462  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: February 25, 2024, 03:49:32 PM
EFL Cup final match Chelsea vs Liverpool

Current standings in Premier League left many points from the top position, seems Chelsea have been over for winning premier league this season and EFL Cup is the realistic trophy for Chelsea.
Few hours later will face Liverpool is the top primer league standings awhile and seems difficult to predict with Chelsea has more motivate for winning the last opportunity with trophy this season and other side Liverpool on the top position won't losses their chance with EFL Cup trophy although its not really excited trophy for top team. If Chelsea is able to win the EFL Cup, this will be the first trophy for Pochettino in the first season, even though in the domestic league it is a little difficult for Chelsea to be in the big four this season.

Who will be the winner of EFL Cup between Chelsea or Liverpool? pick your prediction and which team has strong possibilities for winning EFL Cup.
Chelsea have no hope of winning the Premier League title this season considering their points, while Liverpool have hope of winning the Premier League title as they are the team topping the League right now.

Chelsea management will be happy if Pochettino and Chelsea players can be able to win this trophy because Chelsea Management have spent a lot of money on signing players, if they win the EFL cup, Pochentino will have more hope on his future at Chelsea because he is yet to be stabled and his performance is not yet appreciable.

With the team both of them displayed, it is a fair team formation and anyone can win the match. Liverpool have a lot of injured players which might affect them today and even in the Premier League, ss Chelsea have advantage to win the game same as Liverpool.
I think Chelsea will win this match though they have lost like 5 finals against Liverpool in recent years now but I think today will be different else Poch will get more heat from the fans and management.

Liverpool has been doing excellently well even with their injuries struggles while Chelsea still faces injuries woes but because of their squad depth, we can say Chelsea have higher advantage especially now that There have been consistently in both defence and midfield in recent matches.

Both teams has been playing well though Chelsea has been possessing but Liverpool are getting back after making a substitution were Gomez came in for Gravenberch while Chelsea have a goal from Sterling ruled out by offside, Gakpo header hits the woodwork

leonair, already shown this, but base on the security log my plausible guess is :
The Icefrag account was hacked or bought for the purpose of selling smerits or to be resold, which now has been use to sell smerits since the password changed occur earlier last year before going to sleep and  now woke up again. I Think is the reason the Icefrag account didn't try to get into campaign or become active at least since last year.

Though also the account might be connected and is being used to make those members of this forum altcoin discussions who are still naive to think that the project is legit since Icefrag who is an hero member is still supporting the project. In the end they are trying to control naive people to invest in their scam project

465  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: Emergency funds is vital. on: February 24, 2024, 05:27:02 AM
So all you got to do is to increase your emergency funds percentage to be able to keep up with your expenses, so that you won't endup running to withdraw your investment. Because it can't be tempting most time to withdraw your investment just to cover some expenses mostly when it come to desperate measure. So is better to increase emergency funds than to keep on running to your investment, so that you can be able to secure a nice and healthy investing during your accumulation of bitcoin.
Op God bless you for this, I was actually thinking of making a post about this since we were having alot of post about investing in Bitcoin with few post about this in our local board.

In order not to be pushed to the wall of having no choice than selling your bitcoin investment especially when the buying price is lower than the selling price.
I know majority of us here use DCA strategies in accumulating our bitcoin but we have to be cautious that we keep a reasonable amount of money as emergency funds to avoid ever being tempted to sell our investment because bitcoin investment are met to be HODL till it yield the ROI that we aim, that is what those who have inspired us to invest in bitcoin did and are still doing, even no matter the dip in price

Here is a scenario were having a low emergency funds is bad, imagine after using majority of your funds to invest in bitcoin and now the price dip though we know already all we have to do is HODL since we know it will move higher with time and so the best thing to do after the dip would have been buying the dip even with an increase funds which may likely would have come from the emergency funds since we may not be able to cut expenses from our upkeep money while sometimes at that point in time you may really be in need for money and then sell your bitcoin at a lost.

But since our naira is depreciating I would advise keeping our emergency funds in USD, EURO or any fiat currency doing well against naira

467  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Anatsa Android malware downloaded 150,000 times via Google Play on: February 23, 2024, 08:44:47 AM
These apps were created in such a way that Google play store wasn't able to identify, if it was actually malicious but after this issue was reported, the app's have been deleted from play store but still yet thousands of users have installed it earlier.
Google Play Store malware detecting algorithms are outdated and hackers know about that. That's why they have been able to add the malicious code easily without much problems. I think Google should improve their algorithms so in future all such applications with malware should be detected during the submission time. That way users can be safe from all such malware, in fact it's better to download only applications of the reputed vendors.
Majority of Android users don't know this, their belief is If it is in play store or if it recommended by Google it is safe but we know this is definitely far from it.

I'm using Android but I haven't experienced some malware and spyware yet with my phone I always keep updating the security update on Samsung to make sure I have the most up-to-date data from the server and have Kaspersky antivirus.

If you are randomly downloading some apps on your phone you can be also one to fall to this trojan malware.
So people should be careful in installing any apps if they use their phone with some banking apps or crypto wallets only use them for that purpose if you are going to install other apps not related to financial(Bank or crypto) use other phones to avoid such malware.
If you read this : https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/anatsa-android-malware-downloaded-150-000-times-via-google-play
You will see Samsung is not an exception but I believe what have been keeping free from all these are the security measures you practice because when it comes to privacy and security we ought to responsibly cautious and not put our trust solely on any services.

Some things to note about this
  • Not all apps from trusted sources are good, because this is actually not the first time such Malicious apps have been found on Google and since hackers are creative and innovative they will always find ways to exploit any services with different schemes and so we have to be cautious.

It is good that Google identified these malicious apps and brought them down. Let me add that it is better to download apps from the original website of the developer it might help reduce the chances of downloading these malicious apps.

This was discovered by ThreatFabric researchers and this is not the first time an Anatsa banking Trojan has been found on playstore. Don't forget that Original website may redirect individuals to playstore but the main thing here is downloading a credible app for any services since there are many apps offering same services and some are malicious. In the end is just you rightly separating the sheeps from the Wolves .

Phone Cleaner - File Explorer (com.volabs.androidcleaner)
Phone Cleaner: File Explorer (com.appiclouds.phonecleaner)
Do people really download these? AFAIK, most android phones have their built in cleaners and there's no need to download one. There's also the defragmentation which is enough to adjust and prolly clean some from the storage. I do understand if people are downloading pdf readers and viewers but the manufacturers should start to have them built in or most of them probably have because I can read PDF files without having the need to download these apps. It's what people need to do, explore their own smartphones without having the need to download anything since the feature they need was already built in on their phones.
These two apps might be installed by those who usually have that feeling that something is eating up their storage and they may be thinking this app may be helpful to them, while though most of newer Android phones comes with this apps default but not everyone may like the UI or UX of such apps in the device and so will try to download app offering such service.

Out of those 150k times, most of them probably 70-80k are downloaded via their own google accounts using Bot scripts. They are also used to provide fake ratings to the app, also making it appear in some search suggestions due to the bot views/likes. Sad for those who already fell for such a scam. I mean it might be possible to catch these scammers, a company like Google can.
Bot scripts are now so common for every hackers and scammers to use than paying others for download and ratings. Yes it maybe possible for Google though but I doubt they see it as an issue since this is not the first time such malware is found in playstore.

468  Other / Beginners & Help / Anatsa Android malware downloaded 150,000 times via Google Play on: February 22, 2024, 04:58:45 PM
Anatsa is a banking Trojan malware which has the ability to steal banking credentials, log keystrokes and steal sensitive data from victims devices. It acts like a Remote Access Trojan (RAT) and gives the attacker the leverage to remotely control the malware in that device to carry out other attacks.

The Anatsa malware has been targeting Android users mainly across Europe, through malware droppers (this is a small program that assist in installing malware on device) hosted on Google play store.

Researchers at fraud detection company ThreatFabric noticed an increase of Anatsa activity since November, with at least 150,000 infections.

Each attack wave focuses on specific geographic regions and employs dropper apps crafted to reach the “Top New Free” categories on Google Play, lending them credibility and increasing the success rate.

The five malicious apps are:
Phone Cleaner - File Explorer (com.volabs.androidcleaner)
PDF Viewer - File Explorer (com.xolab.fileexplorer)
PDF Reader - Viewer & Editor (com.jumbodub.fileexplorerpdfviewer)
Phone Cleaner: File Explorer (com.appiclouds.phonecleaner)
PDF Reader: File Manager (com.tragisoap.fileandpdfmanager)

These apps were created in such a way that Google play store wasn't able to identify, if it was actually malicious but after this issue was reported, the app's have been deleted from play store but still yet thousands of users have installed it earlier.

Some things to note about this
  • Not all apps from trusted sources are good, because this is actually not the first time such Malicious apps have been found on Google and since hackers are creative and innovative they will always find ways to exploit any services with different schemes and so we have to be cautious.
  • Check reviews and ratings before installing any application
  • Be highly cautious of the kind of permission control you give to any application once they are installed or updated

469  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: FG benefiting from dollar rise against naira, Ndume alleges on: February 22, 2024, 03:05:32 PM
The government have been benefitting from the naira devaluation and acting hypocritical blaming p2p exchanges and the BDC, as if majority of us cannot discern right and wrong now.

Good thing that the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) are not acting weak this time until their needs are met, though the government paid 2 out of 3 months palliatives remaining in the palliatives they promised them earlier this week but that has not stopped them to continue with the strike, which as it stands is inevitable since most of their needs especially the minimum wage has not been met

“The EFCC and the CBN should move against these platforms trying to manipulate our national currency to Ground Zero. Crypto should be banned in our country or else this bleeding of our currency will continue unabated.”

This is over dramatic after lifting CBN banned in crypto in January, now the president aide is speaking of banning crypto again(though I don't really know the extent of this ban). While this has never been the reason for the devaluation of naira since the price of naira to usdt in Binance has always been different in comparison with CBN rate for years now which was before his tenure and nobody has ever blame this anytime naira lost its value to dollar.
There can only fool a few Nigerian with this their nonsense claims while they know the actual step to take in order to make things better but sadly they won't since they are highly benefiting from the naira devaluation. Anyway no matter what cryptocurrency adoption rate will continue to grow significantly in Nigeria.

your bets guys... will 50k hold over the next 3 days?

I'd say we'll dip below

Will 53k hold for the next 3 days?

I'd say it's iffy.

will we stay under 55,555 in the next 5 days.

I say it is a 50-50 chance  Wink

The way I see it, we will either bounce off of 49.6k or 47.5k but we will be sub 50k probably for a short while.
It's ok, though. Bitcoin was pumping really hard so it needs a breather.

Poor lil fella's all tuckered out.

It needed to reload. The next leg up takes us to test the all time high. We’ll all be exhausted with calls from friends and family, not to mention seeing Bitcoin articles plastered all over the internet. It’s good we’re getting this chance to catch our breath before the fireworks start shooting. Take advantage and get your bags ready to go.
Literally, I don't think this is time for dip, halving is a still in a month plus but majority will HODL since we all have the belief that bitcoin will hit ATH before halving.

While I think during halving bitcoin will get to around $30k - $35k and then after halving, up up and away, probably within this year to before mid next year $100k  Grin

476  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Why Security first before acquiring bitcoin on: February 20, 2024, 05:34:19 AM
you  also need to use hardware wallet to secure your private keys,
The thing be say hardware wallet na offline wallet, so your keys go dey offline and if e dey offline e mean say e go dey hard for attacker to get am, but you go fit still fuck up if you dey use hardware wallet, and that is if you go lost your seed phrase wey you back up, or if another eyes go see am. Mind you say you fit also turn your electrum wallet to offline wallet and that one na if you get old device wey you no dey use, you fit turn am to airgapped device and e go dey keep your keys offline for you.
The Airgapped device is good but it requires some technical skills to set up, there is are also risk of the device being damaged but if you properly backed up your seed phrase then it's all good and even for the hardware wallet itself, if you do not backup your seed phrase properly and then you lost or damaged it then your bitcoin can be recovered. You have to be disciplined in keeping them safe since they are physical entity, though they are offline but you still have to be cautious how you use them, device you might be connecting to them might include malware which hackers may use to steal your coins

Quote
Bitcoin security is so strong
You no lie say Bitcoin network dey secure oh, but the thing be say, na you go secure the Bitcoin wey dey your own wallet.
Cryptocurrency nor be for everybody if you know say you nor fit keep your coin safe and secure nor just invest for am bcos theft go collect am for you and even if you nor dey responsible tel protect your bitcoin and choose other investment, you still need responsibility and son in the end na for you to dey responsible or nor just invest at all.

478  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Receiving a smart contract to my wallet on: February 19, 2024, 10:36:11 PM
If I will create a new wallet on my Trust wallet app,
then move my funds from my old wallet to the new wallet and accept the contract call on my old wallet, will the new wallet can be at risk somehow? or this smart contact script can only affect the wallet which got it?

If it might risk any wallet , I will install metamask and move my funds there

Question is how deep a smart contract call might go? wallet level/app level/my entire device level???
Creating a new wallet address in your trust wallet and using for the contract call, still have a chance of affecting your other wallet address and that's depending on the type of contract you are accepting and if the guy have a malicious intention then this might be bad and so it's better to avoid this whole process than taking the risk.

Moving your coin to metamask seems like a better plan but I hope you're not going to import the seed phrase from your trust wallet there with this your coins are saved if you the sender have malicious intent. But I would have advised you to sign the contract using the new wallet address you are going to have in your metamask than moving your coins there since it will save you transaction fees charges and also if received alot from your trust wallet then this would be better since some people might not be aware of this changes and transfer coins to you in that address.

After signing the contract, you can revoke it later: https://www.altcoinbuzz.io/reviews/wallet/how-to-revoke-smart-contracts-on-trust-wallet-and-why-its-important/
479  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Why you might miss out on the bull run while holding on: February 19, 2024, 01:10:08 PM
Unfortunately many will still fall victim of this but at least Thank God it will be fewer than what we saw in the last bull run when bitcoin hit a ATH 2021.
Alot of Nigerian investors invested in meme coins just because they were aiming for the next Shiba inu while some of these tokens like Baby doge, Wakanda Inu, Freecoin, Safemoon and the likes where hype by influencers to reach a dollar someday but in the end now, most are no were to be found  and alot of us lost from it. While some of these tokens were created to scam investors just like we saw with Wakanda Inu.

What affect most investors decisions in investing all they have in bitcoin is the fact that they still think that they have missed it already and choose these coin instead but In the end, one way or another, the price of the coin/token falls drastically and the chances of altcoins getting to another ATH after bearish season are lower than bitcoin, which has done this continually.

The best cryptocurrency investment is to buy and Hodl bitcoin which do not require you to start big but just for you to choose a DCA strategy that's suitable for you.

Another thing that kills those who invest in meme coins and tokens are greed with the false belief that they would someday worth a dollar for one and then they will become millionaires which in the end made them lost everything

₿𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚: Banks sent regulators a letter asking to make holding bitcoin easier.
Source Link

I noticed a post on social media today that banks have sent a letter to customers, making it easier to hold bitcoins, which will strengthen investor sentiment.

Not me wondering if there is any other better way to HODL bitcoin rather than to use a good non custodian wallet.

I literally didn't get what they were saying through this bill but I was able to get better understanding of it, through this https://cointelegraph.com/news/big-banks-push-sec-change-crypto-accounting-bitcoin-etf-action
As it seems to the US banks are now jealous and what to be among the ETF custodian, even the bank prefer bitcoin to fiat, now we can say everybody wants bitcoin
