Of course It's possible. Over the time with your knowledge and style you can easily rank up to Hero and why not Legendary one day.
I hope the newbies can take your work here as an example what they have to achieve and stop mumbling about how "difficult it is with this merit system".
4842  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: One (1) Merit point to Rank-up Service, Jr. to Hero Members Are Welcome. on: March 20, 2018, 10:19:12 AM

It was a pleasure to read thought your posts and not only the mentioned ones. This is why I decided to break my rule and give you 2 sMerit instead.
You can be an example for the newbies what they have to achieve in order to rank up.

First Sr Member rank up since the new merit system was introduced. Congrats Smiley

New Monero ASICs are hitting the news last few days, and since it's the Cryptonight algorithm they are mining how this will affect the ETN?
Both Bitmain and Baikal announced that Monero ASICs are coming to the market - Bitmain Antminer X3 and Baikal Giant N
This is rather big thing, so hope that Electroneum will be protected in a way otherwise it will crash the market, which is already unstable.

~snip~
In the medium term Monero will fix the problem and ETN will follow suit.

Long term, yeah there is talk about super ASIC miners with larger memory.  But, here is the kicker, ASIC miners are fast and efficient because the logic is baked into the PCB.  Interestingly enough I have a friend who designed one of those boards.  Anyway,  all you have to do is oppose the current algorithm and the ASIC has lost it's speed.  Personally I would not buy an ASIC miner because, as per the the working on their own websites, a change in the algorithm could wipe out your ROI!

Just had the same question in the Monero topic, and the answer I got is that the dev team is already fixing the algorithm so those ASICs will be useless. But as I said there, many people will be fooled to buy those ASICs and what they gonna use them for if they cannot mine Monero? Most definitely will try to go for electroneum too.
I'm not so worried about it, I'm still mining ETN just to support the project even with this low price now.

can you provide us the link for this monero miners.? I hope monero V fork has a solution for this .

I don't think moneroV does. But monero monero does. A slight change is going to be made to the mining algorithm that will render these asics useless for mining monero.

Is this announced somewhere? The HYPE and FUD are really strong forces and big part of the crypto miners are like sheep /no offense/ they have no idea what they are doing, only money matters, so I guess many will be fooled around to buy some expensive ASICs door-stoppers.

4847  Other / Meta / Re: Additional data dumps? on: March 19, 2018, 10:28:34 AM
For me it will be useful to get a data of all the users IDs posting in a specific topic and time, like in the ANN section.
If we can get a UID and Time on a topic, I can easily check for ICO pumpers.
4848  Other / Meta / Re: List of Accounts which Needs a Ban [ICO pumping accounts] on: March 19, 2018, 10:17:32 AM
Maybe little off topic but.
What about the projects and ANN threads that are actually paying for this service, we have to report them too?
For example on this page all the comments are from ICO bumpers.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2720181.3500
20 accounts on this page only.
Checking some of the accounts I see also another projects that are using this service.

Here are 17 accounts bumping the following ANNs:

It's probably off topic but since did't find any other BPIP thread so I will use this one to ask a question and maybe bump it again if you are still looking for help.
Here is what I need:
When searching for part of the username is there a way to sort out the search results? By default they are sorted alphabetically based on user name. It would be nice if we can sort the results based on the other criteria like, Position, Registration Date, Last Active, Posts Activity, Trust, Merit, Last Parsed, etc.
Other solution is just to export the results as a file/table so I can sort it myself.
4850  Other / Meta / Re: [Suggestion] Restricting accounts below "Member" from creating new threads on: March 19, 2018, 08:44:12 AM
This is not a bad idea in general but there are many cons as well. For example new ANNs often are posted by newbies.
The Copper member is what can solve the gap here. Now it's only used for newbies to post images and I think remove some restrictions in sending PMs. It can be used to give you access to write in a threads and sections restricted for newbies for example.
With the income from all those copper members, more Mods can be hired and there will be more control.

4852  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: March 18, 2018, 10:27:20 PM
I guess one of the reasons for the price drop you are talking about is because both Bitmain and Baikal announced that Monero ASICs are comming to the market - Bitmain Antminer X3 and Baikal Giant N
Looks like a lot of people are concern about them and this reflects to the current price level of all the Cryptonight coins.
4853  Other / Meta / Re: The ICO pumpers problem. on: March 18, 2018, 08:03:55 PM
Maybe the posts in off topic should not be counted as activity posts and reduce the shitload of garbage there.

Only Merit matters now as I see it.

Well, you still have two components in the ranking system. The merit maybe is more important but you also need activity and the easiest way is just to generate it is the off topic section.

Sigh! Yes, the posts there should not count for activity.

I don't know why this was not fixed till now. Maybe theymos is afraid that the whole spam from there will move to the main forum sections, and in such a case maybe he is right. The bitcoin section is already filled with megathreads that a coping each other.

After 22 pages people are still quoting and answering the OP but no one is reading the previous comments, just piling up useless comments that no one will ever read.
True story....

i am very curious about your profile: win 25$ +8 merits.
How do i do this? just need to win the merits if you have a raffle going on. Thanks

Alternatively when you're reporting lots of people like this just report one and leave a note that there's plenty of others after it that need removing.
I do this sometimes, but I have no idea how effective it is compared to just reporting many posts. Threads like that have hundreds of spam posts, which makes it an impossible task for moderators to clean up.
I actually made a thread about "great project"-posts before: Patrol: "Great Project". Cleanup request/discussion for Mods.
I opened myself a thread reporting a variety rule breakers after I asked mprep what is the best way to report accounts.

~sinp~
I report mostly posts, can I report profiles if I see something suspicious and how? It would be helpful if we get a "report Profile" button, it may reduce the account farming.
Not really. Starting a thread in Meta or PMing one of the global mods and / or admins is the only way to report a user rather than his post or PM AFAIK.

4856  Other / Meta / Re: Cool down time for reporting posts to be reduced. on: March 18, 2018, 02:28:08 PM
In my opinion, to have quality articles and the right topic, there should be rules on posts more closely. Then widely announced to the campaign participants know. But they should not delete their posts arbitrarily because they think there are too many postings. Take a closer look at the articles that try on the right topic and quality because when posted, they have spent a lot of work on their article.

I know that English is not first language, but man, I can't understand a bit of what you are saying. I see no relation to the OP but please someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Reading through your previous comments and  brain hurts now.... I prefer listening to cockney instead Wink
How did you end up to Sr. Member at all?
4857  Other / Meta / Re: Cool down time for reporting posts to be reduced. on: March 18, 2018, 10:09:21 AM
Are you running into this issue often? Maybe theymnos should reduce the time for members and above. Alternatively when you're reporting lots of people like this just report one and leave a note that there's plenty of others after it that need removing. Some other restrictions should probably be put into place to stop those (likely bot spammer shills because it's a colossal waste of time dealing with them.

Well, while I'm hunting for ICO bumpers, very often I see many shitposts in a line like I posted on the OP. When I start reporting them I already have an auto-fill for " spammer", "positing in other language in English threads" or similar so it doesn't take much time for me to report a post.

I thought that instead of wasting the mods time to browse through some ANN threads with 100000 posts, I can just point out the spam massages. I have my post count view "on", so I can easily spot a spammer with more than 25 posts and I always check those profiles. If they really break the rules more than 3-4 times I just list them on my List Rule-Breakers. and mprep is cleaning them from time to time.

I see now that I'm white listed, thank you for that.

Edit> I tried it, it's working perfect now, thanks again.
4858  Other / Meta / Cool down time for reporting posts to be reduced. on: March 18, 2018, 09:46:19 AM
Hello guys and girls,

I have following suggestion> The waiting time between reporting posts to be slightly reduced.
Maybe can be based on Merit instead of Rank.
Now a member has to wait 11 seconds between reporting two posts.

And if I want to report something like this, I have to waste half a minute >

But if some new person signs up today, who is enthusiastic about the forum or the currencies, he/she will have to beg or buy or 'write clever informing articles' or be friends with high ranked ones...

People are getting probably tired of this but let me give you nullius as example, OK?
He knows the sh!t and have the time and the abilities to write some extraordinary posts, I know, not everyone can be like him, but hey, I think I can rank up in a couple of weeks maybe, and I'm just an ordinary guy, joined back in November last year and had no idea what blockchain is. Now I can say that I learnt quite a lot for this time and I'm thankful.
No need to beg at all, try to do something instead, be creative and learn. The information you find here is more valuable then any merit or coin.
4860  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can I give merit? on: March 18, 2018, 07:37:34 AM
Read my thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2534500.0

You will learn a lot about the forum rank, merit,  activity and trust.
Good luck
