481  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Restriction Possibilities? on: October 11, 2019, 12:48:34 PM
He told you how to disable it - by creating a watch only wallet using just the 4 xpubs. You can get the xpub of a wallet via wallet menu > information.
482  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: newbie here/ no bitcoins despite confirmations on: October 08, 2019, 10:04:56 AM

Are you sure? I just checked my wallet and Electrum shows all address you have on Addresses Tab along with some receiving and change address in advance after last address which involved in a transaction.

Besides, i don't see any option to show only specific amount of address on Addresses Tab

I don`t know how much address will be show, but certainly just a few. Each derivation path is able to generate millions/billions of addresses.
I just thought that it is safer to use that console function, because he might have generated an address in some weird way and it might not be displaying.

Electrum won't know about addresses it hasn't derived yet so both approaches do the same job. They search the list of addresses that have already been derived. The GUI one is just easier for most users.
483  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: newbie here/ no bitcoins despite confirmations on: October 07, 2019, 11:11:17 AM
Users are suggesting that you may have somehow created another wallet.
To be sure you are using the right wallet
Go to view > show console

ismine("12frz1zeVY4yHB4rNpPzBFkfnFqUEGTDBu")

To be sure that address belongs to your wallet.

you know they can do this more easily in the gui with ctrl+f on the addresses tab.
484  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Fast-Forwardable Wallet Seeds on: October 06, 2019, 09:15:06 AM
if you simply want to create multiple wallets from the same seed then just use a different derivation path. bip44 lets you create separate hd accounts which can function like separate wallets. another option is to simply add a passphrase to your seed. this is also known as a bip39 passphrase, seed extension or 25th "word". different passphrases lead to different wallets. the passphrase need not be a secret. it can be something as simply as 1, 2 etc.
485  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Lost btc in change address, any help please? on: October 04, 2019, 05:14:20 AM
OP created a reddit thread as well: https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/dc234j/lost_btc_in_change_address_any_help_please/ .
486  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Old versions compatibility on: October 04, 2019, 03:54:39 AM
all address specific private keys are derived from the seed. so to restore your wallet you need a) the seed b) a copy of electrum. b. is only required if your super paranoid about electrum disappearing from the face of the earth.
487  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Can't seem to create legacy address in Core on: October 03, 2019, 01:25:57 AM
omit the brackets:

getnewaddress "somelabel" "legacy"
488  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Lost btc in change address, any help please? on: October 02, 2019, 12:59:22 AM
I understand now receiving wallets are generated based off a seed. Cryptographically, I know that's no chance that seed will generate the same change address twice.

Actually being generated from seed means it will generate the same key pairs and corresponding addresses. So it should be seeing your $35 too.

Is the wallet synced? Maybe it's just catching up with the blockchain. Leave it running until it's synced and maybe then it'll show an accurate balance
489  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Encrypt a message using Bitcoin Public Key and decrypt with private key?Like PGP on: September 30, 2019, 01:06:43 AM
The reason it doesn't get used as much is because it doesn't provide any benefits over GPG. GPG is actually more widespread and there is support in all email clients for it. With bitcoin only electrum supports it ATM.

Signing messages with addresses other than p2pkh ones is also not widely supported. So the authentication part is missing.

I'm not sure if ECDSA can be used to encrypt, I thought it was only possible to use it to sign with? (the DSA part breaks out as Digital Signature Algorithm)

Electrum uses something called ECIES. Only Electrum supports it though.
490  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum to Electrum - transaction lost! on: September 27, 2019, 07:27:35 PM
Be careful about opening the links the OP shares. For some reason he won't use imgur like everyone else.
491  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Phone broke and need to recover Mycelium Wallet on: September 27, 2019, 04:22:04 AM
try this: long tap the 22nd account in mycelium and then choose reload account from the menu in the top right. do this for the 21st and 23rd accounts as well.

I also suggest you ask for help in the mycelium subforum: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=231.0 . The people there might have a better idea about how mycelium works.
492  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Phone broke and need to recover Mycelium Wallet on: September 27, 2019, 02:29:43 AM
mycelium on iphone doesn't support all address types. so if you originally used it on android you should restore on android too.
493  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Phone broke and need to recover Mycelium Wallet on: September 27, 2019, 02:13:35 AM
If you restored in electrum like bob123 said then the balance would be slightly different because you're restoring only one HD account i.e. the 22nd one. Electrum only supports one HD account per wallet. So are you sure the balance is the same as what you are seeing in mycelium?

Mycelium doesn't let you create new HD accounts if you have an unused HD account already. Unused here doesn't mean empty it means accounts that have never received or sent any money. If you actually used 21 accounts in the past then mycelium would not have complained when you tried to add new accounts to your restored wallet. So I believe that the seed you have is for a different wallet. Look for the seed for the correct wallet.
494  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Phone broke and need to recover Mycelium Wallet on: September 26, 2019, 07:25:28 PM
Go to accounts tab and tap the +key icon in the top right. Then choose HD account from the next screen. Keep doing this until you see the account with the coins.

If that doesn't work then tell me what the first character of the address where you sent the coins is.
495  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum to Electrum - transaction lost! on: September 26, 2019, 06:32:23 PM
1.  Where did you initially generate your seed (electrum on tails?)    -    Yes, it was generated on Electrum on Tails! (I only have problem with wallet on Tail. On Windows works everything properly)

Did you restore from seed on windows and is your wallet history and balance accurate on windows?
496  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum to Electrum - transaction lost! on: September 26, 2019, 06:30:13 PM
once again there is no point in using bip39 tools or alternative derivation paths if the seed was generated in electrum. he's said it now twice. i wish you guys would move on from that.
497  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum to Electrum - transaction lost! on: September 26, 2019, 03:02:50 PM
When originally creating the wallet did you extend the seed with custom words? That is 2b here: https://bitcoinelectrum.com/frequently-asked-questions/#why-does-restoring-my-wallet-from-seed-lead-to-a-different-wallet . If you didn't then I'm afraid this wallet does not contain the addresses where you sent the coins. Then the only 3 possibilities are that a )you created more than one wallet in the past b) that you have clipboard altering malware c) the addresses belong to so other wallet perhaps hosted by an exchange or website you use. If it's a. then look for the seeds of those other wallets. If it's b. then do a reformat and reinstall of your OS. If it's c. then login to exchanges and sites you use to see if the funds are there.
498  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum to Electrum - transaction lost! on: September 26, 2019, 02:54:19 PM
He says he has an electrum seed so why are you all telling him to restore as bip39? It's not a bip39 seed!
499  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum not sending on: September 25, 2019, 11:12:49 PM
I want to buy something from another country. The price they want is 0.0035mBTC. Is there no wallet that will send that amount then?

As you were told on reddit you are confusing btc with mbtc. 0.0035mbtc is like 3 US cents worth of bitcoin. That's not worth anything in any country in the world.

To change your unit of account to btc go to tools > preferences > general tab > base unit.
500  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum seeds generated different addresses - address with funds lost! on: September 25, 2019, 11:09:08 PM
please stick to the other thread. the more threads you create the more fragmented and redundant the discussion gets.

support is entirely community based so please be patient.
