501  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: PicoStocks, bitcoin stock exchange on: December 21, 2013, 12:40:13 AM
You confuse ability with will. From the few posts I've read of yours, it's a common pattern.

Nah, refusing to read the seminal stuff of that which you profess to be interested in ultimately comes down to ability. I'd recommend getting over it; bitcoin isn't one of those fields where you can play pretend and end up unscathed.

503  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: is anything bitcoin not a scam? on: December 20, 2013, 06:09:52 PM
pretty ridiculous!

there doesn't seem to be one exchange that works correctly / honestly? someone correct me if I am wrong?

half the merchants pull runners and vanish with stuff, or just don't ship stuff

at least 95% of anything to do with mining is a total disaster

Seems like bitcoin is a magnet for scams - and its getting worse not better.

See here.

No, not everything is a scam. Yes, however, many things are. And yes, they'll always be around, more or less. The key is to arm yourself such that you're impervious. This means reading. A lot. It means listening to those who have been around longer and who've established they know what they're talking about. Even if it grates. This means not using a product or service if your due diligence shows it's not a good choice. Even if it'd be easy to try, even if the operator seems nice.

This isn't a problem intrinsic to bitcoin, it's a problem intrinsic to people. The solution is changing yourself, not BTC. Those who can adapt will prosper, and those who refuse will continue to get fleeced.
504  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Best, fastest, and cheapest method to purchase bitcoin in US on: December 20, 2013, 06:04:05 PM
OP, check out the WoT and OTC. The time spent finding someone to trade with might be more than the time required to set up an account on an exchange, but you won't face nearly as much risk (either in terms of unexpected delays or actual loss of your funds), and you'll be taking the first step towards entirely hassle-free trading in the future.
505  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Vircurex interest trustworthiness question on: December 19, 2013, 07:01:36 PM
I've seen a lot of both positive and negative comments circulating about Vircurex lately.  Now that they've started "interest" payments to depositors, I'm more curious about the platform in general.  Can anyone give me any tips pro or con regarding their experiences?

The interest thing tripped off a scam alarm in my head (as a deposited amount sitting in the account does nothing, really, to earn them any money), but I'm looking to know more before I pull the trigger.  Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

Also, you've got a couple of grammar errors in your graphic text up there (possessives don't take apostrophes; two users are users, not user's).
507  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Class action lawsuit against Coinbase, inc on: December 19, 2013, 04:46:01 AM
It's not a matter what I want to do, but a matter of what needs to be done to weed out all the fraudulent/dishonest/incompetent companies associated with bitcoin, which is almost all of them.  And it is a matter of justice being served.  Are you okay with a dishonest company handling something you believe in?

So stop giving them money. Stop giving them BTC. When "companies" can't follow the established standards, don't use their services. Don't order their products. When they make it clear they're scamming, either willfully or out of sheer lack of ability, don't use them. Even if there's no convenient alternative yet.

No matter how many lawsuits are discussed, no matter how many fantasies of vengeance are born, this shit will continue (and likely multiply further) until people stop enabling the clueless to wander in and wildly mishandle things.

That is not what he is saying at all.  He is saying that we need to follow some template of his in order to be a legitimate business in the bitcoin world,  never mind the fact that it is outdated.  He has admitted to spamming other announcement threads and is doing nothing but attempting to push his ideas on people.

Further,  why would I not announce this service on bitcointalk.org? It is the repository of most of bitcoin Commerce and discussion.  This is the ideal place for such announcements.

She.

They're not "my ideas". If you prefer to reject the notion of standards existing within a given field so you can pretend that any given interpretation is equally valid, by all means go ahead. Yes, I will certainly call you out, and yes, I will certainly throw it in your face when it inevitably collapses. This is bitcoin business, not artistic expression hour.
512  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Windy City Bitcoin LLC - Bitcion Kiosk Operator Chicago on: December 17, 2013, 05:11:51 PM
Are you trying to educate us? Is this constructive criticism? You literally have zero knowledge of our standards and practices, our strategic plan or our due diligence in regards to this venture; nor do you seem to have the wherewithal to engage in an open and good-faith discussion regarding them.

I don't need "knowledge of your standards and practices" to notice that you cannot manage following the very basic steps of introducing yourself and explaining what it is your business will be doing. These are required skills; there's no getting around it by alluding to undisclosed details.

So then, what I'm doing is pointing out to you that as it is, you have a problem. What you're doing is pretending that it cannot be the case you have a problem, and that instead the far more established player that has seen this exact scenario play out time and again lacks "wherewithal". You'd get much better results out of resolving the kinks in your ideas than fighting against me.

515  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Announcing a new bitcoin exchange with UK banking - www.bit121.co.uk on: December 16, 2013, 03:41:08 PM
Hello. This is Jim Iddiols, CEO of bit121.co.uk.

Our bitcoin exchange has been operating for nearly a week now and I would like to express my thanks to all who have registered and especially those of you that have started trading. We hope that you have had a good experience and will spread the word.

As a result of the much appreciated comments and feedback already received, we are pleased to advise that we have reduced our deposit and trading limits. Our minimum deposit has been reduced from £500 to £50 and our minimum trade has reduced from 1BTC to 0.1 BTC. We have also prioritised our plan to implement 2 factor authentication and hope to implement this soon. Just give us a little time.

We are very pleased with our first week of operation. We have received a very satisfactory number of new registrations of which a good number have gone through the verification process and have executed trades. To date, all deposits and withdrawals have gone through very quickly – all have processed within 48 hours. And we have received some very complementary comments about the layout, format and information provided for our customers in the Account Statement. In addition, our cold storage security procedures are working successfully just as we expected. The downside of this is that you may have to wait up to an hour, when you withdraw coins, while we take them out of cold storage.

Finally, we do appreciate that our site may not be the most attractive, but our immediate priority was on functionality rather than looks, and so far we are very pleased. We hope you will join us.

Best Regards
Jim

Hi Jim. See here.

516  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: all4btc.com - buy all amazon products with bitcoins on: December 16, 2013, 03:37:40 PM
Dear Gentleman,

this is just not fair! Why are you blaming us that we are a scam? We refunded you every little satoshi! And you write stuff like that here in the forum.

We want to make a statement here:

1. You switched your javascript off, so that the programm couldn't work properly on your computer. We had several orders around the same time, so that was not our fault. And we processed all of the orders without any problems.

2. You contacted our support at 10pm (our office is closing at 6pm) and we wanted to help you, so we kept on writing with you until late, AGAIN only to offer you a good service. (Of course our programmer was not around at that time so that we could answer everything. We appologized for that many times)

3. You told us, that it is shipping free. We tried to order your product in any way possible and the result was 7.99€ shipping and 1.5€ insurance. We can do screen shots of the fact. What do you want us to do, just give you the 7.99€ as a present? What would you do if you were us?

That really sucks, we worked really hard the last half year to make all our costumers happy, we invested so much time and passion and now people like you try to ruin it.

bitcoinsberlin

I can't believe that people actually sent bitcoins to these people after this response was posted.

If you want something, it's worth figuring out how to actually get it. In no case ever is it a good idea to take the lazy way out and hope that some non-established, unverifiable route (especially one marked by the sheer incompetence displayed above) will work out. You're not just losing your coins, you're contributing to the stupidification of the marketplace.
517  Economy / Securities / Re: Problem with BOURSE forced buyback on Cryptostocks on: December 16, 2013, 03:27:23 PM
Yes, it is your site. You're really not fooling anyone pretending that MPOE-PR and Popescu are different people.

It's quite established. People have met me. Your fantasies about it being someone else's fault that you're being idiotic are just that, fantasies. The sooner you come to terms with this, the sooner you can escape the idiot camp.

Thanks for the responses guys, and thank you Hannah for the link to the Cryptostocks report.

You're quite welcome. I hope something in here works out for you.
518  Economy / Securities / Re: PETAMINE IPO HAVELOCK TODAY on: December 16, 2013, 03:21:04 PM
For example, if CryptX ultimately deploys the mine after mid January, 2014, an additional 30 TH/s of power will be added to the PETA-MINE completely free of charge to shareholders, and each share will be entitled to 2.88 GH/s of hash power. If the company starts deployment after mid February, 2014, it will add an additional 20% on top of the previous 20%. In that case, each share would be entitled to 3.45 GH/s of hash power.

We will deploy an extra 20% if the mining starts after mid January. Because the mine is now at 2.4 GH/s per share, we will deploy a minimum of ~33 TH/s extra. It all depends at the amount of shares sold at the moment of deployment.

So if you can't deliver, you'll deliver extra. Planning. This is not it.
519  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Windy City Bitcoin LLC - Bitcion Kiosk Operator Chicago on: December 16, 2013, 03:03:22 PM
Not sure why it is useless. I'm announcing an upcoming bitcoin business and service to the largest bitcoin community on the net. I think it is perfectly clear what the business intends to do.

A kiosk is a physical item. Operating a bitcoin kiosk is meaningless, other than the allusion to something happening with BTC. The fact that you cannot seem to grasp this on the second pass pretty much takes care of:

There are many different ways to go about starting a business, and whereas I think your link has some very sound advice, we already have a strategic plan in place that does not necessarily follow your template.

There are many ways to fail. Pretending as though there aren't any standards and best practices and that all paths of failure should be treated as equal to correct paths at the outset is how most people end up horribly "blindsided".
520  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Cryptomama.com - Free Cryptocurrency Classifieds - We need You ! on: December 16, 2013, 02:54:53 PM
Hi MPOE-PR,

Thanks for the link. Interesting info on there. As with any project I work on I think the most important thing in anything is persistence, patience, and honesty. I have no illusions as to the difficulty of the project, I do however have a bit of experience in pulling off difficult things.

For example if you live in Canada, and have visited a Walmart in the last year, have a stroll into the Bathroom Tissue section, you'll see a section with colored toilet paper and other products under the brand Renova. It took me two hard years to get the product in there but at the end I managed to pull it off.

I know mass retail is not the same as the web, I'm hoping though that work ethic and a bit of luck will get us over the first initial hump. As with any business I'm open to co-operation with individuals as well as other business', nothing is ever done alone, having said that if I can be of service over and above Cryptomama.com, in the retail, marketing arenas please let me know (offer not only for MPOE-PR but everyone else reading this). Here is my corporate website http://www.krosinski.com, not directly connected with Cryptomama but hey you never know.

It's nice that you have some business experience. That and "luck" do not qualify you to handle people's bitcoins. Following the standard steps you were linked to qualifies you.
