Even though he doesn't defend himself, I don't feel like the situation is clear enough for a scammer tag. Mostly because this is an external site with unclear status and agreements. I can't find a provable instance of him actually breaking any agreements.

This isn't sufficient proof because screenshots can be easily faked. The terms of your work also seem a little unclear.

You can have bids at two different prices, but to avoid confusion they both need to be in the same post. New posts cancel the bids in all of your previous posts.

The original idea was pretty interesting, but the current implementation seems like just another scamcoin.

Selling your account is OK, but spamming isn't.

I disabled his account a while ago because it was clearly compromised. Recently cablepair contacted me and provided reasonable proof of his identity (signmessage using an address that he's used before), so I gave him back his account.

The difficulty with this case, IIRC, is that Andrew Bitcoiner's sites had terms which said that he could do whatever he wanted with deposited bitcoins. I might be willing to give him a scammer tag despite this, but this fact really strengthens his case, especially since not all users are affected.

When Satoshi introduced the backward-incompatible checksum change, he set it to activate after two years. That seems like a reasonable amount of time.

That might work, though I'm worried that with such rules blocks would become gradually larger and over time the number of full nodes would shrink dramatically as weaker computers get separated from the network. For example, dial-up nodes would get separated right away. No one would care that dial-up users can no longer run full nodes, and they would themselves mostly just say, "Oh well, I guess my setup is too slow to run a full node. Time to switch to a lightweight node." This is probably reasonable for dial-up, but I think that it might over time spread to most people. As blocks become larger, people on average PCs would have to switch to lightweight nodes, then even hobbyists, and then even small businesses.

Maybe there should just be a planned hardfork every 4 years (or whatever) where the max block size is set to something reasonable and other fixes are made.

Alright, I fixed that.

I'd create a Bitcoin wallet device capable of storing keys and signing transactions. When you want to make a transaction, you'd plug it into a computer (yours or a merchant's) and it'd communicate with software running on the computer to figure out the transaction details and then ask for your approval. This can be done safely without the device knowing anything about the block chain. It'd make in-person transactions and cold storage of BTC very easy.

That is a clear example of trolling. You were making ridiculous statements just to cause drama.

Ads are allowed to contain any non-annoying HTML/CSS style. No images, JavaScript, or animation (no marquee or blinking). Ads must appear 3 or fewer lines tall in my browser. Ads will be prefixed with "Advertisement:". Ad text may not contain lies, misrepresentation, or inappropriate language. Ads may not link directly to any NSFW page. Ads may be rejected for other reasons.

There are 10 total ad slots which are randomly rotated. So one ad slot has a one in ten chance of appearing. Seven of the slots are for sale here. Ads appear only on topic pages with more than one post, and only for people using the default theme.

The ad lasts 7 days starting from when I put it up.

Auction rules

Post your bids in this thread. Prices must be stated in BTC per slot. You must state the max number of slots you want. When the auction ends, the highest bidders will have their slots filled until all eight slots are filled.

So if someone bids for 8 slots @ 5 BTC and this is the highest bid, then he'll get all 8 slots. If the two highest bids are 8 slots @ 4 BTC and 1 slot @ 5 BTC, then the first person will get 7 slots and the second person will get 1 slot.

The notation "2 @ 5" means 2 slots for 5 BTC each. Not 2 slots for 5 BTC total.

- When you post a bid, the bids in your previous posts are considered to be automatically canceled. You can put multiple bids in one post, however.
- All bid prices must be evenly divisible by 0.25.
- The bidding starts at 0.5.
- I will end the auction at an arbitrary time no more than 12 days from now. (I will probably end the auction 1-3 days before the ads are scheduled to go up.)
- If two people bid at the same price, the person who bid first will have his slots filled first.
- Bids are considered invalid and will be ignored if they do not specify both a price and a max quantity, or if they could not possibly win any slots

If these rules are confusing, look at some of the past forum ad auctions to see how it's done. I also post periodic status updates which should help make things clear.
