Did I miss some news today? Price up almost 80%?
Maybe people are realizing that it's one of a few legitimate, non-shady altcoins outside of the major alts trading on Cryptsy. Or maybe people are realizing that with the Bitcoin regulation meetings to take place next month, and the possibility of a Bit License being required not just by businesses offering virtual currencies as a payment option, but also by a representative of the development team of a virtual currency as well. And that the registration fee is a non-trivial amount, that many of these virtual currencies and their 'teams' will be forced to disappear so to maintain their (shady) anonymity. And maybe people know that such a Bit License would be a non-issue for CB...that I could take care of it quite easily and happily. I would applaud it actually. Good riddance to all these shady mother fuckers making coins. Or maybe it's just people trying to buy something there's not much of... Or maybe... http://www.marketwatch.com/story/ny-regulator-considers-bitcoin-regulation-license-2013-11-14Hahaha like it

anyone else that have a slow responding cgb client? after last update it takes a lot of time before the GUI is responsive... no probs with other wallets btw
keep up the good work!!
Depends on what you mean with this. I have no issues with the client. What i mean is that with the new client it takes up to a few minutes before it comes out of freeze (ex. clicking on the tray icon is non responsive), seems not very stable to me this version... I think x0rcist means the splash screen when first running the client, I have noticed it 'hangs' for much longer on startup. Could be a lot worse on older and slower machines.

What block is the subsidy going to halve, is it on block 200k ? I want to see it back up in the 0.002 price level.
Wait a little...I give it a maximum of 4 weeks (probably earlyer) and the price will be way higher then in the 0.002 range, just my belives, might be wrong Block reward halves from 1.25 CGB to 0.6125 CGB at block 195,001. I agree that we will see a lot higher than 0.002, and in the not too distant future I can see 0.02 - 0.04. As soon as bitcoin takes a breather on its run, and BTC's come flowing back into alts, I expect so see a meteoric rise in CGB/BTC price. But its impossible put a timescale on when this will happen. Remember, CGB dollar value is on the rise. http://coinmarketcap.com/cgb_30.htmlAh thanks, so it will be in the next 26 to 32 hours...wow, so tomorow afternoon or evening Well, I expekt a huge price increase when the devs revel ther projects ...and that isnt to far away any more Yes that soon With every halving the effect on the CGB/BTC price of miners auto-selling their CGB becomes less and less. During quiet periods when there is not much buying going on, shoving the price up, all the auto-sells push the price down. When push comes to shove, the buyer will have the upper hand Also with CGB being so rare, the more the weak holders sell off the better IMO. The CGB being dumped are being passed on into many new hands, those hands will hold until they see a significant price increase on their investment, and many getting in to hold for the even longer term, locking those CGB away from the market.

I still have the 'Checkpoint too old..' message, after downloading the entire blockchain 4 times. Each time I deleted a different set of files (as per instructions) leaving the wallet.dat alone or some others as well.
I am using the Windows daemon , running from a folder on my desktop. Any other suggestions ??
Firstly backup up your wallet.dat. Then delete 'everything' in appdata/roaming/CGB and do a fresh install. Let the 'whole' blockchain download without using your backup wallet.dat. Close your client. Now replace the new wallet.dat with your backup copy. Run client. Thanks. I will try that when I have time for the whole download at once (taking around 2 hours at present) Ok no problem, let us know how it goes, and if you still have the same warnings we can look at other reasons why you are still getting the message.

It's gonna be interesting this month when subsidy halves
This week, this month, next month, next year, the year after? Just make sure you're onboard

But in terms of ROI?
CGB has excellent community and developer support. I'm not going to write up an A-Z on why you should invest in CGB and try to put something in your head to sway a decision, you can read back through this thread and get all the info you will require to make your own decision on an investment. This quote comes to mind though http://www.yourdictionary.com/he-who-hesitates-is-lost

If I had 1 cgb sent to me in random chunks through the month and left it, how much stake blocks would be generated if I rather took all of my cgb and sent it back to my address and left it? Would I mint more blocks or not? Or does it not matter?
If you are sending to the same address, every time 1 CGB is sent to it, days are reset to zero. If you send 1 CGB to a separate address every day for 30 consecutive days, you will have more chance to get POS blocks over the next 30 days after the first address becomes eligible for stake. Some addresses may take a few days, some less, some more. You wont be guaranteed to get a block every single day, and you wont be guaranteed every address will get POS within those 30 days. I would advise everyone to do this, or split their funds to create more POS blocks. Doing this will help secure the blockchain and keep transactions moving as the POW mining reward dwindles Although you have the said 30 CGB spread between 30 addresses and are hitting more POS blocks, you are still receiving ~2% annually on those 30 CGB combined, whether they are in separate addresses or not.

Thanks for the help I have 7.45 CGB that are 34 days old. I'll leave my wallet unlocked and running. I know it is a game of luck, but how long on average can I expect to wait before I see anything happen? No problem, happy to help if I can I haven't waited more than a day or two. Not sure if this is correct, but I think the more coins you have in an address that havent been moved for 30 days, the more chance you have at generating a POS block. Just like having more hash power gives you more chance of finding a POW block.

Funds need to be left untouched for 30 days before they become eligible for stake generation. Your wallet needs to be unlocked for stake to be generated. If you have your wallet encrypted you can have it unlocked for stake minting purposes only. One method is to create a mint.bat file like described in the link in the above post. The other way is to click on help -debug window -console, in your qt client/wallet and type in- walletpassphrase 'your password' 99999 true. As for the minimum amount that can generate stake, I have looked a couple of pages back through the block explorer and a stake block was generated with only around 0.54 CGB http://explorer.cryptogenicbullion.org:2750/block/200ab7a4e5fcc50ea238a284c0d1688bdf5228d2455ab6cb5ccb8dbc4761d9cdSurely you have more than this Edit: With all this done, stake generation is still a game of luck. Just like solo mining. Edit2: Stake interest is paid as soon as you generate a POS block, and fully confirmed, and each 30 day period thereafter. Interest is around 2% annually so this works out at around 0.16666666666667% monthly if divided by 12.
