There is not such thing as investing in an ALT. It's gambling at best.

The large majority of the alts will die within 3 month. Looks at the cemetery of the alts, coins like ZET, WDC, TRC, FTC are strugguling but they all fail in the end.

DOGE might bounce a little here and there, maybe even come back at 200 one day, but in one year time, its value will be around 50 satoshis max.

Sorry but it is the truth.

Well whomever it is, they chose BTER to head to the exit. They may have received better pricing on the DEX...I guess they're in a hurry to buy some more AUR?

That's my guess, a big shareholder that want to exit. Some have already exited during last week on poloniex.

Problem is that on the DEX, if you want to sell XCP, you have to wait for the buyer to make a btcpay, or sell for XBTC but the orderbook is not filled enough to sell big stacks (a bummer since I tired it today and it was working perfectly, both the XBTC/XCP and XBTC/BTC. Maxmint fee of 1% is fainally not so much when you realize that everyhting is backed by the BTC blockchain)

Lol, some noobs don't understand shallow markets yet Wink

Check the transactions of this address : 17QGXdQEgjvjVR6h66u1bPKVMHKiVFqiy9

They may be genuine transactions but XCPs are regularly transferred to this address from burn addresses and then to exchanges

Must be someone who burned alot. I don't see anything fishy.

busoni, you need to shut down Poloniex now and try to make your users whole from your own funds and debt. Do not continue trying to run an exchange. Your post mortem indicates that you do not have sufficient programming ability to handle other peoples money - no mention was even made of database transactions, which are a basic "database programming 101" topic. Your proposed fix of checking for negative balances is wrong and indicates that your code is almost certainly riddled with other exploitable bugs.

Please do the right thing and refund everyones outstanding balances, then wind up your operation.

This comment was from Mike Hearn, senior developer at google.

And yes mike is right.  The developer of Poloniex have no knowledge about database transactions and handle code in multithreaded environment.

Indeed. Poloniex is probably a disaster waiting to happen. All the honesty and hard work of busoni won't change that fact.

He was already warned with the XCP bug exploit and didn't learned the lesson, although he had his get out of jail free card by being was reimbursed of the stolen BTC.

The only question here is : Will the confiscated BTC be repaid before the next disaster ?

Sorry only asked as Busoni was active on here for a while and question was related to xcp, wrote a ticket instead

Maybe you can go back and de-pollute the thread

To wash the bad taste out of all of our mouths left by halfcab heres an update to JahPowerBits GUI.
Keep in mind this is a mockup and certain elements/fonts will or have been changed. There are certain elements like the bottom footer bar that have yet to be completed.

This is one of two additional themes (so far) that will be included in the final version and is included as thanks for donation from one of our users. Once he okays the design I will be finishing it and including it in the GUI.
It is titled: Flyway

Remember if you want your own theme included you can donate to JahPowerBits development fund and request any theme style you can think of. You can send me descriptions, links, pictures, etc to get your idea across.
Thanks everyone!

Very nice, and I plan to donate too, but just one question: will all those themes make the final app installer huge? Or are they pretty light?

I'm not a big fan of the theme. The background is really ... meh. And you strange logos should be an a sperate page, it looks like a crackers group release instead of a serious "coin"

Look at what they did for the Masterchest Wallet. I don't say you should copy it but it's way simplier with clean fonts (no fancy scifi fonts like you used. Try to stick to fonts like the popular helvetica neue or some open source fonts.)

I'm "sort of" graphic designer. If you cant I can make quick drafts for a layout that could be cleaner, would it be useful for you ? I could design a custom minimalist skin. I have no idea however of the type of docs you need (png images ? how to divide?) PM me if thik I can help.

Thanks for the work anyway !

Guys, calm down.

Busoni is probably monitoring everything manually right now and has proven to be an honest person.

Your deposits are safe. Your withdrawals too. Personally I've waited 3 days to get a XCP withdraw and he finally kept his word. Just let the man handle the rush (AFAIK he's sleeping right now)

No need to whine here like a french girl every 10m, no need to sumbit a shitload of tickets.

JUST BE PATIENT
493  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCP] Counterparty Protocol, Client and Coin (built on Bitcoin) - Official on: March 07, 2014, 11:57:46 AM
Yes, it simplifies trading on the DEX and allows you to avoid the need to btcpay and avoids troll orders.

There is however an additional step to then cash back out to BTC if you didn't want to continue to hold XBTC. You send your XBTC to:

13sGFVPgcrj9mMRokyXztdAJtg6kReofdV

And you will 'automatically' get BTC. The service isn't fully automated yet and maxmint is performing the exchange at a fee of 1%. When the automatic service is live the fee will be 0.1%

For example:

Code:
counterpartyd send --source SOURCEADDRESS --destination 13sGFVPgcrj9mMRokyXztdAJtg6kReofdV --quantity 0.1 --asset XBTC

This is a centralized way to trade, right?

Obtaining XBTC is centralized (even when it is automated, it will still be centralized). But XBTC greatly increases the ease of and simplifies trading on the DEX.

Ok, I've got a question about BTC/XBTC/XCP

Why don't you put a permanent sell order of 1000 XBTC for BTC (to begin with) at 1/1 rate. This could decentralized the BTC -> XBTC process. Of course to get your BTC back, you can put a but order at 1/0.99 rate, and maxmint (or another from the XBTC team) agrees to provide liquidity and process (btcpay) them all, and he gets his % that way ?

Maybe this is a trollable system ?
494  Economy / Securities / Re: [HAVELOCK] PETAMINE 700 TH/s or 8.68 GH/s per share on: March 07, 2014, 11:29:56 AM
I was talking about "thin dividend" as last week one was actually the sum of 2 weeks.

We currently have a little more than 28btc (https://blockchain.info/address/1PETAmNrgdzx3FwzJPNuhx18JVKdGtwWt6) mined.
From Eligius the avg is 8.45btc per day, so I would assume tomorrow we could reach 36 or 42btc.
I'll assume that the hosting cost would be the same at 8.14btc (like last week).

This gives us a net of ~28 (or ~34) btc.

65% for dividend would be 0.000266 (or 0.000275) per share.
Last paid dividend was 0.00040211

(no bitching around or nothing, just estimate math)

and yes, I'm not counting the 1.8btc from NMC (I never seen anywhere that we would mine NMC as well... good enough, I'll not turn down additional profit).

We are really late in the payout queue. If you look at the payout graph we should have 29 BTC more.

That give us around 60 BTC, 55 after expenses (only one week's expense here), 35.75 after reinvest share -> 0.00044314153 /share

I don't understand clearly how the payout queue works but it's clear IMO that we are 29 BTC late.

I was having a look at an order match. I'm not sure why it wasn't 100% filled.

Code:
Give 0.085 XBTC get 10 XCP
sqlite> select * from orders where tx_index=5265;
5265|667f1bfb97499e9450c81d9bf0c8914442938a634e6d22b74ee0f5a0dd2dd86c|289101|1G38xjStnniS5Pjh2jryQeCMisu1EwnjYe|XBTC|8500000|1|XCP|1000000000|118|1440|290541|0|0|10000|10000|valid

Give 10 XCP get 0.085 XBTC
sqlite> select * from orders where tx_index=5281;
5281|5317f9078208edc792db754bc3085c52364d8a5a5eb4fd3df05cfbe0ada4d2ba|289287|1xXCPxBC7kRkkYnTeS4ARk3YYwLF5Y5QT|XCP|1000000000|118|XBTC|8500000|1|240|289527|0|0|10000|10000|valid

Order match
sqlite> select * from order_matches where tx1_index=5281;
667f1bfb97499e9450c81d9bf0c8914442938a634e6d22b74ee0f5a0dd2dd86c5317f9078208edc792db754bc3085c52364d8a5a5eb4fd3df05cfbe0ada4d2ba|5265|667f1bfb97499e9450c81d9bf0c8914442938a634e6d22b74ee0f5a0dd2dd86c|1G38xjStnniS5Pjh2jryQeCMisu1EwnjYe|5281|5317f9078208edc792db754bc3085c52364d8a5a5eb4fd3df05cfbe0ada4d2ba|1xXCPxBC7kRkkYnTeS4ARk3YYwLF5Y5QT|XBTC|8499999|XCP|999999882|289101|289287|1440|240|289297|completed

Isn't that the rounding error i've heard about ?

On a side note, it's nice to see a trade (the first?) with XBTC !!

Maybe blockscan should add BTC/XBTC market to see if we can buy XBTCs directly from the DEX and at what price.
496  Economy / Securities / Re: [HAVELOCK] PETAMINE 700 TH/s or 8.68 GH/s per share on: March 06, 2014, 09:12:45 PM
Thank you CryptyX for the frequent updates !

I was a bit annoyed by all the grumpy guys squatting the htread and I'm happy to see that you are working hard to keep the pace.

Shareholders should realize that delays from chip manufacturers affect everyone and not just PETA. Total network hash rate has somewhat stagnated over the past week as evidenced in the following chart:

https://blockchain.info/charts/hash-rate

you got a better view here : http://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty

It's ramping up again but the next increase will be around 10% IHMO.

Will my XCP's be visible on my wallet as XCP's? With Mastercoins they are hidden (Until March 15) except of a 0.00006BTC notice.

You can check an XCP balance here http://blockscan.com/

WTF NXT needs to be on another exchange ? Add MSC or XCP, they deserve it and they're not yet enough represented.
499  Economy / Securities / Re: [CANNABIT] Investment Details - Announcement & Discussion Thread #cannabit on: March 05, 2014, 09:34:29 AM
As far as a distributing shares through a decentralized exchange method that is definitely something we will consider as soon as it is ready. We want to  make sure we don't have any issues with a centralized exchange as we have all experienced and seen last year as well as the past few months. As soon as a tested platform is ready and there are no bugs or issues we will move over to that right away.

You should look into Counterparty /XCP that has already a decentralized exchange in place. Dividend distribution is working too.
