503  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bootstrapping a local economy on: February 04, 2011, 10:12:41 PM
Ok, this is what we need first:
The POS system and the Ripple Decentralized Protocol/Exchange(F2F)

I am working on a PrestaShop module which will use MtGox merchant service. This shall allow more merchants to start offering tangible and non-tangible goods for bitcoins.

I have leverage on my current school(about 2K students and staff) and if I can get my hands to a POS system(Where you just walk, scan a QR address pay and you are done) system I wouldn't mind donating it to offer lunch and school material for Bitcoins.

The drug trade is a big one, anonymous payment is huge in that regard.

This isn't nice at all. If people correlate bitcoin with socially unaccepted behaviours then the adoption would be harder. xD
505  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bootstrapping a local economy on: February 03, 2011, 05:03:29 PM
Now there are a few projects that must be fullfiled before this can really progress. Such projects are:
-Android Client
-Ripple Distributed Protocol for the Exchange and Instant Payments
-ATM Machin exchanges?
-POS Systems
-Animated Movie(When it is done buy tons and give them for free at schools, workplaces, universities, cinemas, grocery stores, etc)

As of the audience open minded(Young people) are more likely to adopt it at first then drag the elder ones. :-)
506  Economy / Economics / Re: US and UK produces tons of fake gold... Will gold be backed by Bitcoin ? on: February 03, 2011, 04:39:00 PM
I, an embassor of Nutopia, call the United States of America a rip off that is filled with tungsten instead of gold defrauding the public trust any living being in the planet has on their fiat currency or gold "present" at their treasury vaults. Therby I declare Bitcoin to be the new official currency of any living being on the planet as a proof of work. This status is shared with Gold and Silver for which the purity must not be less than six nines per million. Anyone that attempts or archieves to trade gold or silver of lesser purity on conciences of the act is therby commiting counterfit. Tongue

This community is small, you should keep that in mind. Leaving that aside, there is demand, though please don't offer your products/services in a Bitcoin only fashion. Take the time to bring your current customers to Bitcoin.

You won't anymore, I am automating the process and it is going to be a blog with ads.(Instead of having to upload and tell when a new issue is out) It is the equivalent of changing from a version based release to a rolling release.

EDIT: it does, you get a 10% share.

Well, good luck.

I'll be writing for a rival magazine even if I have to start a magazine to do it.

You are still welcomed to write for it though. Wink
May the blog arm race begin.

However, I will no longer be writing for The Bitcoin Times. He decided to change it into a biweekly magazine.

Please, even if it was biweekly it wouldn't be that of a big deal. The problem is that there were only 2 articles for this issue! One of which was a transcript of a podcast. You are still welcomed to write and get paid in BTC for you good writing, it will probably become a blog and go back to the original publishing model of auctioning 10 votes who get to choose what gets published and pay accordingly + a share of ad revenue for all of them.

My host had been down and no sign of it coming up soon. You will need to get it from MediaFire.

Issuing system gets changed. It will be upgraded to a blog like magazine.
I am now in charge of the Ads management which will be using the OperationFabulous service.(For the blog)

Status:
-chris quit, need an editor with excellent grammar.
-kiba, your job had been automated. Your writings are still really welcomed. Smiley
-I will resolve my hosting problem and maybe get a new hoster.
-Issue is published on time.

I only assumed it was a rich kid not an organization. Tongue
514  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Near dollar parity on MtGox on: February 01, 2011, 08:57:45 PM
No, maybe a rich kid wanted to get his hand into some goodies offered here. He might had just buy a lot(Like 10K USD) and the price spiked. It is going to fall under 0.65 soon. xD
515  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MtGox account compromised on: February 01, 2011, 08:55:53 PM
So, has anyone identified the attacker? I had been checking the IP with no luck.
516  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin parity. on: February 01, 2011, 08:52:45 PM
I'm (only half-jokingly) claiming that I caused the bitcoin rally:

http://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2555.80

After my post yesterday, the price jumped hard to 0.95, then dropped. Since then, it has been headed up rapidly.

It sucks though because I wasn't done buying my bitcoins!

If the rally made you happy (and you agree that I might have caused it), you can always thank me with a tip: 19hMEAaRMbEhfSkeU4GT8mgSuyR4t4M6TH

Uhm, not really, this are normal market forces and if you want to buy you still can, though I recommend to sell.(Call me bearish)

Maybe this could indicate a bigger adoption and somone who doesn't know to much about the market just buying it for buying it. There was a big volumn when it started and now there is almost nothing. So it went to 0.9 and now it is under 0.8, in my opinion it is worth 0.6 at the current difficulty.
517  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MtGox account compromised on: February 01, 2011, 08:13:37 PM
Dunno, maybe you can get a sell on short while you have chance. Tongue

As of the 24th incident it could show that there was indeed a compromise or MtGox checking something.
518  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MtGox account compromised on: February 01, 2011, 08:06:09 PM
I have a 7 random(Generated) + a salt of at least 5 chars and I still see an odd transaction. The good thing is that I didn't had any funds at that time. So, anything official about what happened yet?
519  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Prestashop Module on: February 01, 2011, 07:50:40 PM
Does anyone know what are the fees for a merchant at MtGox and if it supports sending bitcoins to an BTC address instead of a MtGox address during checkout?
520  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MtGox account compromised on: February 01, 2011, 06:05:13 PM
What if my goal is just to stop you for participating in the market? If I just want to kick you I just let some bruteforcers on forever and you would never be able to enter again. Even if it is just 1 minute, then in 0.000001 seconds you are blocked again and again and again. :/
