441  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Anyone has luck in solo mining of altcoins so far? :) on: December 08, 2015, 12:19:16 AM
Maybe AEON is still worth it... could solo mine with CPU 2 months ago and find few blocks a day... dunno how it is nowadays.
442  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: (DASH) View private/public key in wallet.dat on: December 07, 2015, 10:29:54 PM
Maybe it is empty because it belongs to another coin? Thats the reason why i renamed all my wallet.dats when i backed them up

445  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: DASH Collapsing Monero UP on: November 15, 2015, 05:22:28 PM
The less scrutiny an algorithm has been under the more risk for vulnerability existing.

11 times whatever likelihood is still less likely than the 100% certainty of launching with an intentionally crippled miner. Unless you believe 11 times 10% risk is 110% risk for example.

Why are you trying to distract from the issue? The crippled miner issue was fixed quickly in Monero and with little effects, whereas the instamine 100% happened to the tune of 30% of current emissions and the algorithm issue is current and on going, and far as I know, has no plans of being changed.

illodin is just proving how naive he is ... i mean he was the guy Evan lied too about the launch time ( "can i go to sleep and will there be an ETA for launch" Evan : "yup... oh wait nvm it is launched" ... and he is still not mad lol... and defends it even though he said he lost his wallet....
446  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: November 14, 2015, 10:57:11 AM

This could help for the entry into the chinese market and further recognition in general.
447  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: DASH Collapsing Monero UP on: November 12, 2015, 04:06:19 PM
if i may be so 'noobish' but i never really understood what drove moneros price, its not anonymous and i dont think it can be mined so i am curious a to what is unique about it. clearly something is because its been around for a long time

How is it not anon and how it cannot be mined ? o.O
448  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: DASH Collapsing Monero UP on: November 09, 2015, 05:29:15 PM
@Illodin: I understand you are invested in this coin

For the record, I may have had some Dash in the past but I accidentally deleted my wallets. All of them. Shit happens.

If there only were cryptocurrencies that have mnemonic seeds to restore deleted wallets...
449  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [XMR] Monero - Marketing Team & Tactics on: November 08, 2015, 10:47:48 AM
Interesting thread, i only just now noticed who created it and why .. thanks for the info.

Specially these two threads i found particular interesting :

Monero Scam Allegations

Crippled from the start..

http://da-data.blogspot.nl/2014/08/minting-money-with-monero-and-cpu.html

Maybe its time Monero revises their "tactics" on this forum ...

If you post the Dave Andersen Blog... please atleast understand it and use your brain... k ? Wink

Here's his response--I didn't believe it, but he played it like a man caught and who was trying to pull one over (we do call you dashtards for a reason). And as long as we are handing out gullible cards, are you so gullible that you believe a dev would instamine 30% of a coin and it was accident? At least Oaxaca didn't try to spin the obvious when he got caught--he just brushed it off as if it wasn't a big deal. Maybe Evan could learn something.

Sorry but no one's gonna believe you, it was clearly a joke, and not an identity theft and desperate attempt to shove Monero down the throats of AA fans.

twaddling

Why are you throwing all kinds of arguments at me when your desperate claim that making the Satoshi joke was as sad and pathetic as stealing AA's identity and trying to use his authority to promote your coin failed?

Could you all stop behaving like a Kindergarten child? In fact as long as we dont know WHO was the AA imposer we can´t know his intention... if he was a supporter or a shill.
451  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 31, 2015, 09:42:41 PM
Ok guys, just bought my first big amount of XMR, couldn't ride the bitcoin train anymore and feel like this is the best price to buy in bulk... Even though it's not an astronomical amount that people like AP would consider "big", but it's pretty huge for me given my budget I'm working on.  Just thought I should share with my new found fam  Grin

Just imagine the people that scraped together enough $ to buy 500 or 1000 bitcoins back in the day thinking they didn't have much compared to the other guys.

Time both humbles us and exalts us all.  Both of us might lose our ass, but I feel this is a risk worth taking for me.  Even if I lose, I'll know I lost supporting something worthwhile.

Yeah, ever since I stumbled upon XMR and was introduced to it by people like you on the subreddit, I have been trying to scrape as much money as I can to put into XMR... I was honestly trying to ride the bitcoin train to accumulate as much as possible, but I honestly can't see it going any higher right now and feel like this is the best XMR/BTC ratio we'll see for sometime.  At least I hope so (lol).  I just don't see how XMR won't be a success... it's just too good.

Edit: Also, just curious, does poleniex calculate how much is being converted from bitcoin to XMR?  I have looked for my purchase earlier to see if it was on there, and it wasn't.

Regarding your edit, if I recall correctly you can analyze your trades somewhere and also calculate an average.

452  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash | First Anonymous Coin | Inventor of X11, DGW, Darksend and InstantX on: October 26, 2015, 10:31:43 AM
PoW is a lousy way to distribute the coins to any number than at most 100-1,000 holders. But it is flawed to think that market crashes work to this end either. I don't believe that the dilemma of distributing coins has been adequately solved yet, and I do believe that it is an important task to consider if a coins actually aims for global markets, or even a dominant position in them.

Auroracoin tried to distribute equal amounts to each citizen of Island. Whether that was a success is debatable.

Maybe after the totalitarianism has reached a peak and every human is carrying a tracking ID we can simply send the same amount of coins to everyone in the world. But then when everyone has the same amount, no one has the incentive to work for increasing the value of one's holdings.

Wrong... people will start to trade and thus the distribution will change and you are back to the people that have an incentive to increase the value. Free Markets will exist to the point till people can craft things/food with pure imagination.
453  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 08, 2015, 06:20:55 PM
Well then do the math for those guys about the Dev-Fee and what their real Output would be.... its 5% if i remember correctly...
454  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 04, 2015, 04:11:50 PM
I just bought some. Think will rebound to its proper price of 200-220K within the next 36 hours and stabilize there until the end of the year. Any speculation on the dip? It was certainly notable.

From action in the lending market it very much looks like a large amount of short selling, as noted earlier on this thread. That might be manipulative (trying to force margin calls on leveraged longs) or it could be people overreacting to the ZeroCash stuff, or something else.

Bytecoin, like Monero, has been selling off since the beginning of August (though at a faster rate), ever since that CoinTelegraph expose, so this might also be relevant.

I always had the thoughts, what if BCN guys got a little hedge in monero too .... since the 82%  of BCN coins they got for "free" would give them a freeroll, so they can either profit from it or hurt with a massive dump when they feel like it.

wooow there are 3 sherlock holmes here(but they don't have a proof). @americanpegasus, @onemorexmr and @opennux... congratulations  guys but you are all wrong Grin But it s ok for me coz I 've already knew that monero community don't have a brain hohoh Cheesy If i were you guys i would do something to save Monero fall instead of Trolling.

If I were you I would try to comprehend that one persons actions do not represent that of an entire community. I'm not trolling.

Yeah you are right. but XMR community have many trolls (icebreaker, smoothie etc.) . icebreaker and smoothie are embarrassment to the community. They dont help the XMR, they just fud other coins.
I don't mind any crypto currency besides Bitcoin. I am just a day trader. You have to put a collor on your legendary dogs.

if you don´t mind why are you arguing here?

ich kenne https://xmr.link/

hab das aber selbst noch nie ausprobiert, denke aber das sollte zuverlässig funktionieren.

Hatte ich schon komplett vom Radar verloren das jemand den Service damals aufgemacht hat

Well there be any support for CryptoNight-Lite for mining AEON

Also waiting for that

A guy just bet 13500 XMR on monerodice and lost  Shocked

His screenname is pretty apt too. Smiley

The key to keeping big rollers interested in these sites seems to be to not limit the trade size too drastically, which seems fine with the current settings.

Holy shit! That really sucks for that dude, as much as Monerodice is a great website, people reallllyyy should not be gambling.

Maybe he thought "Go Big or go into Dev-Fund" Cheesy
458  Local / Altcoins (Deutsch) / Re: [XMR] Monero - Deutscher Community Thread on: September 16, 2015, 08:34:20 PM

...
But they do care about btc, because they accept it. It does not matter for customers what they do with btc, if people pay with btc for vpn or email. The same it does not matter what they do with fiat if you pay by paypal.

But I think you might be right in one thing, i.e. exchanging crypto to fiat. This maybe a problem. Most secure vpn and emails providers are from europe, because well, you cant trust any service from usa due to spying and backdoors everywhere. Thus, most privacy focused providers, such as tutanota, zenmate, protonmail, ghostmail, lavamail, etc. are from europe. And exchanging monero to fiat might be not supported by exchanges they use to change btc to their local currency. Maybe they would have to go Monero->BTC->Fiat (on condition they their exchange even support monero), which only introduces additional and unnecessary transaction fee, as compared to BTC->Fiat.

Quite apart from the privacy / fungibility arguments in favor of Monero, if Bitcoin transactions do not confirm or become very expensive to confirm because of the 1 MB blocksize limit, merchants, payment processors and exchanges will be looking for alternatives to Bitcoin that do not have this problem.

As for transactions where the merchant or payment processor converts back to fiat, there is always a minimum holding time between the customer purchasing the crypto currency and the final conversion back to fiat that will increase the market value of the crypto currency.

Edit: I do agree that direct Monero - fiat exchanges will be a very significant plus for Monero

btw you did not answer your 1.) and 2.) question from 1 to 2 pages earlier... or did i miss it
460  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 11, 2015, 11:01:09 PM
I highly doubt that is why the price is where it is at.

His project is vaporware.

Remains to be seen.

XMR is real and exists today. Hence there is support for it.

I really enjoy anonyMint's (tptb_need_war) commentary on economics but I have learned not to believe anything until I see it.  That includes zerocash, ultimate anonymous vaporware, quantum prime cracking, etc.

Monero is the real deal and building up greater network effect every day.  If a better currency comes along, it still might not be enough to dethrone Monero.  For example, consider that we are obviously superior to bitcoin, and yet you don't see a mass exodus; instead you see bitcoin belieber's maintain that Monero isn't even necessary.

Dethrone Monero from what? No one cares or even heard about Monero apart from people on this forum, polo exchange and monero subreddit. And most people, like you wrote, seem to agree that nothing except bitcion is needed. This is really a shame. Especially if you consider that Monero aims at providing real privacy and anonymity, and none of the privacy oriented services (like vpn or secure email providers) supports it. You would think that such providers would be first in promoting private and anonymous ways of paying for their services and products, but not.

There must be a reason for it. Maybe monero is still too young and has small market cap, which hinders it adaptation. Maybe people are scared of non-gui wallets. Or maybe they just dont care as bitcoin is "good enough". Or maybe they just think monero is yet another scam-coin. I dont know.

And in the end they dont even care for BTC because they exchange right away for FIAT which is the only thing that counts for them and pays their servers.... if that thing changes we can talk about true acceptance of Cryptocurrencies.... in the meantime... no one should care if overstock or someone else accepts Bitcoin if they exchange right for fiat.... its the same as all those years... accept crypto and change for crypto... but crypto to fiat is not a thing that will make any cc more valueable.... i think the last year showed that and the decline of btc purchases
