401  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How high can the transaction fees become? on: November 17, 2023, 06:12:41 AM
Have there been made any calculations how high the transaction fees for bitcoin main network could get in the future?

I currently have my BTC stored on a MultiSig cold wallet, which can't be connected to a lightning node. Do you think it's a better idea to move them to a lightning wallet like on electrum for example before the transaction fees get too high? I want to avoid paying a big amount just for one transaction in the main network

As there's no limit on the bitcoin price, similarly there's no limit to the bitcoin fees as well. Also there's no way to predict. You can check the mempool to see the current bitcoin fees.

Lightening network is a solution to it for sure. But it's a sidechain. If the bitcoin fees becomes higher than ever, it will somewhat affect the LN as well. Because LN also broadcasts the transactions in bulk. The Ordinals need to stopped once and for all.
402  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Taproot Wizards raises $7.5M for their Ordinals Project on: November 17, 2023, 04:57:36 AM
Ah! Crap! Not anymore! I am sure majority of the bitcoin users do not want to see such craps coming into the Bitcoin network. You have matic network, ETH network to do all these nonsense activities. It will be great if Bitcoin network can be kept ordinal free.

Also, all the best to the investors of 7.5 Million USD who still believes in NFT. Lol!
Isn't that the whole point of crypto, that people have freedom to do stuff like this. The pointless crap is the living statement of it and natural causation of freedom.
Whole crypto field never goes as planned, as with total freedom comes unpredictability. Only thing you can predict is that people will use it in any way they please.
People who i don't like, are constantly using it to fund themselves for example. I can't change that and that's he thing that makes them different and valuable.
It's the whole essence and beauty of cryptocurrency platforms in the first place. Freedom to do crap as well as anything else.

Yes! You have a point! It's all about freedom without any Central authority. People get to do whatever crap they want but in a real world, it should not affect others.

With all these NFT thing, ETH users are still suffering with high fees and Bitcoin users have started suffering. If the freedom is affecting others, that's not a good freedom and needs to be stopped. But yes, you have a point!

404  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: 47 countries pledge to authorize Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework by 2027 on: November 16, 2023, 01:25:54 PM
The fact that countries collaborate to collect taxes seems legitimate to me, but what I see as bad about this is that it is one more step towards a total control of the population and a total absence of privacy. We keep seeing news in this section that are all aimed at the same thing, a mass surveillance. And I guess there will be no massive protests because this is being done little by little, like the frog that is slowly boiling.

actually last I counted there are over 186 countries.

and if 47 say yes

5 + 54(every African country) = 59 say no

there are more than 80 not accounted for.

47 yes
59 no
80 ?
186 I think there are 195 not 186. still 80 - 89 not accounted for means a lot.

Number of countries doesn't really make any difference to the approach. The target here is to have the biggest economist of the world into this information sharing agreement. If some small economics are not in this list, it doesn't impact anything.

China and Hong Kong are out of the list because of some of some obvious reasons. But as long as you have the big economics sharing information with each other, the goal is fulfilled.
405  Economy / Economics / Re: Cryptocurrency is the second most popular investment in "France" on: November 16, 2023, 12:50:47 PM
It's encouraging for sure! Especially in the world where multiple countries are still confused about cryptocurrency, France is showing the way. I wonder if the other countries will consider having a legal framework around Bitcoin. It will not only help the government to get more taxes but also open new ways for job creation. The benefits are multifold.

The issue with not having a legal framework is that the scammers become active in this space and misguide people in the name of cryptocurrency investment.
406  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: J.P. Morgan Thinks the Big Crypto Rally Is Overdone on: November 16, 2023, 05:51:33 AM

After a small correction which was seen by everyone who knows how Bitcoin works, the analyst at the top company like J.P. Morgan thinks the Crypto Rally, especially Bitcoin is done.
How can they be so bad at their profession? I don't have a finance degree and I was able to call the $26k to $40k to $30k like two months before it all happened.

What do you all think about this?

I do not think anything when something comes from the analysts of JPM. They are following the footsteps of Jamie Dimon who is a known hater of Bitcoin. Jamie has tried to spread negative sentiment about Bitcoin multiple times in the past. Now he is trying to do it through their analyst team. But the funny part is that, the crypto market has stopped responding to whatever they say.

So I will suggest to stop thinking about it. JMP is expected to deliver negative analysis and negative statement about Bitcoin as it is their agenda. But as a sensible person, we should stop talking about those negative things. Chill and invest!
407  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If Satoshi were here, what question would you ask about the future of Bitcoin on: November 15, 2023, 01:14:18 PM
I am sure that satoshi nakamoto did not expect mainstream adoption of bitcoin. Otherwise he would have kept an option to increase the block size.

Also if I can go back to Mr. Nakamoto, I would ask how can we stop this ordinals madness. These are really causing great pain to the regular Bitcoin users and it needs to stop asap.
408  Economy / Economics / Re: Boycotting iSrAEl's product? think again. on: November 14, 2023, 03:56:00 PM
Do not make Asia synonymous with Muslim countries. I know some Muslim countries are definitely trying to boycott Israel's products but the majority of Asia is different than them. So editing your thread will help to be on the point.

HAMAS has gone into a suicide mission and the price is being paid by those who has no relation with the war. This is very much unfortunate but looking at Israel's mood, it's not going to stop anytime soon. If Iran tries to become the big daddy of the Middle East, they will be screwed by US.

Such kind of product boycott will keep on happening. But the majority of the world stands with Israel. So I do not see a big impact here. Some countries will definitely try to curb their usage of Israel's products but they are only a minority.
409  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance Client Executives Kidnapped, Forced to Empty Crypto Wallets on: November 14, 2023, 03:49:20 PM
Good point by Franky1 and something to think about.
The thief/kidnapper obviously done research, found wealthy people, formed a relationship, invited them somewhere.. the victims know details of the perpetrator. im sure the thief is being chased if not already arrested

Regards BabyB. 👼

That's something can't be done without insider support. People can obviously found wallets holding millions of dollars, but they can't find the person associated with that wallet unless the owner is openly talking about it or someone internal helped the criminals to identify the person. This incident should prompt CZ to start with an internal inquiry and fix the loopholes in his own system. Not having a great feeling about this incident. It's great that majority of the stolen funds are frozen now.
410  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Not all educated are educated. on: November 14, 2023, 03:34:25 PM
I have a very simple explanation for OP. You go to your neighbors house and rob all money from him, it's a crime. Now IRS goes to your neighbor's house and took all money from him complaining that he is a tax defaulter. For your neighbor, he lost all his money. But the situation changes on who has robbed him! So if anything is done by the government, it's never illegal because they setup the law.

So you will always have such issues with the banking system. Banks will try to freeze your account for any reason. banks very well understand that cryptocurrency is a system that can put their existence at risk. So Banks will fight back, they will do things not favorable for crypto users. And it is not limited to any country, rather it's an international issue.
411  Economy / Economics / Re: The Thailand government will distribute money to its citizens. Economists critic on: November 13, 2023, 07:55:49 PM
If it's an one time cash transfer to revive the internal demand, then it should be fine! But it must not become recurring. Because of people start getting recurring payment from government without any effort, their economy will go into hyper inflation. This is what happened to Venezuela.

One time transfer is good because it will start circulating in the market. Might give a boost to the economy by increasing demand. But this money should not get deposited to the bank's. Thai government should be very careful about it.
412  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Every man you failed to lecture about Bitcoin can be a victim to scam on: November 13, 2023, 07:51:07 PM
People loose money out of greed. That's what has happened here! That fellow solely focused on getting profit instead of knowing about Bitcoin. Hackers and scammers always look for such people who has money and gets excited about profit. Probably you could have helped that person when he came around to ask for it.

I do not prefer providing unsolicited information to anyone. But if someone asks questions about things I know, I usually provide them with information. That's what we should be doing.
413  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcin does not support financial crimes and is not involve in political affairs on: November 12, 2023, 06:04:18 PM
Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies are just a method of payment. Terrorism used to exist even before Bitcoin came into existence. Money laundering used to happen even before cryptocurrencies came into existence. So if someone is saying that cryptocurrency is bad because it aids in crime we just need to ignore that person.

These are the tools which are used by both good and bad people. There is no way for the cryptocurrency itself to control its usage. It's the job of the regulatory and enforcement agencies to curb the illegal usage of any tool.
414  Local / India / Re: India trained 3,000 police officials on crypto investigations in 2022–2023 on: November 10, 2023, 05:29:03 PM
It's a really good thing for the crypto community of India. the reputation of cryptocurrency in India is really low due to all the negative publicities by the bank's. Also whatever global hacking incidence are happening, those are also getting publicised by the media keeping cryptocurrency in bad light.

So if the police force is able to track down the crypto criminals effectively. The usage of cryptocurrency for illegal means should get reduced. All we want is a good reputation of cryptocurrency in India.
415  Economy / Economics / Re: Swiss Franc become a new Cryptocurrency ;D on: November 10, 2023, 05:03:55 PM
The Swiss National Bank has launched a program to digitally transform the Swiss Franc into Cryptocurrency.
Five banks are participating in the experiment, including UBS (Credit Suisse went bankrupt, as we know).

https://goldblum.ch/news-and-media/swiss-franc-is-becoming-a-cryptocurrency

It is more of a CBDC they are creating. Just having a block chain doesn't make any currency a cryptocurrency. The main feature of a cryptocurrency is its anonymity and decentralization. The Swiss currency is definitely not going to be decentralized. So it's a government issued digital currency you can say.

Criptocurrency is something different so let's not confused between Fiat and cryptocurrency. No matter what Swiss government is doing, they won't be creating a cryptocurrency even if they like to call it a cryptocurrency.
416  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will Doge coin everly hit $1? on: November 10, 2023, 04:56:13 PM
Why do altcoin don't have the characteristics of bitcoin? After the creation of bitcoin thousands of coin surface the crypto market, some altcoin became a huge success but some still reamain dumant and has no hope of even attaining the high of $1

Dogecoin is one of a long time COIN that has been in existence for over 10years now. since December 2013 dogecoin hit 0.0000869 on may 6 2015 and today is $0.076 now am wondering if it could reach $1price after 10years compeard to Bitcoin.

No! I don't see Dogecoin reaching $1 ever in the future. It has a huge amount of supply which is not really suitable for that coin to reach this price point, especially when there is zero utility.

Elon Musk is a crypto gambler. He made millions by manipulating the crypto crowd and we are still speaking whether this coin will ever reach $1 or not. It is just not possible.
417  Economy / Economics / Re: Being rich = not looking at price tag on: November 10, 2023, 01:29:50 PM
I often read people saying they want to earn enough money so they don't have to look at price tag of product. Imo, even if you are rich you wouldn't want to spend money on things that are not worthy of price being paid.

You wanna look at product and then it's price, if it's worthy of price, you purchase the product.

Being rich is not only having money in your bank. It's a mind set. Have you ever seen MJ shopping in Las Vegas. Watch the video,

https://youtu.be/HRnCX-8hA4A?si=aP1cXRIuOU2DA7gb

This will tell you what the rich mindset is! It's not about only money!
418  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Angry at the high fees? That's what everyone predicted the future will be like! on: November 09, 2023, 07:56:22 PM
At this point it is becoming confusing. I read somewhere that the high fees is as a result of Ordinal or NFTs on the Bitcoin network. According to the said comment, the Ordinals is a new trend that is massively being traded, hence the congestion of the Bitcoin network.

That's exactly it is! Any form of NFT is disaster for any legit crypto network. We have seen the madness in ETH and now we are seeing it in Bitcoin. Is there a way to ban this nonsense entirely from Bitcoin network? Due to this high fees, Bitcoin is slowly becoming outdated compared to the innovation that are happening in mainstream financial world. Bitcoin transactions are becoming expensive to an extent where it is becoming irrelevant and if not solved immediately, might become irrelevant as a payment processor. It will then remain as an investment asset only!

419  Economy / Economics / Re: India is the new economic leader of global south. And replacement for China?... on: November 09, 2023, 06:37:44 PM
This is very much possible! Becoming a financial superpower is not a distant dream for India and it's very much on its way. The only challenge is beaurocray and red tape protocols that has become a mainstream system in India. If India is able to remove bureaucratic road blocks and the work culture of the government, it might as well become a military superpower along with financial prowess.

India has been a huge provider of quality human resources to the rest of the world for many years. If those quality human resources can be used for India's progress, that will become a blessing for the growth of India.

But this is just a possibility and we have many roadblocks to remove.

Yes, I agree that India has a lot of "peculiarities". please do not take offense, but there is corruption, there is clannishness, if there are a lot of poor people. But, uh. that's no reason to give up and not fight it. Remember China 30 years ago? Agrarian appendage of the world, with wild unemployment, very low standard of living, and no prospects were seen until investments went into China. And it turned out that from such a country, in 20 years you can build what China is now. India's situation today is MUCH BETTER than China's was back then. And the issue here is not just financial, but economic and political power. Money will most likely be a derivative of the political and economic weight achieved on a global scale

I do agree with you. India has the possibility to become a financial super power. But the political system and the bureaucracy is slowing us down. A lot of things need to be sorted but we are on the right track. Things are improving, slowly but surely.

If the current government stays in power for next couple of years, I personally won't be surprised if India becomes an economy of  5 trillion dollars. We are on the right track.
420  Economy / Economics / Re: India is the new economic leader of global south. And replacement for China?... on: November 08, 2023, 06:05:02 PM
So the question is - what do you think about India's potential, opportunities and prospects, in light of the idea of India becoming at least the economical "Head of the Global South", and possibly "one of the poles of the world system" ?

This is very much possible! Becoming a financial superpower is not a distant dream for India and it's very much on its way. The only challenge is beaurocray and red tape protocols that has become a mainstream system in India. If India is able to remove bureaucratic road blocks and the work culture of the government, it might as well become a military superpower along with financial prowess.
