I don't have a powerful machine to solo mine MRO as of now . Can we donate some BCN ?
Yes, I will ask smooth to add a BCN address

zone has asked for an extra 1 BTC to fork cpuminer and add stratum support for Monero mining. we're not very far off, can we raise an extra 1 BTC as a community?
I'm sure we can. What is the status of the pool project/bounty? It seems we have around more or less enough in the fund. Should we convert the MRO to BTC at this point, or maybe the developer would want some or all of it in MRO? After all his work will probably make MRO more valuable. zone117x entered active development as of last night. waiting to hear back from him about how he wants the current funds. i will buy at 0.001 worst case.

I have found 5 blocks now! Difficulty is way to high for me to continue mining any more though.
Someone let me know when another clone of this coin comes out. I want to get in on it right at launch.
I pm you when the next cryptonote with a fast 5days pow/pos will come. Don't need to ninja mining 2 years Pools will be out shortly.

I have updated master to 0.8.6.

We are about to overtake the ByteCoin network hashrate (MRO: 24698 H/s, BCN: 26738 H/s).
Development of open source pool software is reported to have begun.

We have been testing payment_ids in 0.8.6. These will possibly help exchanges deposit/withdrawal funds. In simplewallet 0.8.6, to set payment_id for a tx, add the following after a normal tx: transfer <mixin_count> <addr_1> <amount_1> [<addr_2> <amount_2> ... <addr_N> <amount_N>] [payment_id] payment_id is a 64-character hex string (256 bits) that is included with your tx as plaintext on the blockchain. it is used to identify your tx by the receiver. the receiver can then observe if they have received a payment with such a payment_id by: they may also use the wallet RPC call detailed here: https://wiki.bytecoin.org/wiki/Wallet_JSON_RPC_API#get_payments_2beware that these are PLAINTEXT and could be used to trace you on the blockchain. it is equivalent to a 32-byte OP_RETURN push on bitcoin.

Any comments so far on 0.8.6? I will merge it with master soon and push win binaries, just want to make sure it's stable.

updates have been pushed to the 0.8.6 branch. to compile and use 0.8.6 test, do this: git clone git://github.com/monero-project/bitmonero.git cd bitmonero git remote add upstream git://github.com/monero-project/bitmonero.git git checkout --track origin/extraupdate mkdir build make -j4 In a couple days after people have played with it, I will merge to main. It contains numerous updates regarding tx_extra field in tx and allows compiling on 32 bit platforms. it also contains a checkpoint, so the network will now fast sync to that block (22231).

|
|
When binaries are updated, can you please add the date in the OP also? So we can check easily if we have the latest version running
Good idea. We also really need a version numbering system. I am following bytecoin's lead. Newest version will be 0.8.6.

Important! We have a pool bounty going. As you've probably noticed, network hashrate is going up. When the 32-bit code is merged in, it'll go even higher. Solo mining outcomes will then be pretty random. tacotime has a dev who will work on an open source pool implementation for a bounty. See this topic/post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=589533.msg6520464#msg6520464 Where is the address that this money needs to be going to? Someone's gotta step up and take the funds . . generosity usually only comes in ten minute windows for most people edit: I would totally feel that you'd do great at collecting and managing the funds I can make a wallet, but eizh can too, I will update the thread in a bit (working on update to latest version)

I've been reading your MC2 thread. It's impressive to speak little of it. As far as bad situations go, I'm glad you were who we have now. The incredible amount of help and time you, and everyone else, have put forth is nothing small. If I didn't feel like the MRO would be worth something some day I'd send it all to you guys Smiley
I'm sorry if I neglected to mention that the major hook into this, apart from the badass protocol, are the people that it has brought toward it. You, NoodleDoodle, Smooth, Othe, David Latapie, eizh are the reason that this will succeed in my mind. Not just a gui or pool.
That I can come here every day and you guys are posting is more than a reassurance for me. You guys even showed me how to install this on ubuntu, which I'm coming to see is a great alternative to windows.
I'm sure, under your combined leadership, that I will very soon be coming to this thread and seeing hundreds of posts from many new people pouring in. Thanks for the kind words. This has been the first thing I've really been excited about since mining Tenebrix/Litecoin back when their genesis blocks came out and I'm happy to give the project as much spare time as I possible can on top of my full-time work on MC2.

I do have a newbie question though, why can't someone compile the linux source? Why is it better to compile linux version yourself, but we all trust windows binaries?
GCC often has architecture specific optimizations when compiling, so it tends to be faster if you build yourself. Compiling on Windows tends to be a pain in the ass, so we recommend people just use the binaries.
