481  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: {BFL} TigerDirect is making a BIG MISTAKE partnering up with Butterfly Labs! on: January 25, 2014, 02:29:12 AM
BFL aside, I think this is pretty excellent.  Overstock and TigerDirect taking Bitcoin?  We've been waiting for events like this.
Very true and I hear your point but come on why have butterfly Labs a partner.
Voted for the least reliable ASIC company to buy from.

BUTTERFLY LABs - 284 (75.9%)
Because, despite the results of the forum poll, they are still the most recognizable, approachable ASIC producing company in the business.  Cointerra may be able to steal that crown, but none of the other companies look corporate enough.

Sorry, the BFL bashing is a bit of a dead horse for me.  I'm trying to focus on making positive progress forward, and this is progress.

aw i see your point but it sound like you never bought anything from BFL and thats gooooood for you but BFL/josh owes everyone (BFL customers) for not delivering on time but good for you bro Smiley

Thing is, if TD does start selling BFL products, they would have to take the refund/return policy off of them and just only allow for warranty repairs. Imagine this, a customer buys 100 monarchs and returns it after 29 days, then they will have mined at 600TH/s for 29 days worth of BTC FOR FREE! Then, after they return it, they just buy 100 again and rinse and repeat.

Edit: Lol, I just checked out the mining profit estimator, 600TH/s breaks even after 2 days and then makes 3 million in one month LOL.

interesting Smiley

Tell me about it... I was on my merry little way to TigerDirect to order a full tower case, then I stumbled upon it and I just raged quit.

bro, I couldn't believe it when I saw it but TigerDirect will see why butterfly labs is the least reliable ASIC company.

All we can do is email tiger direct and let them know they are hurting their own reputation by selling products from scammers.

I already did and I posted it on twitter to.

acouple more lies from your boy Josh:

Monarch Information-hangman.jpg
 No noose is good noose?

Maybe so! No word from the packaging facility as of yet, which means there's no problems. That's good. That's really all the update I have, as the status of things hasn't changed much since last week - just waiting on slicing/dicing/packaging. While we expect the chips out sooner, the end of next week is the absolute latest date the packaging facility gave us on chips, so it's unlikely it would be any longer than that, but hopefully shorter. The fact that they haven't come back to us with any problems at this stage is encouraging and indicates things are running smoothly on their end, as they'd be burning up the phone lines if there was an issue.

One a slightly related note, I should have the draft of the Monarch communication protocol (detailing how to communicate with it over PCIe and over USB) in the next couple days, which I will post here once I'm satisfied with the draft. At that time, you guys can pick it apart and we'll see about making revision.

500  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Who here already pre-ordered the Monarch 28 nm Bitcoin mining card ??? on: January 22, 2014, 01:01:44 AM

a GPU with all this tubing etc. Clearly they don't get it and they don't understand where the next thing in mining is. They have chosen wrong. Very wrong. Also they don't include the psu's and the mobo you are going to need to do these in any sort of density. $$$ tis gonna cost you a lot more time as well setting these up and tweaking. Too much time.

These will all use USB cables for 99% of the 'lucky' owners - and will be a terrible mostrosity. It is amazing the poor design that BFL chose and stuck with. An honest man in thier shoes right now would go: "shit, we are behind schedule and our design is horrendous and matches no form-factor at all. Let's re-design this a a square, 4-chip board so that it can be stacked or encased easily and provide 2x the hashing power to our customers who have waited all this time"

But nope, these things are gonna take up 5 PCI slots with a big heavy radiator/pump, require host computers and be delivered astoundingly late to customers

You two really have no idea what you're talking about, do you? heh... it's like watching two toddlers trying to be part of an adult conversation.  It really is.
