If I buy Next now will I receive Ardors?

Or solely those who held Next before July the 14th?

You will receive Ardor even you buy NXT on Ostober 11th.

Perfect. Thanks for the quick info. Just wanted to make sure that the truly the "average" holding counts within that time span.

Note, that later you buy, less ardor in percentage comparing to your NXT amount hold you'll get. There will be 2160 snapshots totally, 1/2160 snapshot every 60 block during 14 july- 12 october period.

as far as I understand, is just NXT 2.0 in the same way that Windows 8's new version is called Windows 10. Please do correct me if I am wrong in this, so far.

From the history of Windows I am familiar with: 95, 98, 2000, NT, XP, Vista, 7, 8 your understanding of Nxt 1.0 - Nxt 2.0 differences is completely off base. Is Windows 10 that much more different from 8 than 8 from 7 or XP?

That's hardly the point but yes, if you get to know the different versions of the system and depending of your usage of it, there are very significant differences between some of those, especially the most recent one. That was for illustrative purposes only though but since you bring it up maybe I should clarify it a bit more: If instead of calling it an asset-token-share, it would have been added to the set of tools already in NXT and called NXT 2.0, we will have exactly the same thing within just one name instead of 2? I hope the question is clearer now and easier to answer...

NXT 2.0/Ardor is completely new and fundamentally different type of blockhain, just using all present NXT 1.0 features on childchains. Using microsoft OS comaprison, I think its is DOS (NXT 1.0) and Windows (NXT 2.0/Ardor). Here is very rough and ugly infographics, explaining how it will look like:

Won't running another layer on top of NXT have issues in the performance of the platform if the usage will go higher and higher? Why not just develop Ardor's new features in NXT? I am sure it can be done.

Ardor is about childchains, it can not be done on top of present NXT, it's completely and fundamentally different. All NXT 1.0 features will be on the first childchain, while other childchain creators could choose which features from NXT 1.0 they need.

I never said differently. But that hardly changes the facts stated above.

Yes, we can state it as fact. So what? You can't change the history. BTW, there is 43K of account these days participating in snapshotting, so distribution improved a lot Smiley

But I was talking about your statement of: "I know the immense majority of the coins in existence, and 99% of those being forged, belong to the same small group of people?". Where did you get this 99% number?

the specific % is, obviously, impossible to know for certain and was offered as illustrative of the fact, that you know better than me, that the forging is some kind of lotto game in NXT in which the probabilities of forging increment exponentially with the amount of NXT forging. Giving that 70 at least, possibly 71 of the initial investors have not had the possibility of dumping not all but not even a small amount of their holdings in just over 2 years (not enough volume, sorry), it is evident that they still hold a gigantic amount of the initial distribution, in spite of those 43,000 accounts you mention, most of which were "play accounts", not real ones (and I guess you will be asking next how I know that, right?). Those amounts will achieve 99% -or more- of the forging in just the same way that, say 80% of the entries in a lottery would get 80% of the prizes... with time. In NXT case, since the probabilities of forging are incremental depending on the number of coins you have forging, the 99% probably, as I said, is conservative.

You asked.

Sure, forging directly depends of amount of NXT in account, that's how POS works. Do you see any flaw in it or don't know how POS is working? Have you ever checked www.nxtportal.com for live monitoring who and how much forge? There is some statistics, where you can see, that the biggest forger with 50M stake forge only 16% of blocks.

As for "play accounts": if they are included in snapshotting, then they are real created accounts with NXT>0 in them. How much are active? Nobody could say.

Is there a way to verify that a snapshot of our nxt accounts have been taken?
Click a node with OpenAPI on http://www.peerexplorer.com/nodes, and click Open Wallet GUI, Returning user, and enter you NXT address (not your passphrase). Then click on Ardor Distribution Status.

Thank you for the help!  Much appreciated Smiley  But why is my current balance only .08% of my expected balance?  Can anyone explain this?

Snapshot is calculated every 60 blocks and status updated every 720 blocks. There will be 2160 snapshots in total during snapshotting period, so current ardor balance is the 1/2160 of your NXT balance every 60 blocks, just status in client updates every 720 blocks. Hope this explains Smiley

I'll substitute "everyone" for "a lot of people" from now on then, since it makes such a difference to you. I'll keep using "everyone NEW", if you don't mind though, for that was, clearle, the purpose of the term in this instance.

Why would I start a new service that most coins in existence already have... just like I was led to believe here, NXT (reliably) had? Why would I be interested in doing anything at all for a project in which I am contemplating to or I am an investor when I know the immense majority of the coins in existence, and 99% of those being forged, belong to the same small group of people? That wouldn't be very smart on my part, would it?

Thank you for the suggestion but I prefer to limit my contributions to this forum and this forum only. In my experience (although I respect counter opinions) the more abundant the sources of the same knowledge the more confusing it becomes... which in the case of NXT, for it's own over-complexity, can be very daunting.

Do you have any proof of bolded statement? Any link or other source could help.

You have every proof of that in the pages of this very thread -and others about the subject- right here in bitcointalk. Just off the top of my head I believe the original owners of all the coins were 72 individuals and except for one most of them still own the bulk of the coins. Naturally distribution would be a bit better now, after 3 years, but ... If you are really interested, the information is on this very thread, for the most part.

Edit to add.- or in cached versions since now this thread is censored and more probably than not many inconvenient posts may have disappeared. It is common knowledge though in the crypto world. And, by the way, there was nothing claimed as scammy since it was up for sale, publicly, and available for peanuts to anyone interested. It just so happened that only those 72 people bought the lot.

Well, bitcointalk is not the source you could trust 100% Smiley To much fud and trolling here Smiley Blockchain is the source and blockchain never lies. Yes, it was 72 people bought in NXT at the begining and I was late 1 week to do so Smiley Maybe just people couldn't believe first POS could work, it was completely new approach, and didn't participate in ICO. It was free for anybody to participate.

Maybe you can start new service like Mynxt by yourself and make it better? And please, don't use words like "everyone", as a lot of people know that it is third party service and is run voluntary by respected devs, thank you. The browser wallet still unreachable and the page "under maintenance". For several days.

Amateur hour...

My browser & desktop wallets work fine - although I'm running NRS 1.8.3....

Update to 1.9.2 at https://nxtforum.org/nrs-releases/nrs-v1-9-2/

just wondering why NXT price keep coming down, instead of boom up due buying for ardor

Perhaps people don't read. Since the snapshot is an average over 3 months they bought, saw snapshot, then sold no realizing they need to hold for the 3 months.

idk, just a guess.

IDK i was reading this and am unsure to make sense from it.
I assume all my NXT ive currently held will give me ths same amount of ardor, but if i purchase some NXT and place it in my account today, i ma not get the 100% same amount of ardor?

Is this correct? Since its an average, i can only assume that the longer i keep it, the more ardor i will get.
But if i dump my NXT right at the end of the snapshot period, i assume i will still get some ardor?

That's correct

Well, funny to see how NXT price will react after the snapshot period. Wink

Don't forget about second snapshotting of your nxt in account for FNX (first childchain token) Smiley ATM ratio is 1:0.5, but if devs will find funding, this ratio could be 1:1.
476  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NXT] Nxt - Official Thread on: July 08, 2016, 07:59:35 PM
Looking, good, one question, is there still going to be the forging token issued on top of the ardor token?

No, Ardor will be forging token of the main chain.
477  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ARDR] Ardor, or Nxt 2.0, a Scalable Child Chain Platform on: June 20, 2016, 07:28:15 AM
Does the value of Assets in an account count toward the snapshot or just the amount of free Nxt in the account balance?

No, value in assets does not count, only balance of NXT in account.

What is about the supernet Asset. A lot of users thought that the Supernet Asset was build to support the newest Ideas of NXT.
Now, the biggest and newest Idea is presented and Supernet wouldn't be mentioned. Or did i miss something?

Supernet has it's own roadmap.

That would be good and hardly moderated, to get rid off kids. Around 1000 pages here, I think 900 of them are about nothing, real information is lost Smiley

your body needs more  "real" information from sasha!!! cool!!
