441  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: EVGA Supernova 1600 G2 Powering 2 GPUS and their risers from a single GPU slot on: March 20, 2021, 10:05:19 AM
Hi folks,

I am wondering if it would be possible and safe enough to power 2 X RX580 Nitro+ 8GB cards and their risers form 1 GPU slot of the PSU.

This is the GPU
https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=120-G2-1600-X1

and as everyone knows the RX 580 Nitro+
https://www.sapphiretech.com/en/consumer/nitro-rx-580-8g-g5

Currently, i am powering every GPU and its riser with 1 GPU slot from the PSU - 1 cable that splits and powers the 8 pin connector of the GPU and the riser with 6 pin

I was reading here and there that it should be ok if the power is not exceeding 225 W .

On Phoenix miner it shows that every GPU draws between 90 and 105W (GPUs are bios modded undervolted etc...)

So 2 RX580 Nitro+ 8GB will need 210W max.

Another question is Phoenix miner showing the consumption of the GPU and the riser in total? Or is this only the GPU? As far as i know the risers can draw up to 75W power

Thanks
it should be okay for 2 polaris card if the card running at lowest voltage and mining only eth, riser only consume 15w, and every psu has different cable, sometimes its stronger or otherwise, sometimes its burn on connector if to overload like, my cables burned when i try same as this with 2 vegas, lol
442  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: are those splitters any good (amazon) ?... on: March 20, 2021, 09:58:38 AM
hi

i got those 6 to dual 8 pin pcie splitters....

it sounds oxy moron but am only gonna use them as 6 pin to dual 6 pin splitters to power TWO risers only per cable... are they find for such application ?...
https://www.amazon.ae/gp/product/B08YCX59QV/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

am asking coz they costed like 30 bucks and if they werent recommended ill just refund them i dont wanna burn my rig over them !...

thanks,
its normal price for 10 splitters, and its standar one, i use this maybe 4years and its quite good, try not using this more than 200w, sometimes the socket will burn if not perfectly connected to psu cable

443  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining question on: March 20, 2021, 09:54:58 AM
Can mining be considered a long-term investment? If Yes then drop your plan or reason why and if it's no don't hesitate to share why
thath depend on cost of electric in your country, 0.05$/kwh should be good for investment, especially using turbine for free electric will be make miner true machine money as long crypto mining still here and most likely will be here for long time, this for base price creation for every minting coin
444  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: molex to pwoer the risers on: March 19, 2021, 12:52:57 PM
hi

i bought this PSU
https://www.anandtech.com/show/10820/the-zalman-zm1200-ebt-1200w-psu-review/2

and it seems to run fine except the notorious issue of not having enough cables with many PSUs, i got 6x PCI cables and that was enough to run 2x 3060 ti and one dual pin 3070 and two risers !

i was thinking of using the molex cable since i got plenty to run the risers, my understanding risers use 75w ? is that consumed by the card or the riser itself Huh could it go more or less ??!??

what about using the molex cables isntead of PCI-E cables ??

i need a definitive asnwer regarding this please not just speculations !...

and of course am not gonna touch the sata cables !...

thanks,
the riser only consume around 15watt or less, and dont use molex to pcie, it will burn your cable, better to buy pcie spliter can handle up to 150w for safe long term use, or buying other pcie cable
445  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PC becomes Sluggish while Mining, how to solve it? on: March 19, 2021, 12:48:03 PM
I switched on my previous 5700 XT, and it worked just fine. Watching youtube, browsing webpages while mining is just smooth.
my new 6900xt can't do that, it's funny..and sad
lower your intensity, but many miner right know dont accomodate thats config, which is maximum intensity for max hashrate, try use different miner and there is ssd defect has same effect similiar with this
446  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ETH-Mining: is 4xGPU in one PC the same as 4 PCs with one GPU? on: March 19, 2021, 12:43:14 PM
thanks for the feedback. I was thinking strongly about going for one computer, but that needs to be fully purchased (cant use an open rig, must be a unobtrusive computer). But I have older computers on hand with i5, 8GB and 240GB SSD, Win10. I thought it should be fine also when I install one card per computer and save the hassle of buying a 1000W PSU, Big Tower for 8 height units, and a board that can house everything.
i mean thats wierd if you think using one gpu each pc for mining for saving buying 1k psu  Grin, if youre instaling each gpu at pc office with free electric thats the case....

closed case mean, youre using non riser motherboard which is quite expensive in some country
447  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Apart from mining on: March 18, 2021, 01:41:49 PM
Guys apart from mining can money be made through Node? I heard people talking about this and I don't know how it works, is it another way of mining? Is it as profitable? Any explanation will be helpful
there is pos coin aka staking, masternode and new days defi called apy farmer, those mechanic need sum coin to trigger it

but is risker than mining and less profitable in generic, sometimes is far more profitable than mining but mostly depend how the staking works, each coin has different method
448  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ETH network hashrate going to the moon!!!! on: March 18, 2021, 01:36:36 PM
the net hash holding back because massive silicon shortage in all cheap production make gpu & asic production pretty low and all gpu msrp already double up,

these happening are good luck for us as a miner, if production going full again surely massive nethash upward increase exponentially
449  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 65MH+ with 110W - Mining on RTX 3070 Laptop on: March 18, 2021, 01:30:39 PM
Looks like i have to switch to NVInspector to get more. Wink
Afterburner maxed out @0,7V RAM +1500

https://imgur.com/a/tFqciFt

What did you get?

check wattmeter, if gpuz showing 112w, it should be more than 150-180w the real power including all component in the laptop

mining on laptop isnt particulary big improvement efficiency over desktop card
450  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What will you do with you 4gb GPUs when you cannot mine ETH anymore? on: March 17, 2021, 12:46:40 PM
uhh i sold mine to gamer, and some gpu are artifacs cannot use for gaming but can mine some shitcoin, but i wont bother to use these gpu jump to jump other shitcoin when they only limited time for profit, to pain and to lazy for config  Cheesy
451  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Best Shitcoins to Mine? on: March 17, 2021, 12:43:52 PM
What are the best shitcoins to mine on GPU or processors that actually have a chance of being successful? Sorry if this has been asked many times before.
there is many shitcoin outhere and already listed on https://whattomine.com/ try calculate on this

yeah there is hidden shitcoin on the jungle in this community and there is potential to grow if the project quite unique, like pascal coin before then
452  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Using double power input with riser 009s on: March 17, 2021, 12:37:02 PM
Hello, I'm having problems in finding an answer to this question: can I use both of the 6 pin PCI-E connectors plugged at the same time? I'm asking that because I hope to have more voltage stability by doing that.
Thank you all!
lol  Grin youre doing is nothing will effect the stability, basically other 6 pin pcie is same source as the other one, so nothing happen if you using 2 power

but yeah if doing this make you more comfortable and believe make your gpu gain stability then do it hehe, but dont use pcie power from different psu
453  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: RX 580 with a lot of invalid shares on: March 16, 2021, 09:28:00 AM
Hi! I have an ATI RX 580 with Hynix GDDR5 memory. Im using it with Raveos to mine ETH and is losing about 25% of its shares. It worked fine for the first few days. I use a moded Bios and this setting:
Core Clock 1050
Memory Clock 1950
Core Volt 950
Memory Volt 950
Fan 50%
The current hashrate is 29 mhs and the temp is 57°. This is the exact model i have: https://www.sapphiretech.com/en/consumer/pulse-rx-580-8g-g5

Any ideas? I read about invalid shares and tried to lower the clocks (kind of randomly) with no success. Im kind of new so im learning about this stuff.
first dont use bios from other brand, just mod your own bios, then should be fine, using polaris bios editor should be easy, and lot of tutorial out there how to modding polaris card memory timing, you should try it for fun
454  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: AMD Instinct™ MI100 on: March 16, 2021, 09:18:31 AM
That looks like a monster:

Memory Size 32 GB
Memory Type (GPU) HBM2
Memory Interface 4096-bit
Memory Clock 1.2 GHz
Memory Bandwidth Up to 1228.8 GB/s

https://www.amd.com/en/products/server-accelerators/instinct-mi100?utm_source=pardot&utm_content=&utm_campaign=2020-11-17-commercial-server-mi100-launch-en-email&utm_medium=email&utm_term=btn
thats was profesionnal gpu architecture from vega 2 and became radeon 7 on gaming card, its rare card and pretty expensive, yeah for eth mining should be no.1

but not worth it even at gpu current price, sadly
455  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Free power solar panels on: March 16, 2021, 09:14:32 AM
Here in Belgium we had a turning back counter for the people who have solar panels.
Now they have abolished that so I have every day from 8 am to 6 pm in the spring and in the summer from 6 am to 10 pm about 1500/2000 watts of electricity in surplus
I thought I'd start mining.
I now have on my game pc nicehash OS running in the day.
Since I am a beginner (2 days) is it a good idea to invest a little more in a few GPU's or is it not worth it anymore?
it does not have to be a high amount, 100, 200 euros is more than 0 euros and the solar panels are there anyway

PS I also do not want to put 1000 euros in something I started 2 days ago, with time I can have more budget if there is more confidence

Thank you

total kw/day from solar if only 1.5-2kw so not worth it if you really depend only from solar, and the peak from solar only 5hr/day if you leaving alywas sunny like in texas lol

adding more solar and tied to grid more stable for running 24hrs mining, you need big battery for non-tied grid, try using some tools to calculate kw/day from your solar, its cheap only 30$
putting on rj45 mppt
456  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is it recommended to add ceramic tiles on the floor and also on the walls? on: March 15, 2021, 12:33:03 PM
Hi Bitcointalk community,

I am about to renovate my garage to install mining rigs. I read that it's recommended to install ceramic tiles on the walls. Is it because the heat of the mining rigs will eventually damage the gyprock on the walls?

Also I asked my building contractor to soundproof my walls and ceiling in my garage. He recommended me roxul wool or polyurethane foam. Do you know if it's good options to soundproof my garage ?

Thank you so much.
lol how the earth mining room will damage the wall?, ambient room wont reach above 50c, even hot from solar sun wont damage the wall,

yeah nice clean using ceramic all the way, easy to clean and low maintenance, soundproof more sense to me
457  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: REBTECH 8 GPU All-in-One Mining motherboard on: March 15, 2021, 12:28:34 PM
well this is was nice m.2 ssd with sodim ram + integrated cpu and small form factor same size as gpu, nice usb port riser, pretty convinience, saving lot of space

where do you buy this thing? how much?
458  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining rig cases with separate hot and cold air flow on: March 15, 2021, 12:23:09 PM
I've searched the forum but there's almost zero information about those. Does anyone have experience using ColdCase, Donnager, CoolBox or analogs? I live in tropics so keeping my cards both cool and dust/insects free is my target. With open rigs I have to weekly remove spider nets, dust, sand etc.
l live in tropics to, but keep from sand never heard of it  Cheesy, youre really in island middle of jungle or something? open case is easy for troubleshouting if something happen

i mean if your place lot of insect well there is no choice using non riser motherboard with closed case box, with dozen of fan, and make really noisy
459  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PCIE Multiplier on: March 14, 2021, 06:56:52 AM
Hello,

I have this motherboard and is working ok with 6 cards, but I have extra 5 cards and the prices of the motherboards that support 12/13 gpus are pretty high right now, so I bought an PCIE extension. The issue is that when I plug the risers in the multiplier, the cards are not detected, but if I plug an usb stick, it works fine. Is because of the motherboard?

MB:     https://rog.asus.com/uk/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-b250f-gaming-model/
PCIE Multiplier: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0855QY46F

Thanks
lol its pcie to usb 3.0 not pcie multiplier for pcie, you cannot use this for pcie riser, you're wrong bought this stuff, pcie multiplier quite expensive around 1/3 from mobo that has 12 pcie, so i think better you sell the mobo and buy new one with 12+ pcie and not causing any problem in the future
