We've successfully funded the African Well project with 1400VTC, this is a huge and wonderful achievement! It's bound to go in the press release we crowdfunded and get some great coverage for Vertcoin soon. The gradual slide of price is not a problem, the currency is inflating a lot still so that's not a big surprise to me. The Vertcoin community is also growing in size at a good pace. Relax and be patient.  |

Can counterparty only be used with bitcoin-QT? Because downloading the whole blockchain makes my old macbook go really really slow so I can't do it, which sadly rules me out as a counterparty user unless I can use a thin client.

I bought in yesterday and seems like a bad investment for now.
As far as I know the public test of the anonymity feature of DRK should begin today or tomorrow, if that goes well we could see a huge jump in price (between x10 x 100), if it goes badly I'd expect a drop. That feature is what this coin is all about and it is a major feature. Because of blackmarket exchanges or just the success of the coin? I was thinking initially there would be a big price increase just due to investors/speculators jumping on board to a coin with a potentially very useful feature. Any word on when the test is going ahead? |

Here's a probably impossible idea from a non-miner (myself):
Can it be made so the blockchain can detect which kind of mining devices are mining it and automatically re-distribute some of the GPU mined coins to CPU miners?

As far as I understand, once GPU mining is active it will instantly kill CPU mining and the majority would leave. The result is that mining gets more centralized - again, those who own GPU farms would rule. I don't see any advantages for the coin itself in this scenario.
Not if the devs make sure GPU are less than 4 times as fast as CPU I would like to see this stay as a CPU only coin. I don't know all the ins and outs of keeping it that way forever, but if GPU happens it happens. I can handle swapping over. But I do rather enjoy this coin as it is now. There is more competition I think. More people upgrade GPU vs CPU. This is the advantage to this I coin in my eyes. Once GPU starts to happen gamers and/or hoarders might start mining and out do the CPU miners. When it comes to power consumption on the GPUs, not everyone has a high rate and there are those that have power included in their rent. Doesn't CPU only mining create a botnet problem? |

I LOVE this coin. The coin name, the coin design, the devs, and the community! I feel this coin is really going places, and it already is! I have seen coins die when they implemented the gravity well, this went VERY smoothly with this coin, well done there! The BIG selling point as suck for this coin the the Anonymous features. One this is done and up, the coin can only go up! One thing though, I feel we need to get this coin established as THE Anonymous coin, before you make it open source, or another coin with even more PR / hype etc could just come up, OR another established coin could turn Anonymous ?... Just my 2 DarkCoins  Agreed! |

Whats the schedule for its implementation?
From what I gather from this thread is that there's been a successful 'proof of concept' and 'alpha' test and someone said the dev(s) are "very close to putting out a beta for the test network." But that's just what I've been told by someone in the thread I have no idea how trustworthy they are. How many Devs are working on this? Is it just the 1? |

The Mac wallet doesn't seem to work for me. I downloaded it and dragged into applications and double click to open but it immediately quits and says "Darkwallet unexpectedly quit". I try re-opening a few times but get the same message. I'm on Macos 10.6.8. Hope this can be fixed soon!

Can someone please explain the differences between Darkcoin and Anoncoin?
Anon coin is only for the tor network. Darkcoin should be anonymous on the internet full stop ('period' for my american friends) Anoncoin will use I2P and coin mix services to grant anonymous transactions. DarkCoin promise an "encrypted transaction network" and "coinjoin" technology for anonymous blockchain. For me booth approaches are not soo different. I would suggest that DarkCoin should use the TOR network to hide mining and transactions, since it is more reliable than i2p and much more mature. There is no point in reinventing the wheel, when reliable approaches exist. IMHO it would be great if the DarkCoin miner and wallet software implements or interacts tightly with TOR. So that each miner and wallet will be part of the TOR network, providing a TOR relay to strength the network and anonymity. I would suggest that all the cloud miners out there configure their VM's to be TOR relays while mining ... actually thats what i am doing. Thanks for the info. Any idea how long until Darkcoin anonymity features are up and running? Is there an ETA? |

Guys who would like to work on a PP presentation that puts together the most important things about 1) cryptos at all and 2) VTC ?
To bring this 270 pages thread down to the core points and visualize it in some nice manner could be very helpful to those who are new and want to have a fast and informative picture about this. I think it should somehow imply that this is a train you can still get on. Anybody up for discussion? Maybe a few guys in a new thread on vertcointalk.org? I'd definetely make use of such a presentation!
