461  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: PayPal hand to hand with Cryptos on: December 08, 2022, 09:36:38 PM
Paypal has been doing this for years already as they realized the demand for crypto and adopting it might benefit them a lot. Paypal is doing things slowly but surely and focusing in one area with a great demand for crypto is a good strategy. This is a good development from Paypal and hopefully they’ll also introduce this to many countries and make things more possible, this is a good news for every Paypal users.
This is a great time to begin testing some new ideas and ventures in cryptocurrency for existing establishments that have shown interest for a long time, and Paypal is a great name to lead this effort. Moreover, Luxembourg is also a small community to have a financial institution of this type, and I hope they can establish a long-term partnership in this area.
462  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: African bitcointalk community hangout on: December 07, 2022, 10:26:46 PM
Hello I am new to this thread. I live in London not Africa but crypto is  a global movement and I believe it has more potential for good or harm in Africa than anywhere else.

https://cryptostar.money/country/world/africa/ lists 185 crypto businesses in Africa.

It is my website and welcome any advice or feedback you can give me.
What are your dream in cryptocurrency? What can you do differently in UK with cryptocurrency?
463  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Polygon (MATIC) to $20? on: December 07, 2022, 01:57:59 PM
When the dip comes traders will be looking at many coins, and I came across this comparison. However, the challenging part was what polygon described doing with the money.  It makes it difficult to make a decision if there is no clarity about the coin.

In terms of funding, Polygon has received more than 130 million more than Solana

People are paid to use the chain and acquire companies by Polygon with this money

As for Solana, it uses it to improve the technology and build the community

465  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: what are the disadvantages of paper wallet on: December 06, 2022, 09:47:55 PM
Also, it is not going to be easy if you're going to have a lot of transactions, you could just use web wallets or something like coinbase when you just want to have fun and wanted to buy some cryptocurrency,
Even if you are going to spend your bitcoin every day, it's not recommended to use web wallets.
Most web wallets are custodial and even the most popular web wallet, blockchain.com which gives you access to your keys is still close source and vulnerable to hacks. You can use electrum for your daily transactions.
For a daily use of crypocurrency, trading and safety, will you rate electrum wallet ahead of high integrity centralised exchanges?
466  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA 2022 world cup on: December 05, 2022, 08:43:09 PM
So far, I have seen the underdogs taking some whopping in this world cup. I see a really tough encounter between Spain and Morocco tomorrow with my bet on the Moroccan team. I know the Spanish side is quite formidable, but Morocco had been hot in the tournament and I see them frustrating to a greater effect, the efforts of the Spanish side.
It is also funny how the three lions made a 3 nil mark on the serenga lions of Senegal. It was quite unexpected but not beyond my surprise. All African teams need to really revisit their playing patterns and work on developing world class players for future tournaments.
In the match between Morocco vs Spain tomorrow, it seems like there will be many who will be confused, Morocco is one of the underdogs and is the only team from the African continent that will compete against one of the favorites to win. but looking at their chances of winning, I'm sure Spain will come out victorious.
Spain has the history of been beaten by an African team in the past, so no record will be broken by their defeat. The style of play will be similar to the style of Spanish soccer in terms of dribbling skills and passing, the experience and strength of Morroco will make a difference tomorrow, but the Spanish coach might help in the long run.
467  Economy / Economics / Re: Can A Redesign of A Countries Currency Note Improve Its Economy? on: December 05, 2022, 06:55:10 PM
Yeah the Nigerian government made this decision to combat the high rate of counterfeit money in circulation and also to combat hoarding, it turns out most of the corrupt politicians are hoarding tons of naira notes for their selfish interests instead injecting it in the economy for growth.
This sudden decision by the government to change the notes forced majority to bring out these notes they have safely hoard in strategic locations. It is sudden but a good decision. Like you said, it something that should be done in every new administration.
The idea may look good but there are some disturbing pattern in the process.
1. There was no consensus on the process among financial personnel, it was all between the Governor and the president, which is considered inappropriate.
2. Some view the decision as a witch hunt against those who denied him the opportunity to run for president on the same basis that the same governor expressed interest in the presidency, who should be investigated.
3. A similar redesign was done 40 years ago when the president approved it, which cannot be attributed to any changes in the currency's value.
4. In view of the fact that the redesign of the naira is very expensive and the country makes complaints about the state of its economy, why the decision now?
468  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAM ALRET! hoo.com Scammed and deleted Their website 😭 on: December 04, 2022, 10:01:26 PM
Except for very few or top exchanges with ratings on trust and relationship with first world countries government, holding any coins be it stable coin is very dangeorus. Try a secure full custodial wallets and try more decentralized exchanges for trading. Until Government start proscuting scammers in the space to attract sanity, confidence and safety
469  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Fake coingecko site please beware! on: December 04, 2022, 05:04:05 PM
The website is meant to scam people, the main home page
https://couingecko.click/ has nothing on it
What I know as home page is https://www.coingecko.com/ not the one you mentioned.
Google Play Store also has a Coingecko app with more features than the website; https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.coingecko.coingeckoapp&hl=en&gl=US

Nigerian crypto exchange Quidax lays off 25% of its staff

So I am reading that Quidax, a Nigerian Crypto exchange has laid off 25% of its staff. They blamed it on the economic downturn. I cannot say if it the economic downturn of Nigeria or the global economic downturn. But something at the back of my mind is telling me that there is more to this than meet the eyes. They have said that it has no relation with the FTX but I doubt. Did the long bear run affect them? Did they spend too much on BBN sponsorship and other ambassadorial deals? What do you think?
A cryptocurrency exchange requires a lot of discipline, and there are no repercussions as far as I know on the scam allegations of most exchange owners.  Despite the fact that security is very expensive to manage, exchanges have proven to be the most successful undertaking in crypto. There is usually a terrible bear market for the team when exchanges mismanage or misappropiate funds from bull markets.
471  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is the Ukraine War a Money Laundering Scheme? on: December 03, 2022, 06:16:46 PM

Ukraine used FTX to convert all the donations it received into fiat currency.  Donations.  Not investments.  That's the end of the story.
I would like to know why anyone would want to launder money into Ukraine? What will they gain from moving the fund there. Regardless of the means used, I can understand the transfer of weapons into a war zone. Hryvnia has fallen badly in the last year, why would a money launder convert to a plummeting coin when he can deal directly in dollars? Hryvnia does not have enough liquidity for transactions in dollars
472  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Binance: $BNB The Future of Exchanges. on: December 01, 2022, 08:50:35 AM

Source; Coin analytics
Binance show 78% growth in the number of account/addresses in the last 11 month of the year. Matic could be the next big thing in the next market and I hope they improve with the number of exchanges (CEX and DEX) and project listed on the blockchain. I see Binance beating bitcoin with lower percentage of dump in this market

474  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Should I invest in cryptocurrency or start my business? on: November 30, 2022, 09:36:49 PM
Every decision has consequences and I think you need look at it very well. The decision to invest in cryptocurrency should not be sentiment but very rational, base on good and enough information. If you want business, do business and if it is crypto, do it but out of sound understanding of what you are getting into. The risk is very high and the reward is also high but it is important not to put all your egg in a basket, especially with cryptocurrency. For whatever reason for a volatile market invesment always have a business to fall back to
475  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Nigeria continuous banning of crypto on: November 30, 2022, 03:43:02 PM
Which ban are you people talking about? is it the ban as a result end sars protest in 2020. It is all political and we have moved past it, although many indigenous P2P exchange had closed, like Luna and have not come back. I suspect a scam exit to steal some platform users fund. However, Binance has improved his service in Nigeria so well, even have staff on ground in the country. The type of investments and awareness is so massive that I dont see any indigenous P2P exchange competing again. Lets just look into the future with cryptocurrency and see how the country can benefit from it
476  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What will be the next crypto craze? on: November 29, 2022, 08:58:19 PM
I'm sensing that it's going to be that "proof of reserve" thing. These exchanges can make money from that thing and they'll just make it broader this time for which the investors will have to invest into something or anything that comes from them.

But whatever it is. What I'm sure of is when the dumping time comes again or the worst, the bear, they'll surely be forgotten again and the market will come up again with another craze.
If you look at the Binance proof of reserve using Bitcoin, do you think start-up coins can have the same trust benefits as bitcoin?
The exchanges are the most powerful platforms in the space, won't they be able to detect the peak of the pump? It is my expectation that they will have enough information on onchain analysis to prevent a loss
477  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I will support Elon Musk if he creates a stablecoin for Twitter on: November 29, 2022, 05:28:13 PM
I don't see Elon Musk creating a coin for Twitter; neither does Mark Zuckerberg. However, both will continue to support bitcoin, cryptocurrency ideas, and other coins like they did in the last cycle. Due to Elon's business relationship with cryptocurrency investors as well as his ownership of a good portion of Twitter, it is possible the app will continue to support cryptocurrency. The company can also support or invest in a startup so he can make an early exit like he did. They believe and understand other low risk business and may not gamble too much money on volatile crypto market
478  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are stablecoins safe? on: November 28, 2022, 08:11:38 PM
If your country has cryptocurrency legislation, then you can safely store Tether (USDT) and USD Coin (USDC) bought on the exchange, because these are the most common stablecoins. But the issuer can block your coins. Most of my savings are in DAI, because for now it is a reliable decentralized stablecoin, but I will not give you guarantees that this will not change in the future.
With an exception to other interests, I do not find DAI's choice and its reasoning credible. DAI is similar to Terrausd, that the coin value does not depend on a specific amount of money held in a bank or high-rate asset. BUSD stable Coin team holds over 2 billion dollars worth of bitcoin as of today, which appears to be a reliable source of funds and backup.
479  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA 2022 world cup on: November 28, 2022, 04:16:54 PM
Germany and Spain made it a very nice match. On that basis, they both deserved a draw. Spain took a 1-0 lead, but Germany saw a goal disallowed for offside at the end of the game. There were chances back and forth, it was a very open game. With this result, Spain could even be eliminated in the final round, although they have a very good goal difference, but in theory they could lose to Japan. Great performance by both teams in the last match in summary today.
Spain did not play very well in this match, Spain played a very good game in the first match. But in this match Spain vs Germany, Spain played a very bad game. Spain made a lot of fouls and got 1 yellow cards in this match. This match was a draw. It's really unbelievable.  Kari. This match was very hard fought but neither team managed to score over the other.
I can't agree with that Spain did not play well in that match cause if you see the match stats then you will see that Spain is ahead in most cases like position, passes , pass accuracy But it is true that Spain scored less than Germany in shots, shots on target but I think Spain performed better than Germany in that match even though the match ended in a draw.
If you watch Greece in Euro 2004, you will understand football tactics. You look at the quality and strength of your team to your advantage. At the knockout stages, football possession will not count, scoring goals will  Spanish team uses the ability to dribble and get around the pocket to engage passing the ball like in Barcelona, a team with player that can run will absorb the pressure and use counter attack. The more clinical a team is in front of goal matters a lot irrespective of the playing style.
480  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA 2022 world cup on: November 27, 2022, 11:54:58 PM
If Spain can retain bisquet in their team and Croatia use modric , why can't Germany still use kross in this tournament. It is not necessary he starts all games but he could start the game in the tournament and help midfield players in his role but coaches are so sentimental lately and Germany are likely to go home early in this world cup. As a result of the low level of preparedness, the favorite teams might be surprised in the group stage
