I suppose it's time for you to get a scammer tag.
One more thing, why are you still advertising your "exchange" in your signature?

sorry to offend you i have now removed them

Andre

Where did I say I was offended?

I still think you should get a scammer tag.
4303  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: SR $100k+ bitcoin scam on: May 26, 2012, 11:45:38 AM
This problem has been solved somewhat.  On Silk Road, I just ask that if people have less than 5 recent positive feedbacks they need to release the funds (called "finalizing early") in order to have the goods shipped.  If somebody is a trusted member this is not required.  So far, so good.  No system is 100% foolproof but the escrow services on Silk Road and Black Market Reloaded are pretty darn good.

How will newbs solve the problem when you decide to scam them and run with their money without sending their orders? Wink
BTW, I bought from you here on the forum and have no complaints. I'm just saying that the system isn't perfect.
Even with escrow, sellers are bound to be scammed by buyers who say they didn't get the stuff and newbs are bound to be scammed by sellers who ask them to "finalize early".

Delete the blkindex.dat and blk0001.dat files that you find inside the .bitcoin folder inside your home dir and start over. If you can't see the folder press ctrl+H to unhide it.
Also, make sure you have at least 2GB free on your HDD.

I've been buying from them for the last 3-4 months and I'm very pleased.
4307  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fake Mt. Gox emails on: May 26, 2012, 08:54:03 AM
I don't think so. I have my email in that leaked database and never ever got one of those  Undecided

Same, receive no spam at my gmail, word.

Ah... Mistery solved. Gmail flushes them and they don't even reach the spam folder. Mine is a gmail also.

Just curious, how did you determine that Gmail deletes them automatically?

The same way Gmail determined that I should change my password 10 minutes after the leaked MtGox database got posted.
You really think it's a coincidence that everybody who's on the leaked database gets MtGox phishing emails, except Gmail users?
And, yes, I'm sure they're not in the spam folder because I have the terrible habit of checking it every day, so they must have been deleted.
Or will you go as far as saying that the phisher skips my email(and Clipse's for that matter) just because I'm a nice guy? lol
Also, it's not cost efective to send MtGox phishing emails to emails scraped from the web, or from a completely unrelated list as it will significantly increase exposure to spam filters, thus lowering inboxing rates, while having a very low hit rate of potential victims. I can understand if they do that with paypal phishing emails, but not with MtGox.

I always got bugged why wasn't I getting those emails, but now that I see other Gmail user confirming he doesn't get those emails also I just added 2+2.

Case in point:
PPT announcement thread, April 13 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=76594.0
Second PPT thread, April 19 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=77237.0
First FUD thread about Pirate, April 24: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=77889.0

Before that thread every nay sayer told it on the main BS&T thread(this one) and quickly gave up.
The pattern is here for everyone to see.
Now, Patrick, tell me, who's in it for a quick buck? Me or you and your PPT buddies?
The greatest blind is the one that refuses to see...
4309  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: Bitcoin Savings and Trust on: May 26, 2012, 01:54:35 AM
The lazy Starfish likes the poll and has actually said interest rate is a bit high.

However, before someone shoots me, I'm thinking about the longer term and not the nice ride that the past six months has delivered.  There are some structural things that can be done to improve the whole deposit/interest rate trade-off to promote the business, and while 7% is nice for another month, even if it was 5% for another six months that would be better.

1- I only get 5.6%, so, what's your beef?
2- You talk like that because you're making money from the GLBSE speculators

Stop messing around with others business. If Pirate is getting all this unwarranted attention he can thank you and your PPT buddies.
If you wish a lower interest rate, be my guest: withdraw all your money and put it in a bank or on hashking program.

psy, I don't have "a beef"  However, I actually work reasonably hard at what I do, and built my initial deposit with pirate from 70-ish coins to 4000.  I have also helped a few other people get to their next tier of interest.  You also obviously don't understand (and can not actually know) all of the things I'm doing to make my money in the bitcoin world, and speculating on GLBSE is still only a small part of it.  (I know of several people that are doing that much more seriously than I am.)  When/if you have $20k or $100k at risk, then you would also seek to have diversified investments.  For example, there are people with over USD100k in with Pirate, much more than I do.

I am also not messing around with other people's business.  I have a much lower proportion of my assets deposited with BS&T having dropped from a max around 50% to currently around 20%.

What I was saying is that it makes practical sense to obtain a greater return over a decent time scale than a peaky return that only lasts a short time as the overall payoff is larger.  If you disagree with 5%/wk for six months versus 10%/week for a month, then th!at is just silly.

Like I said, I'm already making 5%. the one making 10% is you and your PPT buddies. If you think 10% is too much, get out. Who's keeping you here?

Pirate was getting all sorts of attention long before PPT.  We are trying to counter Pirate risk by offering the insurance.

Yes he was, from lenders. Now he gets attention from jealous haters.
Nice try tho. Did I touch a soft spot? Sorry, I have the tendency to do that...
Also, your insurance is a joke from a mathematical perspective. You can fool the fools, or even fool yourself, but you don't fool me.

Zhou, I don't remember if I had a balance on Bitcoinica or not.  If I did, it was a rather old balance.  I submitted a claim when the claims form was revealed, and put 0 btc in everything since I had no clue if I had anything in there or not.  Should I take any additional steps?  Resubmit a claim with different balances?

It was a small amount if any (I think 1 BTC or 5 BTC), so not a huge deal, just wondering what I should do to be sure I get back anything I did have in there.

You should be asking that to Mr. Hacker. He's the only one who knows your Bitcoinica balance now lol

Pirate himself contradicts your claim:  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=82849.0;topicseen

Of course he does. The part that tipped me off to exactly what was going on was when I followed a few particular trades that were made to certain individuals that ended right back in my wallet again. Then I started watching other trades through the same particular addresses. Then I started doing more, the details of which I can't go into on a public forum.

I guess I can't say for certain he knows he's working for SR. Maybe he's been working without asking questions like a good little mute. Then he can deny working for them, because he doesn't know who he's working for. I was under the impression he knew exactly who he was working for, though. If I were a betting man, I would still bet he's part of the crew, despite his denial. I'll explain why.

This might come as a surprise to you, but at any given point in time, three-or-more different largely trusted vendors of various products on SR are the exact same group of individuals. They rotate usernames in order to prevent detection, but sometimes they make mistakes and actually ship the same product in each other's merchandise. They typically tend to do this when they are moving on to their next username. They don't just have a "close relationship" with SR, either. They run it, or well, the geeks that run it know exactly who their biggest vendors are because they are close friends. I guess I thought, given who pirate is, that he was also part of this group of real life friends, but maybe for some dumb reason he just randomly appears on the forums in Fall 2011 with a trusted group of people needing significant amounts of money for "loans".

usagi is right, this won't continue forever, because he put a limit on how much you can invest. This limit exists because at some point they intend to either close up shop, or they understand that the authorities will be confiscating pirateat's wallet, and every coin in it will be property of the US federal government.

You want FUD? Ignore my warning now. Ignore usagi's warning. I complained that Bitcoinica could only make money at their customer's expense several months ago, and now people can't get their money back and the price of BTC is increasing. It's a little hard to call someone out on spreading FUD when you're still being secretive about exactly how you're able to find someone willing to lose about 7% in interest on a legal enterprise, and that's even before his cut. I can't imagine anyone in their right mind taking on those rates, even the foreign nationals I spoke to about remittance payments said 5% was pushing it.

So, you just admitted on shopping at Silk Road... You better watch the feds, you moron!
In fact I'll even go as far as saying you are the operator of Silk Road.
How do I know? Because you distribute money to people who are stupid enough to fall for scams.

Oh, wait: Nobody needs to worry, when Pirate runs aways with everyones money, Raize will still be here to cover our losses and pursue Pirate on the courts to recover his money, like he so much likes to boast about doing every time he bails out someone.

The dude can't tell the difference between 2.5 and 25 and you going to lend him money?  Shocked

Or are you expecting him to mess up the interest payment in your favour?

Click the speech baloon under his username and send him a personal message, maybe?
That requires at least one post, and was as such not possible prior to the creation of this thread.

But it is now, so my suggestion is valid. Tongue
