401  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Make Blockchain Transfer Fee 0.00009 BTC And Save On Transfers on: January 10, 2017, 10:43:27 AM
This fee seems low.
I would post a transaction ID as proof, because this might not get confirmed.
Then again, I'm not great at setting fees and usually go towards a higher fee for faster confirmation.
402  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: January 10, 2017, 10:40:34 AM
RingCT active.
Chinese billionaires, Bitcoin hackers and darknet vendors: feel free to start buying massive amounts of Monero and jack up the price.
Thanks!  Wink
403  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: I'm new to Bitcoin and to the forum. Are there any faucets that work? on: January 09, 2017, 11:41:21 PM
I've gotten payments from freebitco.in but that was a long time ago.
I haven't touched a faucet in a while, only when I was first learning what Bitcoin was.
They are a huge site I would be very surprised that they didn't pay.
404  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New Way of Scamming the bitcoin user I received it ??? on: January 09, 2017, 10:53:53 PM
LOL. Nigerian Prince scam has made its way to Bitcoin. Do they also need your photo ID and bank account information?
I doubt anyone will fall for this if they know anything about the way Bitcoin works, but maybe if they send it to enough people, one will fall for their trick.
Making $800 for sending a few thousand emails isn't bad I guess.
405  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How many GPUs this motherboard support? on: January 09, 2017, 10:47:37 PM
Can you physically fit five cards though?
Depending on the width of the card I think you could definitely fit three, but I think the size of the GPU would be the main factor.
406  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FACTOM - Introducing Honesty to Record-Keeping on: January 08, 2017, 07:22:36 PM
Buy orders and price have been up the last day or two, traders probably accumulating in anticipation of the network coming back up.
Hopefully we have some info or come back online by the end of this week.
407  Economy / Speculation / Re: rpietila Wall Observer - the Quality TA Thread ;) on: January 08, 2017, 01:37:01 PM
My prognosis is: 2 weeks and we have a successful assault on the ATH. Then volatile upside, however ending with weekly greens, and a blowoff top around $3000-$4500 followed by crash to near current levels or $1500.

That would certainly be interesting and might generate some more mainstream attention for Bitcoin.
I heard a few news stories during the rise and drop last week. A triple in price followed by a huge crash would be exactly the type of story reporters are looking for.
I'm not sure what this would mean for the long term future of Bitcoin but it would be fun to watch at least.
408  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: DigiByte Price Speculation on: January 08, 2017, 01:08:13 PM
DIGIBYTE V 4.13.0
The latest version of the DigiByte core protocol is under development and we are planning a January 2017 release date for DigiByte's 3rd birthday.

36 satoshi seems like a good speculative investment for a project that is still undergoing active development.
I'm holding some and hoping the new release or one of the projects at
http://www.digibytegaminghub.com/
takes off and causes a price increase. Even a bump to 100 satoshi would be a 3x return at this point.
409  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People's Bank of China hammer the Bitcoin on: January 08, 2017, 12:16:05 PM
I thought the recent rise in the price of Bitcoin was due to Chinese capital restructuring for tax purposes as we enter a new year of world uncertainty. The recent drop is probably just a natural reversion to its economic value as the capital flight reduced.

I think this is the most correct analysis.
Government intervention into interest rates and rebuying of currency caused the Chinese RMB (Yuan) to increase in value and give investors reason to keep their money in fiat currency.
Bitcoin was overheated due to a sharp rise in price and many people saw a chance make a profit by dumping coins.

The next few months will be interesting as Donald Trump takes office.
Depending on trade policies and the price of US and Chinese currency, the price of Bitcoin could definitely be affected.
410  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Swiss account holders will need a new store of value... on: January 08, 2017, 11:55:04 AM
There are still plenty of tax havens like the Cayman Islands, for example.
Some tech-smart investors will move to new methods like Bitcoin, but most will follow the tried and true methods of hiding their money in offshore accounts.
It will take a while but eventually crypto may become a part of investment portfolios. No one would risk putting their entire wealth in something so unproven though.
411  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [FACTS] If I have to hear the word "ICO" one more time.. on: January 08, 2017, 11:13:47 AM
Making an altcoin and starting an ICO is the new version of the Nigerian prince bank scam.
We are going to see a lot of new projects in the next year or two, and many of them will disappear a month after the premine coins are dumped on the exchanges.

Every time someone asks what ICO to invest in, I tell them to just send their Bitcoin to my address.

412  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Decred: The Sleeping Giant. 2017's Best Investment. on: January 08, 2017, 12:02:49 AM
Wish I read this post a few hours earlier.
Good call on the pump. Price seems to be pulling back a bit.
Still a good investment at 0.00074?
413  Economy / Speculation / Re: This pump is not sustainable. on: January 07, 2017, 11:10:00 PM
we will see slow downtrend down to 750 or even 650 . We might see 500 USD again soon

500 seems a little low.
I wouldn't be surprised at a dip to the $750-800 range but losing 50% value seems a little drastic.
414  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China New Year on: January 07, 2017, 10:43:33 PM
Trading may slow a bit for a few days as people take time off or go out of town for vacation.
Of course the hardcore traders will still be active but the little fish will be less active.

Price will probably stay around $900 or just below for the near future anyways.
415  Other / Archival / Re: Do you agree with idea "Bitcoin bank" ? on: January 07, 2017, 10:33:39 PM
For it to truly be a "bank" you would need some form of insurance against loss.
In the United States we have the FDIC which insures up to $100,000 of loss on any account.

Until you have some form of insurance that your money can't just suddenly disappear, there really isn't any advantage over just keeping your Bitcoin in a secured wallet.
You may also need to provide some sort of percentage based interest earnings, which means the bank would also need to be giving loans to earn interest for other customers and the operators/ shareholders.
416  Economy / Speculation / Re: Manipulation finished. Bubble popping. on: January 07, 2017, 10:20:31 PM
There is definitely a bit of manipulation going on from some of the Chinese exchanges, but I think there is more manipulation of Chinese fiat currency.
Interestingly, the price of Chinese RMB (Yuan) has a HUGE effect on the price of Bitcoin since so many miners and large exchanges are located there.
We should be talking about the need for greater de-centralization, because until that happens, the price of Bitcoin will be mostly influenced by China.
417  Economy / Economics / Re: China dictating prices on: January 07, 2017, 01:28:05 PM
Chinese Yuan gained 1% yesterday and lots of Bitcoin holders cashed out between $1000 and $1100.
This caused the drop in price to the $800 range.

The government is working hard to keep the value of CNY/RMB high.
With president Trump promising to change trade deals the next few months could cause a lot of uncertainty for the price of Chinese currency,
and there is no telling what effect this could have on Bitcoin.
It will be interesting to say the least.
418  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Monero, Dash, or Zcash? Let's argue about it. on: January 07, 2017, 12:50:35 PM
https://np.reddit.com/r/privacytoolsIO/comments/5md4xi/why_having_shadowcash_dash_and_zcash_in_the/

Great post about some of the "anonymous" currencies out right now.

http://weuse.cash/2016/10/26/warning-dash-privacy-is-worse-than-bitcoin/
Points out some serious issues with Dash.
(Not to mention the devs and their shady instamine. That alone is a reason not to use Dash IMO.)
419  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: January 07, 2017, 12:45:17 PM
Is there any explanation why BTCs down movement triggered a down movement for XMR?

Yes it was interesting to see the price of Monero mirror the price of Bitcoin during the drop.
Anyone have an explanation why the price has been so closely tied to the value of Bitcoin?
420  Economy / Speculation / Re: WTF happening to the price on: January 07, 2017, 12:42:13 PM
Chinese Yuan was up 1% yesterday as the government raised interest rates and government banks bough huge amounts of CNY in an attempt to keep the price up.
Chinese Bitcoin holders probably cashed out a huge amount of coins in an attempt to get Chinese fiat that will increase in value.

Price is almost back to $900. Might be a good time to buy some Bitcoin since we could easily see a return to $1000, although that would be a few weeks/ months from now.
