4061  Other / Meta / Re: [bug] cliking "delete post" with middle button kills it , no confirmation dialog on: February 20, 2013, 02:20:25 AM
Does the forum not pop up with an alert on "Are you sure you would like to delete this post?"

EDIT: Ah, it looks like it does! This could be fixed by making the delete button call a JS function that pops up that, instead of directly linking to it.

Then it wouldn't work if you have JavaScript disabled.
4062  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Nefario on: February 19, 2013, 08:51:44 PM
If he lost his GPG key, I won't be able to verify that the lists are actually from Nefario...
4063  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Block Explorer on: February 19, 2013, 08:49:17 PM
Hey BBE was great. It was the first and is now totally overrun by blockchain.info. I hope that Liraz Siri is genuinely interested in competing with blockchain.info so we don't slide into a monopoly situation.

Yes, that's one reason I'm selling it. Even if I devoted all of my time to BBE, I doubt I could compete with piuk. He's superhuman!
4064  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Block Explorer on: February 19, 2013, 02:44:24 PM
This is not quite finalized yet, but I am planning on selling Bitcoin Block Explorer to Liraz Siri. I really would have liked to have kept running it, but as you've undoubtedly noticed I have not been able to add any new features to BBE or even fix bugs (such as the long-broken search feature) due to lack of time. Liraz seems trustworthy and genuinely interested in the project, so I feel pretty good about selling the site to him.

Previously I said that access logs would not be kept for longer than 30 days. I will no longer have control over that, though I will make sure that logs from before the sale are deleted.

Thanks for your support.
4065  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scammer: Audiation on: February 19, 2013, 02:36:20 AM
If, in my case, not refund the bitcoins but I got in return an itunes card for $50 instead of $ 75 it offered initially Audiation.

Do you consider the issue settled?
4066  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Bug: Incorrect datadir location on Windows on: February 19, 2013, 12:47:26 AM
It works for me, though I get this warning:

C:\Users\Michael\Desktop\electrum-master\lib\util.py:72: SyntaxWarning: import * only allowed at module level

Thanks.
4067  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Support gribble (IRC bot courtesy of nanotube)? on: February 18, 2013, 06:32:19 AM
Whatever happened to mizerydearia?  Did he go down in flames with the Pirate ponzi?

No, he acquired a severe mental illness and became unable to function. Very sad situation. Someone knowledgeable in such matters should go to Pittsburgh and try to help him. I'd donate.
4068  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scammer: Audiation on: February 17, 2013, 05:43:04 PM
Someone claiming to be audiation's mother says that they paid everyone back. Grin
4069  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Bug: Incorrect datadir location on Windows on: February 17, 2013, 04:25:54 PM
I could change this but I guess we need some intelligent code that will check if there are wallets in %LOCALAPPDATA% and move them to %APPDATA%.

Yeah, that's why I didn't just fix it myself and submit a pull request.

Do you have a source about this? (APPDATA vs LOCALAPPDATA)

Windows uses the Local and LocalLow folders for application data that does not roam with the user. Usually this data is either machine specific or too large to roam. The AppData\Local folder in Windows Vista is the same as the Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data folder in Windows XP.

Windows uses the Roaming folder for application specific data, such as custom dictionaries, which are machine independent and should roam with the user profile. The AppData\Roaming folder in Windows Vista is the same as the Documents and Settings\username\Application Data folder in Windows XP.

Basically this means that Local/LocalLow stuff, since it doesn't "roam with the user", isn't very important and doesn't need to be saved.
4070  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scammer: Audiation on: February 17, 2013, 03:31:36 PM
Is this settled?
4071  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Greetings from an old member on: February 17, 2013, 05:36:51 AM
Why can't you use the password reset feature?
4072  Bitcoin / Electrum / Bug: Incorrect datadir location on Windows on: February 17, 2013, 04:42:33 AM
On Windows, Electrum puts its data directory in %LOCALAPPDATA%. This is incorrect. %LOCALAPPDATA% is for non-critical files such as temporary files. This directory is usually not backed up by backup software, and it is sometimes scheduled to be reset regularly. Clearly not a good place for wallet files.

The correct location is %APPDATA%.
4073  Other / Meta / Re: [Feature added] Color besides usernames for Ignored by % of established members. on: February 17, 2013, 03:42:54 AM
The color is no longer displayed on topic pages where all pages are being displayed because the query is rather slow.
4074  Other / Meta / Re: Upcoming downtime on: February 17, 2013, 02:34:34 AM
I don't think that it's a bandwidth/DDoS problem. I think that the server's hardware is just too weak to handle this much traffic.

Any estimated time frame on the server buy?

Less than a week, hopefully.
4075  Other / Meta / Re: Upcoming downtime on: February 17, 2013, 02:16:49 AM
theymos, was this because of new changes again? We need to be more pro-active about forum stability and software if we want to match forum growth, and the growth of Bitcoin as a whole.

No. Traffic is much higher, but I don't know exactly why it gets so slow. Memory usage seems fine now. Things improve after I restart mysql, php-fpm, etc., but then the site gradually slows down over time.

As I said, I'm making arrangements to move to a better server. This isn't as easy as it sounds because I don't (and won't) control any of the forum's critical assets other than the BTC. So I need to get someone trustworthy to buy the server (this part seems OK, but not done yet), and I need to get Sirius to update the DNS (I haven't heard from him yet).
4076  Other / Off-topic / Re: I think Sirius (Martti Malmi) is Satoshi Nakamoto... on: February 16, 2013, 04:00:19 AM
I was here for much of the time period that you're talking about, and I'd be very surprised if Sirius is Satoshi. Satoshi would have had to have gone to ridiculous lengths to create such a natural alt identity.
4077  Other / Meta / Re: Upcoming downtime on: February 15, 2013, 03:23:59 AM
I improved some more settings and restarted the web server.

I will probably switch to a much more powerful server in a week or two. I've been making arrangements.
4078  Economy / Speculation / Re: Four hours to a new record price! on: February 15, 2013, 03:05:31 AM
I'd buy, but I'm out of USD. Sad
4079  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie restrictions on: February 15, 2013, 02:18:54 AM
It says I can't reply because I posted less than 360 seconds ago, but this is my first post!!

Several different actions count as "posting". This includes reporting posts and sending PMs.
4080  Economy / Auctions / Advertise on this forum - Round 71 on: February 15, 2013, 12:14:43 AM
In order to collect more money for the creation of good forum software, the forum is selling ad space in the area beneath the first post of every topic page.

Ads are allowed to contain any non-annoying HTML/CSS style. No images, JavaScript, or animation (no marquee or blinking). Ads must appear 3 or fewer lines tall in my browser. Ads will be prefixed with "Advertisement:". Ad text may not contain lies, misrepresentation, or inappropriate language. Ads may not link directly to any NSFW page. Ads may be rejected for other reasons.

There are 10 total ad slots which are randomly rotated. So one ad slot has a one in ten chance of appearing. Eight of the slots are for sale here. Ads appear only on topic pages with more than one post, and only for people using the default theme.

The ad lasts 7 days starting from when I put it up.

Stats

Exact historical impression counts per slot:

Auction rules

Post your bids in this thread. Prices must be stated in BTC per slot. You must state the max number of slots you want. When the auction ends, the highest bidders will have their slots filled until all eight slots are filled.

So if someone bids for 8 slots @ 5 BTC and this is the highest bid, then he'll get all 8 slots. If the two highest bids are 8 slots @ 4 BTC and 1 slot @ 5 BTC, then the first person will get 7 slots and the second person will get 1 slot.

The notation "2 @ 5" means 2 slots for 5 BTC each. Not 2 slots for 5 BTC total.

- When you post a bid, the bids in your previous posts are considered to be automatically canceled. You can put multiple bids in one post, however.
- All bid prices must be evenly divisible by 0.25.
- The bidding starts at 0.5.
- I will end the auction at an arbitrary time no more than 12 days from now. (I will probably end the auction 1-3 days before the ads are scheduled to go up.)
- If two people bid at the same price, the person who bid first will have his slots filled first.
- Bids are considered invalid and will be ignored if they do not specify both a price and a max quantity, or if they could not possibly win any slots

If these rules are confusing, look at some of the past forum ad auctions to see how it's done. I also post periodic status updates which should help make things clear.

You must pay for your slots within 24 hours of receiving the payment address. Otherwise your slots may be sold to someone else.
