421  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Giveaway scammed me for 1.67 btc on: October 16, 2013, 09:36:03 PM
The forum doesn't give out scammer tags anymore. Hasn't for a few month since the introduction of the trust system.

I can't wait to see who is coming next.

The last time someone said that, Eternal September happened.

Hm, I wonder what the Eternal September would look like for bitcoin.  A lot of people coming into forums and asking for help getting started with bitcoin?

More likely asking for handouts and trying Nigerian Prince level scams.

Have you seen today's difficulty change yet? These things are going to be changing hands for 2 bucks per from now on. In fact I already saw it happen yesterday.
424  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Selling Bitcoin mining starter hobby kit! on: October 16, 2013, 08:57:28 PM
Also taking Bitcoin bid offers starting at 2 BTC.

Laff.  Cheesy
425  Other / Meta / Re: Is there any reason why I keep getting this error message... on: October 16, 2013, 07:52:55 PM
"Logging in" to the forums is falsely counted as a "post". So if not enough time has passed between login and your first post attempt you will get the message even though you have not posted yet in this session.

This reminds me of the epic drunk driving thread.  A whole slew of Libertarians simply could not see a problem with drunk driving unless one is unfortunate enough to get into an accident and kill someone while doing so.  And they appeared to make an earnest attempt to contemplate the issue.  Sadly.  These people will always be fringe outliers in society and it's kind of a shame because a lot of their core beliefs about 'liberty' are actually pretty good.  Fortunately, though, Libertarians don't monopolize some of these concepts though here again they often fool themselves into believing that they do.

Reminds me of the "AM I UNDER ARREST" video with the two drunk Aussie libertarians getting into a race with the popo then shitting their pants when they get their windows kicked in.

That blonde saved the thread for me Smiley

Pretty sure that's not Zyzz.

Have some Zyzz

Murder of two men?
Did they die  Shocked

That's what murder usually does to a person.

Only in this case I should have elaborated. The murders were staged and no one was hurt during the production of the drama.
429  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Giveaway scammed me for 1.67 btc on: October 16, 2013, 07:28:21 PM

Saying you left a package with a postal lady that was on lunch break = dead giveaway it was a scam. Theres two scenarios when it comes to mailing stuff at the post office. You either have a prepaid label on the package, which means you bought postage online or at a self-service kiosk, which means you would have access to the tracking number, OR, you bought postage in person at the post office, and transactions have to be completed in person and paid for in person.

You can't just leave a package sitting on the counter, say you want priority on it, then leave without paying for the postage.

Sorry, you were scammed.

And even IF it were possible I would go in there right behind you and steal your package of druggedy goods right off the counter. Or someone else.
430  Other / Off-topic / Re: DPR is a hero! on: October 16, 2013, 07:26:31 PM

The why?
For running a narcotics black market and ordering the murder of two men.

The how?
By big burly men in a loving embrace in the prison showers.
431  Other / Archival / Re: Moderator deleting posts? on: October 16, 2013, 07:24:25 PM
Could a mod/admin recommend a way to welcome new users without violating the TOS? I often say welcome or hello to newbies. It is good to welcome them and I would not want to end the practice. Would a longer welcoming response do the trick?

I don't think that is a problem if you have other types of posts outweighing the "town greeter" posts. There were a lot of proto-scammer type accounts around lately where 95% of posts were just "Welcome back" in an obvious attempt to pump their numbers.

Why are posts in that thread being deleted?

I'm not sure why those posts would be deleted, it would have to have been done by a global mod or admin.
Well, I don't see any real reason for posts in the off topic section to be deleted. That thread has already been ruined as some numbers are missing due to the deletion of posts..

You should probably restart from the beginning. A clean slate, if you will.

The second one is him agreeing to sent priority with tracking, but the postal lady was on "lunch brake"  so he left the package there to ship.

435  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: new bitcoin difficulty to 263,358,983 and future profitability of mining on: October 16, 2013, 06:53:34 PM
I've said this 100 times before.  You shouldn't power off your miners ever.  Even if you are running in the red.  It's not about the immediate compensation.  Quotes like " It's not worth it to mine because you are losing money on the power," & " It's time to shut off my GPU's because it's not worth it" I believe you are thinking to narrowminded.  Yes you are right, you are not/cannot make money if you are running in the red, but in the end, there is a finite amount of bitcoins.  A total mass of BitCoins that can not be exceeded.  You can't mine more after that. So keep your miners running until that day happens.  Every fraction of a bitcoin you find, it will be worth something, someday.  That .0004 you are getting today, could be worth $100 dollars in 10 years once BitCoin has exhausted it's mining potential.

You know what runs on the same principle? The Christian faith.
436  Economy / Lending / Re: Request 6 BTC loan - Repay 8 BTC in 1 month on: October 16, 2013, 06:23:02 PM
Not spamming, trying to post a video my friend - don't know how though...
The video has no relation to my loan or to the thread, so its technically a spam.

Actually it's completely ontopic. You should probably brush up on your knowledge of the classics.
437  Economy / Goods / Re: Considering selling vtc.com for 70,000 Bitcoins on: October 16, 2013, 06:04:13 PM
@greyhawk - I have a great team running VTC for the last 13 years, I semi retired in 2004, sailing for 6 years around the world, and moved here a couple years ago to create an incubator to work on new ideas and do some angel investment. So, running things by phone..well, I have been remotely running businesses for a long time.

That's pretty cool. I read up on you a while ago, reminds me of Randy Lawrence Waterhouse a little.  Grin
