I did the upgrade using the command line you provided Smiley

I have the same error

The problem was an ad-block extension. You should disable it for your Minera websites.
I tried Minera again.  Same issue here with me.  Got the dialog box with no way out.  Enough for me, I'll go back to a base pi image with cgminer installed.

If you do want to do that Ad thing, why not look into integrating with brave ads?  Otherwise, just do an add free version and force a payment after 7 days.

I would relax  Cool
Hi toknormal, ok I'll listen you  Smiley

... For example the two monetary researchers that wanted to use Dash as a basis for their Flow Money proposal flat out said it was the most advanced (monetarily) of all on offer. Max Keiser cited it as one of the 3 candidates for "the one" to 20 million viewers.

Who are this researchers? Do you have links? (Max Keiser too)
Thanks in advanced

I had to dig for it through the "General" sub-forum on dashtalk.org, but found it here:  https://dashtalk.org/threads/budget-proposal-proof-of-labour.8108/  Unfortunately, it didn't pass, so it's not viewable at Dashwhale, but luckily you can find the link to the Dashwhale proposal page through the above link Smiley

It's very unfortunate that this didn't pass.

Dash evolution will support their idea... it's just going to be done differently. Evan style.
Solarminer likes this.

Fantastic.  This is great news.

Anyone with questions on the proof of labor proposal can listen to Buster's Darq podcast about it.  http://www.darq.io/ episode 16.

Isn't this the basis of the current political system? Maybe one day Dash will be big enough to have Dash political parties and Masternode Senators!  Grin

Walter

Democracy is terrible. Delegative democracy is probably less terrible. Delegative democracy without egalitarianism(you have to have 1000 dash to vote) might actually work.

You are absolutely correct. As Churchill once said:

"Indeed it has been said that democracy is the worst form of Government except for all those other forms that have been tried from time to time.…"

But until somebody invents a better system, we keep coming back to it =)
Dash isn't a democrracy.  Votes are based on the amount invested.  More like shareholders.

There will only be 6000 or less masternodes.  It isn't unreasonable for each of those to research and vote on each proposal when each masternode is worth $100k.  And then each node will probably be shared by a few owners.  Each node owner may hire advisors to help read and decipher proposals.  Each node may have an internal voting strategy between owners.  And it is also possible to have each proposal be a group of projects that internally decide how they move forward.  So those 2000 proposals may be 20 with 100 projects under them.

The core voting mechanism needs to be done by those actually risking capital.  Every project is kept honest by the threat of losing funds, every voter has a vested interest and votes in the best interest of Dash.

Masternode operators are going to always lack specific domain knowledge that is required to make competent decisions about where to spend the money. Governments solve this issue by having boards of advisors, such as the administrative cabinet, the counsel on foreign relations, the economic advisory committees, etc. Can't we just alter this strategy slightly for our purposes?  For us, we're going to need to setup some kind of simple advisory boards for business, economics, technology and other things. What if at a few billion dollars we have four or five of these types of committees, where the masternodes are electing whoever they want into the roles. After that these people would do the research and publish reports.

These advisors could be expensive later on as well, I think they'll need significant experience in the domain in question. For economics, it might mean you have a PhD and have published. Those types of people are going to be too expensive to hire alone, I think it makes more sense for the network to band together.

If we use a setup like that, the masternodes could start by reading the research done by these committees about various decisions they need to make, then they could make up their own mind.

I am A OK with advisors helping masternode owners make decisions.  That could be a project voted in by masternodes or a private subsciption service.  But this should never be a situation of voting for 10 people with no stake in Dash to make decisions on behalf of all masternodes.

I can definitely see a future where respected community members either hold the proxy votes of others (mnprivkeys) and vote directly for proposals (sort of like a senate), or where trusted community members gather all the proposals for the month, explain the pros and cons, and then issue a recommendation (sort of like investment guys labeling stuff as "buy" "hold" "sell"). This could either be a paid (Consumer Reports) type model, or free (blogging type model).

I don't understand why the idea of someone else voting for you is ever a good idea.  Do senators ever vote to benefit voters?  Doubt it.   Educating masternode owners is the best way to have a functioning voting process.

I agree with Tok that excessive reporting is a waste of time....probably not how he put it.  The idea of reports may not apply anyway.  Think if each proposal used a video explaining it.  With the possibility of each proposal having significant funding, making a video is worth the extra effort.

I am interested to see what Evan comes up with.  I don't understand how you can confirm an identity with crypto.  Maybe it is tied to a collateral input.  Or a certain amount of Dash is held in escrow to give an incentive to follow through on commitments.  Otherwise, you could just create new wallets and new identities and dump old identities.  Maybe there is a reputation system, but how do you keep that based on real people....I am sure Evan has a creative way to solve this.

I also heard that we have a new communication protocol called the Dish Network.  Masternodes now can connect directly to satellites.   As a side benefit, TV service is now available for all masternodes.

works great. Love the new wallet. Now i can watch tv and send dish at the same time. Works on every wallet, you don't need to have a masternode btw.

Wow, nice job Raptor.

Yeah, just a few minutes ago developers had only managed to get the fipper core of the vector trogamatron set for triband operation.  They have been struggling on a particular spectrum of the wavinoid suppressor which was over exposing the optoreceiver.  Once the proper frequency was found, they successfully fluxed the dual rogator trammel in the lateral direction enough to get Dish Network fully operational on all Dish wallets.

I believe an ongoing effort is underway to integrate the Dishman(formerly known as Dashman) to the Hopper, this will fully automate the Dish Network and masternode communication protocol.

With the recent proposal to divert funds from Public Awareness, I would suggest looking at the Dash World proposal for a renewed focus on marketing.  These guys have their act together.  Detailed proposal, targeted marketing, great metrics, good ideas.

And if you want to listen to the proposal owners talk about it, check out Buster's/Oaxaca's/Fernando's Dash Round Table Episode 02 with Lisa, Dr BobLQ, and even a Rooster  Smiley.

I actually hold my masternodes on Vultr. While i am extremely happy with their service, they are great if you have a single masternode, and they become borderline even with 2-3 nodes.

Moocowmoo is right.  You need about 400MB of ram per node.  I believe Vultr only has 768MB or ram for the basic.  The nodes will start out with about 300MB of ram and creep up over a few days causing your crashing.

You have a few options:
Pay for a hosting providing by Moocowmoo, Splawik, node40, etc.  They setup automatic scripts and know how to keep nodes running.  Some also have easy ways to vote too.

Get a VPS with more ram.  Typically, a 2GB ram VPS can come with a few IPs and is your best bet for cost.  http://lowendbox.com is a good place to find offers and deals.  But this is probably not your most reliable option.  If a host says they don't offer 24/7 support - that means the end of a billing period they can shut you down at midnight and you wait until they wake up at 9am the next day to help get you started.  Or the drive fills up on Saturday, nodes crash, and you wait until Monday for them to fix it.  Ideally, you want a service that guaranties 1hr or less downtime 24/7 - not saying they exist in your price range.  You can loose several days of payments for just a 90 minute outage.

You can get static IPs from your ISP.  Typically, this is more expensive, but in the future with higher ram/disk requirements this might be the better deal.  Then run a computer with ubuntu behind a router on a ups.

Hop on this site and look at the masternode service providers for the full list and help on setting everything up.
http://dashmasternode.org

Moocowmoo has a restart script and an easy updater called dashman.  See the bolehvpn link he provided in his post to setup both.

Also there is a site dedicated to monitoring your nodes and voting.  Install the dwupdater and it will restart and notify you when your nodes have a problem.  http://dashwhale.org

For status, you can setup a bookmark specific to your nodes with the dashninja by adding your IPs or addresses in the middle - no spaces.

Uptrend still continuing?

The difference between daytrading Dash and a normal currency is:

NORMAL CURRENCY

[1] - Spike
[2] - You Sell
[3] - Everyone Sells
[4] - Price drops with plenty liquidity at lower levels
[5] - Buyback lower with increased holdings or take a BTC realised gain

DASH

[1] - Spike
[2] - You Sell
[3] - The guy you sold to says "thanks very much I really wanted that masternode"
[4] - Price drops a bit but the liquidity doesn't come back
[5] - Ouch. Hope you enjoy your BTC gain*. Goodbye  Wink

That's the principle. The practice is that they don't even need to buy a full masternode any more - it can go to reserve whatever the amount using these services  Wink

* or if you were shorting, BTC pain
Or a more simple idea....

Time for secure transaction:
Bitclones: 10+ minutes and could be hours when blocks fill up.
Dash: 1-4 seconds.

What's in your wallet?

Hi guys
I have offering a masternode vps service for these guys here

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1262920.0

The cost is this
$1 setup charge per masternode then it's $1.5 per masternode per month

I can setup the masternode so that it's built and synced all ready to go
All you need to  do is setup your  config files etc.
Start th coin deamon and your good to go.

Now I know what you might be thinking why so cheap.
Well good question I'm here to help everyone and yes I do make a bit out of each masternode fees but it's not a lot
Enough to cover server costs etc.

Have a look at the services and the feedback I have received

If your interested and have any questions just ask

Thanks
Paul

How much RAM/Bandwidth/disk space are you prepared for?  Dash needs about 500MB/200GB per month/5GB per node.

If you click the link it should send you to a registration screen which requests an email and password to register.

If that link doesn't automatically get you to the registration page, this one should.
https://dashchat.herokuapp.com/

The first does not accept the mail and password I choose and the second one gives me this:

Dash Chat
Failed! token_revoked
Sent you a PM.  Anyone else with issues, just send me your email via a PM.  I'll send you an invite.

Here is a quick update on the 'Unofficial' Dash Chat Slack.
  • We now have 68 members with a few people on at all times.
  • We have on average 5000 messages per week with half in public channels
  • We have reddit(soon whatisdash.org) questions come directly into our help section of slack, and get answered quickly.
  • We have tweets from Tao, Tungfa, and others to keep updated on events.
  • The new projects with whatisdash.org, dashmasternode.org, DARQ, and any new proposals get a lot of discussion.
  • Questions for the DARQ podcast are posted on slack for live podcast on Sundays.(This weeks show will be prerecorded with the owner of CoinGecko)
  • Of course we also have random topics and some price discussions.

We fixed the automatic invite problem.   We had to change the slack bot that invites everyone so now our new address to join is:
https://digitalcash.signup.team/

If anyone has questions for the podcast with Bobby Ong (https://www.coingecko.com/en/about) please send today so Buster can get into the interview.

Means I can just steal someones votes once I get access to his dash.conf and vote with an empty wallet. Sounds scary if you think for a moment what harm can be done to the project using this method.
Yes, keep your dash.conf safe (the private key inside is what is important).  On other hand, that private key can't be used to get your funds.  And if it is lost, you can create a new private key and put in remote/local files and regain control.

I would be great if we could use the Slack app. Is this possible?
Yes, both android and iphone apps work.  The official slack(invite only) is on channel Dash and the unofficial(open) slack is on channel Dash Chat.  You can switch back and forth or to any other slack channel within the app.
