281  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Gamerholic coin (100% Fair Launch) *New ANN* on: March 17, 2015, 05:32:37 AM
Gamerholic made it to the video interview round of Shark Tank.

Gamerholic could be the 1st bitcoin pitch on shark tank.

Community interest (views/shares of the video) could help get us there.

Great video. Liked it & subscribed. I'm acquainted with a game developer I've been thinking for some time would be interested in integrating crypto into his games... I should email him a link to your video.
282  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Star Trek Crypto Coin thread - Big changes are coming!! on: March 17, 2015, 04:06:40 AM
Is the search broken, or is there seriously no mention of Quatloo in this thread?? How can you have Star Trek themed coin discussion without mentioning the ultimate coin name?

284  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][FLO] Florin 0.8.7.4 | The original transaction message coin on: March 13, 2015, 06:56:58 AM

Why aren't you guys announcing this stuff to the crypto media?  Especially the progress on Alexandria.

Isn't there enough hype in cryptoland?   Smiley

There is a small part of the protocol that we haven't decided on yet: We want to make it a requirement, in Alexandria, that when users post media they must contribute an additional small FLO fee to the miners. We believe incentivizing miners to participate in the network by requiring all users of the FLO block chain as a protocol layer to contribute to the miners in some way. This is an important anti-spam measure, as well as additional compensation for the miners' work; verifying and storing these extra protocol tx-comments and transaction data on their machines.

Q: Why not just raise FLO fees across the board (since fees are calculated by transaction size in bytes anyway)?
A: FLO users who do not participate in Alexandria should not be negatively affected by additional systems running on the block chain.

With this requirement in place, miners can receive a reward for their work above and beyond the coinbase subsidy they already collect. If no one has any objections to this, we will most likely require a 1-5 FLO fee (paid to the miners) for each new publisher / media submission added to the block chain. The protocol will ignore transactions without a fee, even if they contain valid protocol data in the tx-comment.

Seems reasonable to me, provided that there can be an adjustment of the fee later if/when the price rises sufficiently -- don't want to price people out of contributing content to the network (especially when you consider different scale economies than that in the US).

I've had my eye on this project since it was first announced a year or so ago.  Looking forward to checking it out... and maybe recording a few tutorials!

287  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Current wallet 0.9.5 on: March 11, 2015, 03:17:56 AM
Hash down to 29 ths, so switched on a miner at Miningpools.tk. 5 blocks so far.

@FK (and other miners using these new-fangled mining pools for UNO) ...

God I miss miningpool.co.

I'm not mining now, haven't been for 10 days or so.

@BW, I know you don't read this forum, but please hurry up and bring MM to UNO, and please make it doable by mere mortals!  :-)

This shouldn't be this hard for normal folks.

Hey Jelks, I posted a response to you on CCT earlier that may help. Just reread your post there and realized you'd posted your problem here as well, so figured I'd post a link to make sure you saw it.  Hopefully it'll get you up and mining again; let me know.

288  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ☆PopularCoin☆POP ☆ Merge with Popology ☆ Gold and Silver Wallets ★ Cryptopia↩ on: March 11, 2015, 01:51:11 AM

Well, originally the idea was to hook up with a Single Web TV Platform to generate the payout for watching, etc,..

After working the idea some more, and how exactly we will implement it, what we may do is basically create a widget that the different web tv/ media providers can add to their website to give their viewers Popular Coins for using their service.

Any media provider can then fill a wallet with coins to payout to their viewers.

So, it most likely will not be centralized.

However, the first media provider that we have talked with http://lookhu.com/  seems very interested in the concept!!

Because we are not funded there is a potential of a provider buying out the exclusive rights for their website and thus it would be centralized,..

Unfortunately the Popular Coin Project is not currently funded and would do a lot better if it was funded.

We don't want to be too loud about this either because we know that another coin may steal the idea or implement something similar which has happened quite a few times with POP concepts.

Either way, we are working as much as we can on creating the widget and eventually it will be implemented.

We also at some point will have a really nice rework of the code where we will create a way for those media providers to get a certain amount of free coins and most likely get some Proof of Stake going on, may even do a redistribution which would also give us the open door to create the Gold POP chain,..

So, we have big plans, lots to do, and will just have to be patient for everything to get developed and play out.

Any Donations help, really to develop the project the way it needs to, we need at least 5 to 25 bitcoin,..

POP did not have an IPO or a Premine so we have really suffered (in a way) because of that.

The best way for anyone to buy into the project and help with dev is to trade for the coin and donate to dev., I haven't been too pressing about asking for donations, but they would help a lot. Right now the price of POP is much lower than many IPO coins and Premine coins, so in reality its a much better buy,.. For example, if we had some bs IPO and made even 20 bitcoin, we would already have much of this implemented.

I can dev but I am no master dev, I am best at communication and I am learning more about dev everyday, Eventually the Project will make it to the point of having all of this together, we do have a team in place, all of us are very busy with just making ends meet, we eventually will get all of this together, it will just take time.

Thanks for asking,

As far as decentralization goes, Hopefully we can get funded before we give (sell) the exclusive rights away, if we can get a smoothly working version of the widget or app together before we connect with a media provider then we can certainly contact all web media providers!

The widget is going to need connect with a media player and base a payout on the amount of time the media is being viewed, so the provider can set it to 1 coin per minute or 5 coins per minute and then fill a wallet themselves try to do the widget with spinning POP image and the amount of coins you have earned at the bottom, pretty simple,.. either you have an account on that website that holds your amount of coins until you withdraw or, we could even have a signup at popularcoin.com where the coin amount data could be stored, its going to have to be secure and the whole nine yards so the whole program will be pretty dense.

Missed this reply. Sounds good!

I have a couple of coin investments I think may pay off pretty well in the near future; if/when they do, I will be sending some BTC to help out.

Good thing that POP is also available on Cryptopia now - looks like AllCrypt is going offline, at least for a while:

https://www.allcrypt.com/blog/2015/03/allcrypt-com-will-be-going-offline-for-a-while/

Would be nice to see POP listed on Bittrex; they should be happy to get a slow and steady currency (even if it's pretty low profile right now) instead of yet another pump-and-dump!

Have you looked at the pegged sidechains technology Blockstream is developing? I understand the first version will be released in a matter of weeks.  It could be one way to implement Gold and Silver POP and allow transfer of value between blockchains.
289  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bryce Weiner attempted to tip ISIS!? on: March 10, 2015, 02:57:16 AM
Send him to GITMO or else execution for treason. His choice.

So wait. You're suggesting he should be either tortured or murdered for sending $1 to someone?  That sounds like a completely rational and reasonable response.

You know, ISIS would probably approve of your methods and disregard for free speech.  Roll Eyes

Has he ever commented on why he did this and tipped the ISIS for nothing ?

He talked about it on DogeCoinDark Radio on Friday.  The episode will presumably appear in the archives in a few days after post-production:

http://dogecoindark.net/radio/archives.html

One thing it did was get Twitter to notice and shut down an ISIS-related account that they'd missed...

EAGS NEW DESIGN [WALLET v2] COMING IN MARS

*WALLET: (Wallet version 2 - Coming in Mars)

So the wallet will be released when what, people land on Mars? Or does the next robotic mission count?
Our priority right now is to get some few services up first. The redesign of the new wallet v2 will be done before the end
of this month.

My post was a joke about your OP where you twice mention that the update is "coming in Mars" when I assume you meant March...  Roll Eyes

Wonder if Kelly is considering implementing sidechains in NAUT?

https://twitter.com/BKBrianKelly/status/573139494930669568

Would have to be pegged to Litecoin, not Bitcoin, but sidechains are apparently coming to LTC at some point, so could be.

Sadly there wont' be good news for all altcoins, but right now it appears that many (or all) of us who own Unobtanium will be getting some back.

Definitely good news for those who lost UNO.

Make sense?

This makes sense to me, as did your previous post - you seem to be one of the few here not just spewing odd theories or bile.  Thanks!

Yeah, I have this bad habit of trying to post things in an attempt to actually add to the discussion. Probably a little weird, given the general nature of discourse on Bitcointalk...

I didn't realize DigiByte had an iOS wallet. Looks like it's been out a month now. Very cool.  May end up doing some lessons on it at some point.

And Working together on Creating a New Media Viewing Platform that will Pay its Participants in Popular Coins!!

You get Paid For watching your favorite shows via a Web TV Platform!! (se la vie to cable tv)

We have just solidified the Merge with Popology and are working on this New Platform that we are hoping to release in the near future.

We will Keep You Updated, here is an image to signify the merge, we are still polishing it off, but this is where we are Heading!

http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r438/PopularCoinPOP/popPOPSpin_zpsvn1gzapx.gif

Congratulations on the merger!

Will this be a decentralized or centralized service? The YouTube killer will be decentralized and built on blockchain technology with financial incentives for both posting content, reviewing (liking, sharing, etc.) content, as well as rewards for sharing the app itself so more people join the network...  Will be interested to see what you guys develop; any timeline for the project?

300  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gold collapsing. Bitcoin UP. on: February 23, 2015, 02:23:02 AM
bitcoin has a controlled amount , there could be a million kg of gold undiscovered.
Not really.
the gold resources that were not mined yet, are already identified and are scarce as well (that is why gold is one of the precious metals).
Also the ore quality is decreasing, so it costs more to get the same amount of gold.

Not really.

Asteroid mining is now within the realms of becoming viable. The gold resources there will dwarf anything seen on this planet. Once the transport mechanisms have been developed for recovery the gold is imminently more accessible, i.e. it is basically there in a pure form waiting to be "picked up".

Don't forget there's a ton of it in the oceans in fine particulate form that hasn't been profitable to "mine" but will become more so as we start refining ocean water for drinking on a large scale.  Not to mention, gold is considered valuable for other reasons than scarcity such as being highly conductive, malleable, ductile, non-corrosive, etc.

These qualities will be equaled and surpassed in time by newer materials.  All of the above will contribute to the long-term decline of the value of gold.

I talk about most of these things more in-depth in this video I recorded last year and recently uploaded to YouTube:
