I can't get my cards to go beyond 670 KH/s each; the worst thing however is that the WU dropped from 650 to ~500 on each card, and I can't increase it at all. Is it possible that sgminer somehow messed my cards up? Should I just switch back to sgminer? I'm on Windows 7 x64, and this was my config when everything was running perfectly:
-g 2 -w 256 -I 13 --lookup-gap 2 --thread-concurrency 8191 --gpu-engine 1028 --gpu-memclock 1500 --gpu-fan 85
Higher clocks than 1030 result in highly decreased hashrates btw. They're undervolted @ 1.075mV which worked perfectly fine for me. Powered by a Corsair RM1000 PSU, it's an open rig

Sgminer isn't working properly. RPM/temps/hashrates are bouncing all over the place, WU is 0 and accepted 0 as well... 5 MH/s on the miner and on the pool as well. Any idea what might be causing this? Using the example-280x .bat as is, with worker/user/pass configured of course.
Update: I got 3 280x Powercolor cards, seeing 5.1 MH/s on the miner but the HR on the pool is fluctuating a lot.
It's a crude conversion of normal sgminer just so that it can play with the darkcoin hashing algorithms. The conversion apparently produced quite a few bugs especially in the reporting aspect of the program ("null", "0" difficulty, no A: diff etc). So you are not doing something wrong, it's just the way the program works. Thanks Alex! That's a relief. Just one other question - my DRKs have been unconfirmed on the main pool for about an hour. I know it needs 120 confirmations, but how long does that normally take?

I have the same behaviour on AWS g2.2xlarge instances. I have no idea why is that ... DRKs are still being credited on the pool though, waiting for them to be confirmed. If they're confirmed I'll let you know... as long as they're rolling in, and temps are at a freezing 50c on all 3 cards, I've got nothing to complain about lol

around 1 billion coins being sold from 5 to 8 satoshis on mintpal lol... good luck getting around that wall without the currency crashing out and dying. time to move on from mintcoin, shame as it had a promising concept which at least differentiated it a bit from the other coins.

Any update on the website? I really think we need a proper website before anything else... in the meantime, keep mining!

|

How's the coin-mixing process going? I think this is the most important feature that needs to be integrated quickly if we want a proper lift-off for this coin

Spoke too soon I think... blocks were found but the wallet is still not in sync :/ And I only have 1 active connection to the network

Net hashrate dropped to 1,5GH/s... Where are you miners ?! ;-)
There are still so many fresh mints coins to mine!
hashstrike down and they have a lot of mh/s My wallet isn't syncing, and I created the mintcoin.conf as per the OP... what else can I try? Thanks
Got 1 connection, then it dropped again Still hasn't begun syncing http://pastebin.com/RsSpxjJe - try this Thanks! It worked

Thanks for the help, I'll just wait for a pool to emerge and join it... the port is correct, but I'm not getting anywhere. Looking forward to mine this coin!
