I think I'll wait for the abridged version  Shocked

Now I know lots of you are going to get your panties in a bunch for me saying this but.....

Could you just post the straight unvarnished answers to the questions. I started reading your post, skipped the Ryanair nonsense then started on the novel that followed, I soon lost the will when I discovered it was another bitcoinorama circle jerk. High on vague assumptions, Low on facts.( Marcus is a perfectionist, living in a James bond lair........really?  Roll Eyes)

I appreciate you taking the time out to do this but sending the most Pro/biased/lobbyist for KNCminer on the forum probably wasn't a great idea if we wanted an objective opinion.  Also Bitcoinorams motivations are becoming clearer. He's angling for a job in the bitcoin industry, hopefully with KNC (PR maybe?)so take what he says with a large grain of salt.

Can we please have some facts rather than speculation, assumptions and wishful thinking. Some of us are still considering making this investment and could do with information sans rose tint and varnish.

And before you say it. I should go and do it myself. Believe me I will. I'm looking at purchasing multiple machines and have a couple of friends interested also. I won't be dropping any money utill I've thoroughly checked this out. I was hoping some fundamental questions would have be answered but as of today the are still holes you can drive a bus through.

Mate, if you read the first handful of lines, I stated I was getting down what I remembered off the top of my head whilst it's there. I also stated I was aware everyone was chomping at the bit for me to publish something sooner, rather than later. I also stated there is hours of recording and I asked every question that was asked of me and more. I asked them as they were written, regardless of whether they had been answered before, so I could give you the unadulterated opinion from the horses mouth. I also stated; 5) This keeps the actual Q&A clean and separate from my own opinion. So you can wait for me to drip feed the questions as I dedicate the time that I can afford (I do have a life), whilst that takes place it only made sense that I jotted down what I perceived to a fresh opinion having just been in attendance myself...

10 lines bro, you could have made it that far...

So, did you buy anything yet?

I see that you aren't reading everything related to KnC, but you always have a grudge against them (only you know why). He already stated that he bought a Jupiter.

my 'educated' guess is 1,000,000 Gh/sec at the end of September - see:

What do you think ? Critics welcome.

Please keep this thread on topic. There are other threads to discuss difficulty predictions!

4584  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Open letter to Theymos regarding Butterfly Labs (BFL) on: June 12, 2013, 09:36:30 AM
Yeah, 300 minus the missing ones from batch one, slowly some batch 2 dripping in. Batch 3, the $8800 ones, hahahaha. Say it again, how a $2499 single won't have a roi, but the $8800 avalon you will get someday, will?

How many jally's did BFL shipped?

I don't even want to start with the chip amounts that each company has sold...
How the fuck should I know that, want a guess? 500?
Chip amounts don't mean shit, sold GH does, so 300+600+600(?) x 66GH/unit = 99TH for Avalon,
For Bfl it is easier to count the chips and multiply by 4(GH) or 3, because sold units are unknown, so 70k chips x 4GH/chip = 280TH or 70k x 3GH/chip = 210TH,
Fill in what you expect in GH or TH for the loose chips on top of that for Avalon. BFL will probably sell the same TH on top as those 70k chips, as more units and loose chips. If you think Avalon will do better, whoopee, big deal. I think even my next units will be in my hands before Avalon's or BFL's loose sold chips will be build on boards.
So far everybody seems to be waiting, whether it is for their Avalons or their BFL units, same boat, different directions, I choose BFL.
Have a nice evening.

Are you really that stupid? Let me compare that again:
- UNITS: Avalon sold ~1200 units each having at least 66Ghash. They shipped around 400-450 (+- 100)  vs   BFL sold <70k units (variable hash rate from 5Ghash up). They shipped less than 100 and only the smallest units.  Avalon wins here.

- CHIPS: Avalon sold ~490000+ (that's 490 thousand) chips. They started to ship sample chips and soon will ship the actual chips   vs    BFL sold ~1000 chips(i may be wrong here). We will see when and IF will they ship them. Avalon wins again.

THashes doesn't matter. I'm talking about actual delivering stuff to people no matter the hash rate (ASIC only)

You may or may not get your units before Avalon's chips get soldered on the boards, but you are the only idiot who is still advertising a non-existing product.

Sorry, not a lie.  We did not have any plans to raise the prices at that time.  However, in light of our increased costs due to the power usage, we were forced to raise the price.

Is that for real ?
Next you're going to tell people who ordered minirigs that the power usage increase makes it impossible, after all?

So you can tell anything today, and tomorrow...
"Ooooh, look, the context have changed, so yesterday's truth is over, sorry. But I did not lie, since it was true yesterday."

You're very good, Josh, very, very good.
That was 9 months back dumbass. Which product, priced 9 months ago, after a major overhaul using twice the amount of original planned chips, twice the board size plus ditto casing and powerbrick, is still at it's original price setting?
The Avalon maybe? Oh yeah, that stayed unchanged, I mean, it was ripped of it's power supply, and went up 5 times it's original pricing wasn't it?

But Avalon is DELIVERING 66+Ghash while BFL still has PRE-ORDER for their 50Ghash unit after 1 year of development Smiley

Avalon's epeen>>>> BFL's epeen

how do I find again in which batch my order is?
TIA

Check OP and you have there all the link for the closed batch. Search for your bitcoin address in every batch.

890 machines or 890 people or 890 orders?

890 ppl ≃ 890 orders != 890 machines

> 890 machines

Great... Just hope that the majority was after you in the pre-order queue.  I am pretty sure that I am at the end of the list with a pre-order in the 1700s.  Sad

Just hope that manufacturing goes quickly as well as shipping...

I'll include one micro-usb cable per 16 boards, the stacking cable has to be bought separately though.
(But I recommend to just DIY, its easy)

Whats needed:
  • Power supply that provides 12V (Standard-ATX, Brick, other)
  • something that can run cgminer. (Computer, RaspPi, Wifi-Router, NAS, Laptop)
  • Stacking cable, if using more then 1 board
  • Cool place to put the boards, where no one runs into or steps on them (would hurt more then lego!)

I hope you will provide some kind of newbies tutorial on how to easy power and stack the boards for the less technical people around here Smiley

Thank you.

If anyone still wants to buy a pre-order with number <200 PM me. Only available for paid orders since the payment windows has closed. I can transfer my order number to your paid order.
4594  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KnCMiner Openday Wednesday 5th & Monday 10th June on: June 11, 2013, 09:40:00 AM

$5m seed funding when you're playing with 1 month mining + 2 month lead IRL ROIs. Prove the concept as soon as first hardware deploys = as much funding as you can take.

So now from $50m we are down to $5m? I'm still waiting for you to tell me how long would it take to actually mine $50m or even $5m. The numbers may be big now, but don't forget that until September there will be many many ASIC in the wild (avalon chips, MAYBE retards bfl, ASICMiner plan to deploy another 100TH, 100TH project, Bitfury and so on) so you can't actually make a good projection on how mining will be. Second of all nobody can predict the price. What's the use of xxxxxx bitcoins if the price is way lower than it is today. Why do you think none of the people who made ASIC raised the funds totally outside the bitcoin community? I think many thought about it, but actually doing so may be a lot harder that it seems.  If you think it's that easy go ahead and do it yourself. Find a good team of ASIC developers, find someone with money and start mining for yourself Smiley

If i understood correctly they aren't doing a full custom ASIC chip. They are doing a hard copy from a FPGA one and that seems to be a lot easier and a lot cheaper to do than a custom one.

P.S. of course they can run tomorrow with the money, but the probability is a lot smaller than BFL let's say.

Edit: TheSwede75 i know bitcoin it's the hottest thing, but comparing to any other real life business i still think that there are a lot more skeptics when it comes to this. What amount of money do you say it could be easily funded for a bitcoin business?
4595  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Open letter to Theymos regarding Butterfly Labs (BFL) on: June 11, 2013, 09:20:11 AM
Sorry, not a lie.  We did not have any plans to raise the prices at that time.  However, in light of our increased costs due to the power usage, we were forced to raise the price.  But you already knew that... or are you saying that you're unable to understand cause and effect, so you're just posting randomly?  It honestly wouldn't surprise me if you're unable to understand a simple concept like that, but I thought I'd check.

So go on, lets see you find a lie.  You've yet to produce a single shred of proof for your assertions.  I look forward to seeing you flail about further.

Wow! So because you were unable make a good assumption about the power usage you WERE FORCE to raise the price? Why is that? But maybe you already knew that your devices will consume so much power and decided to advertise a lower consumption at a lower price in order to attract more customers. By your logic everything is possible. Who forced you to raise the price due to the increased power usage? Sonny? God? The cleaning lady? Who? And how exactly were you forced? A gun to the head? A carrot in your ass?
4596  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KnCMiner Openday Wednesday 5th & Monday 10th June on: June 11, 2013, 12:39:09 AM
They said earlier that they would be keeping a close eye on hash/$ ratio during development. Does this mean that they might increase the hashing power of the machines closer to shipping if the difficulty increases too much or the price of btc drops significantly ?

Yes. they said that, if they have to do that in order to keep the products competetive, and profitable for us miners, they of course would.

What's really, really crucial to bear in mind though is time.

Marcus is a freakin' wizard, amd a perfectionist, but Sam is keen to reign him in w.r.t. time and not loose sight of that. The goal IS September. ANY delays and you will be given evidence of any issues with respect to third parties, this is the area for contention with BFL, why are they not giving this? They have more than one PCB fabricator on case of one letting them down. I went through multiple scenarios of weak links and impressively they had answers.

Their 28nm chip is relatively uncomplicated in comparison to what they have done in the past, but it has to work first time and well. They may revise it in future, Marcus has an itch to do just that, but they have a promise of September to fulfill.

There are multiple future tweaks on the cards, there may even be liquid cooling options for those not housing in data centres. Though you risk invalidating warranty with DIY OC'ing.

From an entrepreneurial standpoint what was your impression of the team? Do you feel more confident now that you have met them, what did/does your gut tell you?

Run for the hills or Mortgage the house?

My gut is saying run for the hills. Think, if you're a small team of clever, top end designers, why would you sell what so ever! You could raise $50m in a few weeks and build the biggest farm ever seen. Why sell ONE unit, they'd make - if their claims are true - 5-20x more by mining than selling.

What are you smoking there? Raise $50m in a few weeks? Big LOL! I don't know where you live but raising $50m in a few weeks in a world of recession in a very new domain like Bitcoin seems almost fantasy. Build the biggest farm ever seen? Again big LOL. Do you know the company ASICMiner and do you know how hard is for them to put online 100Thash? And this mining thing was being asked for 100 times on this forum. Why would KnCMiner start mining in order to get 25 bitcoins every 10-30 mins when they can sell the units and make instant money? Do you think mining makes instant money? Mining takes a lot of time and a lot of resources.(think of heat, power and appropriate cooling) They made more money with the preorders in a week than they could make by mining in 6 months.

Please tell me (if you can) how long would it take to mine bitcoins worth of $50m and then maybe you will think twice before speaking such absurdities.

I think I posted this before, but can you imagine in this super connected social media world if a prospect employer searches for Josh' name and find hundreds of people trolling at the guy for his ineptitude?
He better pray BFL does well because the only job he'll get besides BFL will be recycling electronic waste in a third world country!

Don't worry there are many more scammers around the world besides the convicted Sonny Vleisides that would need his services Smiley

If I ordered a minirig a year ago due to ship 8 months ago, how long will it take for you to acknowledge I've been ripped off ?

Maged ? Theymos ?

Can you answer at least the above quoted question, please, if you're unable to answer about the %age threshold of forum trust it takes to tag BFL as scammer (78% being not enough) ?

You haven't been scammed as long as you ask for a refund and you get it. So go ahead and ask for a refund. In my opinion you will NEVER get your Minirig. (i remember it as the 1500Ghash model. i may be wrong here)

Although I enjoy these little chats we have I really do wish you well as even though I hate what you have done (being untruthful or deceitful) and are doing I still feel for you as a person. I'm sure you will remember this for the rest of your life as it will carry with you in this field of work. Unless you take a different route of employment or you're a sociopath.

Please, by all means, demonstrate where I've been untruthful or deceitful.  No?  Why not?  Because it never happened.  You troll crew like to trot this out, but to date not a single one of you have been able to demonstrate any lies or deceit.

I think you could remember this. I should book mark this page as it would be easier to find for you the next time you need a reminder as to why we are upset with your company.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=114329.msg2139947#msg2139947

As for the trol accusations I have resisted in posting large quantities of thread on your forum. I'm not surprised that I should get that from you. I was your customer before and now I'm a troll? I used to defend your company and still do as for a vote on this thread and still I am a troll.

Are you taking the night off?

I've asked you to demonstrate where we've been deceitful or untruthful.  You keep claiming it, but you have yet to demonstrate this.  Therefore your are a troll.  Making mistakes and overestimations are not lies or deceit.  What you are doing, constantly claiming lies and deceit without any proof, is a lie.  You are being untruthful and deceitful.

And you are a retard!
