Thank you for this! 3.5kohm 150gh 213 watts at wall  . going to try for 5 ants on 1 psu  evga 1300

did you ever get to this?

I have 7 ants  looking to down clock and down volt.

 I have an evga 1300 and a seasonic 1000  they run 3 & 2 overclocked right now.

I have another seasonic doing the other 2.

I am at 1200gh and 2400 watts.   7 with your numbers

would be 1050gh and 1400 watts

anyone know why an s1 might failover and display BTCGuild as 'DEAD' while multiple other rigs do not??

A glitch in the matrix.

seriously if you use wi fi .

it happens more then if you use cat5/6 wire.  as I recall you were doing wi fi.

the connection may have dropped on the one piece of gear due to a wi fi issue.

I do not use wi fi since I am 10 miles from a naval air  base and also an air force base.

When they do maneuvers  they fly low and wreak havoc with wi fi.

as a pull fan correct?

I have these.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/151276722479?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

i got 14 for only 107.  truly really f'ing loud  but great pull fans.

cheap and easy to attach 4 pipe cleaners 4 nylon spacers

super easy to power

just want to add, wifi has been fine for me.

good as you are the rare wi fi winner…

so did you
 a) add an antenna
b) use 1 ant or many ants
c) have you run wif fi for 5 days with no issues.
d) have you clocked the hash preformance
e)  what is your wifi router make and model?
f) is the router far or pretty close
g) do you live near military bases and or airports.

I'm also one of the wifi winners!

A) yes, an antenna on every unit.
B) Many ants in two locations
C) Yes, I have to restart a unit every 10 days or so.
D) Yes, OCd units to 400mhz.  Units hash between 194-204Gh/s
E) Site 1: Asus rt-n16 with dd-wrt.  Site 2: Asus AC68u  w/stock firmware.
F) Site 1: 10m  Site 2: 18m
G) Site 1: No.   Site 2: Yes, ~4km

thanks for the info.   lastly  what antenna do you use?
43325  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner Batch 4, Price changes daily, now 2529 USD for 1TH/s on: May 10, 2014, 11:05:29 AM
Since these are basically the same chips as the s1 why is it so hard to overclock these to 1.2th/s? That is only 20gh/s per board.

I would think down the road we should see better results pumping these up.

first off  you blow up the  stock psu.
so you need to pull the psu and put in one like this:

http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-SuperNOVA-1300G2-ATX12V-120-G2-1300-XR/dp/B00COIZTZM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1399719720&sr=8-1&keywords=evga+1300

195 usd

or thishttp://www.amazon.com/SeaSonic-ATX12V-Platinum-PLATINUM-1200-SS-1200XP3/dp/B00JG5LSN8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1399719766&sr=8-1&keywords=seasonic+1200

290 usd

or this

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182063

adds to the roi.

next if you one from above  and oc the gear you will overheat it. So you need to improve cooling.  pull the fans put in ones with more air movement = louder and ac the room.

so squeezing out that extra hash will cost more then it is worth.

If you're going to do 50TH, forget the S1. Get 36 SP10s instead. Call up Spondoolies and I'm sure you get can a discount for a 36 unit order. Setting up 36 units would be a piece of cake.

if he could get  30 sp10s at the right price it is the best way to go.

not sure if they go low for a 30 unit buy.
43328  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ***Spondoolies Tech SP10 - Shipping May 16 - 1.5Th/s - $3,200*** on: May 09, 2014, 07:17:44 PM
Seriously tempted to test out an SP10, my Ants are happily marching along, but hey, variety is the spice of life Smiley

I have 110v power, will a 15amp circuit be enough?

dedicated  15 amp 110 volt line can supply about 1400 watts 24/7/365 .

 15 x 120 = 1800 x.8 = 1440

the .8 is the correct safety factor for 24/7/365 runtime.

the 15 is amps

the 120 is volts

I believe the sp10  psu pulls around 1200watts max.
43329  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain S2 vs Spondoolies SP10 on: May 09, 2014, 06:11:28 PM
SP10 is more suitable for installation in the engine room inside, but its price is too expensive! Even if Bitcoin prices back to $ 1000, your investment will not be fully recovered, even without considering the electricity cost.

And the price of S2 is better? It's actually more $/GH than the SP10. And with S2 you get this:

You'll need to RMA your current S2 back to bitmain and they will send a replacement out to you. Could take 2 or more weeks.

This is an ongoing issue with Bitmain in general. I too was just hit with a failed part, and the turn around on failed product WILL result in serious loss in mining payouts. There is an advantage to going with Bitmain for mining hardware, however due to their support on hardware with issues, you need to factor in as serious losses in revenue .

Oh yeah dead bitmain gear you get fucked on the rma.  that is pretty true.  Takes a long time for replacement.  they ask for a deposit .  Happened to me.

But a usa dealer sent me an s-1 upfront no cash no coin.  I sent him the dead one.  Since he is a big dealer he handled the rma for me.  So I only lost 4 days mining but no replacement deposit.

Thank you to bobsag3.

Hey now, don't go mentioning the s1 again. The spondoolie heads are busily pretending it doesn't exist.

But if you look up 1 post my fast jump to diff of 22/25 (under 30 days)

then really slow diff jump for 8 months makes the sp10 & sp30 a winner

Love the quality of the sp10  but my ice fury usb sticks were far better then ant miner u-1 sticks.

I made a lot of money selling u-1's  I got crushed selling ice furies.

Oh I came up with a model that makes the sp10 a clear winner.  btc stays dead flat 400 to 475 usd a coin.

Diff jumps like mad from the current 8 to 22 really fast. 2 or 3 jumps

Then diff stays dead flat 2 to 5 %   a jump for 8 months.

The sp10 and the sp30 would rock with that model.   better then the s-1 or the s-2.
43331  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Reward FOR answers] 50TH S1 Farm on: May 09, 2014, 05:02:18 PM
now if the op wants he could get

1th miners from bitmaintech   the price is now 2529 - 400 usd if you have a coupon

at 2129  they are pretty tempting .  he can pull 1 board from each one  as it gives the stock psu overhead.

sell a few boards on ebay keep a few board for spares.

much easier to manage. 45-50 machines then 250plus .
43332  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Antminer S1 Sales open] Price changes daily, now 0.508 BTC for 180GH/s on: May 09, 2014, 02:05:11 PM
@Bitmain

Thanks, got my 2 Antminers nice and quick!
Only problem I have is one of the Blades has failed ASIC's.. there are 3 x's

Can anything be done about this?

Thanks
try a reboot .  call the miner up

 go to system
go to reboot click reboot wait until login comes up 1 to 5 minutes

 log back in
 go to status

wait 2 minutes
go to miner status   no x's   we hope.

mdude   has an ant s-1 monitor that reboots automatically if x's turn up

maybe he can post a link to it. I use it with windows 7 in a vm on my mac mini  look at the monitor on second shot.

The exact make and model of your psu?

Many Psu's die running 24/7 close to their load rating.

I have used a dozen different psu's  I found some bad ones that can not run to their rated numbers.

Oh a shit power cord ie 18 gauge could have done it.

Here is a 1000 watt psu that does not run 2 at overclock of 393

 24/7/365

http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Fractal_Design/Newton_R3_1000W/

http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story&reid=339

great ratings but I killed two of them.  garage got hot on an 85 degree april day.  these both died.

but this one kept running

So My guess is a shit psu.  But just a guess.

Here is a thread on a dead s-1 which is now half good.

You kind of fit what happened to my psu's more then the dead s-1 thread above.
43334  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Black Arrow scam? on: May 09, 2014, 01:37:51 PM
ok. I ordered a 2000 Ghs unit back in November 2013 for (at the time) promised delivery by Feburary 28, 2014.  As everyone else who ordered from them knows, they delayed shipments by 3 months, with a new promised delivery of April 30, 2014.

It is now May 9th. And shipments haven't even started. So I sent them an email asking about my order. Here is my email. and their response.  You can see by their non-answer that they are clearly not even finished with production. I actually doubt that production has even started. I sent another email asking, and will post that response as well.

My email to them
**************************************
I have not yet received notice of my miner. This previous email said it was to be shipped out April 30. It is now May 8. Please update me of when I should expect to receive my unit.

Thank you.

I followed the link to their 'store'. And it is just a basic landing page.  Under 'products -> Asic Miners' they are selling the same unit (2000Ghs) for 'Batch 2' with a promised delivery of May 15. That is next week. They can't even say where in production Batch one is, but are trying to take people's money for Batch 2 already. Beware ordering anything from BlackArrow.

well you have been screwed ( I lost out myself) ,but they may send out gear.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=335145.0

this group buy will get the gear first.  I kept 5 of 12 shares.  so check this thread.

They will get it ahead of you.  I read it and I am thinking they (my little 5 shares and hundreds of others ) will hash by June 1st.

So you may as well check it to see if they ever pay out. If they don't  do that round they will (?) never  (?) do any others.
43335  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Reward FOR answers] 50TH S1 Farm on: May 09, 2014, 11:49:06 AM

But trust me, better go for larger machines in smaller quantities...  Wink

The long solid shelf you use make for a nice wind tunnel effect along with side by side for 10 or 12 miners.   those look like mdf so they won't allow heat to rise much

that setup could be improved using simple 20 inch box fans on the pull side venting much of the heat out of the building.

obviously I am trying to get the op to avoid/lower ac cost as much as possible.

you have close to 40 in that setup the op would need 5 to 7  racks like that.  his biggest problem with your setup is access to the gear. but with 200 plus s-'1 anything other then a line of lunch tables makes the same problem.

btw  if he gets some 1th machines it is less work.

Hey guys brand new user here... I had a couple of questions (my apologies if this is not the right forum to ask them on) about this miner as my brother and I will be picking up 8 soon... I will be honest I was very hesitant at first but after reading a few pages it seems like Bitmain is quite legit...

1) i assume we will need 8 PSU's for the miners - which ones are recommended - I do plan on OC'ing them after the 3 month warranty is up - is that wise or are there known issues after OC'ing these miners?

2) i planned on getting a simple metal wire shelf to prop them all on but am considering tossing them in cases - any recommendations? how many miners can fit in an individual case?

3) are there instructions to enable the wifi on it?

thanks in advance...

1) this psu runs 3 over clocked http://www.rakuten.com/prod/evga-supernova-1300-g2-1300w-power-supply-110-v-ac-220-v-ac-input/249973555.html
2)  depends on the case not that many setup in cases if you have a wide shelf it is better I will find a link

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=601245.0  a lot of good info here

3)Don't do wifi.  Very few success stories.  Not that you can't get it to work but that you need to hookup an antenna  many drop outs slower hash rate.    If you read the setup threads you will see very few people using the wifi.
43337  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy #5] ASIC chip design funded for the people to keep BTC decentralized on: May 09, 2014, 03:43:10 AM
Most gear comes out not a lot better then anyone else last piece of gear that was a true killer was the knc oct 2013  gear.

That's because you don't understand physics, how chip works and convertors.

I do not need to understand the physics of a chip.  I need to know what is costs to make and how big of an edge I get with it over other chips.  Dropping 1 million usd or 3000 btc to design a chip that does .3 watts does not make a lot of economic sense.  your sp30 chip does .46 watts.

If the asic chip laws of physics prevent a .03 to .05 watt chip.  and the minimum any asic will do is .2 watts.

then asic chip design  has become a dead end.    Some would think no but if we never do a new jump to far better then a .2 watt chip.  We will need flat growth or btc fiat growth to stay diverse.

Your new machine if it ends up being one of the best we ever get means a dozen cold weather super cloud companies in a country that has very good mining laws.

A good chip that could do 20 gh on a usb port pulling only 2.5 watts  would be helpful for diversity .   A great chip that could do 50 gh on a usb stick would allow the small miner to get back in the game.

Either  chip above with an anti chaining limit(2 chip max) would mean it has  be an usb hub.  right now You are most likely correct that it can't be done.

Thus BTC will die on the vine.  Where they are a few big companies and that is it.  Jan 1 ant miner  u-1's were hot.

To be a good deal a usb stick needs to be 20-50gh at 2.5 watts  since it is for usb.  nothing is close. at all zip.  So the entire usb stick mining  industry is dying.

People are getting s-1's  200-250 usd and a psu .  I have sold 20 and set up many of them.  8 buyers have all electric homes including the heat.  Big upside for diverse users all over the world.  A small heater that pays you back.

Well I wish the builders of the new chip luck as I have no skills to build one or design  one.
43338  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Reward FOR answers] 50TH S1 Farm on: May 09, 2014, 01:40:51 AM
kendog is correct that 400 amps does not  do  100k watts unless the power is 440 multi phase   but at 220 208 or 110 not enough power.

oh my last shot of  the six ants running

you want ant monitor  the monitor I am using  link

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=596178.msg6548589#msg6548589

but start small  maybe 15  or get 3 of the 16 port switches.

do 1 into 2.  check for latency issues   since 1 switch can do 15 switches giving you 200 plus ants.

feel free to ask me in a pm about setting up but frankly I am not a fan of the dells

mdude77 are you goin to offer selectable refresh rates?
I'd really like something in the 30-45 sec area as a choice.

I am.  As a matter of fact I'm working on it right now.

M

Thanks a choice would be nice.. so far works great in a windows 7 vm in my mac mini.

43340  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Reward FOR answers] 50TH S1 Farm on: May 09, 2014, 01:22:48 AM
Well 50th is not a toy farm

I wish I had a space to run 100 or so.

2  more  shots  four more  powered by an evga 1300 and a sea sonic 1000

these have the two fans  each.
One is  stock and the second is the delta running flat out.  you always want the pull fan running faster then the push fan.

they run loud but cool in the garage.
The  solid shelf with all four  stacked side by side with the double fan creates powerful wind tunnels. I did find there is a ton of heat above the row of s-1s a fan above would help to cool the gear down
