If you have an Antminer S1, and you're comfortable with Linux, then this is the ultimate guide for you from user tiktoc:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=162788.0

The initial setup may take 1-2 hours, but after that, setting up a new coin should be straight-forward which takes about 5 minutes (well, setting up a new coin needs to build the coin daemon from source, and the Mini 9 is a netbook with only an Atom processor, so that takes about 40 minutes to build on mine).

The git source for carpediemcoind is missing a file   on the src/leveldb/   which I copied from another coin src/leveldb/

Good luck.

I used Ubuntu 12.10 server.  Don't install LAMP.  mysql conflicts with sqlite which is what the stratum application utilizes.

Excellent. I've bookmarked it and will give it a try sometime soon when I have a little time.  Thanks!

Ahh...  I setup a stratum server on a Dell Mini 9 netbook, but that's because the Antminer S1 requires it.  If your device doesn't require a stratum server, you can probably setup your wallet as a server and connect to it using RPC port.  Check out another coin on as a sample config (ie  Chikun KUN or stashcoin) and change settings are necessary for your setup.  Dunno too much more than that as I don't use it.

You'll need a carpediemcoin.conf to contain the settings...

Good luck.

Oh, OK. That's what I'm looking for. I'll see if I can get it set up on one of my Linux miners or the Windows one if that doesn't work. Looks fairly straightforward.  Thanks.

The problem is, with this fast block time, its hard for the server to keep up, we urgently need more pools to level/load balance everything

I just switched over to eminer.pl and I'm barely getting any discards at all, so the problem seems to be with your site specifically. Maybe the overload issue?

Got to avoid thinking about how many millions I must've lost as a result.  Not blaming you, just... Sad

Some of you may want to solo mine. I am solo mining with 2.5TH/s no problem. Finding blocks just the same as I do in pools. Then you will not have to deal with lost coins and breakdowns etc... The dif is super low right now..... Smiley

Not sure what hardware you're using, but I'm using an Antminer I just got. Solo mining is straightforward with a computer, but I was looking for instructions late last night on how to set a standalone device like the Antminer to solo mine, but didn't have a lot of luck.

Thought I'd figured it out last night (running the wallet on a PC in server mode then connecting to the IP address of the PC) but it didn't connect. It was kind of late when I tried it, so maybe I missed something obvious because I was pretty tired.

If you have a link to a good solo mining guide for a standalone device like an Antminer, I'd appreciate it.

Yes, I hope you guys hold on to them!!

Day 1 is almost complete. We are about 3/4 of the way to the first reward halving at Block 10,800 - CARPE DIEM AND MINE TODAY!!

I've been mining on your pool since a few minutes after you opened it last night. Any idea why I've been getting 2-3 times as many discarded as accepted?

I've still mined a lot, but it makes me wonder how much more I would have if not for the high discard rate. Been getting very few rejects as usual, but have never seen so many discards.

Probably orphans. It's a small price to pay for fast transactions with 8 second blocks and a very high network hashrate off the bat

Oh, OK. For some reason I was thinking the orphans showed as rejects.  Thanks.  I'm still very happy with the results so far.  Definitely going to keep mining at least through the first day.

Very interested to see how the price adjusts once it gets on exchanges as the blocks halve so very rapidly. Hope this coin does well!

Whoops, pool backend just crashed, I think it's struggling a bit with all those mining power.. never had SO much power at once ..

New people try to spread hashrate a bit, I've got to look for a faster/better server or tweak settings, I'll close registrations for the Moment.

489  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MOON] Mooncoin: You know where it's headed! NEW SOURCE RELEASED 2/16/2014! on: February 25, 2014, 01:26:42 AM
And as more companies start accepting a wide variety of altcoins, which they will, Moon and other alts will be able to be used to buy things directly and their value will rise.

For that to happen, someone has to actively promote currency. I can't imagine, that all of alts succeed in that.

BTW, do you know anything about activities promoting this coin?

Not all alts will succeed necessarily, but far more will enjoy a degree of success than most people think.  Check out Coinpayments.net for an example of what we'll see in the near future -- merchants able to accept basically any altcoin they want.  It's up to the community to talk to Coinpayments and other similar services that are still in development to get them to accept Moon.

As for promotions, I am sending a sequence of lessons to my 25,000+ person newsletter about crypto right now.

Last week I introduced them to the basic concepts with the video you can see linked in my sig, and this week I'll be sending them video lessons showing how to download the Mooncoin wallet and how to receive funds. Any of them who share my lessons on Facebook, Twitter, etc. and send me their Moon address will be sent some Mooncoin, and they'll be entered into a drawing to win more.

I'd planned to do this all sooner, but ran into some unrelated technical issues that held it up -- but I think the timing is better now anyway, with the updated wallets & difficulty settings.
490  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MOON] Mooncoin: You know where it's headed! NEW SOURCE RELEASED 2/16/2014! on: February 24, 2014, 11:44:00 PM
People seem to forget that Mooncoin and others are measured in Satoshi.  Satoshi is a fraction of Bitcoin.

So when Bitcoin rises in price, and it will do significantly later this year, then Mooncoin goes up in value even if it stays at the same number of Satoshi.  So you can still make a profit selling it for the same number of Satoshi when a Satoshi is worth more.

And as more companies start accepting a wide variety of altcoins, which they will, Moon and other alts will be able to be used to buy things directly and their value will rise.

So, to quote Douglas Adams... "Don't panic!"

Deaconboogie,  is there anything you have to do to notify sites like altexplorer.net, hypecoins.com, etc.  for them to register the correct difficulty?

The former still shows a difficulty of 346 and the latter shows as "22 hours behind", so they don't seem to be synced up right for some reason.  Just wondering.

Well someone speak up and we can organize to do it at the top of the hour, and guys, probably only at multipool, we do need combine hash rate at one server not over multiple.

I don't care what any noobs say. this is the only way.

I've switched three machines to mining Moon on Multipool to help move things along.

OFFICIAL MOONCOIN ANNOUNCEMENT

Mooncoin 1.862.0 availability is imminent!

This release is based off of Doge 1.5.1 with the addition of Kimoto's Gravity Well!

  • Based off of Litecoin 0.8.6/Doge 1.5.1 with latest bug fixes.
  • Kimoto's Gravity Well will begin tentatively at block 268xx. (We're still determining this...)
  • It is a clean upgrade and your blockchain will get converted when you run the new client.

If you are a pool operator, please watch our Twitter feed (@RealMooncoin) or this thread and be prepared to update your nodes accordingly!

Good to hear.

Update to a post I made a while back -- I'm still planning to email my 25K+ person newsletter with lessons showing them how to get & use the Mooncoin wallet, I've been waiting for the update before proceeding.  So maybe next week if the updated wallet is available. Fingers crossed.
495  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [SCRYPT] HashDollar (XHD) - 1 XHD = 1 U$$ (MIN) on: February 07, 2014, 10:29:01 PM
I'd still appreciate some details on how this currency is "stable" and "pinned to the dollar".  The white paper is really vague on these points and my earlier question wasn't answered.

Seems like cryptocurrency value is generally set by the market, and this has no market as yet so some kind of answer to these questions would be helpful and would inspire more confidence in your project.

Thank you for your time.

496  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MINT] Mintcoin, energy saving coin with a fast distribution on: February 07, 2014, 08:04:21 AM
Mine seems to have stabilized with 1 active connection and suddenly caught up while I was looking at the forum.
Good enough for now...
497  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MINT] Mintcoin, energy saving coin with a fast distribution on: February 07, 2014, 07:43:13 AM
Coin definitely needs more nodes.  I have all the ones listed in this thread added but the wallet app doesn't do more than get 1 connection for a second then drops it and back to 0 so I can't get any of the coins I've mined.  Guess I'll leave it running and see if any come back online...
498  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MOON] Mooncoin: You know where it's headed! WE HAVE LIFTOFF! on: February 06, 2014, 07:38:32 AM
2 Versions of Mooncoin PNG files that i made for mooncoin community.
You can use these files to build anything you want Grin

This is not official logo! Only contribution.

This real color is MUCH better than the current one, which just looks like many of the other golden colored coins at the moment.

I kind of would like something about halfway between. Maybe with most of the gold color in the outside ring only...?
499  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MOON] Mooncoin: You know where it's headed! WE HAVE LIFTOFF! on: February 06, 2014, 07:29:15 AM
Yes indded we need a plain  and move forward  atm iam talking to a local merchant that owns a vape shop/e cigs and is willing to take mooncoin as a payment  but I think we need some type of payment processes  to covert it to btc then to cash anyone have an ideal so I can get this moving  pm me yes there will be a bounty of course

1) Get Coinpayments.net to add Mooncoin to their merchant services platform
2) Sign up the shop and get them an account on Cryptsy
3) Set up Coinpayments to deposit Moon to Cryptsy with autosell
4) From there they could use Coinbase to convert to USD

Takes a little setup, but wouldn't be difficult for the merchant after that I don't think.

Could you explain how the Hashdollar is "stable"?  It's supposed to be pinned to the US $ in some way...?

I find some of the details about this currency to be, well, vague.

Not trying to pick a fight; just want to understand. Thanks.
