I actually have 2 running but I'm cautious to run the majority of the rest of mine primarily because it is the beginning of spring time here and I haven't found a viable solution to combat the massive pollen in the air right now. I understand that I'll obviously still make money if I continue to mine daily if BTC goes back up, its just I'd rather see where things go with the market before I put some time on the newer miners that I have.
How high is your electric rate? I'm at 9.6 cents/kw and I'm still making money. Can you not put in some Merv 3 filters to deal with the pollen without adding too much backpressure?

Bitmain's 16nm Bitcoin ASIC orders have recently been shifted from TSMC's Fab 14 in Taiwan to the fab in Nanjing, China as Fab 14 will be upgraded to support a 12nm manufacturing process. The orders are expected to begin shipments in May, the sources said.
Read that carefully folks... Order were shifted to the China fab, presumable also a 16nm one. Fab 14 was being upgraded, but Bitmains chips would not be coming from there now, they will be coming from the older tech China plant.

My first 2 are the same...and best of all, they both average 1311 watts at the wall! That means that my host fees for these 2 are are $85 per month each instead of $98 each that my S9s cost with their 1450-1500 watt draw! I wish I could replace all of my S9s with these 841s! As do we all! Alas, with Bitmain aggressively pricing the S9s, and adding coupons to boot, its really hard to cost justify Avalons right now.

I'm thinking about switching back to Kano pool, how have things been guys? Everything still working good?
I'm happy here. Pool is growing quickly too.

Looks like my ramp up is nearly complete and hopefully I'll be over my electricity costs within the next couple of blocks if we're hitting 100%.
Looks at your shift graft. When the red line is level with your blue line, your fully ramped up.

Yeah, that is a bit high, but not out of range. Its one of the reasons I use Fed-Ex, their custom fees are lower than UPS or DHL.

I have to wonder why none of the competition has cloned this design. There are many places where you want to have these silent miners...
There's simply not enough demand for quiet miners. Most large buyers of mining supplies operate farms where noise is not an issue, and having a silent miner is a rather niche product when you can just sell larger volumes louder ones. I still find it interesting Bitmain has put 'Coming Soon' on their R4 product page but they haven't come out with any news about it yet. Same for the clock-router LTC miner that they have, the page for that showed up 2-3 weeks ago but there's been no news about it whatsoever besides the product page. They may have been quiet, but they were not cost effective. S9s provided a lot more hashing for your dollar than the R4s did.

25 blocks to maturity, think those share calculations will be ready by then?
Have faith in the Kano. The Kano is Good. (He said he would have it ready by then, and there is little point distracting him asking again)

What i mean is that it was at a 170% luck. So, changing your pool to another pool with below 80% luck, should mean u gain something because that currently high 170% lucky pool will not be so lucky next and the low 80% luck pool will gain some luck next.
I have read that some people do it manually. Not sure how well it works lol
Last post on this: No! The 170% lucky pool could go to 190% and the 80% luck pool could go to 60%. ITS RANDOM!!!! The chances of finding a block ARE NOT affected by prior luck. PERIOD.

How close are we to a miner revolution? I'm presently in process of upgrading to 40~ miner strong and as I am nearing the end of the upgrade process for electricity, I am weary of investing heavily now into this generation of 13.5 THs miners..
Appreciate your insight.
My guess is that we will see something new for Bitmain in June, shortly after the coupons expire. Others say November. My SPECULATION is that they will simply be S9s with ASICBoost or some similar variation. I don't see any smaller die/significantly more efficient product coming out in the short run. I'm probably going to use up my $400+ coupons to buy up more 13.5TH units, but once those are gone will continue to expand with 841s. They just RUN. No issues, no having to monitor them for performance decreases fixed by reboots, no cards mysteriously failing.

Btw, do u think a program that automatically switches the S9 from a currently higher luck pool to a currently lower luck pool, would give some extra money?
You do understand that a pools luck can change in a fractions of a second right? Its not a THING, it has no MEMORY, its 100.000000000% RANDOM LUCK. The moment you change from an "unlucky" pool, it could find the next block. Short answer: no. Yeah but in general it doesnt always do so. There is a wide gap of 70% gap for quite a few hours between last 10 blocks and last 50 blocks on slushpool now. It will go back to near 100% eventually. Hmmm noted Actually, it DOES do so. The only way for a pool to go from a historical 70% luck back to average 100% luck is for it to run at over 100% luck for awhile. e.g. 70% for 2 weeks + 130% for 2 weeks = 100% for 4 weeks; more or less.

I finally got all my miners running at the same time...cookin w/gas now! Had to do some hillbilly stuff w/extension cords but they are all up and hashing full throttle. Cmon BLOCK!!!!!
I hope your use of extension cords is very temporary.

I know Canadians don't worry much about this, but I'm worried the cops are gonna think I got an indoor grow operation going on. They raided one not far from me a couple years back. What am I gonna tell swat when they bust in?
Show them the miners, and lack of growing lights. Better yet, have a window they can peer into. I use to have a similar concern when I raised live coral. Coral eat light. I had 5800 watts of metal halide lighting over my aquarium. The profile was identical to growing pot. I made sure the basement windows were uncovered so they could look in, and frequently invited neighbors over to see the aquarium. e.g. If the feds expended ANY effort prior to breaking in, they could figure out what was going on. If they didn't, I'd sue them for incompetence.

What’s the average time we find a block in the pool?
On average, after 3,511,060,552,899 shares. What he means to say is the time always changes based on the pool hashrate and this 2016 blocks-worth of network difficulty, but on average, we expect it will take 100% of the whatever the network difficulty is at the time. But keep in mind that is an AVERAGE. We have found multiple blocks in one day, and we have gone several days between blocks. Over the long term, like 6 months, it averages out, as it does for any pool large enough to find blocks "regularly".

[ I mean put 1 miner on another pool for a week or 2 just to test its returns against all your other miners in another pool.
Can do a comparison on returns then
Your missing my point: All pools have random luck. That luck averages out over a period of something like 250-1000 blocks to approximately 100% - as expected. Using the optimistic 250 number, if your Slushpool and find a dozen blocks a day, that is 20 days. If your Kano and find a block every couple of days, that is something like 500-750 days. You CAN NOT compare returns over a period of a week or two and have a statistically valid result. What you can do is run the math and figure out which will pay out better over a year or so.

So my ping to west coast is 56.* and my ping to east coast is 57.*
Sounds like you should set one of them as pool 1 and the other as pool 2. Also sounds like U r in St. Louis You made me curious. From a server I have access to near St. Louis (Ofallon, Mo.) Stratum.kano.is averages about 67ms Nya.kano.is averages about 52ms

Good news is I hope to have Bitcoin Core up and running after I get back from a weekend anniversary getaway--no, my wife will not let me do any Bitcoin related stuff over this weekend. Well, then you have just enough time to get your blockchain sync started... that will take a couple of days. Might as well let your computers work if you can't.

MINE MINE MINE!!!! That is, for sure, the first block I've ever gotten credit for - at least that I know of! lol

One more question: The minimum fan percentage that my installation of the controller firmware defaulted to was 100%. The mini-documentation beside the field on the page says the default value is 10% but it burnt into my controller with 100%.
So my fans my on 4 841 miners run full blast constantly, even on these cool nights where chip temps are in the 50/60C range. Should I change it to the default so I will get variable fan control? Or did Canaan realize these 841s need 100% fan all the time?
Thanks again!
You can change the minimum, I did.
