cryptx please post some updates about deliveries and refunds! You promised me shipping in the second week of October!
4182  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: October 09, 2013, 10:34:04 PM
Paladin,
I think it will still hash, but I want to get KnC's opinion prior to trying to hash without the board that has the burned cap.

I removed the board this afternoon, found an esd (antistatic) bag that I luckily had lying about and got it packaged and ready to ship back to Sweden tomorrow.

Hopefully when I wake up, KnC will have emailed me to say whether to continue limp-hashing.

You can hash without the boards, just be sure to remove the damaged board with the PSU turned off.
4183  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: October 09, 2013, 08:52:53 PM
KNC didn't win anything.  remember they started their company months earlier than HF and are just delivering product now which is a bit late.

HF may also be a week late but what do you expect?  if they can deliver by 1st week Nov, given the superior tech and MPP, I am more than happy to be a HF customer and prefer their odds of dominance in the long run.

something that hasn't been stressed enough is that the HF "module" that contains a pre-mounted chip is the only proprietary piece in a BJ or Sierra.  the module is it's own motherboard.  there is no separate pcb needed.  everything else, case, cooler, psu, RaspPi, fans, is OEM.

unlike KNC which has a proprietary casing and controller.

you buy a bunch of modules and you could start your own distribution business.

Quoted for posterity!

Update:

Good News!  HashFast will be announcing Contact imminently.

Please check the HashFast Blog for more information.

What lousy PR. "Imminently" meaning more than 12 hours? Or you just wanted to create some useless traffic on their blog?
Yes, quite an annoying technique.

I must admit, you're not the only one annoyed.

Maybe other people don't bother wasting time to teach you or Hashfast how to do their PR job...

so why even change my status to "in progress"??

what does that actually mean? Either my unit is finished and ready for shipping or it's not. In progress sounds like something that takes weeks or months, hell its been in progress since june, when i paid.

Agreed.  It's strange to change the status then just let them sit.  The "we'll get around to it when we can" vibe I'm getting is starting to become reminiscent of BFL's transparency.

I'm beginning to think Sept 30th was a 'dog and pony show' to say "look we made it in time for September" when that really wasn't the case.  Now they are solving issues.  Like boards catching fire and units that aren't hashing anywhere close to what they should.

Never saw BFL compensate clients for delays...but yeah once again i understand why burnin won't work with customers anymore.
4187  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitburner Fury - Hashrate Protection on: October 08, 2013, 09:44:25 PM
Also time to change the item description with the actual hashrate on the Asic-Hardware website:

http://www.asic-hardware.com/product/bitburner-fury-incl-chips/

At the moment you are deceiving potential customers. And if you review the price you may be selling shit loads more boards.
Just saying. Up to you.

He did that from the start of the shop since he advertised 80Gh/s which was never demonstrated (5Gh/s per chip was never achieved by anyone). That's the reason we never saw a fully populated board hashing. Oh well just another fiasco in the bitcoin world. I am waiting for the promised refunds too, let's see how will that work.

FlappySocks you ordered with a coupon? Won't Paypal refund just the difference and won't that be a bit too much of a loss?
4188  Economy / Securities / Re: [LABCOIN] IPO [BTCT.CO] - Details/FAQ and Discussion (ASIC dev/sales/mining) on: October 08, 2013, 08:53:37 PM
Labcoin burned us badly but Bitfury and Friedcat have kept their identities fairly well hidden and they seem pretty legit.

Bitfury didn't raise any upfront money so there was no need for his identity.

Noob question: how do i see the pool's luck? Thx.
4190  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitburner Fury - Hashrate Protection on: October 08, 2013, 12:01:15 PM
Yup, Fan only for every 2nd board.

If ordered just one board - is there no fan included???

Wtf, I presumed that this was just a slightly dodgy translation and that a fan, mounting brackets and standoffs would be provided for the first of every two boards (as I believe was the case for the bitburnerXX). How can you charge 900 Euro for a highly overclocked board without including a 10 Euro fan and 1 Euro worth of mounting brackets and standoffs Angry? We've got a stack of 120 and 140mm fans lying around, but none of the 90mm?? fans or correctly sized mounting brackets to make this into the neat little solution that it should be.

Sorry guys, I'm trying to stay positive here, but this just seems to be unnecessary penny pinching.

Because this is the way cryptx is doing business. He learned from Yifu!
4191  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Work in progess] Burnins Avalon Chip to mining board service on: October 08, 2013, 12:01:37 AM
By the way does anyone know the number of customers burnin had? If everyone donated as little as 0.5 BTC i'm sure he could make up a pretty good amount of his loss and even if i dislike the fact that he is so silent i think us the customers can do this little gesture to help him even if things didn't work out as planned.
4192  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BitSyncom, what compensation is planned for chip buyers/trade in customers? on: October 07, 2013, 11:57:21 AM
Good luck with that!
4193  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon Gen2 on: October 03, 2013, 12:15:55 AM
Unless it's <5$/Gh they can shove it up their arse!

LET THIS USELESS THREAD DIE PLEASE!
4195  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Thread: Advanced Mining Technology (AMT) on: October 02, 2013, 01:04:16 AM
I'm starting to wonder what's the point of having thread. All you guys do is just bash newcomers in this business it seems. All sales have come from someplace else, not this thread. Anyway, just wanted to announce that after working with our design team we have launched three new bitfurry based products on our site.

Bitfurry based 64ghs, 128ghs, and 192ghs.  These three models have a 4 week shipping period from the date of purchase, but it'll probably be around 20-25 days.

http://advancedminers.com/bitcoin-mining-hardware/

Any questions please send to sales@advancedminers.com

I don't know if you are familiar with this sub-forum history, but we had many scams and many failed attempts to build miners so that's why we bash newcomers. You didn't think making money was an easy job right?Cheesy
Now can you please give us more details about your bitfury miners? Are you shipping them in those cases? Who will design/create the PCBs needed for the miners? Can you show some proof that you ordered some bitfury chips?
4196  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: October 01, 2013, 10:47:54 PM
congrats Gyrsur! You have been added to my prestigious troll ignore list!

calculating consequences. there are not soo many usefull posts from his history. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=135739;sa=showPosts

shouldn't me affect in a negative way.

EDIT: did start to use this forum with a KNC post. maybe a KNC fanboy as well?

What's your agenda here?
4197  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KNC, 100% of their hashing is currently going into their own pocket. on: October 01, 2013, 10:17:55 PM
Ok let me rephrase my question. Why didn't you blame Avalon's customers for funding a mining hardware company that mined in competition with their customers? You weren't harsh at all when there were multiple proofs that they mined a lot with the units before shipping.
Uh. I direct your attention to the first post in this thread:
I do not understand why miners keep funding mining hardware companies that mine in competition with their own customers.
AFAIK, at this point most of this sub-forum has sworn off doing business with Avalon in the future.

I comment generally pretty infrequently. Consider the responses here if you wonder why.  I said at the outfront that I was being a bit intentionally inflammatory about it, but I do think that its a sad state that we've created an environment where the community takes all the risk of the NRE in building a mining device and the end result is these consolidations which undermine the value of that investments. KNC is but one example of it— and not the worst, but with all the claims of how much integrity KNC has, perhaps its the best example that the community here tolerates the behavior rather than something exploitative. Take it for what you will.

Besides, everyone knows that I'm secretly YipYip and Crumbs.

So you are targeting KNC just because they claimed to have some integrity compared to Avalon and BFL who didn't claim anything and they treated their customers like shit. You aren't targeting retard Inaba who still hasn't honored his lost bet about the power consumption in order to attract more fools (http://www.bitcoindf.org/ 493 BTC still owed and it doesn't even matter it's not a real charity).

You say that you aren't targeting Avalon because most of this sub-forum has sworn to not do business with them anymore, but i don't understand why don't you let this sub-forum do the same thing with KNC if they feel they have been tricked. Also you give this warning after more than 3 companies have already raised up money for their NRE costs (HashFast, Cointerra and Bitmine, maybe VMC and maybe some other companies that i don't recall) Maybe Bitfury too, but i'm not sure where all the hashing from ghash.io comes.

I don't even want to start about the large amount that they mined (sarcasm), but i would like to make you read again Vorksholk's post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=305447.msg3274263#msg3274263 and specifically to this quote:
Quote
Direct quote from KnCMiner Website: "We will not mine with more than 5% of the hash rate we sell, and we will never mine with customer hardware."
Considering that they mine with under 5% your point isn't valid from the start so what are we actually doing here? Letting people know that they keep their promises?
4198  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KNC, 100% of their hashing is currently going into their own pocket. on: October 01, 2013, 09:21:24 PM
You switched to "selective replies" only? You missed my questions.
I did? Really?  Of course, everyone here has free will, and if anything I think people's unwillingness to selectively read and reply contributes a lot to trolling around here. I certainly don't feel the need to respond point by point to every question, and none of you should either. If you feel I've missed something essential, please hit me up and PM and I'll reply more if I agree!

In any case, I don't see any evidence on testnet of KNC mining there. Bitcoinorama made a falsifiable claim which appear to me to be false. I'm just asking him to clarify here to avoid any confusion.

Cool, but what do you want to see?

The miner that they showed yesterday and various iterations that have banked an entire 1BTC earlier.

Aside from that there is the FPGA revisions that utilised testnet.

Asking Sam he said it's not a problem, when back in Stockholm it means asking one of the software engineers for access. App thousands of coins were found on testnet as the diff is so low there, rewards were easy. Customers demand real world evidence.

EDIT: idee2013 that's not KnC. No idea.
So what you are saying is the topic of this thread is a lie. I thought as much.

No. The topic of this thread is true and will remain true no matter what. Read it again. All of THEIR hashing is going into THEIR pockets Wink I will call this phrasing fine art trolling because it spreads FUD where it shouldn't.
4199  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KNC, 100% of their hashing is currently going into their own pocket. on: October 01, 2013, 09:07:00 PM
i recall sam and andreas saying during first "open day", that any testing of actual customers miners will be done straight towards the customers btc adress.

they did let ONE of the miners run. for some peanuts. and the moderator opens a thread yelling "100 % OF THEIR HASHING (power) ...OWN POCKET."

i am only here since march. so still not very experienced. and here i see a hero member, lots of gold wrapped under his name, even a moderator giving one of the best examples of FUD. especially when considering that the immoral tactic op is accusing knc has actually been used by competitors at large.
bfl pockets are deep. hard to imagine that "their" money reaches that far.

disclosure:
i have been slapped in my face by bfl. (no refund)
i have been burnt by avalon III group buy. (refunded)
i have been burnt by avalon chip sale. (sold)
i have several knc orders.

edit: typo, disclosure brackets

No offense, but gmaxwell isn't just a moderator. He is one of the main developers of bitcoin.

And that comes with the right of being impartial?
