4341  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: how to write an ICO whitepaper? on: September 29, 2019, 10:13:42 AM
Maybe veering off-topic slightly, but there are a lot of scam projects about these days, and sometimes these can identified by their white papers.

White papers are obviously technical by nature, but at the same time they should be understandable and make sense. Sometimes with scam projects the white paper is just a mess of crypto buzzwords that is either vague enough to not really say anything, or makes outlandish claims that don't make any sense. And sometimes the white paper has parts copy/pasted from other white papers.

White papers should show clearly how the project is supposed to work, how it will develop and improve over time, and how it will generate money. If it doesn't do all of these to your satisfaction, then stay away.

As someone who previously checks every ANN thread and read the content of the WhitePapers (to check if its plagiarized), the team behind the project, the downloadable links, and the website, the WP is indeed one of the indicatives if the project is a scam or not.

Usually, legit projects contain WhitePapers that are over 30-40+ pages with references at the end. They provide all the essential details of their project including their mission, vision, and their goal by the years. Once you see a project without such elements, then it would be an indication that the project might be a scam.

4342  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling as a profession: there's people who live out of gambling? on: September 29, 2019, 09:51:03 AM
I think there are professional gamblers who live out of gambling but I’m not too sure though if that is the only job they have. I know a few people whom I think are professional gamblers but they do have businesses too aside from just gambling.

Some people are blinded by the fact that being a professional gambler is profitable. Don't get me wrong, but the number of professional gamblers out there COMPARED to the people who actually attempted to become one is significantly lowered.

Sometimes it all boils down on the luck, opportunity, and patience that determines the success of an individual. Even if you faithfully exercise those values, there is really no guarantee that it will lead you to a successful life.

As far as I know you can't classify the gambling as profession. The only way you can earn through this is that if you were the owner or you have huge amount of luck. Apparently, gambling is supposedly for entertainment not for profit due to the fact that you have a low chance of winning. But this is just my opinon, I haven't encounter any professional gambler so this is the only I can say regard this.

Well in fact, there are a number of professional gamblers especially in the poker field. There are even hosted tournaments around the world which is aired on television. Being a professional gambler also revolves around luck, like any gambling field. There is really no guarantee that one will become successful especially in a field where luck governs everything.
4343  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will happen after cryptocurrency on: September 29, 2019, 09:26:43 AM
Money changed its shape through the history. As from non-monetary exchange to the need of having money. Fast forward to our current banknotes which are in my opinion slowly dying with bitcoin taking over. Many discussions are being held if bitcoin can be the primary currency in the world. Let's assume it can be. Everything has an end so what do you think will come after bitcoin? What will money look like hundreds of years from now? I predict its gonna be digital of course but I'm interested if its going to be a cryptocurrency or something else.

Back in the days where the medium of exchange was through the barter system, it slowly evolved until countries decided to have a universal currency and its value is determined by the number of gold reserve the country respectively has.

Currently, cryptocurrency is being used as an alternative payment to some products/services to merchants. But people are misunderstanding the hidden potential of cryptocurrency- which is the blockchain itself. The system of fiat may still remain the same but what makes it different is the adoption of the blockchain into our daily transactions.

Change is inevitable. We can never predict the future of the next forms of money. Bitcoin is still beyond the beginning, there might be upgrades and some changes on its mechanism but I assume that it will take a very long time for it to be replace by a new platform. We are really seeing a revolutionary phase of money form right now.

People argue that the next phase of money would be towards the e-cash system (which cryptocurrencies are the medium used). But this would take a significantly amount of time until it becomes implemented due to the economic discrepancies among countries of different financial state.

4345  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Emotions; while betting, will you risk losing your fund to back your club? on: September 28, 2019, 06:49:12 AM
How do you balance the emotion of wanting your club to win but not ready to lose your bet in the toughest of games.

Oh this is actually tough... It actually depends if the gap between my favorite team and the opposing team is significantly large then I might consider betting on the latter.

To give you an actual example, in Dota 2, I used to love this specific team and I bet most of my resources in every game that they have. Despite having their roster change making them relatively weaker than their original form, I still bet on the team. But there was one instance where the stakes and gap were really large (at that time they were the number 7 team vs the number 1 team), so I did not hesitate to vote on the latter.
4346  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price Dropping - Are You Scared? on: September 28, 2019, 04:33:28 AM
So it would be good to ask people - Are You Scared or Worried? And what worries you? Or why are you confident?

Every time the price drops, I see it as an opportunity to purchase more for short-term investments. I withdrew them as soon as the cost of the initial price is higher than the selling price by at least 10-20%. With the volatility of bitcoin, this may depend upon external and internal factors but I usually cash them out 2-3 weeks from the date I purchased them.

Instances like these, people should view it in a positive light rather than taking it as a loss.

I am not afraid that the price of bitcoin continues to fall, while we are still using bitcoin, then bitcoin will continue to be valuable. Many people and myself still believe that bitcoin remains a profitable investment. The decline in the price of bitcoin is a common phenomenon that occurs every year. In the near future, BTC prices will again experience price increases. Because interest in buying and selling digital assets is increasing.

The Bitcoin price fall is healthy in a sense because we cannot see bitcoin to be always rising. We have seen last few months that bitcoin prices were stable above 10,000K and i think it was necessary for bitcoin to dump a bit and retest its previous support levels before making another big momentum.

What do you mean by 'healthy'? I find that the word volatile is suitable as the price cannot be predicted accurately. You would need to rely on data, news, and research before planning your next goal in this bearish market.
4347  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Paano kaya pag ma-hacked si Coins.Ph? on: September 28, 2019, 02:21:27 AM
Being the only local exchange in the country where 80-95% of the people use it as their wallet, people would lose their trust in exchanges and therefore contribute to the general stigma in cryptocurrency.

So para sakin, dapat talagang advance tayo mag-isip.

Naalala mo yung Binance hack? Millions of users ang gumagamit ng exchange na iyan and assume natin na may maximum security sila pero hindi pa din ito naiwasan yung $41 million na nawala.
4348  Economy / Economics / Re: CASHING OUT YOUR CRYPTO-CURRENCY PROFITS on: September 28, 2019, 01:42:34 AM
Hi everybody, I have a serious question to address:

How will you tell (or reveal) to your Bank that the huge daily (or weekly) deposits into your Bank Account are from crypto-currency profits?
- Would you go to your local Bank Branch and tell them ahead of time, that you are a crypto-currency investor BEFORE you make huge deposits?
- Would you go to your local Bank Branch and tell them that you are a crypto-currency investor AFTER you make huge deposits?

I personally know someone who trades cryptocurrency daily and he has a huge chunk of bitcoins inside his local wallet. When he tried to deposit the amounts directly to his bank, the bank called and questioned the origin of the money. Unfortunately, he had to do weekly trips to the US to clear his accounts and the ambiguities related to his deposits.

The issue regarding cryptocurrency is not itself, but the doubt where the money came from. Banks question this as the anonymity makes them doubtful that this may be a scheme of money laundering.

Making huge profits is bound to get you some unwanted attention and the banks may flag it and it may warrant some extra investigation, But if everything is done legally and you have every documents to support that the money was not made fraudullently and have paid all taxes involved, then i do believe that even when an investigation is opened you, they will find nothing wrong in the end.

They will literally question everything if you make huge chunks of deposits/withdrawals in a span of one day. This might pose a problem to traders and investors who focused more on the long-term aspect of realization of profits.
4349  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does Martingale strategy increase your chance of winning? on: September 28, 2019, 01:00:31 AM
<snip....>
Martingale strategy decreases your chance. Avoid it.

Do remember that whatever strategy that you employ, if you are dealing with odds then you cannot expect guaranteed and successful results.

In the Martingale strategy, I have personally witnessed people using the strategy but it will only work if you have the means and the capital to fund your every move. The problem with this strategy is if you continue your losing streak, the amount you will be betting will increase exponentially until it would be relatively impossible to bet.
My friends and my brother employ the same strategy and I see that they have mixed results depending on their night. Again, this would boil down to one's luck since gambling is all about luck!
4350  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are the dangers inside cryptocurrency investing on: September 28, 2019, 12:17:15 AM
The danger associated with investing in cryptocurrency would stem from the lack of security and guarantee of payments.

Unlike conventional and traditional methods of investing, your money is backed upon by security and collateral in case the investment fails. In stocks, you will always have the choice to cash out your investments based on trend, data, and research. Also be reminded that all of these are governed and managed by a company and regulated by laws.

In cryptocurrency, the returns may be relatively higher and faster but the risks associated is proportionate to the amount you invested. Meaning, there will be no guarantee and security that you'll receive your amount in case the market fails. There are already instances wherein people invested in bitcoin but its price plummeted to the ground.
4351  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online Cock Fighting on: September 26, 2019, 04:21:27 PM
As someone who grew up in a family who competes in cockfighting, this actually caught my attention which makes everything interesting!

Before the start of fight, people would usually bet on which side would win. Usually, the minimum bet (depending on the place) is around $10 and it could exceed more depending on the agreed amount. After the fight, the people you betted with would approach you (or vice versa) and ask for the money if you lost. But with an implementation of an online gambling system where you could use your resources, this would be much convenient for users.

This incident is not very old and just happened on August 5 this year and around 200 people were held by the police. According to the amendments, cockfighting is allowed on holidays like on Sundays and public holidays. If that is true than why they raid this cockfighting arena ?
Maybe because Aug 5th was Monday and the cockfighting was still going on there ?

This incident happened not so long ago and it is controversial.

Per PD449 cockfighting is allowed only on Sundays and some public holidays. That the basis of the raiding team, the PD449.

On part of the owner of the arena that is being raided they used the amendment of that PD449 as the basis on holding cockfight on Mondays as they secured permit from the local government. I think on the amendments we can see there that "local government can regulate the holding of a cockfighting". As i have said, this is a controversial incident.

Assuming that there is a local government code that regulates the holding of a cockfighting pit, that shall be binding to the parties. The special law (the local government code) will be an exception to the general law (PD449).
4352  Economy / Economics / Re: WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU HAVE A NASTY DIVORCE AND A FAT BTC WALLET? on: September 26, 2019, 09:41:07 AM
It depends on how your divorce proceedings went through and if you are willing to disclose all information with regard to all of your current assets.

At this point, it is not a question on how BIG are your current resources at but a question if whether or not you are a reasonable person who follows and abides the rules. This question would also be different if you were to have obligations with your payments, especially if you have a child to support.

Depends on whether your wife was good to you in your marriage or not and deserves to have some of it. I would probably not reveal it though, or maybe reveal a smaller wallet lol.

I think he/she should reveal regardless of the status of the marriage as it determines your attitude and liability as a person. If that were the case, I think we now know who is the reason for the cause of divorce....
4353  Local / Pilipinas / Re: [Digital asset act of 2019] umuusad na sa Senado on: September 25, 2019, 01:15:34 PM

Actually, my thesis adviser back in college is currently the head attorney of fintech sa pag-aayos ng cryptocurrency dito sa Pilipinas! He actually suggested and pitched this idea as our thesis regarding the acceptance of cryptocurrency in the country. Whenever nakikita mo mga IG stories niya, nasa Senate siya and may mga meetings na nangyayare about sa cryptocurrencies.

Hopefully mas lalo pang umusad pa yung act at maging bill na ito para mapunta na siya sa processo ng pagiging law in the future.
4354  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bakkt has traded only 7 BTC so far on: September 25, 2019, 04:15:00 AM
This was always the "moonshot bet" of the NYSE ownership, looks like an underwhelming start to Bakkt trading with only 7 BTC traded.

How will Wall Street react to Bitcoin-settled futures?

https://www.instagram.com/p/B2vLp43pI2A/

Like most of the exchanges, it will take some time that people would soon realize the relevance and innovation of Bakkt has provided. Although the initial stage is worse than expected, it is still early to conclude about its success. Also, do note that they offer an exchange where it involves real contracts, which no exchange has ever done. Give it some time and exposure until people realize the relevance of each transaction.

I think that it's too early to say that bakkt failed. In my opinion bakkt need a little bit more time and is long term bullish. But the fact that people expected a big price increase because of the launch of bakkt can be short term bearish due to the disappointing.

Concluding that Bakkt failed prematurely is hasty generalization and conclusion. It will require some time until the people realize the effects of its transactions. Most are still skeptical and doubtful on using the exchange but it is plainly normal for anyone to think that way. Again, give it some time!
4355  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which Online Casino has the Most Fun Games? Recommendations? on: September 25, 2019, 02:05:24 AM
I think rather than looking for a 'fun' casino, you should focus on the security, reputation, and customer service of a gambling website.

There may be thousands of gambling websites across the internet but only a few provide safety, security, and service compared to the others. Going back to the spirit of the question, I would advise that you consider gambling websites that involve e-sports. Although it may be boring (as the act itself), watching your favorite teams go hand-in-hand combat with others is sure fun!

Other notable gambling websites that have been around for years: FortuneJack, Bitsler, bustadice, etc.
4356  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is the best way to announce a new blockchain technology? on: September 24, 2019, 09:17:00 AM
What do you think "Is it right to announce the blockchain project right away? or better to post pre-announcement first before the main thread?

As someone who constantly checks the ANN thread of altcoins, I highly advise that before you post any announcement, make sure that you post all of the important details about your project including the WhitePaper, the website, the profile links of your team, and all other relevant information that would attract investors.

Like what was mentioned above, you also have the option of hiring a bounty manager in managing your affairs and if you plan on creating a signature campaign (for further exposure and advertising).
4357  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why hasn't any altcoin replaced bitcoin? on: September 23, 2019, 07:16:54 PM
<snip....>
What do you think?

Be reminded that the blockchain is what makes bitcoin valuable as it offers endless possibilities in the application of future transactions. One of the reasons on why bitcoin continues to dominate the cryptocurrency market is because of its price. There are hundreds and thousands of altcoins available in the market but no one comes near to the price of bitcoin.

Not to mention, the number of people who transact using bitcoin is significantly large, to the point that it attracted notice to the governments of different countries across the world.

You're right, why bitcoin can't be replaced with new altcoins like ethereum for example. why until now bitcoin is still the king of the crypto world ? is it possible because bitcoin have many users and is more trusted for an advantage in cryptocurrency?

You have answered your question with one of the most common reason why Bitcoin sits atop of all crypto.

Bitcoin is the mother of all crypto currency, and It took several years for it to be recognized and used as a currency for payment. There are already millions of Bitcoin in the circulation before the 2nd crypto currency was created. So, if you come to think of it why people choose to have Bitcoin in their bags rather any other altcoins, it is because Bitcoin has been used for payment long before all the alts in the market today, and thats what you call the mainstream acceptance.

The only way that I see an altcoin replacing bitcoin is when there is a massive prohibition on bitcoin SPECIFICALLY or if another altcoin surfaces and improves all the areas that bitcoin failed to meet. But I seriously doubt that this will happen anytime soon considering the number of users and the price of bitcoin in the market.
4358  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to stop taking high risks? on: September 23, 2019, 05:48:17 PM
Hey guys, I noticed that I always seek for high profit and point is that I still trade 25-50-100x. Then I lose deposit and then repeat once again.
Sometimes I gain a lot, like 10x and it gives me positive energy.

But I realise that trading with high leverage is a disaster. How to stop doing that?

You already know the outcome of high-risk trading and I see no other reasons on why you should continue given your experience.

High-risk trading may actually be considered as one of the methods of trading and I highly advise people to do such (given that they have the capital) but if you are on a streak of losing money with the same cycle repeating, then everything points to the sign that you should explore other options available. Trading and earning money is not about who quickly gets everything in the shortest amount of time (although preferably), it's about doing everything strategic.

4359  Economy / Economics / Re: Another good news for cryptocurrency in the Philippines on: September 23, 2019, 02:18:01 PM
Iloilo properties for sale accepts crypto as payment

These properties are owned by cryptocurrency proponents who believe that a conversation on making cryptocurrencies a viable payment option should start.

The owners are both cryptocurrency proponents, and told CoinGeek that they believe that a conversation towards seeing cryptocurrencies as a viable payment option should start.

The owners also said that another reason why they accepted cryptocurrency payments is because of their plan to have the proceeds from the sale of the properties allocated into a cryptocurrency investment.

Read more here: https://www.unblock.news/news/iloilo-properties-for-sale-accepts-crypto-as-payment

Anything that is related to cryptocurrency as being the medium of payment is good news, especially that the exposure of bitcoin can quickly materialized across the country.

Throughout the years, any electronic cash or money is branded as a scam and has been stigmatized due to recent scam attempts done. That is why, whenever you hear someone introducing a brand-new type of currency in the internet, the first thing that they would think is an another scheme with shenanigans along the way (this is the case here in the Philippines).

News that involve bitcoin being accepted as another option for payment can slowly eliminate this kind of stigma if people were to start accepting it more as a payment option.
4360  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: [DISCUSSION] Posting Interval at Burst Posting on: September 23, 2019, 01:22:24 PM
It actually depends kung paano ka mag construct ng post. Usually kase, kapag really constructed and on-point yung ginagawa mong post, pag-iisipan mo at mag-reresearch ka pa para may matulungan ka dito sa forum. Siguro around 10-20 minutes yun?
